The feelings of peace, warmth, safety and love enveloped Sasuke continuously. His thoughts were nothing but of those surrounding him and he thought of nothing more. Sasuke didn't think about eating, sleeping, his destination, his life goals, dreams, nothing. Being in complete tranquility, who would want to leave it, really?
The colour surrounding his vision was even soft and warm. He couldn't even remember what the colour was actually called, but he would smile and just continue to stare blankly into it, his mind a complete fog to anything other than the sensations, sounds and sight before him.
A strange vibration tickled his nose. What is that? The vibration passed his nose again, but hit his lips as well. Sasuke's nose scrunched up slightly. The vibrations continued to get wider, harder, with each passing wave and Sasuke became more aware of it, and it was pissing him off. With each pass, his utopia was disturbed, and he certainly wasn't in the mood to leave it.
When the vibrations began to wash over his body, that was when he started to feel his omega's irritation and became distressed. Sasuke listened carefully, feeling out to his wolf to determine his omega's sudden change in mood. There was a threat, something out there, danger, danger, get away! He could feel the foreboding anxiety rise around him, the warning that could jeopardize himself and the surrounding entity he was within. Behind the snarls and howling calls of the omega he heard something…
"-ke! Me! Wha-"
It was but a whisper and Sasuke strained his hearing to listen more. His omega flared up in anger, he could feel the adrenaline racing through his omega's body, ready to attack whatever it was that was the danger.
"Sa-ke! Plea-"
Naruto? Sasuke's eyes flew open, he didn't know they were closed. Looking about he could see the colour, a soft hazy green fog with shots of electricity flying around him. Through the fog he could hear the wolf snarling, growing, ripping at something… The warmth of his alpha swirled around him and Sasuke inhaled deeply, taking in the scent of his mate, the feel of warmth like the sun encasing him with protection and devotion.
"Naruto!" Sasuke called out quickly, turning his body, then realizing he wasn't in his physical body. What he thought was his body was really nothing but an entity of his actual physical body. The green aura around him sparked faster, all around him, as if pushing him towards something. Finding himself right side up, or so he figured as much, Sasuke found himself pushing himself away from the green aura and into a wall of deep blue. The blue was so thick, dark navy in colour and he could feel the energy of anger, fear and panic pulsing towards him. Immediately he knew it was his omega, fighting something on the outside, in wolf form and Sasuke slammed himself against it.
"Stop! Stop! Naruto!" Sasuke screamed through the blue barrier wall, willing his wolf to stop. Sasuke could feel the confusion, the pain, the sadness coming from the blond alpha while it was attacked by his own dark wolf. "Please stop!" Sasuke screamed himself hoarse, his eyes would have been wet with frustrated tears if he was in his physical form and his fingers clawed continuously at the barrier wall. Sharp shards of electricity suddenly pinched at his body, causing Sasuke to cry out in surprise. The shards of electricity were trying to push him away, back towards the small bouncing green orb that was still hovering behind Sasuke.
Sasuke fell to his knees, feeling frustrated and an uneasiness washed over him. He could feel Naruto, he knew it was him, begging, pleading in distress, for Sasuke to stop the painful assault. Sasuke pulled his hair, feeling the onslaught of failure as he sat here, stuck within the mindset of his own wolf, unable to get his omega to respond.
A warmth nudged at his shoulder and Sasuke lifted his eyes. The soft glowing green orb hovered before him, its small electrical currents touching Sasuke all around his face. Each touch, Sasuke felt protected, cherished and loved. His lips gave a sad smile at the small sphere. "I-I don't know what to do…" Sasuke whispered out sadly, talking to the small sphere.
His body was suddenly hit with a wave that caused him to jerk in surprise. His head fell back, his eyes were wide with surprise and his arms flew out to hold his balance. The overwhelming exhilaration that consumed his body left him feeling light and ardent as he felt his body begin to lift onto his feet and turn towards the deep coloured blue wall that was behind him. He managed to finally look about his body to find his body consumed with a greenish blue aura, that sparkled out shots of electric bolts from all over his body. 'Wha-?' His body moved swiftly forward, his arms out and he smashed against the dark blue wall. He felt his body pushing against the surges of power, slowly slipping through the barrier and the continuous pushing of power. 'The orb...has melded within me, I can feel it! It's so intense!' Sasuke felt confidence building within his muscles as he pushed and slammed his shoulders into the dark blue wall.
The intense force of the wall fought back, but Sasuke could feel himself slowly pushing through, with the help of the small green orb. He screamed hard, screamed for the wolf to stop attacking his mate while he clawed and punched through the obstruction. "STOOOOPPP!" he screamed again before his body fell through and he was encased in darkness.

Naruto paced around the bedroom, running his hands through his blond locks continuously as he watched his dark haired mate sleep on the bed. Naruto, together with Obito and Izumi had brought back Sasuke's unconscious form yesterday evening and Sasuke had yet to wake up. It was now nearing 24 hours and Sasuke was examined by his mother, his brother and Obito who had some medical experience, and they all stated Sasuke was fine. Fine like fuck! His mate should be awake by now!
When all Sasuke's examinations were completed, Naruto cuddled up to Sasuke as close as possible. His alpha was excited and at peace having his mate nearby, but it didn't realize Sasuke wouldn't wake. Naruto's mind was spinning with worry on why Sasuke wouldn't wake up. He checked every area of his body for injuries, finding none and feeling somewhat relieved. In his haste he contacted Sakura with the help of Itachi's phone, since he forgot his, and Sakura agreed that if the Uchiha's looked him over and said Sasuke was fine, then he should trust his mates pack.
Sighing loudly, he took a seat on the edge of the bed, grasping Sasuke's hand and running his thumb over the soft skin slowly. He stared at Sasuke's eyelids, seeing the slight flickering now and then, indicating that Sasuke was deep in sleep. That had to mean something, didn't it? The door opened and Naruto growled slightly at the intrusion. His alpha flared up suddenly, feeling threatened that someone had come into the room where his precious mate lay and Naruto clenched his teeth, trying to calm the alpha down. The alpha began to settle when Naruto realized who came in.
"Deidara! It's so good to see you," Naruto smiled at the omega, who was carrying a tray of what looked to be snacks and juice.
"Naruto-un, so good to see you to, safe and sound." Deidara flashed Naruto a smile before putting the tray down. "Were you hungry un? I brought a little something."
Naruto rubbed the side of his neck, smiling softly when his stomach picked that exact moment to growl out. "Yeah, thanks Dei, I didn't realize I was hungry." Naruto brought Sasuke's hand up to his lips, giving it a soft kiss before moving around the bed to the tray of food. He grunted out slightly when the blond omega gathered him up into a warm hug.
"I'm glad you're alright," Deidara patted Naruto's back warmly. "Did Kisame and Hidan find you?" Deidara's soft baby blues looked up at Naruto at the question.
"Well, yeah they did, but-well we ran into a problem," Naruto's voice sounded sorrowful. Deidara's eyes widened slightly and his lips parted in a light gasp. "Oh hey, no they are alright-now, it's just-Kisame kinda needs time to heal," Naruto tapped Deidara's shoulders trying to be positive when Deidara looked even more worried now. "But no, umm, Sakura says he will be okay, he and Hidan are at my house right now." Naruto gave a nervous chuckle and scratched the back of his head.
"What happened then? Does Itachi know?" Deidara grabbed the fabric around Naruto's arms, clenching them tightly.
"Do I know what?" a low voice spoke up from the doorway.
Naruto and Deidara both looked to see Itachi standing at the doorway of the bedroom, his head slanted slightly with his one sleek black eyebrow raised in question as he stared the two of them down.
Naruto trembled slightly at the intense stare he was getting from Itachi. 'Great, more news to get them all worried.' Naruto thought to himself as he gave a nervous smile to the Uchiha.
"About what happened to Kisame." Itachi's eyes flickered up to Naruto immediately, his glare intensified. "I don't know un, Naruto was about to tell me." Deidara turned back around to look at Naruto and crossed his arms.
"Errr...umm…" Naruto didn't know what to say. He wasn't good at these types of situations, this was Kakashi's department, not his. He began to twiddle his thumbs, looking everywhere else but at the Uchiha's.
"Let's have a seat and start from the beginning." Itachi spoke up in an authoritative tone, taking control of the situation and moved towards the small table where Deidara had put the tray of food and drinks. Naruto inwardly breathed a sigh of relief, running a hand through his hair before following the two Uchiha's to the sitting chairs. He quickly glanced at the still sleeping form of Sasuke, seeing no change and his alpha sighed in relief being able to stay in the same room as his mate. He took a seat with Itachi and Deidara and began to tell of when his party met up with Kisame and Hidan. He left out the detailed information about Utakata healing Kisame, since Kakashi informed him specifically of such an ability never being heard of before and Utakata may not want other's to know of his ability, yet.
Sometime later, Itachi leaned back on his chair, arms crossed, eyes closed as he took in the information that Naruto had shared with him. Naruto had gone back to sitting with Sasuke, the alpha wanting to be close to his mate. 'Vampires...shit,' Itachi thought to himself. Of course he knew of vampires, but they hadn't been interfering for decades, perhaps even centuries, always keeping to their own kind, finding any other being uncultured. Is one of many words the vampire clans would use to describe any other type species. Itachi rubbed his chin unconsciously. Of course vampires needed the human race, but over the last few centuries other ways to survive have of course come into the market. You could blame evolution for that. Itachi smirked slightly, still in thought. 'Can't run around like wild animals forever now can we?' But he was certain there were still some vampires out there that still considered humans and other beings for that matter, as cattle.
"Itachi-un?"
Itachi blinked his eyes open, seeing his mate looking at him with confusion, his fingers twiddling on his lap. He gave his mate a small smile, seeing the blond looking much better after his long nap. Though Deidara hadn't brought up pregnancy again, but he knew it would be discussed at a later date, and he meant what he said, he would find the answer on why, for Deidara. "Hm?" he responded to Deidara, indicating that he was listening.
"Do you think this could mean trouble for the clans?"
Itachi pinched his lips slightly giving a frown. "Not sure just yet, but until Kisame and Hidan return, perhaps they will know more." He glanced over at Naruto who was stroking Sasuke's hair slowly, his eyes not leaving the sleeping raven haired man. "Until then, I will talk to my father, he may know information as well there may be more information in the library." He stood up then, running his hands down his slacks to smooth out the wrinkles. Deidara just watched him, not making any moves and Itachi raised a brow. "How about you? Are you alright?" He stepped up to Deidara, holding out his hand to him and Deidara slowly pulled himself up from the chair.
Deidara pulled himself into his alpha's embrace, nuzzling Itachi's neck and inhaling his scent. "Hmm, yes un, I'm fine," he lied. With everything that had been going on in the Uchiha home for the past two days, not to mention his own insecurities as a mate, he wondered how he was going to hold himself together for much longer.
Itachi ran his fingers through the long blond hair, rubbing Deidara's scalp gently. "Don't lie, I know you better than that," he whispered. "Thank you for being you and I promise we will get to the bottom of this." He planted a soft kiss on Deidara's temple. The omega purred loudly. "Look after Sasuke in the meantime, I'm going to talk to tochan." He ran his fingers through Deidara's hair again and cupped the omega's cheek, giving him a chaste kiss on the omega's lips, leaving the omega dazed as he left the room.
Deidara opened his eyes and hugged himself. He could do this, be strong for the pack, for Sasuke until everything was back to normal. He turned to see Naruto had laid down beside Sasuke, nestling himself in close and Deidara couldn't help but smile at the sight. Since they had all eaten, Deidara decided to take the empty dishes out and give the alpha some space. Hopefully Sasuke would wake soon.

Sasuke felt warm, cosy and safe. His omega was content, purring and if he didn't know any better, he would think that his omega wolf was kneading its paws on something soft and fluffy like a kitten would. The intense emotions of euphoric contentment had Sasuke riding the waves and basking in the glow. His consciousness began to focus more and Sasuke realized he was in a bed, waking from what felt like a glorious sleep. The scents around him were familiar, safe and-and Naruto!
Sasuke flickered his eyes open as quickly as he could, his heart thumping excitedly at the familiar scent and heat of his mate nearby and he hissed slightly when the brightness of the room stung his eyes. Squinting, he could see the ceiling of his own bedroom, at the Uchiha manor, and he could hear the soft snores of his alpha in his ears. Turning his head slightly, his nose came into contact with Naruto's chest, rising and falling softly and he felt his lips smile shyly. His chest immediately bloomed out with heat, Naruto was home, and he was certain he wasn't dreaming. Testing his arms, they were slightly sore, but bearable, he moved his one arm and dragged his fingertips up the alpha's chest.
"Mmm...Sas," the blond alpha murmured in his sleep, his arms squeezing the omega a little tighter, his nose burrowing into the crown of his head more. Sasuke chuckled quietly and buried his nose into the alpha's chest a little more, inhaling deeply, his hand on the heated chest of Naruto. Yes, this is no dream and his omega rolled about in his head like a cat drunk on catnip.
Naruto's subconscious began to waken, realizing he had fallen asleep but was content with being surrounded by the omega's scent and heat. He wiggled his nose in Sasuke's hair, reveling in the emotions of finally being near Sasuke again. A shock of heat raced through his chest when he felt a warm palm pressed up against his chest. Squeezing his arms more tightly, his eyes pierced a pang of tears when memories of Sasuke and himself sprang to the forefront of his mind, memories of their special times together, but being as Sasuke was in deep sleep for reasons unknown, he knew his mind was playing tricks on him.
"Umph...N-Naru-to-to tight," a raspy voice squeaked out.
Naruto's eyes then sprang wide open, his head pushing back to look at the dark hair beneath his chin, his arms loosening their grip almost immediately. "Eh? W-what?" His heart leapt when Sasuke's head adjusted and turned so dark orbs were looking up at him. "Oh jeezuz f-fuck, Sas?" Naruto managed to place a hand on Sasuke's cheek, his thumb gently rubbing at the skin, those eyes, oh fuck those eyes. They were open, deep cobalt like the midnight sky, looking right up at him with realization on who he was! "Oh my-" Naruto planted a kiss on Sasuke's forehead, "y-you," another kiss, "are you-really?" another kiss on Sasuke's cheek, "really awake?" Naruto continued placing kiss after kiss on Sasuke's face, touching every area between each breath of words. "Sas? Is it- *kiss*- really you? -*kiss*-" Naruto's fingertips moved gently around Sasuke's head, touching and rubbing gently, terrified that Sasuke would disappear from this hopeful dream.
"W-who else would I be-dobe," Sasuke gave a snarky response through his raspy throat, but couldn't hide the corner of his mouth turning up to smile. His omega was enthralled with the attention it was receiving from the alpha, leaving his entire body feeling sated and whole. Like the two wolves were finally at peace because they were together again.
"I was so worried," Naruto continued to kiss areas of Sasuke's head. "Y-you were gone when I got back," he rubbed his cheek against Sasuke's head. "And you didn't know me, and you bit me, and shit did it hurt," Naruto mumbled into Sasuke's hair.
Sasuke pulled back from Naruto's grasp, making the alpha halt his loving ministrations. "You aren't making sense. What are you talking about?"
Naruto adjusted himself onto his side, resting his head on his bent arm, his other arm still wrapped around Sasuke, refusing to lose direct physical contact with him. He smiled slightly and traced his finger down Sasuke's eyebrow that was wrinkled because of him frowning. "You weren't home when I got back."
"I was here of course," Sasuke huffed out. "I told you I was going to be staying here at times before you left. Forget already dobe?" Sasuke huffed out in a teasing manner.
"What! No! I didn't forget!" Naruto grinned then bit his lip when he felt the heat rush to his cheeks. "Well, umm...maybe at first?" He let out a nervous chuckle and placed a kiss on Sasuke's nose, who in return scoffed a snorting noise at him. "B-but when you weren't here-here when I got here," Naruto pointed his finger down towards the bed trying to explain, "me and my wolf freaked out more when I didn't find you..uhh..here." His blond brows rose with his widening eyes as he tried to explain to Sasuke.
Sasuke rolled his eyes at his mate's oh so eloquent descriptive sentences. "Hold on," Sasuke snapped his eyes back at Naruto's blues. "What do you mean I wasn't here?" He pointed his finger to the bed just as Naruto did earlier.
Naruto scratched the side of his cheek in thought. "Well, you weren't here at the house when I got here." He let out a long breath when Sasuke gave him a confused look and waited for him to continue. "And me and my alpha kinda got pissed…" He shrugged, his hand resting on Sasuke's arm, his thumb softly rubbing circles on the exposed skin. "And then someone said you were outside, so I went, but you were in your wolf stage and totally bit the crap out of me, oww by the way," he gave a teasing grin before leaning his face forward and rubbing his cheek quickly against Sasuke's face. "And you transformed back but then you passed out, but we brought you back and now you're awake!" Naruto's eyes gleamed with excitement.
Sasuke pinched his lips and glanced down, his eyes narrowed in thought. He had no recollection of not being in the manor and certainly not in wolf form and attacking Naruto. His last memories came to the forefront of his mind…
'Tochan….kachan, Obito and Izumi, here...and that-that alpha...'
"Sasuke?" Naruto whispered out after several moments of silence passed and seeing the distracted look on his face.
Sasuke moved suddenly, shifting his body to sit up on the bed and moving his legs to the side. Naruto scrambled to get behind him, worried that he was moving too quickly and pressed his chest up behind Sasuke's back. "Sas? Are you okay?" Naruto nuzzled his nose into Sasuke's neck, sniffing and checking for injuries. He could feel the distress in his mate and the alpha began to fret.
Sasuke rubbed his temples, squeezing his eyes shut as he focused on the memories. All he could see was meeting his family in the dining room, then he woke up here, in his room, with Naruto by his side. There was nothing else, nothing else in his memory that showed Naruto's explanation. His breathing quickened slightly recalling Naruto's words, of what he was, of what he did, then...what the fuck is going on?! His head swarmed in dizziness and Sasuke felt-he felt…
Sasuke scrambled to get off the bed, his knees buckling from the sudden change of movement and he hit the floor.
"Sasuke!" Naruto leaped off the bed, his arms moving to scoop up Sasuke from the floor but the omega moved onto his hands and knees, crawling as fast as he could across the wooden floor, his hand covering his mouth. "What's wrong! Let me help you Sas!" Naruto tried to tuck his hands under Sasuke's arms but the omega was moving in a panic.
Sasuke managed to get himself moving on all fours as best he could, heading straight to his bathroom. Naruto managed to grab his one arm and slip his other arm around his waist, hoisting him up so he could attempt to walk on his legs, but they shook from the strain and he could feel his feet slipping beneath from the unexpected weight of his body. His one arm leaned against the alpha, he kept one hand over his lips and pulled Naruto with him through the bathroom door, where he collapsed in front of the toilet and promptly vomited. He heaved and wretched, his body not allowing any control over the matter and he could feel the tears squeezing from his eyes while his stomach emptied what little content there was. He clenched the sides of the toilet bowl while he was at the mercy of his body. Naruto rubbed his back soothingly and attempted to keep his hair back. After several moments that felt like an hour, Sasuke's stomach finally stopped convulsing and he leaned his forehead against the toilet seat, panting harshly and spitting out the after taste as much as possible. The toilet flushed and he silently thanked the alpha for doing so.
"Just hold on, I'll be right back," Naruto whispered in his ear, running his fingers over his hair softly. Sasuke could only moan back in response while his full body weight was against the toilet.
Within moments, Naruto returned with a warm wet cloth and placed it over Sasuke's mouth. He urged Sasuke to lean back from the toilet, his body holding Sasuke's shaking form steady while he sat back against the strong warmth of Naruto's chest on the floor. Sasuke's hand trembled as he moved the warm cloth against his sour lips, wiping away the reminisce of his sickness and rubbing his tongue on it afterwards to get the acid flavour in his mouth.
"Here, water," Naruto whispered out and held up a cup to Sasuke's lips.
Sasuke sighed out in relief as he took a large swallow of the cool water, Naruto tipping the cup gently to release into Sasuke's mouth. When he had his fill he leaned his head back against Naruto with a long exhausted breath. Putting the cup down on the floor, Naruto tossed the wet soiled towel into the corner and brought a dry one up to Sasuke's face, rubbing down his skin gently. Sasuke purred out at the gentle treatment and waited as his trembling began to subside.
Several minutes passed while the pair sat on the bathroom floor. Naruto traced his fingers up and down Sasuke's arms, Sasuke relaxed into Naruto's embrace, the comfortable silence filled the room.
"Can you stand?" Naruto broke the stillness in the room.
Sasuke moved slightly, testing his legs and arms, finding that he most likely could trust himself to at least stand.
Naruto moved himself up smooth and quickly and slowly brought Sasuke to his feet. Sasuke wavered slightly but would lean into Naruto. Naruto stepped with him slowly to the sink, "hang onto the sides, brush your teeth, and then I'll help you after." Naruto stepped away cautiously, ensuring that Sasuke wouldn't fall before he turned and left the room.
Sasuke looked at his face in the vanity. His skin was pale, his eyes looked sunken with dark shadows under his eyes. His hair was a greasy mess and he blanched at himself looking so unhealthy. Grabbing his toothbrush, he managed to get the reminiscent acid blah out of his mouth from his unscheduled and not appreciated visit to the toilet. The tub water turning on behind him brought him out of his muse.
Naruto had brought in a change of clothing, towels and arranged the soaps as the heated water slowly filled up the large tub. He added some scented salts as the water filled up and turned to look at Sasuke. He beamed a warm smile. "Figured you would benefit from a nice hot bath."
Sasuke felt his heart melt into a huge pile of warm mush at the nurturing nature that the alpha was expressing. He couldn't move as Naruto came up to him, kissed his forehead and began to gently slip his dirty sleepwear from his body, kissing each area of skin as it was exposed. Sasuke's skin heated up and he could swear that his cheeks were most likely flushed red. Normally he would contest that he could get undressed on his own, but his omega instincts were on high gear, basking in the devotion from the alpha, leaving him speechless.
When Sasuke was nude before Naruto, those blue eyes were dilated with adoration towards the dark haired Uchiha, his fingers running up Sasuke's arms slowly, feeling every dimple and crease. No words were said as Naruto guided Sasuke to the tub, helping him step in and get settled. Slipping his own clothes off quickly, Naruto lowered himself in behind Sasuke, took a washcloth and began rubbing the omega's skin gently and slowly. Sasuke closed his eyes and sighed, allowing himself to be embraced by the heat from the water and from the alpha.
==intermission==
Itachi slowly took in the shelves of books and pulled volumes out from the shelves, placing them on a table and briefly scanning the pages before placing bookmarks in various areas. It wasn't long before his father had come into the room.
"How is Sasuke?" his father called out, Kakazu following closely behind him. Itachi glanced over his shoulder and frowned slightly at seeing the other alpha. His displeasure must have shown since Fugako smirked in response, "he is one of my most trusted members. There is no need to show distrust towards him."
"Tochan, I have never met Kakazu-kun, nor have I heard of him, thus I believe I have every right to have my suspicions when you bring him along to my family home," Itachi snapped back, feeling the irritation rise.
"You admit you do not trust your clan leader, your mentor-your father?" Fugaku barked right back, folding his arms across his chest.
"Considering your proven abilities to keep secrets from your own sons, ones that could lead to mental torment, physical suffering, self harm exploitation and post traumatic stress disorder of such high levels that could lead to complete shutdown of human mental capacity, then...yes, I would have to say there is a level of mistrust." Itachi snapped his lips shut at the rebut and took a seat in a large armchair giving his father a stare that meant Fugaku was to sit down, now and without question.
Fugaku frowned at his oldest son, not moving an inch and eyeing up Itachi. 'What a fine clan leader he has become,' he thought to himself before letting out a snort and sitting across from Itachi. He continued to match the glare of his son, until he cleared his throat. Kakazu stood behind him quietly. He didn't miss the glower Itachi gave his clan member. "I understand you had wanted to discuss vampires, and Kakazu here may have some intel to add to your search."
With this new light of information, Itachi's eyebrow rose in surprise and he eyed up Kakazu again. The alpha was certainly intimidating, perfect for what he figured the Uchiha clan wanted, but what is that this large alpha could have that could benefit his research on vampires? He frowned briefly at the thought.
"Very well." He kept his voice professional and icy. "Naruto has informed me of a situation that Kisame and Hidan came across while they were on route to assist the Uzumaki clan." Fugaku leaned forward on his chair slightly, his head tilting to listen in closely, folding his hands on his lap. "Naruto and his group came across Kisame and Hidan greatly outnumbered by vampires and if it weren't for the group coming across them when they did, I'm afraid that both would not have survived." Itachi pinched his lips together, remembering the conversation with Naruto. Itachi explained where the group of werewolves were located and the path Kisame and Hidan most likely took to find Naruto. There wasn't a coven located anywhere near the areas, as well both groups knew where to travel so not to cross any borders unsuspectedly.
"Did the vampires say or give away anything that would have suggested why they would have attacked Kisame and Hidan?" Fugaku asked out after a few moments of silence between the two.
Itachi shook his head. "The group managed to kill the lot of them, but one got away shrieking about how they should enjoy their one victory."
Fugaku frowned at that information. "That could be a problem," he muttered out, rubbing his chin in thought. He leaned back into the armchair, letting out a long drawn out sigh. "Vampires are tenacious for holding a grudge, the worst I've ever encountered in a species. One could say they are a very proud race, and some would say that their species are dauntless and riddled with their own sense of honour. I would say they have a false sense of superiority." Fugaku smirked at the comment. "Every species has a weakness, but vampires-well they have learned over centuries how to evolve their DNA to lessen their known weaknesses, become more of a supreme being."
Itachi hummed in acknowledgment and ran a hand through his hair. This wasn't good news. "Your saying that vampires have been working on abolishing their genetic weaknesses?"
"Hn," Fugaku responded. "It isn't surprising, all species look into genetics and cures to save their species. Even the Uchiha scientists work towards curing diseases and ways to overcome genetic abnormalities. It's just that vampires have been known to look into more inhuman ways to find answers, with my experience that is." Fugaku cringed at the explanation.
Itachi scoffed. He certainly knew of a certain werewolf that tried the same thing, and Orochimaru has still eluded the authorities on his questionable scientific activities. His alpha flared up with disgust and anger at the thought of Orochimaru and his history with his otouto.
"Information was presented to me some time ago, perhaps it was about 30 or 40 years ago now," Fugaku rubbed his chin again, looking up at the ceiling in thought. "Accusations of a vampire colony using other species to splice DNA with their own species for their research. Our clan assisted others with finding evidence of these accusations and sadly, we had found one of their research laboratories, hidden deep within a mountain." Fugaku shook his head slowly, the memories of that time coming back to the surface. It wasn't a pleasant experience as he recalled the levels of floors that were built into the rock, rooms full of tortuous devices for removing anything and everything from a body. And the remains of what creatures there were, some near death, some mutilated and screeching in mindless pain and so on. Fugaku closed his eyes and rubbed his temples, willing the dark memories back into the recesses of his mind.
Itachi's eyes focused on his father's form, startled at his father's confession. This is by far the most information his father has ever shared with him about clan activities in his past, ever. Itachi could empathize with his father, having seen the laboratory of Orochimaru where he found his otouto all those years ago. The smell was the worst, still embedded in his mind many years later.
"The documents we managed to retrieve before the vampires destroyed everything suggested that they were experimenting with cross breeding. There was bits of information about villages they had explored, species they had researched and names and descriptions of potential and probable specimens," he growled out the word, "that were a close match to their genetics. I was disgusted to see that their description of other species, people they experimented on, were described as a piece of meat!" Fugaku spat out, his teeth clenched slightly.
Itachi gasped slightly at this information. This was something that he was certain wouldn't be found in any of the archived books in his library. "And what of these probable persons? What happened to them?" Itachi asked quickly, wanting to know the results as well.
"We explored every area that we could find listed on the remains of the documents," he shook his head sadly, dropping his chin and hiding his eyes in the shadows of his thick hair. "There was nothing left," his voice was low and quiet. "The colonies had heard of our raid and destroyed as much evidence as they could before we could save any of them." He closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose, releasing a long shaky breath.
Itachi gave his father a tender look, seeing the emotion his father expressed to him as he told him a piece of his past, Itachi couldn't help but feel a sense of connection that he thought was long gone. His heart went out to his tochan, seeing a new side to him and he reached out to touch his father's knee gently. When tired, seasoned dark eyes that matched his own met his in surprise, Itachi gave him a soft smile of support and squeezed his knee, expressing his understanding.
Fugaku gave a small smile back to Itachi before he sat up and ran his hand through his hair again and straightened out his shirt. He cleared his throat, "well, as I was saying, there wasn't anything left when we explored the villages. There were so many, almost a dozen or so of them, and it took us months to get to them all. But we had also learned more about the colonies, that the villages listed weren't the only ones. We found many others, wiped clean of any living species, many burned to ash, nothing left but black marks in the land. Apparently this had been going on for years." He took a breath before he turned slightly to his right, Itachi watching curiously. "It is when I found Kakazu-kun, from one of those villages. I don't know how he managed to escape let alone survive, but he was alone, fending for himself, fighting for food, doing whatever he could to survive." Fugaku gave the large alpha behind him a nod and Kakazu bowed towards the Uchiha elder in respect.
"I owe you my life Uchiha-sama," Kakazu voices rumbled low and deep through the room.
"His clan was wiped out by vampires," Fugaku spoke sternly. "It wasn't fair to him what had happened, and I couldn't let him be on his own. He was a young adult pup, but I could see the potential in him." Fugaku gave a nod and a firm smile. "I sent him to be trained with Captain Tenzo."
Ah, that would be why Itachi never saw the large alpha. Once his father had found him, he sent him to live with the respected clan captain, who trained and ran the clan military training. Itachi nodded his head out of respect towards Kakazu, feeling slightly better knowing more about the strange alpha.
"Did you learn anything about Kakazu-kun's clan?" Itachi glanced up at the large alpha and then back at his father.
Fugaku's shoulders slouched slightly before letting out a tired sigh. "That his clan was a testing ground for cross breeding." Itachi flinched when Fugaku spit out the explanation with repugnance. "The omega's were raped by vampires in front of their mates and sometimes even pups, and from my understanding, their mutant hybrid abominations didn't survive, but developed enough within omega's wombs long enough to tear them to shreds from the inside out." Fugaku growled through his clenched teeth, his eyes rimmed red, as he retold one of the many situations that he had been exposed to.
Itachi let his mortified shock spread on his face. He glanced up at Kakazu who still stood stock still, no sense of emotion being released from his body and Itachi did not feel any hostility coming from the alpha. Itachi wasn't sure what to say after learning this information, it was a lot to process.
A silence held over the room, as if giving a silent vigilance to those who were lost in the past to hideous, gruesome and uncalled for deaths.
"Uchiha-sama?"
Fugaku and Itachi looked up quickly at Kakazu who had broken the silence, shocking them both. Both gave Kakazu a nod of approval to continue.
"You must know that there was a survivor from my clan," Kakazu's voice was steady and firm.
"Oh? I thought you were the only one, considering there was nothing left of your village when it was discovered," Fugaku responded, looking at the alpha curiously.
Kakazu bowed slightly, holding his position. "Forgive me but you must be informed. There was a young omega woman, she had no mate but had a pup. He was strange, not like the rest of us. She escaped with her pup days before they came to destroy us."
