The prologue for one of my upcoming stories. It's Beastars, if you couldn't tell already from the title and summary. It's going to follow the plot of the first two seasons (because those are the only ones I've seen) with a few changes. That includes almost everyone being genderbent to a female, and having a thing for Legoshi. As well as some characters being OOC, with Legoshi being a little more 'open' and not just pursuing Haru as his love interest. Juno will be a little less of a segregationist, especially once Legoshi actually notices her ;)

Anyway, I hope y'all are doing just fine. And that you'll enjoy my take on Beastars :D

Edit: changed Prologue to Chapter 1 with some minor filler added. Enjoy.

Cherryton School, Year One

There has to be a mistake here.

The young, male gray wolf swallowed his unease as he stared at the extravagant sign plastered on the front of the main building he stood before. 'Cherryton School' was what the bland, colorless letters spelled out. But that wasn't why the wolf felt out of place; it was the fact that there wasn't a sign of a single male (as far as he could see) on campus. The females were wearing… provocative school uniforms unsuitable for this environment. And despite having his best friend at his side, the wolf remained tense and unsure as he watched his future fellow students go about their day.

"Jack? I…I don't think this is right." The wolf turned to the sprightly, energetic, yellow-furred labrador retriever beside him. She was a head shorter than he, reaching up to his chest. But what she lacked in height, the young female canine made up for in other fields. Her blue v-neck t-shirt hugged the curves and contours of her torso, revealing the lack of a bra to support the ample D-Cups she sported; her perky nipples poked through the fabric, and Legoshi felt a slight heat flare in his cheeks as his eyes glanced over the canine girl's breasts. Trailing further down her body, the girl's hips flared out to a certain degree, giving her a somewhat hourglass figure complemented by her ample chest and hefty backside. All-in-all, Jacqueline, or 'Jack' to her friend, was quite the looker, not that the wolf would ever admit that.

Jack looked up at her tall, lanky friend with confusion in her big brown eyes. "What do you mean, Legoshi?" This isn't the right school, or…?"

"I…I guess? I don't know." Legoshi sighed as he rubbed the back of his neck, unsure how to explain what was on his mind to her. He nervously eyed the females meandering around the school grounds. "It's just…there are alot of girls here."

Jack giggled and shook her head. "But Legoshi, I'm a girl, too."

"That's not what I meant," Legoshi defended himself, waving his hands back and forth. "I…it's just that…" He sighed and hung his head. "Nevermind. Let's get going and head to reception."

Jack lightly punched the soft-spoken wolf in the arm, a broad, encouraging smile spread across her muzzle. "That's the spirit, Legoshi! Let's start our first week of school with a bang!" The Labrador retriever whooped excitedly as she skipped ahead of her lupine friend, leaving behind in her dust.

Legoshi stayed behind and watched as his childhood friend dashed toward the main building, lugging her suitcase behind her. A small, warm smile touched his wolfish lips before it quickly dissipated. He looked down at the bug tank tucked under his right arm, where his pet beetle, Beetley, slowly crawled along the habitat floor. It was a gift from his mother, whom he'd not seen for some time due to her career as a part-time 'exotic species' fashion model. She was well-known throughout town, but not her son, Legoshi. Which the young wolf was more than okay with. He'd prefer to not have any attention drawn to himself, be it because of his mother or any other reason.

'Well,' he thought, watching Beetley go about his business without a care. 'I better catch up with Jack before she says or does something out of pocket and makes a fool of ourselves before our first day.' With a soft sigh, Legoshi grabbed his rolling suitcase and sauntered to where his friend disappeared.

The reception area was not what one would expect from a prestigious school such as Cherryton; it was very plain. A set of glass double doors separated the lobby from the outside world, and a beige carpet lined the floor. The walls were also white-washed, giving the interior of the building's first floor a very bland appearance. The sight of it made young Legoshi feel depressed, even with his bubbly, bouncing ray of sunshine of a friend beside him. He sighed as they waited for what seemed like an eternity before a staff member finally appeared and manned the reception desk to check in the canine duo.

After being handed out a list of items they'd need to acquire from the school supply store, Legoshi and Jack received a set of keys, one main pair and a spare, to their dorm rooms. Both canines noticed that they had the same room number. When Legoshi brought it to the receptionist's attention, she merely waved him off, stating that there are only two dorm buildings that were separated into 'carnivore' and 'herbivore'; she also added that, since Cherryton used to be an all-female school (until the headmistress and the council passed legislation that would allow a small number, around 50 or so, of male students to attend Cherryton) there was no need to separate students by gender. However, she gave Legoshi and Jack, mostly Legoshi, a stern glare and warned that she "...Better not receive any noise complaints from either the Housemother or other students." When Legoshi inquired what she meant by that, Jack promptly grabbed his arm and hastily dragged him outside before the receptionist could answer.

The two stood outside the carnivore dorm building, looking in awe at the tall structure. Jack was the first to snap out of her stupor and head inside, beckoning for Legoshi to do the same. The wolf followed, slowly lowering his gaze until he entered the building. Once inside, they proceeded to the nearest elevator. The elevator car was rickety and downright dangerous. The entire ride up to their designated floor was nerve-wracking for the wolf and labrador; every shake and creak set the two canines on edge until the car finally stopped, and they could step out onto the stable, solid ground. After smoothing out their frizzled fur (which had puffed up from their rather frightening ride in the elevator), Legoshi and Jack made their way to their designated room.

"Well," Jack said, looking between the door and Legoshi. "Here we are. You ready?"

Legoshi gulped and shook his head. "Nope. I'm starting to have second thoughts about this." He turned to leave, but Jack grabbed his tail and pulled him back, drawing a startled yelp from the wolf.

"Oh, come on, Legoshi!" Jack said, almost whining. "We've gotten this far. There's no going back now!" Legoshi huffed and gave his friend a stern look, which the labrador dismissed with a broad, enthusiastic smile. "What's the worst that can happen?" With that, she opened the door with her keys and stepped inside with Legoshi close behind her.

Only to find the room already occupied by four other students, all of them female . Legoshi would've been fine if it was just him and Jack sharing a room. But to have Jack and four more girls as roommates? The poor wolf thought his heart would give out at the mere idea.

Before him and Jack stood four females, three canines, and the other a spotted hyena. The three canines were a coyote, an Old English Sheepdog, and a small fennec fox that used the sheepdog's shoulders as a perch. All four stared at Legoshi specifically, as he was the only male present. Then the coyote stepped forward, her muzzle spread into a wide grin. "Finally! It's about time we got some testosterone in here! All this femininity was starting to wear on me." She extended a hand toward Legoshi. "Name's Durham! And don't worry, I don't bite~."

Legoshi hesitated, looking from the offered appendage to the smiling coyote and back again before he finally took her hand in his own and shook it. "L-Legoshi," he said softly.

Durham nodded and withdrew her hand before offering it to the labrador beside him. "And what's your name, cutie?"

Unlike Legoshi, Jack eagerly accepted the handshake, her tail becoming a blur as she happily greeted the coyote. "I'm Jacqueline! But my friends call me 'Jack.' and don't worry about Legoshi. He's just a bit shy!"

Durham widened her smile as she gave him a sidelong glance. "Oh? Well, in any case, we're glad to have you here. Come on in and meet the others!" The coyote beckoned them inside, stepping out of their way as they entered the room.

"Welcome to 701, Jack and Legoshi!"
