Rise of the Snakes
Jamanakai Village, one of the many villages in Ninjago, was located near The Mountains of Impossible Heights. It's situated on the side of a large mountain with hard-working villagers and was the home of Jamanakai Village Inn, which was heavily advertised around Ninjago.
Nearby the village, the kids Lloyd Garmadon and Melissa Zhau were there. It's been over two days since they had been kicked out of Darkley's Boarding School for Bad Kids after they saved a kid and were told that they weren't evil, and they intended to prove everyone wrong figuring Jamanakai Village was the first place to start spreading their evil.
"We're here, Jamanakai Village," Lloyd presented with an evil smirk. "The perfect place to start showing how evil we are."
"And, to also get some candy too," Melissa pointed out.
"Right, that too," Lloyd nodded in agreement, and then he looked at his best friend. "Alright, you remember the plan?"
"Make our presence known and demand all of the candy in town, or else we'll release The Serpentine," Melissa explained the plan. "I know what to do my dark lord."
"Ooh! Dark Lord, I like that," Lloyd said with a smile. "Now, let's get going."
Lloyd and Melissa made their way to the village, and when they finally arrived, they saw all of the villagers panicking.
"Ha! Look at that, Melissa, they are all running away from us," Lloyd said with a satisfied smirk.
Melissa heard someone screaming Lord Garmadon's name, "Um, I think they might have us confused with your father."
"Oh, dang," Lloyd said in realization. "Well, we'll just use that to our advantage. Now, go make the announcement of our arrival."
"Roger that," Melissa saluted before making her way to the middle of the village. As she did, she saw four teenagers in different color ninja suits, and she was confused, but she paid no mind to it and made her announcement. "Citizens of Ninjago, get ready to welcome and bow to your new overlord - Lloyd Garmadon!"
"That's right. It is I - Lloyd Garmadon!" Lloyd made his way out from behind a building with his arms raised up high and stood on a fountain. "Me and my second-in-command demand all the candy in town, or else."
The villagers soon realized that there was no real danger, and only two little kids were pulling pranks on them as they marched out of their homes towards the two kids angrily. Lloyd and Melissa realized that they weren't scared anymore and that they were in big trouble.
"Ugh! You heard him, give us the candy, now!" Melissa ordered as she tried to play tough. "Or else we will release The Serpentine on you."
The villagers started booing as Lloyd grabbed a prank can of snakes and opened it. A bunch of rubber snakes came out, but instead of being scared, the villagers responded by throwing rotten vegetables at them.
"Ugh! No, wait, we asked for candy not vegetables," Lloyd complained as he tossed the can lid at them. "I hate vegetables."
"Especially rotten vegetables," Melissa added.
Lloyd and Melissa tried to duck and dodge the rotten vegetables, but then they were attacked by a huge pile that fell on them, and now they were covered in rotten vegetables, and then the four colored ninjas approached them and picked up the two kids.
"Don't worry, folks, we got this," the black ninja announced, "Nothing to see here."
"Hey, let us go!" Melissa said angrily as she tried to break free from the ninjas' grasp.
"Yeah, bow down to us, or suffer our wraths," Lloyd followed.
"So, what are we supposed to do with these kids, spank them?" The red ninja asked.
"That is rather immature to suggest, Kai," the white ninja told the red one. "We are not spanking two small children regardless of their behavior."
"Who's side are you on, Zane?" The blue ninja asked the white ninja.
"I am merely stating my opinion, Jay," Zane said dubbing the blue ninja.
"Yeah, well, they're just kids," the black ninja pointed out. "It wouldn't hurt to do something just this once."
"How about we give the boy a wedgie? How does that sound, Cole?" Kai mused to the black ninja.
"Actually, I have a better idea," Jay said with a smirk as the other four ninjas listened which made Lloyd and Melissa nervous.
"ARGH!" Lloyd and Melissa yelled as they were now hanging on a sign.
Lloyd then glared at them, "You've just made us into your nemesis."
"Yeah, you'll pay for this, you stupid ninjas," Melissa followed before struggling to get free. "Now, get us down from here."
Everyone in the village chuckled as the two trouble-making kids got what they deserved, and then Zane walked up to a candy vendor. He paid for some candy, and then he went back to the others as they took off their hoods revealing their faces.
Cole had black hair and bushy eyebrows, Zane had pale blond hair, Jay had auburn hair, and Kai had spiky brown hair and a scar over his left eye.
"Next time, kids, try paying for your candy," Cole advised.
"Crime doesn't pay, you two," Kai continued. "You can take that to the bank."
Jay ate some cotton candy, "Mmm, cotton candy," he said tauntingly.
Lloyd and Melissa growled in anger and pretty soon, everyone went back to do their own things leaving the two kids still hanging from the sign.
"Well, that's just great," Lloyd groaned in annoyance. "Now, how are we supposed to get down from here?"
"Wait, our hoods are the ones hooked up on this sign," Melissa pointed out noticing she could reach their hoods. "I think I can reach out and unhook us."
Melissa reached out to unhook their hoods from the sign, and Lloyd realized what would happen if she unhooked them.
"Umm, Melissa, before you do that, you might wanna - WOAH!" Lloyd yelled as Melissa unhooked them from the sign, and they both fell into the snowbank and then emerged from the snow, "Warn me."
"Oh, sorry, Lloyd," Melissa apologized.
"It's fine. At least we're free," Lloyd said as he and Melissa dusted the snow off their hoodies. "Now, who were those meddling ninjas?"
Melissa realized who they were, "If I have to guess, those are the ninjas that your uncle assembled."
"Of course, they are," Lloyd rolled his eyes in annoyance. "Well, they are gonna pay for messing with us. Now, let's get outta here before they come back."
Lloyd and Melissa made their way out of Jamanakai Village to figure out a plan to get their revenge on those ninjas.
Meanwhile, outside of Jamanakai Village, the ninjas went to their respective dragons and were about to saddle up and head back to the monastery. Kai jumped on his saddle, but he stepped on a bag that dropped a scroll from inside and fell to the ground. Zane saw it and picked it up as Kai followed.
"Huh, I don't remember packing this here," Kai said as he took the scroll from Zane in surprise.
"That's Sensei's bag," Zane pointed out in realization while pointing at the bag attached to Kai's saddle. "You must've accidentally taken it in the rush."
Kai unraveled the scroll as the others came up to him.
"What is it?" Jay asked in wonder.
"It's a scroll, windbag," Kai retorted.
"I know it's a scroll, but what does it say?" Jay asked. "It's written in chicken scratch."
Zane took a closer look at it, "not chicken scratch, the ancient language of our ancestors."
"Well, can you read it?" Kai asked.
"Well, I can try," Zane said as he looked closely at the scroll and he saw the symbols. "This symbol means prophecy."
"Prophecy?" Jay asked in confusion.
"It means it tells the future," Kai answered.
"Of course, ha-ha!" Jay chuckled sheepishly. "I knew that."
On the scroll were two ninjas - one dressed in purple while the other was dressed in green and right behind them was the Yin-Yang symbol while four other ninjas circled around them.
"'Two Ninjas will rise above the others and become The Green and Purple Ninjas also known as The Ninjas of Yin and Yang'," Zane translated. "'These two Ninjas are the balance between light and dark with The Green Ninja of Yin controlling light while The Purple Ninja of Yang controls darkness, and together, these two ninjas are destined to defeat The Dark Lord and save all of Ninjago.'"
"Oh, look a picture," Jay said.
"Dark Lord?" Cole asked in confusion. "Hold on, you think they mean Lord Garmadon?"
Kai realized something, "Wait a minute, is that us?" He asked as he saw multicolor ninjas that looked like them. "Is anyone else thinking what I'm thinking?"
"Like, how good I'm gonna look in green?" Jay asked with a smirk behind his hood.
"Ha! Isn't it obvious that I'm gonna be The Green Ninja?" Kai questioned.
"The color obviously suits me," Jay protested. "You can be The Purple Ninja though."
"I prefer green more than purple," Kai retorted.
"Technically, I am the best," Zane said.
"Everyone, stop it!" Cole called out as he walked up to them. "Remember why Sensei brought us together in the first place, we're a team," he reminded them. "We weren't meant to see this and probably for good reason. Now, come on, let's head home. We got training to do," he told them as they all mounted on their dragons.
"It's about time I added some finesse to my routine," Jay said as he climbed on his dragon, Wisp.
"Well, I could use some exercise," Zane said as he jumped his dragon, Shard.
"Yeah, I gotta work on some new moves," Cole said as he got on his dragon, Rocky.
They all flew back to the monastery, but unbeknownst to them, Kai remained with his dragon, Flame, and he was deep in thought about the scroll.
"Could I be The Green Ninja?" Kai asked himself.
Sometime after Lloyd and Melissa's encounter with the ninjas, they were walking through the snowy mountains, and they were glad that they were wearing hoodies to keep them warm especially since it started snowing hard.
"Stupid ninjas," Lloyd muttered as he kicked a rock. "We'll show them who they are dealing with."
"Yeah, but that's gonna be a problem for us," Melissa said.
"What makes you say that?" Lloyd asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Because, from the looks of it, those ninjas look like they are teenagers," Melissa pointed out. "So, how are two small kids gonna take down four teenage ninjas?"
Lloyd realized Melissa was right and that they had no idea how to defeat four teenage ninjas, "We'll think of something, hopefully. Uhh, hey, how about we go to Doomsday Comics and see if we can get any ideas there?" He suggested.
"That sounds like a good idea," Melissa agreed.
Lloyd kicked the rock he was kicking, and then they both came to a screeching halt as they heard a clanging sound coming from up ahead of them.
"What was that?" Melissa asked.
"I don't know," Lloyd shrugged, "but let's go find out."
They both rushed up and saw something, and Lloyd and Melissa gave each other a nervous look. As they went closer and moved some snow away, before their eyes they saw a snake-engraved stone on the ground.
"What is that?" Lloyd asked.
"I don't know," Melissa answered.
Melissa saw a snake-like lever and she shared a nervous look with Lloyd before she pulled it, and then the hatch began to open which released some green mist, and then the two kids lost their footing falling into the hatch with a scream, tumbling across the floor, and plummeting right on top of each other with Melissa on top of Lloyd with their faces very close to each other.
They both saw the position they were in and blushed furiously as Melissa quickly got off, "Uhh, s-sorry about that, Lloyd."
"I-I-It's fine," Lloyd said sheepishly before he cleared his throat and changed the subject. "Anyway, where are we and what is this place?"
"I don't know," Melissa said as they both saw they were in some kind of ice chamber, "but it does look kinda cool, no pun intended."
"You are out of your minds to venture ssso far away from home, little onesss," a deep voice was heard.
Lloyd and Melissa turned around and saw a dark blue cobra man with yellow and white markings and a long tail holding a golden staff appearing out of the shadows. Lloyd and Melissa backed away nervously as they realized who this man was.
"Y-you're a... you're a, a, a Serpentine," Lloyd stammered frighteningly as the dark blue snake closed up on them.
"And, from the looks of it, y-you're a Hypnobrai," Melissa said fearfully. "The Serpentine with the ability to hypnotize anyone and put them into a mind control state with a look into their eyes."
"Yessss, correct," the dark blue snake said with a smirk as he looked straight at the two kids with his tail rattling. "Look into my eyessss, children, give up your minds," he said as his eyes started swirling. "I, General Sssslithraa, will control both of you."
Lloyd and Melissa started to feel dizzy from Slithraa's hypnosis. Melissa resisted long enough before she grabbed Lloyd and made him duck down, and they both closed their eyes as Slithraa's hypnosis reflected back to him from a block of ice as he groaned dizzily.
Lloyd and Melissa opened their eyes and saw Slithraa looking dizzy, "Wait, what the heck just happened?" Lloyd asked
Melissa turned around and saw the block of ice right behind them, "It looks like he accidentally hypnotized himself," she pointed out and her eyes widened as she had an idea. "Which means, he's now under OUR control."
Lloyd realized that too as he and Melissa shared an evil smirk, and then they turned to the hypnotized General, "Actually, I, Lloyd Garmadon, and my second in command, Melissa Zhau, will control you from now on, General Slithraa."
"I mean, it seems fair to us," Melissa said with a shrug and a smirk on her face. "Considering that we have freed you from this prison, it seems only fair that you do our bidding in return."
"What shall you have usss do, massstersss?" Slithraa asked me he gave a bow to Lloyd and Melissa as the hypnotism had already taken effect.
"Us?" Lloyd and Melissa asked in unison as they caught what Slithraa said.
Slithraa gestured around them as Lloyd and Melissa saw multiple snake men and women like Slithraa walked out only, unlike Slithraa, they had legs instead of tails.
"Lloyd, do you realize what we just did?" Melissa asked in shock. "We didn't just take control of a Serpentine, we took control of the Hypnobrai General tribe leader which means..."
"We have our own army of snakes," Lloyd finished with an exciting smile as he and Melissa let out their own evil laughs.
Meanwhile, the ninjas had returned to the monastery, and they put their dragons back in their stable as they started climbing back up and making their way to the training course.
"So, it is decided then, we all agree," Jay spoke. "The prophecy states that two of us are gonna become the Green and Purple Ninjas, and the issue will not rest until it is decided."
"Might I suggest a tournament?" Zane suggested. "Last Ninja standing is the best."
"And, the winner will be declared The Green Ninja while the runner-up will be The Purple Ninja," Kai finished eagerly. "I love it."
They entered the monastery, but when they went inside, they saw a teenage girl with a bob cut dressed in a red outfit with flame marks and a dark red belt going through the training course as she tried to complete it, but then she got hit in the head with an incoming axe as she fell to the floor.
"Hehe, hey, Nya," Jay nervously chuckled as he went to check on the girl he had a major crush on. "Still trying to beat your brother's speed record?" He asked as he helped her stand.
"Ah, Yeah, I'm getting there," Nya answered as she stood. "Heard what happened in town, just a false alarm?" She guessed.
"Yeah, just some kids trying to cause some trouble," Kai answered as he came up to Nya placing his hand on her shoulder. "Uhh, but we're gonna need the space, sorry, sis."
Cole went to the cabinet, tossed some armor out, and hurled a helmet at Jay bonking him in the head which caused Nya to chuckle.
"Two matches, then the winners of each will face off for the title," Cole announced, "Armors for our own protection. It's time to see what these babies can do," he said as he raised his scythe up with a smile.
"Hey, Nya, wanna stay and watch me mop the floor with them?" Kai asked his sister.
"No, thanks," Nya shook her head. "I think I'll just visit Jamanakai Village. Knock yourselves out."
Nya walked out of the monastery as the boys wore the armor and the tournament began.
"Alright, first up - Kai vs Jay!" Cole announced as the two ninjas faced each other and drew their golden weapons. "NINJA-GO, AHH!" Cole screamed as Kai and Jay clashed with each other.
The two switched spots as Jay twirled his nunchucks around while showing off some moves while Kai raised his sword, but as Jay kept spinning his nunchucks, they gave off a quick electrical shock that zapped him out of his stance.
Kai flipped over Jay as the two clashed weapons and Kai ran across the wall before he fired a fireball at Jay which knocked the wind out of him. Kai looked at his sword in awe before he gave a smile.
A few minutes later, it was Cole and Zane's turn.
"OK, next up - Cole versus Zane!" Kai announced as Jay sat on the bench with a glum look knowing that he wouldn't be the best one to obtain the title of The Green or Purple Ninja.
"NINJA-GO!" Kai announced again as he flipped away.
Zane and Cole drew their weapons. They did some moves before Cole charged at Zane as he swiped his scythe at him, but Zane jumped up as Cole accidentally sliced a training pole which surprised him as he charged at Zane again clashing weapons.
Zane then jumped over Cole and he threw one of his shurikens at him which landed on the ground as Cole placed his feet on it, ice slowly started to form up his leg but Cole ignored it smirking.
Zane brought out his other shuriken and he twirled it around before charging at Cole but as he was about to move Cole realized he couldn't. He looked down to see the ice spread to his legs preventing him from moving as he blocked the incoming shuriken strikes from all sides as Zane circled him.
Zane moved in for the deciding blow as Cole blocked his strike and Zane flipped around him, but Cole used his scythe to trip Zane over and aimed his weapon at him making Cole the winner despite being trapped in ice.
Pretty soon, after getting Cole free from the ice, Zane sat on the steps beside Jay as Zane gave a defeated look.
"For the prize and title of Best Ninja while the other becomes second best blah, blah, Kai vs Cole etcetera, etcetera, hooray, Ninja-go," Jay said dully as he was no longer interested in the tournament because he didn't win.
Cole and Kai clashed their weapons as they blocked or dodged strikes. Cole flipped back before he struck his scythe's blade into the ground which created a shockwave that blew Kai back to the main training pole. Jay and Zane cheered for Cole.
"Ha, nice," Jay commented.
"Impressive," Zane followed.
"Yes!" Cole cheered as he pumped his fist in the air.
But, Kai got up with a growl of frustration before he did Spinjitzu, but then he suddenly stopped as he felt himself losing control of his sword as it started shaking.
"It's too hot!" Kai cried out as his sword lit in flames.
"Kai, your sword!" Cole called out in shock.
"It's burning," Zane said in astonishment.
"Fire!" Jay exclaimed.
Kai tried to regain control of his sword by doing Spinjitzu, but he stopped again as he dropped the sword. The fire started to spread across the training course surrounding them in flames, and the ninjas tried to put out the fire but had no luck.
Just then, an old man with a long white beard wearing a rice hat and a white robe with a black belt on it came out from the monastery. He heard the commotion and was shocked by what he saw, and with a fierce look, the old man walked through the flames and grabbed Zane's shurikens as they floated around.
And then, suddenly, the shurikens responded to the old man as they came together and spun around the air, and released icey particles over the fire putting it out while the ninjas watched in awe while also putting out the fire that was on Jay's rear end. The shurikens then came back to the old man as he glared at the ninjas.
"What were you thinking?!" The old man yelled in disbelief.
"Uh, we were trying to figure out who was gonna be The Green and Purple Ninjas, Sensei Wu," Jay explained before Zane hit him on the head. "OW! Uh, heh, did I say Green and Purple Ninjas?" He asked nervously at his mistake. "No, sorry, what I said was lean and durple," he corrected, but the damage was already done.
"You were not supposed to see this," Wu said as he shook his head.
Kai stepped forward, "Look, Sensei, we just wanna know which one of us are the chosen ones to be The Ninjas of Yin and Yang."
"None of you if you don't unlock your full potential," Wu said as he began to walk back into the monastery.
"But, my sword, it was so bright," Kai told him. "Is this what you meant by unlocking our powers?"
"You are only at the beginning, and the road is long and winding, but yes, this is what I meant," Wu answered as he kept walking. "If this is what it must take for you to train, then so be it," Wu glanced at his students, "But none of you are near the level of what it takes to be The Ninjas of Yin and Yang," he finished before walking back inside leaving the ninjas deep in thought.
At Jamanakai Village, Nya was looking around the stands to see what she could find, but then she heard people screaming and running away in terror. Confused by what was happening, she turned around and saw Lloyd and Melissa walking out of a candy store. Lloyd was carrying a wheelbarrow filled with candy.
"Take whatever you all like, but the candy is ours!" Lloyd ordered.
"You heard him, take it all!" Melissa followed as she and Lloyd gave a sinister cackle.
Nya raised an eyebrow, but then she noticed something that made her eyes widen in fear. Coming up from behind Lloyd and Melissa were the Hypnobrai following them as they looked around the villagers. Slithraa used his powers to hypnotize the villagers as they groaned and walked around like zombies while Nya hid behind one of the stands, and with the villagers hypnotized, the Hypnobrai began looting the village of its values.
"This makes no sesenssse, General Slithraa," one of the Hypnobrai's approached his general. "I mean, I can underssstand raiding an entire town for anything we want, but under the command of two little children who hasss desssiresss for sssweets?"
Slithraa turned to the snake with a firm look which caused him to flinch, "You will do asss I command, Skalesss, because I hold the ssstaff," Slithraa reminded as he placed his staff in front of Skales firmly, "And let me remind you, that the boy and girl ssset us free from our prissson, and honor demandssss that we repay our debt to them."
At the monastery, the ninjas were now training properly as Wu was meditating inside, and in his smoke vision, he saw Lloyd and Melissa pillaging Jamanakai Village, and to his horror, the Hypnobrai Tribe was aiding them.
Wu opened his eyes in shock as he rushed to the training grounds, "The Serpentine are back. Everyone in Jamanakai Village is in danger!"
The ninjas turned to face him, "Calm down, Sensei, we were just there," Cole said calmly. "It was just two little kids pretending to be-"
"The Spirit Smoke does not lie," Wu interrupted him. "An ancient evil has been released."
"And, Nya's there right now," Kai remembered.
"Nya?" Jay asked in great concern before he gave a brave look.
The ninjas quickly rushed to the dragon stables as Cole opened the hatches and this time the ninjas managed to mount their dragons a lot better than last time.
"Stay close and stay together," Kai told the others.
"Would we do it any other way?" Cole joked as they flew out and headed back to Jamanakai Village.
At Jamanakai Village, the remaining unaffected villagers ran in panic while Lloyd and Melissa were in the square again as they were really hyper obviously from the amount of candy that they had eaten in the raid already.
Lloyd gave a chuckle, "Oh, I'm never coming down from this sugar high."
"Neither am I. This is so amazing. Woo-hoo!" Melissa cheered as she was feeling it as well, "And everyone at Darkley's said that we don't have what it takes to be evil."
"Well, who's laughing now? We are," Lloyd said as he and Melissa laughed excitedly before the ninjas appeared in front of them.
"Sorry to bust you and your little girlfriend's buzz, little Garmadon," Cole mocked.
"But, it's already past your bedtime," Jay spoke up next.
"So, we either do this the easy way or the hard way," Kai finished.
"OK, first of all, I am not Lloyd's girlfriend," Melissa said in an embarrassed tone with a faint blush on her cheeks.
"And, second, we prefer the hard way," Lloyd said with an evil smirk, "Because, unlike last time, we didn't come alone."
"Get them!" Lloyd and Melissa called.
The ninjas were confused before they looked behind the two kids and saw The Hypnobrai as Slithraa rattled his tail from Lloyd and Melissa's command.
"Sssseize them!" Slithraa ordered his troops as they charged after the ninjas.
"The Serpentine, they're real?" Kai asked in shock.
The ninjas were now surrounded by snakes as the hypnotized villagers closed in on them.
"It's not just them we have to worry about," Cole said as the controlled villagers closed in on them. "The whole village has been hypnotized."
Jay brought out his nunchucks and started spinning them, but then Zane grabbed him before he could do anything.
"No, our weapons are too unstable," Zane told him. "We could do more harm than good."
"Well, I guess that leaves us with...RUN!" Jay yelled out as they started parkouring away from the Hypnobrai and hypnotized villagers.
"Ha! Ha! We got them on the run," Lloyd laughed. "Nothing can stop us now."
"Oh, yeah, we bad," Melissa sang mockingly.
The ninjas jumped stealthily over the rooftops of the village to hide behind a wagon in the alley. As they caught their breaths, Nya popped up from behind some crates.
"Nya, you're OK!" Kai said in relief.
"Barely," Nya answered. "Those snakes hypnotized everyone in town, and have looted all of their food and money."
"Mind control, how is that possible?" Jay asked.
"When you hear them rattle their tails, don't look them in the eyes," Nya advised. "That's how they get you."
"Well, what are we supposed to do?" Jay questioned as he turned towards the others. "We can't use our weapons, and now, we have to fight with our eyes closed. Ha, perfect," he rhetorically said.
"And, not only that, we can't hurt the villagers since they are under their control," Zane added. "How do we snap them out of it?"
"Actually, there might be a way," Nya spoke up as they turned to her. "The snake with the tail and the staff is the general. He's the one in charge, and if we can get the staff from him, we can save everyone with the anti-venom."
"Nya's right," Cole spoke up. "Look, guys, let's forget about the whole Green and Purple Ninjas thing, and start focusing on protecting the people."
The others were deep in thought as Kai spoke, "You're right, guys. Let's make Sensei proud, the four of us as a team," he said with determination.
The others nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, now you're talking!" Cole cheered.
"Oh, and Nya, you can be our honorary member," Jay said to her.
"Gee, thanks," Nya said sarcastically as she crossed her arms.
The ninjas and Nya jumped over buildings to avoid being seen by The Serpentine, so they could get to the square, and then Kai jumped on the ground as The Hypnobrai started to surround him.
"You wanna play?" Kai asked. "How about a little Spinjitzu, NINJA-GO!"
Kai did his Spinjitzu at the two Serpentine before he bumped into a fruit stand and bananas fell onto the ground. As he continued to do Spinjitzu, Kai slipped on one of the bananas and hit a wall before he fell onto the ground.
"OK, we're really out of shape," Jay facepalmed when he saw what happened to Kai.
As the two Serpentine laughed at Kai, the fire ninja quickly got back up, and punched the two of them that were behind him, but then he saw Lloyd and Melissa running away with the wheelbarrow of candy.
"Consider this a warning, ninja!" Lloyd called.
"Yeah, you can't stop us!" Melissa agreed as she and Lloyd let out their signature chuckles.
Zane was on the rooftop as he threw his shurikens in front of Lloyd and Melissa which caused ice to form, causing the two to trip themselves, and their wheelbarrow of candy spilled out of it.
"NINJA-GO!" Zane Spinjitzued in front of the two kids after they toppled their wheelbarrow.
"Our candy!" Lloyd and Melissa cried out in unison as the candy spilled to the ground and Zane appeared in front of them.
"Sensei was right, 'never put off tomorrow what can be done today'," Zane said, now understanding what he meant. "We should've dealt with you two properly the first time around."
"Uhh, Lloyd, what do we do now?" Melissa asked nervously.
"The only thing we can do," Lloyd said turning to Slithraa, "Retreat!"
Slithraa heard the command as he turned to his tribe, "Retreat!"
Lloyd, Melissa, and The Hypnobrai began to fall back before Cole jumped Slithraa and kicked him multiple times making him drop his staff out of his scaly hands, and he fell in front of Cole.
"Go ahead, give me a reason," Cole dared the general.
Slithraa looked at his staff and Cole before slithering away in fear as Cole picked up the staff and inspected it, but as he moved it out of his field of vision, he saw Skales in front of him as his tail started to rattle.
"Look into my eyessss, ninja," Skales said as he used his powers on Cole as the earth Ninja felt dizzy. "I control you."
Cole's eyes turned red and began to swirl as his mind became foggy, "You... Control..." He drowned before he heard someone calling out to him.
"Cole!"
Cole snapped out of his hypnosis just in time as he saw Nya jump-kick Skales in the face. The Hypnobrai rubbed his face before retreating with the rest of his tribe. Nya saw Cole walking away in a daze.
"Cole, where are you going?" Nya called out to him as Cole turned to her. "You have the anti-venom."
Cole snapped out of his trance as he saw the staff in his hands, "by golly, you're right!"
"Quick, use the staff on the fountain," Nya told him as she pointed at the fountain next to them. "It'll spread the anti-venom across the village and snap everyone out of it."
Cole nodded as he ran up to the fountain, jumping to it and lodging the staff into the center as the mist began to spread out across the village. When the villagers inhaled the mist, it snapped them out of the Hypnobrai's control.
As the sun set, the ninjas regrouped and Nya was able to save some of the villagers' riches and food while The Serpentine escaped with the rest. The ninjas saw Wu entering the village to check up on them as Kai held up the staff.
"I'm sorry, Sensei," Kai apologized in a guilty tone. "If we had dealt with Lloyd and Melissa before they became a problem, none of this would've happened."
Wu nodded in understanding, "Even lessons learned the hard way are lessons learned." He said as he took the staff from Kai and he looked around in concern. "Hmm, a great evil has been released. I fear troubling times will come. This is only the beginning," he said as the others huddled closer.
"Then, we will train and be ready for The Serpentine," Zane said.
"It may not be Lord Garmadon, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't bring our A Game," Cole said next in determination.
"Help us train, help us realize our full potential," Kai pleaded as he held Wu's arm.
"Yeah, teach us the secrets behind the Weapons of Spinjitzu," Jay spoke next.
Wu hummed, "There is much to teach," he said as they started walking away. "We must return to the monastery."
Nya gave a sigh, "When am I ever gonna get my own dragon," she asked feeling completely left out.
"Patience, Nya, your time will come," Wu assured as he turned to where Lloyd and Melissa went. Oh dear nephew I really hope that you will understand that you're making a big mistake and that your father wouldn't want this from you, he thought before continuing to follow the ninjas back to the Monastery.
Back at the Hypnobrai Tomb, the snakes regrouped in their old tomb. Lloyd and Melissa were now lying on the ground as they felt their sugar rush wearing off.
"Ugh, candy," Lloyd groaned, "I need candy, ugh."
"I don't understand why you need more candy, Lloyd, ugh," Melissa groaned. "I don't think I should have another candy for as long as I live... Well, maybe just a lollipop or a Skittle."
Meanwhile, Skales and Slithraa were having a conversation regarding Lloyd and Melissa while Skales had a block of ice on his face where Nya kicked him.
"The boy and girl ssset usss free, Skales," Slithraa reminded.
"They are human children," Skales pointed out as he placed his free hand on his general's shoulder. "While we are grateful to them for granting usss our freedom, they are ssstill children and they are not one of usss."
Slithraa brushed Skales' hand off his shoulder, "I may not have the ssstaff, but I am ssstill your General, ssstand down!" he ordered.
Skales realized that he couldn't talk Slithraa out of it as he walked away, and then a female Hypnobrai with pink and grey scales went up to him.
"Skales, we all know that he isss under the boy and girl's ssspell. Slithraa should've known better than to use hisss powers in a place of mirrors like thissss," the female Hypnobrai said frustratedly, "but you are his sssecond in command and ssstill, you can't do anything to sssnap him out of it."
Skales just remained calm, "Now, wasss not the time, Selma. I still hold the key to freeing our general and dessstroying the ninjas, and then everyone will sssee who isss truly in control," he said as he gave a sinister chuckle.
In Skales' eyes, he could see the ninjas in the rec room of the Monastery as they were discussing their plan to prepare for The Serpentine and Lloyd and Melissa's future attack.
As it turned out, Skales was seeing through Cole's eyes who was almost hypnotized by him during the raid, not enough to control him, but enough to see what he saw so he could know the ninjas' next moves.
To be continued...
A/N: And that's the first chapter based on the story "Ninjago: Children of Yin and Yang," by jesus gonzalez21, but I added my OC Melissa Zhau from our previous Ninjago story "The Origins of Lloyd Garmadon and Melissa Zhau". And if you're confused about who she is, read that story and you'll understand, and she's gonna play a major part in being Lloyd's best friend and the many adventures to come. Leave a review and tell us what you think.
