Beginning A/N: Yeah, so, way back I tried to write a similar type of story before, but the idea never really got off the ground. So, here I am trying again. The premise is pretty much the same, but hopefully the plot will be decent. Please note: I DO NOT KNOW WHEN THIS STORY WILL GET UPDATED AGAIN. I HAVE A LOT GOING ON IN LIFE RIGHT NOW, AND I DON'T ALWAYS HAVE TIME TO WRITE. Okay? On to the chapter. Thank you for understanding.

Disclaimer: I don't own Boruto: The Next Generation or Bakugan Battle Brawlers!

Looking up at the sky, a child with brown hair and eyes wearing a red and yellow ensemble looked up at the sky as glowing trading cards slowly rained down from the sky.

My whole world changed one day when all these random cards started raining down everywhere.

The boy caught one of these cards which turned black with white lines and overlapping pyramids with six elemental symbols on one side. The symbols represented the elements of fire, earth, light, darkness, water, and wind.

At first they seemed harmless enough, so a bunch of us kids invented this cool new game.

Two balls the size of large marbles, one brown with orange markings and the other white with pale yellow markings, roll onto a card and open up into tiny figurines and in a flash of light, they transform into giant creatures of similar color schemes! One is a humanoid with giant clawed hands, and the other is an anthropomorphic falcon! And they're about to fight!

That's when we realized those cards weren't so harmless after all. They were packed with incredible powers from another world!

Various monsters of varying elemental powers are seen doing battle against one another as this new game has just reached a whole new level.

My name is Dan, and together with my friends, Runo…

A young girl with cyan blue hair done up in twin-tails is shown.

Marucho…

Next is a little blonde boy with glasses.

Julie…

The next to be shown is a girl with hazel-gray eyes, silver-white hair, and dark skin wearing a pink and white ensemble.

Not to mention Mister Hotshot, himself, Shun…

Shun is a boy with mid-back length, straight black hair that's tied in a low ponytail, brown eyes, and wearing purple and black.

Alice…

Next is a fourteen-year-old girl with ginger red hair, porcelain skin, and hazel-brown eyes. Her outfit consists of a yellow dress with white shorts, a green blouse, and small white and green colored boots. She has a pinkish-red bracelet on her left wrist as well.

And our newest recruit, Boruto…

Finally, a boy with spiky blonde hair, blue eyes, and whisker marks on his face is shown. He wears what looks like old-time ninja equipment, and a black cloak with red clouds on it.

We are… the Bakugan Battle Brawlers!

Boruto is seen standing side-by-side with the rest of the Battle Brawlers as their Bakugan Guardians, Drago, Tigrerra, Preyas, Gorem, Skyrus, Hydranoid, and Tannin, stand behind them as Drago and Tannin release an ear-piercing roar to the heavens.

Bakugan: One goal, two worlds!

(Opening Theme Song: Bakugan Battle Brawlers)

Dan and Boruto are transported into the pocket dimension where Bakugan Battles take place. Both Pyrus brawlers look determined as they face down the sworn enemy of brawlers everywhere; Masquerade and his Darkus Bakugan.

What are you gonna do?

The odds are stacked against you…

All three players throw their gate cards onto the field as flashes of various Bakugan from previous battles are seen. Bakugan such as Juggernoid, Robotallion, Garganoid, Serpenoid and Preyas.

Backed against the wall…

Gotta give it your all!

Dan and Masquerade throw their Bakugan causing Drago and Reaper to appear in their true forms, ready for combat.

This is the final stand…

As Masquerade brings out Darkus Hydranoid, Boruto sends out his own Bakugan Partner. A dragon Bakugan of the Pyrus element known as Tannin. The two mighty beasts glare at each other as they're primed and ready to fight.

The power's in your hand!

Two worlds collide…

On the inside…

In the human world, Boruto looks to the sky as visions of the Infinity Core and the Silent Core and the destruction of Vestroia flash across his vision. He feels a hand on his shoulder and looks back to see Dan, Runo, Marucho, Julie, Shun, and Alice, along with all of their other friends and fellow brawlers are smiling and showing that they're there beside him.

You've gotta fight for what's right…

Before it's gone(gone… gone…)

Boruto smiles back and as the shadow of Naga appears in the sky, he throws Tannin into battle as the scene freeze frames.

This is Bakugan!

Prologue

Night had long since descended upon Konohagakure no Sato, or the Village Hidden in the Leaves, as it's more commonly called. Although, with how much it has expanded along with its advanced technology, it's more of a city now. But they continue to call it a village more out of tradition. The inhabitants of the ninja village were all asleep for the night, with the exception of several ANBU agents who were patrolling to ensure the village's safety. Especially after the most recent Chunin Exams and the surprise invasion that followed.

Ninjas from the Hidden Sound Village had attacked towards the tail-end of the exam, but this time they were under Kabuto's command rather than that of Orochimaru. The former second-in-command to the former Snake Sannin had grown far stronger due to experimenting on himself and also mastering the Senjutsu of the Snake Summons, and thus had become a much more serious threat. Especially since he trained his ninjas to be stronger than just the bare minimum. Unlike Orochimaru who kept most of his ninjas, barring his absolute elites, just under where they should have been in terms of power and skill in order to better control them.

Of course, fear is also a motivator he used against them, but that's beside the point.

Fortunately for the people of Konoha, their Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki, was still in the prime of his life during this invasion and was very powerful. With his ability to create a literal army of Shadow Clones plus his use of Kurama's Chakra, the enemy forces were easily repelled. Though, the rest of the exam has to be canceled as a result.

Unfortunately, this came with its own share of problems.

During the exams, it was discovered that Boruto Uzumaki, the Hokage's eldest child and only son, had what appeared to be an unregistered ninja tool equipped to himself. Naturally, the Hokage didn't take this discovery very well. But rather than giving his son the chance to explain why he had the device and what it was for, he immediately disqualified him from the exams. That was when the Hidden Sound had struck.

And as if that wasn't bad enough, the villagers began to blame Boruto for the attack. They believed that his exposure of using an 'illegal weapon' during the exams and the attack that followed were too conveniently timed for it to be a coincidence.

Speaking of whom, we now find ourselves in the home of the Hokage and his family. More specifically in Boruto's bedroom where the boy was standing over his nightstand having placed a folded letter on it.

Boruto is a fair-skinned boy of lean, well-built frame and short height. He has spiky, blond hair, blue eyes and two whisker markings on each of his cheeks. Overall, he bears a great resemblance to his father. Boruto's hairstyle resembles a leaf, his ahoge serving as the stem. He was currently dressed in a smaller version of Hidden Leaf ANBU armor which consisted of black clothing, a grey flack jacket, metal arm guards and gloves, black ninja sandals, three ninja pouches on his back waist, and finally a katana that was strapped to his hip.

Sighing through his nose, Boruto thought, 'I'm sorry, mom… dad… Himawari… but this is something I have to do. And I have to do it alone. After recent events, I'll never be accepted by this village. I've heard the stories about how the older generation treated dad when he was a kid, and I know that they'll treat me in a similar way after the invasion and the exams.'

He walked over to his closet and pulled out something important to him.

It was his hidden leaf ninja headband.

The headband itself, among ninjas, is considered a badge of adulthood and shows one's loyalty and affiliation towards one's village. He remembered the stories that his father used to tell him and his sister. Stories about how ninja who defected from their villages would put a slash through the symbol of their headband, marking themselves as missing-nins. Particularly, he would talk about a group of S-Rank missing-nins known as the Akatsuki. A group that had almost brought the ninja world to extinction by reviving a powerful beast known as the Ten-Tails.

Boruto stared at the headband for a good minute as if he was internally debating about what he was about to do. Then he looked to the device on his wrist.

What nobody besides Boruto, his granny Tsunade, and maybe Sarada's mom, knew was that this device wasn't a weapon at all. It was actually a new piece of medical technology that was meant to help heal a person's chakra coils. Neither Boruto or Tsunade knew the cause, but for some reason his Chakra was being disrupted at an alarming rate. His coils were expanding and his chakra was becoming dangerously dense and powerful. So much so that it would have led to chakra poisoning if he didn't get help. So Tsunade placed that machine on Boruto in hopes that it would help to at least lessen the problem until she could find the root cause.

Unfortunately for Boruto, his father had jumped to conclusions and immediately declared it an illegal weapon and disqualified him from the chunin exams.

Boruto wouldn't be surprised if, had the invasion not happened, his old man would have dropped him from the shinobi program altogether. Then again, at this point, the villagers would probably like that. So he narrowed his eyes and steeled his resolve. He wasn't about to give them the satisfaction. Taking out a kunai knife, Boruto hesitated for just a moment before closing his eyes.

"Forgive me…" he mumbled.

And in one quick motion, he scratched a horizontal slash straight through his headband's leaf symbol and tied it around his forehead. He had just branded himself a missing-nin.

Boruto quickly placed on a mask like the ones that he's seen old man Kakashi wear, which covers his face from the nose down in order to hide his easily identifying whisker marks, and then threw on a black cloak. As he opened his bedroom window and suppressed his chakra signature he knew that there was no going back now.

'Mom, Dad, Himawari… forgive me, but this is something that I have to do. And I must do it alone.'

And so, taking one last look at the room he's had for his whole young life, Boruto closed the window behind him and disappeared into the night. His disappearance wouldn't be discovered until morning, and by the time search parties would be sent out, he would already have a substantial head start.

But this isn't where his story ends.

It is just the beginning…

***To Be Continued…***

Ending A/N: And here it is, the revamped version of the original story. Hopefully, I can really get it off the ground. I have once again commissioned Weirdomon over on Twitter to draw Boruto's partner Bakugan for me. It's not ready yet, but it's in the works, so I'll let you all know when it's ready for viewing. It will be both on Weirdomon's Twitter and on my Deviantart gallery when it's finished, so you can go and check it out then. With that, thank you all so much for reading, but that's all I have for now. See you later, my hatchlings!
