Aaron Hotchner, that is a name that doesn't go unknown. He is a former prosecutor, and now he is the chief of the BAU at the FBI. His wife, Hailey, was murdered about a year ago by a serial killer that nearly killed him a few months before that. Although, they were going through a divorce, he still loved her. They had chemistry, she was his high school sweetheart, and most importantly she is the mother of their child. Jack, Hailey, and Aaron's 5-year-old son was the most important thing to them. Jack knew what his father did for a living, and he thought it was cool. His saw it as his father was out saving the world. He had a real life superhero as a father. Hailey died protecting him, and she would do it over again if she could. The First year, without Hailey, was hard for both Aaron and Jack. Aaron was adjusting to being a single father to a now 6-year-old son, and Jack was adjusting to living with his father full time and not being able to see his mother again. There were sleepless nights and a lot of crying, but they eventually got through the first year together. Aaron also had his team to help him out for being one of the hardest things that he and his son will have to go through. JJ, Emily, Derek, Rossi, Spencer, and Penelope were there for them whenever they needed something. Aaron was extremely grateful for them. He had a really supportive team.

Emily Prentiss... She is a woman of true mystery. She graduated from Yale University and did some work for the CIA. Although, no one knows about the work for the CIA, she let her colleges know that desk duty in Chicago. She has a good reason to keep the CIA a secret, but we'll get into that at a later time. Then she mysteriously showed up at the FBI and kept persisting that she belonged in the FBI. Hotch though, he wasn't about to just let her have the position. Hotch told her sternly that she couldn't just show up at the FBI and demand a position, and Emily took that as a challenge. She wanted to prove herself. She needed to prove that she was right for the position and that she would be a good fit for the team. After some persisting, she in the end got what she deserved. She proved herself and proved that she was a good fit for the team. Emily is the daughter of an ambassador and her father died a few years ago. After losing her father, Emily thought it wouldn't have much of an impact on her since she and her father didn't have much of a relationship, but truth was, it was killing her on the inside. She missed her dad and would do anything to have him back, but she could've figure out why she felt the way that she did, even though she only saw her dad a few times a year it seemed. Emily would never show how she truly felt because she was always told that she was weak if she ever showed how she was truly feeling, so she hid her feelings in front of other people but was her true self when she was home alone and no one in sight. Over the years, the team always told her that showing how you truly feel isn't weak and in the end it would make you stronger, but she found out hard to truly express how she felt because of how her mother drilled it into her.

When Emily arrived at the BAU, she was surprised to see Aaron. Although to others, this was the first time that they met but between the two of them, they have met before. Before working as a prosecutor, Aaron did some work for the ambassador. He was security at some of the events that her mother held at the house. He knew who she was the moment that he saw her, sure she looked a few years older but nonetheless, she was still as beautiful as the day that he met her. A bunch of memories flooded his memory when he saw her in his office. The memory of Emily getting caught sneaking out during one of her mother's parties was a memory that he held on too. That's the night he really got to know her. Hear her laugh and got to know her personality. He knew At that moment, it seemed ludicrous, he knew that she was the one for him. It was like love at first sight, and he wanted to get to know her more, but his heart sunk when one afternoon, he was on his way to her mother's house for a party, he had found out that Emily had left. He couldn't ask where she was, he didn't want to rise any red flags. Not that they did anything, but he knew how her mother was and didn't want to raise an eyebrow. All he knew was that she left, and he didn't know where she was. He felt sad, he didn't even get a chance to say goodbye to her. He had so much that he wanted to say to her, but he couldn't say it, she was gone. After a few month's went by, the feeling of hope that she would come back grew less and less. He knew that she probably wasn't going to come back, and he had to accept that. It would be years before they would meet again.

The night that she had met Aaron, she had a plan to leave and not come back. But when she had met him, it's like the whole world stopped. It felt like he could see through her and see her beauty instead of what everyone else saw. For the first time, sparks flew when she met him. She considered staying for him. She, too, wanted to get to know him more. It was like they were both feeling the same way, but no one said a word. When the night ended, she was sad. Yes, she was embarrassed that Aaron had caught her trying to escape, but she didn't want the night to end. He was different from all the other guys that she had met. But after walking back to her bedroom, her mother caught up with her and at that moment, she knew that she had to leave.

"Emily dear"

"Yes mother?" She asked irritatedly

"How was the party?"

"Lovely mother, I'm going to get out of this dress and go to bed. Goodnight mother."

"Emily, wait, I know you lied to me. I know that you weren't at the party. Nicholas told his mother who told me that he caught you with the security guard, Mr. Hotchner I believe."

"He was helping me out, mother, nothing more. Now, like I said, I'm going to go to bed."

"Emily! This isn't a joke, you cannot go further with him. He's just security. Your father would not be proud of you if he knew that you were hanging out with the security."

"Mother, oh please, don't bring father into this. He probably wouldn't even care, I only saw him like 3 times a year, and I'm an adult, I can date whoever I want. "

"Emily"

"No, don't Emily me. Why is it that you have to have full control over my life? You have to choose who I date, and he has to have some kind of perfection for your approval? I don't understand this. You've always had your neck in my business. It needs to stop. I'm living my life, not yours. You chose what you wanted to do with your life, but you can't with mine. I'm an adult now, and I can make my own decision."

"Emily, you're making poor decisions, you need help."

"No, mother, you need help. I'm sorry that I'm not the daughter you wanted. " She then slammed the door in her mother's face and packed her bags. She didn't know why, but started to cry. She knew that her and her mother never got a long, but not only did she lose her father, but she just lost her mother as well. Emily knew that she had one more person to talk to before she left. She had to see him, and she had to talk to him. She knew that her mother would never tell her where he lived or even his phone number, but she knew that she had to see him. After a few hours, Emily came out her bedroom and went into her mother's study and looked into her things until she found her notebook with his phone number in it.

"Okay, hmm. where would she put her notebook? " She spoke to herself.

"Come on Emily, think!" She said to herself

"Aha!" She said to herself when she opened the secret compartment in her desk with the notebook in it.

She quickly wrote the number and the address down and escaped. She took one last glance at the house before she left because she knew that she wasn't going to come back.

She looked at the clock and saw that it was almost 2 am. She knew that it would be a long shot but she knew that she needed to see him. She got into her car and drove to his address. When she arrived, she went up to his door and knocked. but no answer. She knocked again but again no one answered. She then pulled out her phone and dialed his phone number but it went straight to voicemail. She felt discouraged and hung up the phone. She turned around and started to walk back to her car when she heard a voice.

"Excuse me Ma'm. Can I help You?"

"Ahh Yeah, sorry. I was just looking for someone but I don't think they are home."

"At 2 am?"

"Yeah, it's a long story. I'm leaving, and I wanted to say goodbye."

"Ahh. Okay, well if you're looking for Mr. Hotchner, he's not home. He left a few hours ago and I haven't seen him since. I can leave him a message for you if you'd like."

"Ahh sure. Um, but who are you and how do you know Aaron?"

"Oh sorry, My name is Steve, and I'm just watching over the neighborhood. Aaron helped me with something a few years ago, and we've been good friends since then."

"Ahh I see. Well I'm Emily, It was nice to meet you Steve. Um, Can you let Aaron know that I came by?.."

"Sure I..."

"Actually, never mind, please don't mention that I came by to him. "

"Emily I."

"Please, I just have a lot going on right now, and it's a long story. Can you promise me that you won't tell him?"

"Sure...'

"Thank you, It was nice to meet you, Steve." Emily said, walking back to her car.

""You too Emily." He said, continuing with his walk.

Driving away, Emily almost felt defeated. She had this one chance, and it didn't work out.

"Maybe not now, but maybe if time is right, we'll run into each other again." She thought to herself as she drove away.
