AN: Full one at the end, but first I do not have any rights to Sons of Anarchy, just my OCs, and just love the show.

.: Slightly Awkward and Almost Silent:.

Chapter 1:

Aven didn't know how loud silence could be. Everything around her was quiet, but her mind was screaming. How? How did this happen? Well, the how wasn't the question, she knew how, but why? Why now? What was she going to do? What was He going to do?

Staring at the kitchen table, her eyes had gone dry long ago, but she refused to blink. Scared if she blinked, she'd start crying again. And if she started, she knew she wouldn't stop this time.

The sound of a loud engine pulled her out of her trance. As fast as she could she pocketed the paper that was on the table and stood as she heard the bike shut off in her driveway. She stayed where she was as she heard the key unlock the door. Fighting the trimmers that rocked through her body, as she heard his heavy boots walk down the hall.

This is it, she thought.

One Year Earlier...

The Charming Library was just around the corner of Main Street. Many of the residents had passed through the doors, but in all her three years of working there, Aven had never seen a Son in the building. Standing at the front desk checking some kids books out, Aven looked up when she heard the door swing open. Freezing for a few seconds as she stared as the biker walked in.

He was tall, well over six feet, and shoulders that she knew she couldn't wrap her arms around. Tattoos covered his arms, all the way down to his ringed fingers. She watched as he looked around, taking the small building in. She could tell he was analyzing the buildings layout. When his eyes landed on her at the front desk, she blushed, and looked away. Quickly she finished checking out the kids who was still waiting on her, by the time she was done, he had stepped up to the desk.

"Hi, can I help you?" Aven asked him. His eyes, she noticed were dark, almost black, looking straight back at her. She watched as he scanned what he could see of her behind the counter. Aven blushed, thanking God she decided to pretty herself up today. She was wearing a pale blue dress that was slightly off the shoulders and had a row of buttons all the way down to where it stopped almost to her knees, paired with her favorite white peep toe sandals. The dress was one of her favorites to wear, because it showed off her modest B cupped breast, and did wonders for her ass. She had curled her long red locks perfectly until they fell down to her middle back, and kept her makeup light, just enough to enhance her doeish eyes, and pouty lips. She had learned through trial, and error what worked for her. She brushed a curl behind her ear, toying with her golden hooped earing.

He was chewing on a toothpick as he said, "Where is your horror section?"

Giving him a small smile, she pointed behind her, "Up the stairs, go all the way down the aisles, and turn left." He nodded and headed around the desk.

Blowing out a deep breath, she flipped her long red curls behind her back, and started to organize some books in the return pile. Twenty minutes later, she heard a quick two knocks on her desk, and looked up to see him standing back in front of her with three books in his hands.

"Find everything okay?" She asked him. He nodded, placing the books down. Aven started scanning the books into the computer system, "Do you have a library card with us?" The man shook his head no. "Okay. I just need you to fill this out real quick, then we can sit you up with one, and check you out." She placed the paper in front of him, and handed him a pen. When he was done, she checked it over, and smiled when she saw his name. "Happy Lowman, cool name." He just nodded again, as he stared at her. She entered his information into the computer, and grabbed a card from under the desk, to sync it to his account. When she was finished, she handed him his books, and card with another smile. "I hope you enjoy them, and I guess I'll see you again when you bring them back. Unless, of course, you use the dropbox. Which is outside. By the door. Big, red, square box, by the door, gots a pull-down handle. All you gotta do is open it, and throw the books in. Well, not actually throw the books in, you should never throw a book. But you know what I mean right?" Aven blushed again, she didn't know why she had just rambled like that. He was still staring at her, and it kind of unerved her. He just nodded at her, his eyes flicked down her body quickly before he turned, and walked away without another word.

Sighing, she shook her head, What is wrong with you Aven?

The next time Aven saw Happy was two weeks later when he returned the books, to the front desk, not the dropbox. Wishing she had put on something a little cuter today, instead of a plain black pencil skirt, and white button-down shirt. Giving him a small smile as she scanned the books into the computer, "Didn't use the box, huh?" Looking back at him, his face was sat in stone, not answering her question. She figured he was probably calling her stupid in his head for asking a dumb question. And this is why I don't try to flirt. Quickly she added, "All done, if you decide to get anymore, I'll be here." Still staring at her, he nodded once before turning to go up the stairs.

Running a hand through her long curls, Aven sighed to herself. Figures the one time in her whole life that she decided to be the one who initiated the flirting, she'd pick a guy who had no interest. Putting it all out of her mind, she went back to work, organizing some filers for the libraries upcoming events.

About an hour later, two quick knocks had her looking away from her computer to the face of Happy. "Find anything good?" Nodding at her, he set two books down on the counter for her to scan. "Oh, can't go wrong with Stephen King, huh?" smiling at him. Again, nothing but a nod. Awkwardly, she cleared her throat, and finished checking his books out. "Well, I hope you enjoy these, like the last ones. I mean, uhh, if you did enjoy the last ones." Passing the books back to him, she could feel the blush on her cheeks, and prayed he didn't notice it. She watched as he scanned her curvy figure, a toothpick twisting between his teeth. Looking into her eyes one more time, she stood there as he turned, and walked out.

He must only allow himself a certain number of words per day, and he's not gonna waste them on me.

The third time he walked into the library, three weeks later, Aven was having a day from hell. She had woken up late, having to forgot to plug her phone in the night before. In her rush to get out there door on time, she had hurriedly thrown on some skinny jeans, and a black sweater. Her hair was thrown into a messy bun, and she skipped her contacts for her black rimmed glasses. When she made it to work, she found out that one of her co-workers decided to call in, and today they had a school field trip scheduled. That left her to man the front desk, and her other co-worker Sarah to handle the kids. It didn't look like either would be getting a lunch break today.

Having her back to the door, stacking book returns into groups, she didn't see Happy come in, but clinched her eye shut quickly when she heard the two quick knocks on the counter.

Why did he have to come in today?

Squaring her shoulders, Aven turned to face the man who un-nerves her like no other. He stood there, books in front of him on the counter, back straight, arms hung loosely at his sides. His black vest, kutte she thinks they are called, stood out against a long shelved white tee, his tattoos hidden from her sight.

She moves over to her computer to scans, she forgoes greeting him, Not like I'll get a real one back, and starts scanning his books into the system. "You're a week late." She pauses, looking into his dark eyes, "You're gonna have to pay the late dues, its $2.50 a piece, so $5 please." She watches as his jaw clenches, and he reaches into his back pocket pulling out a wallet on a long metal chain that hooks onto his belt loops. After watching him flip through some bills, he pulls out five ones, and seems to reluctant to hand them over to her. "Thank you, I guess I didn't tell you when you got your card that books must be either returned or re-checked out at two weeks, so you don't get charged." Was she being a little bit petty, because she could have waved it this first time, and it kind of was her fault for not telling him in the first place. But, she was a little miffed that he hadn't respond to her once, neither her flirting or regular conversation.

Fuck it, I'm allowed to be a little bitchy every once in a while, and he just caught me on one of my off days.

"If you find anything you like, I'll be here." Turning, she walked the couple steps to the back counter to continue sorting books, Happys old ones included. After a few minutes she turned back to the front to grab her label maker, and her eyes widen in surprise to see Happy still standing there watching her. "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know you was still here. Is there anything else you need?"

She was even more surprised to see him open her mouth to utter his first word to her since asking where the horror books where his first day there.

"Glasses?" Happy asked simply.

It took her a minute to understand what he was talking about. Her first thought was that he was looking for a book on glasses, but it didn't make sense to her. When she didn't answer right away, Happy pointed to her eyes, and Aven reached up, and felt her own glasses on her face. "Oh! Uh, yeah. I usually wear contacts, but I was in a rush this morning, so I just grabbed my glasses, so I didn't have to fool with them." Aven forcefully stopped herself there, so she didn't ramble on like she usually did in front of him.

She felt awkward standing there, she rocked back on her hills, and her teeth sinking into her bottom lip. She watched as Happys eyes flicked down to her lips, and sucked in a breath when his tounge came out and flicked his own bottom lip. Stunned for a second, she watched as he looked her over one more time, before he turned, and walked out of the library.

She chalked it all up in her head to being insignificant, but a very small part of her couldn't deny that her day had very much improved with just one word, and a peek of Happys attention on her.

AN: Sooooo, this just kind of came to me, and I had to get it out. I'm planning on it being maybe 3-5 chapters, depending on a few things. I've come into a little bit more free time on the weekends, so hopefully it won't be too long in between up dates.

This story is set in season 4, after the guys get outta prison. Now, because I feel like everything went down hill after they got out, and it broke my heart, this will be a AU of there being no letters from Jaxs dad. So basically, they all stay one big happy crazy family.

If you have read my other story 'No Regrets' starring Jax, and Novalee, I just want you to know I haven't forgot about, I know its been a long time, life just kinda got in the way, and them characters where being stubborn, and wouldn't come out right. I'm planning on working on part 2 of that story when I am done with this one.

If all goes right, I should be posting the next chapter next weekend. Oh, and just FYI this story is rated "M" for later chapters, I will post it at the top when it get included in each chapter. Hope you all enjoyed the first chaper, and if you love, hate, have any questions or even suggestions, please comment.
