It was a typical Saturday in the Adams Foster household. Everyone had gotten up a little later compared to when they all got up during the week. Stef and Lena got up earlier than the kids to get started on breakfast. Stef was making the family some pancakes and sausage with vegan sausages for Mariana while Lena was making some freshly squeezed orange juice and slicing up some fruit.

"So I was thinking, we are getting low on some things. I think we should go to the store to get a couple of things." Lena said from her seated position at the table while she was making orange juice.

"Yeah, my love, that is a good idea. There are definitely some things that we need. We should ask the kids if they want to come. Maybe we can get a treat for them. It's been a while since we got them a little extra. Plus, I want Callie and Jude to have the opportunity to pick up some things that they may need or even want, maybe some school snacks. Maybe some clothes or stuff like that."

"Yeah I agree." Lena said, putting the finishing touches on breakfast and setting the table.

"Kids breakfast is ready." Stef said, walking to the stairs and yelling up the stairs.

All five kids came down, still in their PJ's.

"Good morning, my loves." Stef said as the family of seven all sat down to have breakfast.

"So, Mama and I were talking. There are a couple of things that we are running low on, so Mama and I are planning to go to the store to pick up a couple of things. Would any of you like to come with us?"

"Sure, I will come. I wanted to look at some stuff for my guitar." Brandon said.

"Yeah, I will go too. I saw my friend with this nail polish. I might look at that." Mariana chimed in.

"Me too. I want to look at skateboards. I don't need a new one, of course. But, I wouldn't mind looking at them."

"Sounds good." Stef said.

"Callie and Jude, would you like to come?" Lena asked.

Callie looked at Jude, and from the look in his eyes, she could tell that he wanted to go.

"Yes, going to the grocery store sounds fun."

"Alright, we will go right after breakfast, I don't want to go later on in the day as it will be busy, especially on a Saturday. Stef announced.

The family of seven finished breakfast and cleaned up the kitchen together before they all went up stairs to get dressed and ready for the day.

Callie and Mariana were getting dressed in their rooms.

"I love going to the store. Sometimes, our moms let us pick out something small that we want, not every week. But, sometimes they do." Mariana said.

"That sounds nice. To be honest, once Jude and I were placed in the foster system, I hated going to the store because our foster parents would buy food and then not let us eat the food, or only let us eat certain things that they bought. But, it is different here. Your moms always include us in your family's meals, and we always get to eat with you guys, which I love."

"I am sorry you went through all that. But, I am glad you are here now. Moms aren't like that as you see."

"I know, I am glad."

"Me too, Jesus and I were definitely in some foster homes like what you are describing, but it wasn't for as long a period as you and Jude."

"Yeah, we should get going."

The two girls walked downstairs, and the rest of the family were already ready to go. They all piled into the car and were off to Trader Joe's.

"Alright, I know there are some things you guys need, so you guys go and get those things. Jude buddy, you can stay with us or go with Callie, but you don't have a phone yet so you need to stay with us or Callie, I will text you guys on the family group chat when Mama and I are done."

All the kids nodded their heads and went to get what they needed. Jude decided to go with Callie as he wanted to talk with Callie. They walked their own way, away from everyone else.

"So, Callie, what are you getting? I was thinking of getting some cheese strings. There was only one left in the fridge yesterday."

Callie sighed, "Jude, I know that you feel comfortable here, and I know that Stef and Lena give us what we need. But, we can't start to think that we are truly a part of this family and that we can just get whatever we want. You know how our foster home was before coming here when we were with Jim. I don't want them to kick us out, and then we have less than what we have now. Okay, buddy?"

"Okay. But Stef just said that we should go and get what we need."

"She was talking to her kids. To Brandon, Jesus, and Mariana."

Jude stayed quiet. He and Callie just walked around some more until they found Stef and Lena, who had their cart one half of the way full.

"Oh, hi guys." Stef said as she checked to see if either of the Jacobs siblings had anything.

"You guys don't have anything picked out yet. I know there are some things you guys need. Why don't you guys get some things?" She said,

"You guys can pick out a couple of snacks or clothing if you would like. Jude, I know you like cheese strings." Lena added.

Callie stood there shocked. She couldn't remember the last time she had gotten to pick out a single item that she wanted.

"Is that okay with you both. I know that Jude and I being here is costing you guys extra, and I just don't want us to be a financial burden."

Stef and Lena were both saddened at what Callie had just said. She couldn't believe what Callie had said. What kind of homes did Bill place these two kids in?

"You both are not a burden, I promise, we are so happy to have you both here. I promise, now go get the things you need and would like." Lena said.

Callie and Jude went off together.

"What kind of homes did Bill put them in? Seriously. We know they are a little malnourished, which you and I are working on. But, like, did those foster parents even take care of them, or did they just, I don't even know." Stef said, upset.

"I don't know, honey. I really don't but they are here now, and they are staying here until Bill finds a safe, caring permanent home for them both." Lena said, trying to calm her girlfriend down.

"You're damn right they are." Stef said.

"Language, honey."

"I know, love, I'm sorry.

Stef and Lena continue getting the stuff that they need for a while longer.

"I think we are done." Stef said.

"Yeah, that's everything on my list. Text the kids to meet us at the checkout." Lena said, pushing the cart.

Stef texted all of the children to meet them at the front.

Soon, all of the kids met them at the front. The twins and Brandon had three or four items each. While Callie and Jude each had two new outfits, socks, and undergarments, as well as a box of snacks each and Jude's cheese strings. Callie and Jude placed their items in the cart after watching the three other kids do the same thing previously.

Stef paid the cashier while everyone else helped load the cart.

"Alright everyone, place the cold items in the cooler, we are stopping for milkshakes on the way home." Lena said.

Everyone packed up the car, and they all headed to the milkshake place.

"Alright, everyone, what kind do you want?" Stef asked, and everyone gave their orders.

Once everyone got their milkshakes, they made their way home.

"Alright everyone, help us unload the groceries." Lena said, getting out of the car.

Everyone got out of the car and carried in some bags. The family of seven went ahead and unpacked the groceries and put the groceries away.

"Mama and I are going to get started on dinner. You guys can go do what you want. Please make sure all your work is complete and any studying that needs to be completed is completed. Thank you, my babies."

"Hey, Callie, I have some math homework. Can you and I do homework together in the living room?

"Of course." Callie replied.

Callie and Jude did their homework and studied in the living room while the three others did their homework in their bedrooms. By the time everyone was done with their homework, it was almost time for dinner, and Callie and Jude offered to set the table before the family sat down for dinner.

"Why don't we watch a movie together tonight as a family?" Stef suggested.

"That's a good idea." Lena agreed. While all of the kids nodded their heads.

Soon, popcorn popped, and the family of seven was sitting in the living room, ready to watch a movie together.

"Callie and Jude, I am warning you both, Mariana talks a lot during movies." Jesus stated, causing everyone to laugh.

Callie wanted to live in this moment forever. She couldn't remember the last time she had a day like this, getting to sleep in, having a nice family breakfast. Going to the store, being allowed, and encouraged to pick out a couple of needs and wants, coming home and just relaxing with the family for the rest of the day. She let her mind roam off while she watched "Back to the Future" with her new foster family. By the time the movie was over, it was time for everyone to get ready for bed.

After everyone had gotten ready for bed and all the kids were in bed, Callie went to see if Jude was still awake. Sure enough, he was.

"Callie, are you alright?" He said, seeing her shadow in the doorway.

"Yes. I was just coming to see if you were awake."

"I am. I keep thinking about how today was such a good day."

"Same, I was just going to thank Stef and Lena for today, I really enjoyed today."

"Can I come?"

"Sure." Callie replied.

The Jacob siblings walked over to Stef and Lena's room. Callie suddenly hesitated. Should she knock? She didn't want to bother them. They had already done so much for her today, more than she could have ever expected. She decided she wanted to do this. She brought up her hand to the door of her foster mother's bedroom and knocked.

"Come in." Lena said through the closed door.

Callie slowly walked into the room.

"Hi, my love." Stef said as she put her ipad down.

"Everything alright, guys? Did you need something? Lena asked, placing a bookmark in her book.

"Oh, yes, everything is fine. We just wanted to say thank you" Callie said.

"For what?" Stef questioned.

"For everything, for the nice breakfast this morning, for buying Jude and I stuff at the store for the milkshake, and for a nice dinner. I really appreciate everything you both have done for Jude and I since we have arrived at your home."

"Of course, honey. We are your moms. That is our job. I know that you guys have been through some bad foster homes, and I am sorry for that, but I promise you, from now on, you two will be taken care of.

"We really appreciate it." Jude said.

"Of course, we are happy to do it." Lena said while Stef nodded.

"Are you guys going to bed now?" Stef asked.

"Yeah. We both just wanted you to know how thankful we are for today."

"It's not a problem. Have a good night." Lena said

"You too." The Jacob siblings replied.

They both left the room.

"They are so sweet." Stef said.

"Umm, they are. Stef, I want to adopt them."

"I was thinking about that too, I want to, but maybe that is a conversation for another day as I am ready to go to sleep. Stef said, putting her Ipad on her nightstand.

"I agree. Good night, Stef. I love you." Lena said, placing her book on her bedside table.

"I love you too, my love. Good night."

Soon, everyone in the Adams Foster house was asleep, preparing for what tomorrow would bring.

The End
