The escape and de after ….. Chapter 6

When I write a story I have it finished, I don't want those who read it and are interested in it to not have to spend months or years for a new chapter

Today I had planned to upload this chapter but yesterday's news, the death of Matthew Perry, broke my heart and I couldn't stop saying goodbye to him here, he was my favorite actor and like Chandler, my favorite character and to a large extent he was the one who towards a Mondler fan, for me the best couple on a sitcom.

Although it is hard, I will try to continue writing about Mondler so that Matthew is always by our side inspiring us.

I read his book, Matthew was a very sensitive and vulnerable being who was dragged down terrible paths. I am sure that, from where his soul is now, he will be looking at a beautiful blue sky and the infinite sea, which was the landscape he most longed for. Rest in peace dear Matthew/Chandler

Remember English is not my native language, I hope the translation is correct, I check it, but sometimes I miss some incorrect, sorry.

I repeat, I am not the owner of the characters, I on them for the sheer pleasure of practice writing stories without any economic interest, and these two characters inspire me.

The next day Chandler kept his promise to come back early. Ross and Phoebe also arrived and everyone started talking around the table while Monica prepared the Lasagna.

Chandler offered to help her, but Monica told him that she was already ready, she just needed to put it in the oven.

At one-point Mon asked Ross if he had her spatula…. Ross said yes, "I'll bring it to you."

Ross left apartment 20, closing the door behind him, but was surprised to find a man knocking on apartment 19. Ross asked him what he needed, and the man told him "I'm looking for Chandler Bing, someone told me he lives here."

Ross…. "oh yes, only now we are all in 20… you want to come in…" And Ross opened the door to 20, at that moment Chandler had stopped and was standing leaning against the back of the sofa, laughing at some joke.

Ross said, "Chandler, this man is looking for you."

The man passed and Chandler turned pale, his legs went limp and he gripped the couch. He was speechless, no words came out.

Thomas looked at him with shining eyes…. "Chandler, I don't know if you remember me…. I'm your uncle Thomas..."

Chandler was paralyzed, he only managed to stutter…. "Uncle…. Uncle Thomas, how are you

here…"

And for just two seconds he directed a cold look into Monica's eyes, and she understood, Steven had not kept his word..."

Thomas approached slowly…… "You have no idea how happy I am to have found you; your

grandfather would have jumped for joy…. Can I give you a hug…"?

Chandler, still surprised and stuttering, nodded, and Thomas approached him and gave him a big bear hug….

When they separated, a tear ran down Thomas's face, which he quickly wiped away. He wasn't used to crying, he hadn't been raised to do that, but now it was inevitable.

"Son, you are now a man, and you have my mother's eyes, when Dr. Dawson told me that he doubted your story, I showed him the photo of your grandmother and he recognized your eyes in her eyes and her smile in yours. You know, you are the only grandson who inherited them…"

Ross looked at Monica with reproach, and told the girls "we're leaving," but Chandler, a little more recovered, told them.

"no, stay, there is nothing my friends can't see or hear…. "This is my uncle Thomas Bing, these are my friends, Ross my roommate, Monica his sister and Phoebe my oldest friend who also lives here."

Monica said to Thomas and Chandler, "why don't you sit on the couch, you want something to drink…"

Thomas said "just a glass of water" … Chandler said "for me too" … and they sat down, Ross sat on the other couch, Monica on the armrest of that's couch, and Phoebe on the floor on the other side of the coffee table.

Thomas said excitedly, "I told the doctor…. when you ran away dad was very hurt, but at the same time he told me that he was proud of you, that you had had the guts to leave and that he was sure that you were going to do well…. He trusted you a lot..."

Chandler told him, "Uncle, when I found out that Grandpa died, a couple of months had passed. I kept in touch with a boarding school classmate with whom we had sworn never to tell where I was. When he found out he told me, and so that's why I came to NY to put at least one flower since I hadn't been able to say goodbye..."

Thomas asked him, "Son, why didn't you come home when you ran away?"

Chandler explained with a sad look, "Uncle, you know that Samuel would have gone looking for me, he would have sent me to boarding school in England, he had already threatened me with that, and he would probably report Grandpa to be imprisoned for attempted kidnapping."

"Samuel was capable of anything…"

Thomas answered "yes, that's true."

Chandler told him "I planned it very well, I spent a year planning it, I knew that in order to work I had to be over 16 years old, I knew I had to go to a place with a mild climate since I had no idea if I was going to have enough money to pay for a place and maybe I would have to sleep on the street, I thought about LA and Florida, but LA was further away, I couldn't go by plane because they could detect me, it had to be by train, and Florida was closer and cheaper." and he continuous.

The Wednesdaybefore Thanksgiving they let us go home. I went to the Department from mom in Madison, I knew she was in Rome and wasn't planning to come, I left my boarding school clothes and loaded the bag with my clothes. I knew where mom kept money, there was a lot, but I only took 1,000, to pay the ticket and have to pay for room and board for a few days. I told the maid that a friend had invited me to spend those days with him, and that mom already knew and I left, I went to the station and got on the train thinking that I was never going to come back..." "I was sorry for grandpa and for yours, but I had no other option…"

Thomas asked him "and what did you do when you arrived in Tampa?"

"I could afford a rough motel for a couple of weeks, but I went looking for work and found a gas station that needed a guy to wash cars. I saw that there was a small place on the top floor and I asked the owner if I could sleep there and he accept. I worked there for two months. Then I saw an ad for a waiter, and also in that cafe they allowed me to stay overnight in an area of the warehouse. It was great there because I could eat leftovers and I had a place to sleep, so I could save everything they paid me plus tips. I was there for about 3 months, and then I saw an ad that

they needed people on an orange plantation and the job included housing, so I showed up and the owner hired me."

"I lived on the plantation for almost 8 years, the work was hard, but I liked it, most of it was outdoors…. Ronald, the owner, and his family liked me. Ronald urged me to finish high school and I finished it with honors. " Chandler said it with pride.

"Then he helped me get a scholarship at the university… I wanted to study literature, I like to write…"

Thomas smiled…. "some Thyler gene you inherited…"

Chandler, smiling, said "yes, but I want to write other kinds of books…" And he continued the story.

"Well, Ronald convinced me that it would be better to pursue a career with a good job

opportunity, with letters, I will continue to be a waiter for a long time until someone publishes me, and he was right, since I was excellent in mathematics, I studied Computer Science, and here I am, working at IBM"

The friends looked at each other, he had never told them that he works at IBM.

Chandler looked at his friends' surprised faces. "I never told you where I worked so you wouldn't think I was being important... but after two days of hard interviews they gave me a position, which is good to start with."

Thomas took his hands, "Son, I'm proud of you too, your grandfather knew that you were going to make it, that you were going to become a good, hard-working man with goals…"

Chandler told him seriously, "Dude, the only thing I'm worried about is that Samuel finds out and interferes with my work, I know he hates me…"

Thomas answered, "Samuel and your grandmother died 4 years ago in a car accident. In front of you was your uncle Junior, who is the same or worse than Samuel, and your mother, who is out in

the world and has a terrible relationship with her brother."

Chandler exclaimed, "I hope they don't find out that I'm in NY and where I work, I think they're capable of getting me fired…"

Thomas tried to reassure him – "Look, you can expect anything from Junior, but perhaps getting involved with his voice is not a priority like it was for his father, maybe on our part they will never find out, I don't know if Dr. Dawson has asked questions to him some of them like he did with me, although I don't think he knows any Thyler directly... and at this point it was clear to him that you were not a fake, but a pure-blooded Bing..." and he smiled.

Monica blushed, she couldn't believe how stupid and treacherous Steven had been.

Thomas spoke again. "Son, we have a lot to talk about and I would like you to come home and meet my wife, my children, see Aunt Marilyn and her daughters, everyone will be happy to see you, they still don't know that I found you, and if you don't want them to know, I will respect your decision."

Chandler responded immediately, "No man, I have no problem getting together, these ten years I often thought how good it would be to have you around, it's not good to feel alone…"

Thomas asked him "I guess you don't want to meet your mother…"

Chandler with a serious face answered, "No, not really, I know about her from magazines or some talk shows on television, but I don't need her."

Thomas with a smile told him. "You know, Katherine, my wife, when she wants to bother me and laugh at me she tells me "look in this magazine is your sister-in-law…" She knows that comment gets on my nerves," and they both laughed.

Thomas told Chandler "well son, I'll leave you with your friends…. no pressure, when you feel up to it, call me and I will organize a family meeting, here is my phone number, we also have to talk about other topics…. I'll wait for your call"

They both got up and Thomas hugged Chandler, when Thomas was about to leave, Chandler told him wait…. "If it seems like the weekend we can meet, I'll call you to see the time and address…"

Thomas made a huge smile, there his friends saw the great resemblance he had with Chandler "of course, we are waiting for you on Saturday, call me to make arrangements…. Thank you"

Chandler… "okay…. It was time …. See you"

Thomas left, and all the friends were speechless, they didn't know the details of Chandler's life, and there was more.

After this, no one had any desire to eat... Monica kept the lasagna in the refrigerator, maybe later.

Chandler had sat on the couch, his head in his hands. Phoebe walked over and hugged him by the shoulders. He looked at her and said…. "Calm down, I'm fine, just a little shocked. My problem was not with the Bings, but I was worried about this reaching my grandfather Samuel's ears or what time it would reach my uncle Junior, he is not good people, and my mother I don't want her to

show up doing a hysterical act when in truth never mind" and began to tell them the rest of the story.

"My father had an affair with my mother, when them was 19 and 17, and she became pregnant. Obviously they were forced to marry, for different reasons, but both families did not want a scandal."

"The marriage was a disaster from the beginning, my father was actually gay and tried to hide it by going out with girls, but once he was married my mother was clear about it, from then on everyone made their own lives, and they also constantly fought when they coincided in house, and I was in the middle"

"Many weekends my grandfather Jeremias took me to his house to get me out of that hell, in reality I saw and knew things that a child should not see or know…"

" It wasn't easy for my grandfather Jeremias to accept my dad either, my grandfather came from another era and other codes, and he was angry and ashamed of my father, that's why he tried to protect me."

"When my parents divorced they fought for my custody, I don't think my father was very

interested in winning it, but the one who pushed back was Grandpa Jeremias, since if Dad won, Grandpa's idea was to take care of me. But my mother won custody, and for Samuel I was almost the son of the devil, he didn't want me in his house or in his life, and he didn't want my mother either because of her, according to him, debauched behavior, so he bought her an apartment in Madison to keep her away from The Hamptons, and they locked me up in boarding school. I was 10 years old, except for Grandpa Jeremias who took me to his house or came to visit me, no one came from the Thyler side, my mother was already successful with her books so she spent her time traveling around the country and the world. And my father had gone, no one knew where, they believed he was in Las Vegas, but it's not certain."

"When I was about 13 years old I found out that the Bings had been prohibited from coming to see me or taking me, and that was when I began to plan my escape, I had neither a father nor a mother and the only grandfather who loved me was prohibited from seeing me. I was clear that I couldn't go to him because it would cause problems, so the best thing was to go as far away as

possible and disappear."

Monica sadly said... "Steven thought you were a fraud; I hope he didn't talk to anyone from your mother's family."

Chandler responded "I hope so too…. But he couldn't be trusted, he was so determined to prove his point that he didn't care to stop being a gentleman."

Phoebe asked him, "Chandler, your mother is the writer Nora Thyler Bing."

"Yes, I'm sure you've read her books, almost all the girls have done so" and he looked at Monica with a smile, which she returned, adding color to her face.

"Guys, I'm exhausted, I'm going to try to rest for a while, but Monica, you have me ready for lasagna for dinner." Ross, don't forget to come look for me."

Ross smiled at him and nodded. When Chandler left the friends were silent, trying to assimilate the sad life Chandler had led and Phoebe said "…well at least on the plantation, with Ronald and his family, he had some peace and happiness…"

Monica commented "he had a life like a movie, he was very brave and yet he is so calm, mature, and does not boast about his achievements."

Ross went to his apartment, he also needed to rest.
