Nya POV: We have been researching for two days now and still can't find something that could work. Fortunately, Kai has been behaving and resting while we took care of him. He hasn't had another seizure so far, but it does make me a little worried.

All of us, except Kai since he was sleeping, were currently looking through some new material that Zane found. I thought there would be something, but no luck.

"Come on. This is getting old. How can there be nothing?" Jay groaned, flopping onto the table.

"I agree. There should be something." Zane said, unfazed by his gesture.

I sighed and said, "But thinking about his elemental powers he would burn right through most medications."

"True." Zane said, thinking hard about this.

"Is Kai still asleep?" Lloyd asked, mostly looking at me.

"Yeah, but I'll go check on him." I stood up and went to his room.

He was still asleep, but looked a little uncomfortable. I gently shook his shoulder and he barely woke up, looking extremely tired.

"Did you have another seizure last night?" I asked, thinking over all the symptoms of an aftermath.

"No, I just couldn't really sleep last night." he mumbled, and stretched a little.

I didn't believe him, but said nothing. He stood up and went towards the bathroom. Then he jerked and started falling, but I grabbed him first.

I laid him on the floor as the seizure hit, but it wasn't as bad as the first one I saw. I stabilized his head and let it run its course. It lasted for three minutes before he finally relaxed. I turned him to his side and sighed quietly. This is probably why he couldn't sleep, but I'm not sure. Then Lloyd walked in and saw us on the floor, and I waved him over.

He quietly walked over and whispered, "Everything okay?"

"Yeah, it didn't last too long." I answered, glancing at him.

He nodded and once Kai was breathing better and a little more aware we both helped him back into bed.

"Sorry." he mumbled, looking both really tired and really guilty.

"It's nothing to be sorry about." I reassured, but he was already out like a light.

We both waited a few minutes before leaving. I closed the door and sighed loudly.

"He'll be okay. We'll figure it out." Lloyd said, patting my shoulder.

"I know, but I can't help it." I responded.

I didn't say it, but I was really upset at myself about all of this. This has all been going on for so long and I didn't even think that something was wrong. I know he was hiding it and trying to keep it a secret, but I can't help but think I should have noticed sooner at least.

"I'm going to go to the blacksmith shop today to check our mail. I'll be back later." I said, remembering that. Plus I needed the distraction.

He nodded and headed back to the others. I left as soon as I could and tried to not think about everything on the way there. Even though we don't live there anymore we still owned it and had our mail sent there. It was our way of having a peaceful place to go back to, and have a normal routine to look forward to. But when I got there someone else was checking our mailbox. At first I prepared myself, but relaxed when I got closer.

It was Mari, our neighbor and oldest childhood friend. She always helped out when we were younger because she didn't have parents either. She even learned how to use herbs for all of us since they were cheaper than pharmaceutical drugs. She was still living in the village as a herbalist with a whole shop of her own. and watched our shop sometimes. She had light brown hair that seemed a little longer than before and she noticed me as I walked towards her. She was wearing her working glasses, but her bright orangish brown eyes were as sharp as ever.

"Oh Nya, welcome back." she said as soon as I was close.

She handed me the mail and I said, "Thanks, but I thought you were busy today."

"It went much faster than I thought and decided to grab it for you quick." she said.

I laughed quietly, but she gave me a questionable look and said, "Is something wrong? You seem less energetic than usual."

Was it that obvious "Yeah, Kai is… just having some health problems that's all." I said, leaving out the name. He wouldn't want everyone knowing.

She just stared at me before sighing and said, "Come with me."

Before I could say anything she took my hand and dragged me to her shop. It was really a small house close to ours, but still outside of the village, that she converted into her shop. It had a huge garden in the back and plants in almost all the windows. Inside herbs and bottles lined the shelves and the counter had some more with the register.

She finally let go and said, "Wait here."

She went to the back and I felt awkward. I was really confused, but whatever. She never does anything without a reason. I looked around and found a lot of newer types of herbs than before. She must be expanding her business a bit, she's definitely that good.

Soon she came back out and said, "Here." she handed me a brown paper bag that smelled like herbs.

"What's this?" I was really confused. Maybe these are for injuries?

"It's a mixture I created for Kai's seizure." She said, then smirked at my face.

"You knew?!" I exclaimed, and she nodded.

"Yep. I was there for his first one. After that I found that normal medicine didn't work and dabbled in herbs." she explained. Why didn't we think of that? But still.

"Why didn't you tell me? I could've helped." I put the bag in my pack.

She just stared and said, "Because it's Kai, and he's stubborn. Besides, he had my herbs. He was able to manage it."

"Fair point, but has he been coming here after we left?" I asked, but I think I know the answer to that.

"Not as often as I want him to. He said that was too busy whenever I called." she said, all while looking irritated.

"Of course." I expected nothing less from Kai at this point.

"But now that you know, I assume you're going to change that?" she asked, smiling at me.

"Definitely, and thanks for this. I'll pay you back for this." I answered, smiling back.

"I'm not taking your money. Just make sure he takes this with some water, and if he gets sick after then give him some more to settle his stomach." She said, waving her hand.

"I can't just take this…" I would feel too bad about that.

"It's fine, I promise. Anything for old friends." She reassured me and smiled.

How did we get such a good friend? "Thanks. I promise to bring Kai next time."

"Please do. I have a lecture prepared for him about his health." she said menacingly.

I know what that means. He's definitely invoked her wrath. I pity your future big brother.
