"Come on….come on!"
Twirling the twig in his hand over the pile of rubbish in front of him in this dark cramp alleyway. Nothing seemed to work for Jaune as he tried to start a fire to keep himself, his time travelling young adult daughter, and their new canine companion warm for what seemed to be the eternal darkness that was covering them.
"Nope it's not working" Jaune said giving up.
"Let me" Kara said pushing her father aside and taking the twigs in her hand and trying to start a fire like her old man. Jaune turned over to Alyos, the guardian wolf they had encountered earlier, who was casually sitting down and observing the pair.
"So," Jaune started as he sat right next to the talking wolf "could you perhaps tell us more about this Control Devil?
Alyos sighed softly "I'm afraid I can't tell you much if I don't know much my human friend. All I can tell you is that when she came here she immediately took over the entire place. You know that big tower at the end of this long street."
Jaune nodded. Though the street they seemed to be endless, it did indeed lead to somewhere. That somewhere being a giant tower at the end of the seemingly endless road. It was still a long ways off but it was visible. It loomed over the empty streets that they had been walking.
"That is where she is. No doubt in my mind that she seeks to find a way out of here. And now that you two have arrived I can imagine she will be out there looking for you, it has been a long time since people have actually been sentenced here" Alyos told him.
Jaune barely had time to acknowledge the strangeness of him talking with an actual talking wolf. Sure weirder things had happened in the last three years but maybe that's what made this moment so normal in his eyes. It didn't even make him blink twice at how ludicrous this whole thing was.
"And there…" Kara yelled out triumphantly as she had successfully started a fire on the rubbish pile in front of them.
"Wha…" Jaune mumbled dumbfound "how did you do that…"
Kara smirked playfully before saying "magic dad," she joked "that and a lot of camping experiences."
Jaune couldn't help but chuckle at that "oh you're definitely my daughter that's for sure!" he said proudly and Kara smiled to herself.
The three of them huddled around the fire with Alyos positioning himself between father and daughter. "You have raised your daughter quite well Mr. Arc," the canine said "you must be very proud."
Jaune smiled and looked at Kara.
"Yeah as proud as one can be."
"Dad you're embarrassing me" Kara responded her head bowing down in shame.
"Hey I'm the king of embarrassment," Jaune said pointing smugly at himself "I see that hasn't changed in my old age."
"Oh no it hasn't. You should've seen what happened when mom told you she was pregnant with Jason" Kara told.
Jaune's face suddenly looked like it had been hit by a brick. He could barely stumble out a full sentence instead mumbling in short breaths "…wait…did…who is…what happened…" and then without warning he suddenly fell backwards and fainted.
"Exactly that happened" Kara pointed out as she couldn't help but hold back a laugh. The canine besides her also sneered in amusement before turning his head to face her.
"Your father is a funny little man young Kara" he told her. Kara nodded in response "that he is….that he is…" she replied solemnly.
There was a brief silence before Jaune leaped up once again from his brief fainting and looked around sporadically. He then pointed to Kara and said "you have a lot to explain young lady" in his stern dad voice, which did nothing but amuse his time-travelling teenage daughter.
Kara reached for her back pocket and pulled out the same device from earlier, a small minicomputer and she typed in some information. A small blue screen appeared right before them contained with information.
"Is this her?" Kara asked Alyos.
"Yes…that's her…" Alyos confirmed.
Jaune looked at the screen. On it was the picture of a woman. A seemingly ordinary looking woman with red hair tied in a ponytail. The only notable or odd thing that Jaune noticed was her eyes, they seemed like golden rings. He vaguely recalled seeing them before but he couldn't remember.
"Whose that?" Jaune asked.
"That is Makima," Kara started "or as she's also known, the Control Devil. She was an ally of the Collective and a very powerful one. A powerful Devil hailing from World 2319 who apparently aspired to join the highest ranks of the Collective. That is until she mysteriously vanished about four years ago and nobody knows where, at least that's what it says in the registry. Well I think we now know where she vanished too."
Alyos held his head down in seeming despair, Jaune instinctively rubbed his head as a way of comforting him.
"She seems familiar. Like I can swear I've seen her before or at least those eyes…" Jaune said.
"I think I might know what you mean" Kara responded as she again typed away on her device and the screen changed, this time showing a different woman. With the same golden eyes as the last one, with black hair and very visual scars on the right side of her face.
"That's her. That's the one that attacked us in the store. You know who she is?"
Kara sighed "yes unfortunately I do. She is well…my aunt…"
Jaune looked in between his daughter and the screen before yelling out a loud "YOUR WHAT?" a bit too loudly. In response Kara and Alyos both shushed him at the same time.
"Quiet" Kara said before returning to the screen "and yes I know. She is grandpa Thanos' second adopted daughter and is known as the War Devil, she is a real piece of work to say the least. Her and….well…my biological mother never got along and aunt Yoru was defined by her obsession for one of the Initiative's members and according to the registry it eventually became her undoing."
Jaune didn't know what he should respond too first. The fact that this 'War Devil' was Kara's aunt, or that it was the first time she brought up her biological mother or the fact that Gojo actually kept that absurd name for his organization.
"Okay this is too much! I'll ask questions later for now, what is our plan. If this Control Devil woman is here and is looking for us how we are going to get out!"
Kara disappointingly shrugged her shoulders "I'm afraid I don't know dad. The registry says nothing about this place. Alyos do you perhaps know anything? You've been here since what seems like the beginning maybe you know something?"
Alyos sighed "I am afraid I do not know much. Me and my pack simply exist to keep order and stability in this place, and most prisoners trapped here we where able to keep in line. But not her…"
"What is it about her that makes her so dangerous! With the way Gojo was talking about this place it sounded like there was much worse in here."
"Mr. Arc you don't understand," Alyos said slightly irritated "that thing that is much worse is her! She took control over everything. She used my brothers and sisters to construct that tower! She controls this entire place that was once full of order and structure. And look around you now! The streets are empty, my pack is gone and I don't know where and it's all because of her!"
There was a tense silence in the air. Alyos huffed and sat back down on the ground, his paws crossed. "I'm sorry for my outburst. But you need to understand the gravity of the situation...do not underestimate her. Makima is powerful and right now this…this is her world."
Kara and Jaune exchanged a worried glance. Now understanding what they where up against and whether or not escape was even possible.
From the top of her tower Makima looked out of the windows below the empty streets that had been her prison for such a long time. Her golden eyes not betraying any emotion. She had looked out on this scenery so many times, not a single change ever happening. It was the same every single time she stared at that empty street.
But now something had changed. Someone new had entered and that meant the possibility of a way out of this hell.
"Let go of me you revolting creatures! Nobody lays hands on the Shredder!" an angry voice yelled.
Makima turned around and saw two of her shadowy guards carrying an armored man into the room. A mask in one of the guards hands as they floated across the room carrying the angry man with them.
"Miss Makima, we have found this one in the outlands" one of the guards spoke.
"Put him down. I'll handle him" Makima spoke calmly.
The Shredder was thrown to the ground as the guards evaporated out of sight. Sneering and angrily huffing he looked up to see Makima walking his way, arms clasped behind her back as she approached him.
"You! I know you! You worked for Thanos" Shredder said as he tried to get up but a sudden pressure pulling him back down onto the ground.
"And I know who you are Oroku Saki. And I know you did not come here alone?" Makima said as she kneeled on one foot down to be on face level with the man.
Saki was fuming but could not get up in order to lunge at her. Makima simply smiled and responded with a short but simple.
"I think you and I are going to work together well Mr. Saki."
A/N: I know it's been so long since I updated. My inspiration is low plus the fact I cannot keep focused doesn't help. Also my stories I feel don't attract many people, I see no change in the numbers of people reading the story they've been stuck for over a month and I tried emailing the site about it but so far I've heard no response, so yeah small problem but it leaves me just a little bit downtrodden.
