Sup guys? Lighting Wolf here, back with another story, this one about Warhammer. Enjoy the 2000-word chapter. I do not own Warhammer, Gameshop does.

The Emperor's Children only competed with one legion… Currently, for the role of the best legion. The Dark Angels, those who had served as the first legion.

The Emperor's Children were all thrown aside, they were distracted…. And yet? They fought.

The group was assigned as protection detail towards the group asked to talk with a Xeno species known as the Laer. The group was dangerous and crafty.

Their lord, Fulgrim… Wanted to kill them, not content to let the rest of the Imperium grow dependent upon an alien species for anything.

Though to be fair? The Laer were making things difficult. The species, serpentine in origin… They were beautiful but they were all as crafty as always.

"There is much debate… Much, is there not on the mind for now." The EC Astartes stated as he cursed and tossed his mind to the wayside… Something about it all had been harder and harder.

To them all? Most of them were done with this world, they had been too tired… Too unable to think, to act much less.

They had a LOT more work to do. They did so but it was clear something was going on.

"Something must give; we have not been here for more than a few days… And those supplies all around have been slowly vanishing… We suspect rebels." Another EC Astartes stated.

The squad all frowned as another Thunderhawk began to break through the sky. It was clear to them that something was coming… Something was all too easily beaten down… It had been harder.

The leader of their squad, a man with silver-white hair motioned for the others to form, a landing zone amidst them as he pondered the next move.

There was more work to do. They had been given orders and so? They acted, the EC they served? It was different for them and everyone else.

Something was harder said than done. Their work? All of it was harder said than done now… Something within it all was odd to the Astartes as they motioned towards handling work properly.

Something about it all made him feel amused for now, they had been here 3 days, they had worked here 3 days at the time being. Something about it all had to break.

He was all too thrown off by every single detail of their mission… They were asked to do something? They did it, they were asked to fight? They did so… Every part of their ideals was focused on the people around them.

If nothing else? It reminded most of them that he had to deal with it for now… And for a good reason.

They were soldiers, warriors of the highest caliber with armor and skill to match, soldiers carved in the image of their emperor.

Now? And only now? Would he say nothing as he looked at his brothers, all wrapped in the same purple armor they had worn for years?

"Unload the shuttle… We need to ensure the base is prepared…" The lead Astartes stated with exhaustion now and for good reason.

He sighed to himself, tired at the end of the day… His armor still shone proudly but the rest of the warriors on the edge of the line had been far cautious of attacks.

He simply directed his squad to unload the Thunderhawk which they began to deal with. he sighed and opened the hatch, grabbing a crate of supplies and then pulling it out of the craft.

"Why can we never be given a better posting?" One of his squadmates asked to which he snorted.

"Because we are to serve the Imperium and do what we are told… The rest of the group needs to be ready for anything… You were given an order, brother… We will do it as best we can." He stated before he sighed to himself.

He was all too curious as to how this would have become like if the Emperor's Children were not here, they had been dealing with more than just soldiers questioning it for now.

The sound of static was heard on his voxbox as he tapped his ear and then he paused to think of it all as a relaxing little vacation now.

He had a lot more to try and think of it all as another assignment… He did not love this mission that he could have dealt with it for now.

The Astartes hummed and looked upwards at the sky, the dozens and dozens of ships in the sky reminding him of the Imperial presence in this world now.

The EC soldier paused, brushing off his armor and then thinking of it all as a little game, something about this planet was odder and odder as more soldiers began to set downwards towards them.

He sighed as another gunship passed overhead, reminding them that the Imperial operation was more than just a few groups of Astartes now.

"Sergeant? The Lord has asked we report for duty, load the supplies, and report to the base for debriefing." The Astartes seemed to relax to this as he hummed and then thought of his next move.

He nodded to the brothers as they prepared for the next plan of the plan… Most of them were all too interested in it all now, something at it all before they looked downwards.

Something about it all was much easier said than done now, something about it all made him want to chuckle, knowing it would have been too interesting in now for a good reason… Something that would be easier said than done now at the end of it all.

Something within his mind told him that he had to deal with it for now.

Now? He would simply do the work asked of him… For that was his duty now and for good reason at the time being.

He would have to deal with it for now… He had been too interested in work beyond it all. The work of the Imperium was not something for him to trifle with…. Not that he would deal with it for the moment…. Not that he held it to be something to understand.

Something about it ALL had been harder and harder to grasp for now. He was quiet, taken by the peace within this world as she and he had to look around at the time being.

The other EC soldiers had duties which they attended to, cocky to a fault… But they acted as if they were living statues as well.

It annoyed him considering as leader of the squad. He had to handle work… He had problems to attend within to.

Perhaps now? He would teach them duty, teach them a humility that the emperor and the Primarch had tried to teach them.

Yet? if neither could have taught them at all? He doubted he could shake them from their stupor within him to the end.

Something about it all made him curious as to how it would have to be when it came down to it all.

If he was annoyed? He said nothing and simply toiled on, carrying 3 of the crates over his shoulder as they marched towards the base.

"We should take the gunship, and keep our armor working." One EC soldier stated as the sergeant sighed, annoyed.

He could not for the life of him understand why his squad… That of the EC was still about spic and span… Yes, they were superior warriors and YES, they were skilled at their jobs but they were asked by the Primarch himself to handle this work, nothing less than perfect was acceptable at the time… Not now. Not at all.

Which to him? Made the Astartes more annoyed, very cranky, and upset which he staved off by doing nothing to anyone at the time being… Nothing which made him more amused than usual… And it was amusing to him honestly more than could be amusing… Now?

Now he was annoyed, he would remain annoyed now for a good reason, something which he had to deal with for now… Something about it all had to be done and dusted.

He was all too exhausted… And he would remain exhausted now and for good reason. Each part of his mind ached with interest as he realized that not a thing… Not a thing he was going to have to deal with was going to be as exciting for now and it ALL had been crashing to the ground.

He sighed to himself, annoyed more than tired or angry or defeated. He just wanted to go home for now and for a good reason, this planet reeked of danger, it reeked of monstrous combat and monsters who sought death.

Granted? He had not been able to fight… But he would fight the enemy. He would serve the people of the Imperium in the way the perfect legion had.

His men traipsed through the mud behind him, reminding him that he was quiet… That they were quiet… Something within his mind had been harder and harder with each second at the time being.

They were all so interested in something that he could have dealt with it now as of the time… It would be harder and harder with each second.

They had PLENTY of times worth of battles when it had been harder and harder to even see the skies above.

He led his squad, another cog in the imperium and the gears that turned it. He had long since been eager to think of this as another chance to lead the commander… And he would not falter.

They had been warriors for now…. Something which had driven him as he paused, looking up and into the sky… Something which had been interesting.

They had a lot more to deal with, something about it all had been interesting for now and for good reasons… All of them had clashed a thousand times.

"We should be home…." He heard as he sighed to himself.

He tired of their desires to be on other planets, they would drive even the servants on their ships mad if they returned to fight… Something about it had brought them pain and destruction.

He took a deep breath and then sighed to himself with anger in his words and all of it. He had been too interested in it all for now… Something about it all had been harder and harder to reconcile with.

They had fought, something about it all had been too interested in it all before they returned.

If nothing else? They would return.

"Brother? We have heard whispers… The rebels approach." He heard before he looked downwards.

He hummed and then thought of his next move. The rebels had been eager to fight it seemed.

The soldiers of the Astartes all took positions, bolters clicked into place, and armor clanked as the soldiers took up positions. The Emperor's Children had put down rebels before.

This? This would not be something that they had struggled with… They would die, and the rebels would fall dead in their blood.

"Take the supplies, secure the base…" The Sergeant asked to which the others looked over at him.

He had been so interested in trying to fight that he could not… That he could and would require combat… Something which had been held for now and for a good reason.

He raised his bolter and started to fire at the rows of soldiers for now.

Author Notes

Phew. Another chapter is done! I want to point out that the next chapter will be in 2-10 months and will show more of both the battle and set up the crossover. Until the 900–6500-word chapter!

P.S: I am aware of how the EC is… They are not all traitors here and not all corrupted… Just a flawed issue but not all taken by chaos.
