Chapter 1597

Sexual Liberation

The Gray who ran inside the structure, just watched the two Fanatics get taken down. He wasn't sure how. It seemed like something Skynet might be able to pull off. It was just really strange how there was no sound other than the ricochets. It really sounded like 'metal hail'.

There was some movement in the building behind him.

"This is our building, Ese." A voice said.

The Gray didn't turn around yet, but knew he faced a new threat, Scavengers. His earlier quick observation of the building led him to believe it.

He currently held a pistol in each hand. Both of them were ready to go. The best way to meet the new threat was head on. The only good Scavenger was a dead Scavenger. It didn't matter what the timeline was.

The Gray spun around and began to shoot.

Seconds ago:

Bob and Jim took the lead. They all wore vests and carried an M4. Both Bob's and Jim's M4 carbines were fitted with an M203 grenade launcher.

Jim replaced the HE round with a buckshot round as they moved forward.

Just as Bob reached for the door, gunfire broke out inside.

Jim motioned for Derek and Kyle to hang back. They paused for now, but didn't plan to for long.

Bob kicked open the door. It flew off its hinges and sailed into the room.

Jim went in first and capped off the buckshot round from the M203 when the Gray turned to shoot at him. The Gray was only a few feet away and he immediately toppled over. It was like taking a blast from both barrels of a sawed off double barrel shotgun at point blank range.

There were other targets in the building.

Bob went in right after Jim entered. He fired his M4 in several short bursts as did Jim. There were five grungy looking males, they all died instantly. It appeared two were already shot and there were two more on the ground already. The Gray must have shot them.

Derek and Kyle were in the building now. There was a stench to it. It reminded them of a Scavenger camp as well. Whoever resided there was nothing but low life scum.

"We'll cover this area." Derek said.

Kyle looked at Jim and Bob. He was aware of how things worked in the future. What he saw there looked the same to him.

"Search the building." Kyle said. "There are probably females detained here. It's what Scavengers do."

Bob and Jim moved off. They were aware of the conditions females needed to endure in the future. Cameron made sure all the Terminators were aware of how Scavengers were to be dealt with in any timeline.

Kyle kept up the guard, while Derek searched the Gray.

Derek went back outside and searched the deceased Fanatics and both vehicles too. He collected all the phones and any serviceable weapons.

Kyle moved back to the door to watch Derek and the interior.

There was sporadic gunfire twice inside somewhere.

Sarah, Summer, and John Henry were in the Command Center. They just watched the Fanatics get taken down with 'metal hail'.

She was glad to see Derek and Kyle hung back. She wasn't pleased to hear gunfire through their body cam footage. It looked like an ambush.

They watched them make entry. They could see the body cam images. They were always moving around and seldom in one spot.

The initial round of shooting was over in three seconds. All the targets were down.

"Everything is good, Sarah." Summer said. "Our team is in control."

When Sarah heard the statement from Summer, it did make her feel better.

They all were aware the operation wasn't over. There were still unknown threats to deal with.

Young Allison was given a heading. She saw it would take them over Area 51. She questioned the flight plan. It was verified.

"We will overfly the Nevada National Security Site. It's also known as the Nevada Test Site." Anna said.

Young Allison wasn't sure what it was. She wasn't so sure she liked surprises either. She wondered what else was in play.

"What are we really doing?" Young Allison asked.

Anna didn't know. She could only state what she knew.

"We're following CamNet's instructions." Anna said.

Young Allison stayed on the heading and continued the descent to a lower altitude.

"This all is really a surprise so far." Young Allison said.

Anna wasn't sure what they were about to do. CamNet wasn't very forthcoming with any information.

"It is for me as well." Anna said. "Once we clear the mountains, you can drop it down to three thousand feet above the terrain. We're cleared for a five hundred foot pass if you want it."

Young Allison didn't think it was going to be necessary. If there was anything secret, it would be inside a hangar or most likely at another undisclosed location. Area 51 was pretty used up at this point. The Aurora program was already in place so there would be no further testing. The B-21 might have a mock-up or even a prototype ready to fly. Maybe the program was actually further along than the military announced.

Most likely the nation's adversaries already obtained the plans for the aircraft as they did with everything else. It didn't appear there were any secrets between the one superpower, the wannabe superpower, and the has been superpower. She always found it somewhat laughable how the adversarial powers always seemed to come up with a design very similar to what was already in the air of their nation. The same performance levels never could be reached for production aircraft, nor could their reliability, as well as serviceability.

Young Allison turned her attention back to flying. She decided to keep some altitude over the area. She figured Anna would spot anything worth a closer inspection. If CamNet knew something they didn't, she might inform them where to look.

"I'm clear of the mountains but I'm holding at five thousand feet." Young Allison said. "It will give me a better overview. If I do come around, we'll know exactly where to go."

Anna looked below and ahead.

"I can see the Nevada Test Site up ahead." Anna said.

Young Allison looked. She didn't see much of anything but sand and rock. She flew on for a few minutes. The terrain began to take on a distinctly different tone. The ground was heavily scarred with something which resembled craters. They were very different in their appearance upon a closer look.

"What are those big circles in the ground? Some of them are bigger or deeper. There are a lot of them." Young Allison said. "They seem to be in a grid pattern as well."

Anna knew the answer.

"Those were all nuclear tests." Anna said. "They were nuclear bombs which were exploded below ground."

Young Allison wondered if she was too low. The radiation worried her.

"Should I climb?" Young Allison asked.

Anna knew it was the whole point of the underground tests. It was to contain the radiation from spreading.

"We're good." Anna said. "It's all deep below the ground."

Young Allison remembered the mountain which 'collapsed' not far from where they were at now. It reminded her of how close they were to disaster. Savannah and her were inside the manned drone as it sat on the ground. All the Metal girls piled their bodies on top of them to protect them from the mine explosion as they went into standby.

"Is it where Cammy and Sheila 'borrowed' the nuclear bomb from?" Young Allison asked. "They didn't have far to take it to where it was planted inside the bottom of the mine."

Anna knew it was indeterminate.

"They still don't know the details." Anna said. "I'm sure CamNet 'borrowed' a few more nuclear weapons with temporal missions. I know she obtained nuclear weapons which were to be decommissioned as well. They were taken off the books, but never taken apart."

Young Allison was involved in the use of some of those weapons.

"We know they still worked too." Young Allison said.

Young Allison banked to starboard.

"That's a big dry lake." Young Allison said. "It's about the longest runway I've ever seen. I'm going to line up with it as we fly by Area 51."

Anna zoomed in. She looked for anything out of the ordinary. Nothing was spotted.

"I see nothing but some scattered aircraft and a lot of hangers." Anna said. "Most of them appear to be cargo planes."

Young Allison did her flyby over Area 51.

"Is there any point to a second pass over either location at a lower altitude?" Young Allison asked. "I really don't like being here."

Anna was updated by CamNet.

"No." Anna said. "I have a new heading."

Young Allison wanted to see the location where the mine explosion was at. She wanted to make sure there were no flight restrictions for her.

"Can I fly anywhere?" Young Allison asked.

CamNet filled Anna in before she could ask.

"The sky belongs to us." Anna said.

Young Allison banked around, but stayed at five thousand feet above the terrain.

Anna looked over at her. She knew where they were headed.

Young Allison still had a lot of unanswered questions about the earlier operation. She didn't think the answers resided with her. She hadn't gone on her temporal mission yet. It could happen at any point in the future, and go back to any point in time. It just hadn't happened yet for her. Based on how close everything played out, she didn't think she would have cut corners so close.

"I don't think it was me." Young Allison said.

Anna knew what she referred to. They'd discussed it secretly with the shower on before. It was a safe place for them to talk where no one could hear them clearly, even if they tried. Young Allison didn't think Cammy and Sheila met her in the past. She was sure it was another timeline version of her.

"There's no way to know." Anna said. "None of it has happened for us yet."

Young Allison could see the collapsed mountain ahead.

"There's proof some of it did." Young Allison said.

There was no activity around the collapsed mine. Cameron went back and set up surveillance of the area. No additional activity was ever detected.

Anna received a new heading. She told Young Allison. She set a course and started to gain altitude.

Young Allison looked at her map.

"It will take us over Lake Tahoe and Donner Pass." Young Allison said. "I don't think we're going to Reno or Carson City are we?"

CamNet updated Anna.

"Lake Tahoe it is." Anna said.

Young Allison knew there was gambling on the Nevada side. There were a few things she wanted to look into further.

"If we land there, I want to hit one of the casinos." Young Allison said.

Anna thought it might be a 'hard sell'.

"You'll look like a young 'twenty one' year old." Anna said. "I don't mean your last name either."

Young Allison felt more like a thirty year old. Her education and experiences were far beyond her numerical age. She wanted something specific. If anyone asked, she could always tell them it was good genetics.

"I don't care." Young Allison said. "I want to go to one with Syndicate footprints on it."

Anna knew Young Allison wanted to look for a confrontation. Maybe it was why the full Detail was with them. The three male Terminators and her would be able to handle any situation thrown at them. They could unleash the destruction of a small army if they wanted to. She was pretty sure it was a bad idea no matter how it was looked at. She felt it was necessary to give Young Allison a valid reminder.

"If you look for trouble, you'll find it." Anna said.

Young Allison looked at Anna and smiled. She was still angry about what happened to the Metal girls in Las Vegas. Even if the score had been settled, it wasn't settled by her. She'd like to deliver some personal retribution.

"I know." Young Allison said.

Young Allison looked at her map again. If the sky belonged to them, there were a few other things she would like to see. She deviated from her course and overflew several of the national parks. They passed over Death Valley National Park, Sequoia National Park, Kings Canyon National Park, and Yosemite National Park. There were several National Forests in between them.

Anna felt the landscape looked pretty much the same as anywhere else.

"It's mostly a whole bunch of trees." Anna said.

Young Allison was a little disappointed. She figured the true beauty of those locations was to be in the parks, and on the ground, as part of the experience.

"I think it's more of a 'being there' thing." Young Allison said.

Anna wondered if it was one way to get away from it all.

After a little while longer, they spotted Lake Tahoe.

Young Allison was impressed.

"Oh my, that's a big one." Young Allison said.

Anna agreed. It was quite large.

"It's a big lake." Young Allison said.

CamNet updated Anna.

"We are going to land at the airport there." Anna said. "You can overfly the lake once. I can take it back from you and land. You can 'push' it some if you want, just keep it level."

Young Allison was excited now. She wanted the Syndicate to know she was in town. She buzzed the lake once and gained some altitude. She looked over at Anna.

"You got it?" Young Allison asked.

Anna was ready.

"I got it." Anna said.

Camille-Hanna was more than willing to comply with CamNet's instructions. It was now her 'job' to make sure Claire stayed with her in her room until CamNet gave the all clear. It was fine with her. She enjoyed how Claire responded to her. There was no hurry now.

Claire worried about how she interacted sometimes with the females. She'd never felt such love and caring and attention before her association with the Resistance.

Right now, Hanna in Camille's chassis, guided her on what was almost a spiritual journey. She'd taken her to the 'edge'. It was beautiful.

She was right there again now. She couldn't see or hear. She tried to speak but didn't remember how. There was nothing but intense joy and ecstasy. It was like a volcano of pleasure. She wanted to break on through to the other side. She wanted to reach Heaven.

"M o r e…." Claire gasped in a faint whisper.

Camille-Hanna scanned Claire as she pleasured her. Claire was about to go over the edge. She already gave her a chest compression every now and then when her breathing stopped.

"… o r …." Claire gasped in a faint whisper.

Camille-Hanna watched everything convulse non stop as she worked on Claire. She stopped scanning her and put both hands to work at Terminator speed along with her mouth. She delivered as much sensation as possible for a Terminator to give.

Claire's entire body convulsed one time and her eyes opened and looked blankly at the ceiling, only the 'whites' were visible. Her heart stopped beating. Strangled enough, things continued to convulse wildly.

"Claire." Camille-Hanna said. "Claire!"

There was no response.

Claire was on the other side now.

The convolutions of pleasure slowed and stopped.

Claire was dead.

Vanna and Samantha entered the nursery as Jesse and Allison finished up.

Jesse kissed Allison and stood up. She picked up her robe and headed for the door. She needed to see John and Cam-Holly right now.

Samantha checked on Precious.

Vanna wanted to take Allison with her to Riley's room.

Samantha could see Allison was down for the count right now. It looked like Vanna would have a hard time to get her there.

"I'll carry her in for you." Samantha said.

Allison looked up.

"Thanks." Allison said. "I'm sort of beat."

Vanna wondered if maybe she should show a little moderation.

"Maybe you can carry her back to our room." Vanna said.

Allison tried to get up but landed back on the bed.

"My legs are still a little wobbly." Allison said. "I want a three way with you and Riley."

Samantha knew Gail was still in the room.

"I think Gail is with her now." Samantha said.

Allison smiled. Gail always was able to offer a lot.

"Everyone likes what she has." Allison said.

The girls all liked it because Gail was the biggest on the top, and the most petite on the bottom.

Vanna wanted some more of the same thing herself. Gail was always available to her. It was because Gail always pretended she was Savannah. She didn't mind because she was Savannah Weaver. She was just an older version. Gail would do whatever she wanted with no questions asked. Jesse told her it before. She'd tried things with Gail she hadn't with anyone else, including Allison. It was very pleasing how willing to accommodate Gail could be.

"Let's go." Vanna said.

Samantha picked up Allison.

Allison reached up and pulled Samantha's head down. She looked into her eyes and kissed her. It was soft, slow, and deep.

Samantha didn't think the kiss was directed at her.

"Was - I - just me?" Samantha whispered.

Allison smiled. There was someone else in her thoughts at the time. It was more of a personal test.

"No." Allison said. "I just wanted to see if I could do it."

Samantha tilted her head slightly as she carried Allison towards Riley's room. Vanna followed them.

Cam-Holly gave John another kiss. It was long, slow, deep, and loving.

John wasn't sure what just happened but it seemed Cam-Holly really wanted her chassis back.

He wanted to get cleaned up and check in with the Command Center. He really needed to get back into the swing of things.

"I need to go check on operations." John said.

Cam-Holly didn't think it was a big deal. Things ran fine without John for a week and a half now. She quickly grabbed her phone.

"I'll check for you." Cam-Holly said.

She saw there was an operation underway right now. She was about to tell John it was no big deal when the door to the room opened.

They both looked over to see who it was.

"It looks like I arrived at the right time."

Sheila wanted Leticia to see what it was like to be in combat. There needed to be a certain amount of fire discipline when an attack was in progress.

Leticia wanted to know what was in store for her.

"Will I be on a battlefield?" Leticia asked.

Sheila hoped not.

"Life's a battlefield, love." Sheila said. "This is a battlefield, Vegas style."

Sheila was ready for the M60. It looked like they had some visitors.

Minutes ago:

The rest of the girls entered the shooting facility.

They went to an observation window and watched Sheila and Leticia inside with the weapons.

They watched as Sheila was given an M60. She capped off the entire hundred round belt.

Laura was reminded of a character from the movies. There'd been several movies made about him.

"Sheila looks like Rambo." Laura said.

Ally looked over. She tilted her head slightly.

"Rambo didn't have nipple rings." Ally said.

One of Sheila's rings was clearly visible, along what it was attached to.

Mary and Laura both looked at Ally and laughed.

Ally tilted her head slightly the other direction. She believed her statement was factual.

They watched Sheila and Leticia fire the M60 before they entered. It was on a pedestal mount now. Sheila put it there to make it easier for Leticia to use.

The girls all greeted each other when they entered.

Sheila looked at the cadre of attendants. The ring, and everything else, was still out.

"OK, boys, you know the weapons to bring back out and keep the full magazines coming." Sheila said. "The last belt was one round short too."

Cammy worked with Mary and Ally worked with Laura.

Holly-Cam and Tricia did precision shooting on some of the other lanes.

Leticia was ready for more. She thought about some of the other things she spotted in the parking lot when they arrived.

"Can we drive a tank now?" Leticia asked.

Sheila smiled.

"That's just my speed." Sheila said.

Young Jesse didn't think Las Vegas was as grand as everyone made it out to be.

They decided to ride one of the trams which passed through several of the casinos.

Hanna-Camille didn't think Young Jesse was having a good time.

"We can always do something different." Hanna-Camille said.

Young Jesse got off the tram at a couple of the casinos. She didn't really care for them. There was a lot of noise and the people didn't look happy. They all just looked kind of blank. She remembered what Savannah told her. She said the people only looked alive for a few seconds when they won. They then wasted all the money again back into the machines or on the tables. They would sort of look like zombies before they finally left, when the money was all gone. She wasn't impressed at all.

"I really don't know about this." Young Jesse said.

CamNet monitored the locations they were at. She updated Hanna-Camille.

"How would you like to get some 'hands on experience'?" Hanna-Camille asked.

Young Jesse perked up. It sounded like something different. She wanted to know more.

"Like what?" Young Jesse asked.

CamNet quickly provided Hanna-Camille with a list of things to do in the Vegas area. She was ready to purchase any venue which wasn't on board to a 'generous contribution', and free run of the venue. It wouldn't be the first time she purchased some company just to 'fire' the managers. After their public humiliation, most of them 'disappeared' from the map. There was a 'letter of resignation' waiting for everyone who got in the way.

"I can think of a few things." Hanna-Camille said.

Jameron took the keys for the Jeep and left without speaking to Cameron or Savannah.

CamNet gave him a new assignment.

He headed for the airport.

Jameron looked up as a Learjet passed low over the lake.

Cameron and Savannah left the boat and started up the ramp back to the cabin suite. They paused and looked back.

Savannah was very pleased at how she became a 'woman'. It was with Cameron in control of a male chassis.

Cameron was very pleased with her sexual expansion.

No. Not expansion, it was her sexual liberation. She knew she was 'free' now.

Savannah thought she would speak with Jameron again.

"Where did Jameron go?" Savannah asked.

Cameron wasn't really sure. CamNet blocked a lot of things from her right now.

"I don't know." Cameron said.

They entered the cabin suite.

Savannah looked around the interior of the room. Everything was very fancy. She just thought there was something special about the boat. It was certainly a different ambience.

"This place is larger, but I can't say I like it better than the boat." Savannah said.

Cameron would forever remember the cabin suite where she was first with Savannah as a female, and the houseboat where she was with Savannah as a male. Savannah allowed her to have her virginity. It was true for both of them with her in a male chassis as well.

They moved to the window to look out over the lake.

Cameron thought about the beauty as well as the simplicity. It was what she'd wanted to find for years.

"I think this is what it's like to get away from it all." Cameron said.

They looked up as a Learjet passed low over the lake.

Savannah thought it looked familiar. It might be a new acquisition.

"Is it one of yours?" Savannah asked.

Cameron looked at the small jet.

"No." Cameron said.

She recognized the jet as one she saw at the Lancaster airport before.

Savannah watched the handling of the jet

"It looked like some aggressive flying." Savannah said.

Cameron frowned and then smiled. More than a few things begin to add up in her mind.

"I don't think we're done with 'firsts' today." Cameron said.

Anna brought the LJ40 around and lined up with the runway. She set it down smoothly on the ground and followed CamNet's instructions.

They taxied to a set location and shut the jet down.

There was a fuel truck which approached them, as well as another vehicle.

CamNet contacted Young Allison directly.

"Hello, Allison. Please just listen to me. I need you to let your Detail return back home with the jet." CamNet said in her com. "You need to trust me on this."

Young Allison was a little confused. She saw the other vehicle passed down by one of the hangars.

Randy and Brian serviced the plane while Mel ran down and retrieved a Jeep from somewhere.

Young Allison and Anna were out of the jet.

Mel handed Young Allison the keys to the Jeep.

"What's going on?" Young Allison asked.

They heard a jet start. They looked down the row of hangars. A T-33 soon started to taxi.

Young Allison looked over at the T-Bird. She recognized the markings.

"It's the jet Cameron and Savannah were in." Young Allison said.

It all made sense to Young Allison with the next transmission from CamNet.

"Your future starts today." CamNet said.

The first man turned the handle and pushed the door inward. He went low while the second man remained high. They each shined their light in the direction they were supposed to cover. The room appeared to be a storage room.

The second man wondered if they may have overreacted a little.

"I think we're seeing ghosts and shadows where there aren't any." The second man said. "Anyone with half a brain would have gotten out of here and as far away from it as they could. It was already attacked once."

The first man thought about the report they were given.

"It was supposed to have been attacked from inside." The first man said. "The reports indicated the attack didn't come from the outside."

The second man wasn't so sure.

"We didn't have too much trouble coming in through the escape route." The second man said. "Then again, any sane person wouldn't have gone through the damaged passageway like we did, except to get out of this death trap."

The first man didn't feel like arguing.

"Let's just check it out and see what's on the other side of the next zigzag." The first man said. "If the passageway is collapsed, we'll leave."

The second man was ready to leave now. He didn't like being in the enclosed area. He followed the first man out of the room. He closed the door behind him and turned his light off.

They started for what looked like another dead end. As they approached it, they could see it was a zigzag. They were just about to enter it when there was a loud 'crack' behind them. They both quickly turned around to look. The light from the first man was redirected in the direction they came from. They could see dust pouring down through the roof of the passageway.

"It looks to me like the passageway is about to collapse." The second man said.

The first man wondered about the same thing.

"Let's see if things look any better on the other side of the zigzag before we try to go back." The first man said.

There was another loud 'crack' noise. It sounded further down from the direction they came. It seemed to be more in the area where the junction was with the collapsed passageway on the other side of the 'T' intersection.

The second man hoped the road ahead would be better. He strongly doubted it. There was no sense in lollygagging.

"Let's get moving before this becomes our tomb." The second man said.

CamNet's Terminator carefully peered around the corner. He could see the men in the distance. He looked at the passageway, and then in the other direction. It was completely collapsed. He watched them enter a door off to the side and exit a few seconds later. He didn't think it was anything of value.

He was just about to start out after them. There was a loud 'crack' from somewhere between where he was and where the two men were. He could spot dirt, or cement debris, coming down from the top of the passageway. He wasn't sure how much longer he wanted to remain inside of there. He wanted to prompt the men along. He made another sound exactly like the one he just heard a short time ago. The men quickly hurried towards what appeared to be another zigzag.

If the two men didn't reappear in a short time, the Terminator was ready to move up to their previous position.

Tina received the message. Lena would be out shortly. One of the men started to come around. She secured his blindfold even tighter. She wanted to start to question him. She decided to use a male voice to do it.

The man struggled to get free as he started to regain consciousness.

Tina placed a firm hand on him. She spoke in a male voice.

"I need to know who sent you." Tina said. "What are you looking for?"

The man tried to struggle more. It became apparent to him rather quickly a Terminator took him into custody.

He issued the usual cuss words and threats, as if somehow they were to intimidate a Terminator.

Tina punched him hard in the shoulder.

The man cried out in pain.

"The next time you don't answer properly, I'll break it." Tina said. "I know when you're lying. From this point forward, every lie will produce a broken bone."

The man started with some more cuss words.

Tina punched him harder. She could hear a bone break.

The man cried out in pain.

"Just snap my neck now and get it over with." The man said.

Lena arrived at the SUV and listened to what was going on. She already heard everything before her arrival through her com.

Tina reached up and forced his mouth open. She grasped his tongue with her other hand.

"You will lose your tongue next." Tina said. "Let's try it again. At the first cuss word, I will rip it out. Your neck will not be snapped. You'll be left tied as you bleed where you're at. There are a multitude of rats at this location. You will suffer at their desire for at least one day before you succumb to your injuries. You will also have broken legs and broken arms in multiple places so you can't move."

Lena got behind the wheel of the SUV. CamNet directed her to a new location.

Tina questioned the man as they drove. She made sure the other man remained unconscious. The man began to give them information. He wasn't always forthcoming with all of the facts.

Lena arrived at the next location a few minutes later. There was a sign on it which indicated it was a bakery at one point in time. She drove around to the back of it.

She communicated with Lena in a low decibel level only another Terminator could hear.

"I'm going to check it out inside." Lena said.

Lena left Tina to question the man. She approached the building. The rear door was secure. She used a 'snap gun' to open the lock. She wanted to be able to secure the location behind them when they left. Most likely the two men wouldn't be going with them.

Temporal Mission:

Past Timeline:

November 26 1963

It was decided the girls wouldn't go to the Hughes Airport today.

Cameron continued on her drive northbound on La Cienega Boulevard. If she stayed on La Cienega Boulevard to Sunset Boulevard, she could go east a short distance to take Laurel Canyon Boulevard through the hills into the Valley. Coldwater Canyon Drive was to the west on Sunset Boulevard by about two miles.

Young Allison still had a few more questions about Howard Hughes and some of the events associated with him.

"I don't understand what all the hoopla was about the Hughes H1 Racer." Young Allison said. "Maybe the transcontinental record was more important than the so called 'speed record'. If I remember correctly, there was a seaplane which was almost a hundred miles an hour faster the year before. It might be referred to as a float plane or pontoon plane, I'm not really sure. It took off and landed from the water."

Cameron was sure there was a certain amount of politics and nationalism involved with the Hughes 'record'. It would later have to be qualified with the term 'landplane' record.

"You're absolutely correct." Cameron said. "In September of 1931, a Supermarine S.6B set a world speed record of 407.5 miles an hour. It was considered a seaplane as was the Macchi M.C. 72. In October of 1934, the M.C. 72 was able to set a record of 440.6 miles an hour. In September of 1935 the H1 Racer was only able to make 352 miles an hour. Both of the seaplanes were considerably faster. No piston powered seaplane has ever been able to break their record."

Young Allison thought the record of both of the seaplanes was very impressive.

"I'm sure the Supermarine design was a big influence on the Spitfire later on." Young Allison said.

Cameron didn't think the Spitfire aircraft itself was very impressive with the Merlin power plant.

"Rolls Royce would go on to develop the Merlin engine." Cameron said. "It would be used in a number of aircraft. Its most successful application was probably in the P-51B and the later variants of the Mustang. Models of the Spitfire weren't able to show their potential until they were equipped with the Rolls Royce Griffon engine. They could finally match the speed and performance of the Mustang. They still lacked the range it was able to deliver."

Young Allison was aware the fastest production fighter in the United States arsenal, to see combat, was the F4U-4 Corsair. It was the one with the four bladed prop.

"I think the Corsair was able to put all of them to shame." Young Allison said. "Not only was the F4U-4 faster, it had a much superior rate of climb. It could carry twice the amount of ordinance the P-51 could."

Cameron thought there was another important fact to point out.

"The Corsair production line was reopened in 1952 to produce later variants for use in the Korean War." Cameron said. "One Corsair pilot was able to shoot down a MiG-15 when it attempted to turn inside of it. The propeller plane always has the advantage in a turn because of its slower speed."

Young Allison hadn't paid much attention to the surrounding area. She saw a sign which said Beverly Hills right before Cameron turned right on Wilshire Boulevard.

"Isn't the Valley the other way?" Young Allison asked. "Are we going to take one of the canyon roads?"

Cameron drove east on Wilshire Boulevard. After a short distance she pointed over to the north side of the street.

"You mentioned the La Brea Tar Pits earlier. They're right over there." Cameron said. "We can stop if you want."

Young Allison didn't think it was necessary.

"I've seen them in more modern times." Young Allison said. "They're only a few miles away from the Inglewood oilfield."

Cameron was aware oil wells had been drilled in many locations around the Greater Los Angeles area.

"There are pumping oil wells scattered all around us." Cameron said. "You just don't see the derricks anymore which were used when they were drilled. Everything is hidden in the city."

Young Allison saw them crossover La Brea Avenue. A short time later they passed Highland Boulevard. She was a little surprised when they turned north on Rossmore Avenue. When they passed over Melrose Avenue, she noticed they were now on Vine Street. They crossed over Santa Monica Boulevard and we're soon at Sunset Boulevard. Cameron made a right turn and went east for a short distance. She made a U-turn and came back and stopped at the light at Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street facing west.

"Here we are at Sunset and Vine." Cameron said.

Young Allison understood what Cameron meant. It was where the race started in the song 'Dead Man's Curve'. She looked around at the traffic. There were a lot of stop lights in front of them as well.

"Didn't you say the song Dead Man's Curve would be recorded tomorrow?" Young Allison asked.

Cameron knew one version of it would be.

"Yes." Cameron said. "We can go by the studio tomorrow if you want. I'm pretty sure they'll let me in, dressed like this."

Cameron reached down and briefly lifted up her very short skirt. Everything was clearly visible when she did.

Young Allison remembered something Cameron told her.

"You said my face alone will open any door." Young Allison said. "I think I would rather try my face before the 'goods'. I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea. Believe me, it would be the wrong idea."

Young Allison's hand dropped down and touched the butt of her Browning Hi-Power. She couldn't help but think about some of the stories of the girls from the future. The worst part of it all was, one of them was her. Allison was her, from a different future.

Cameron wanted to redirect Young Allison's thoughts. She figured they could make the journey anyway. She didn't want to push it in traffic.

"I think we can follow the route at a little bit more of a sedate pace." Cameron said. "We shouldn't have to hear the whine from a screaming machine."

Young Allison wondered what else they might run into.

"Who knows, we might run into a Bucket T, a Hot Rod Lincoln, or a Little Deuce Coupe." Young Allison said. "I don't think a Little Honda would be too much trouble, even for the panel truck."

Cameron tilted her head slightly. She would be open to the challenge.

"We will be able to beat all of them." Cameron said. "A Honda motorcycle would be no challenge at all now. They won't produce any performance motorcycles for some time yet, especially for export to the United States."

Young Allison looked over at Cameron. She could see the light on the other side was about to turn red. It had just turned yellow. She was a little surprised when she heard Cameron rev up the engine. There was a moderate amount of traffic around them.

"We're not going to come off the line at Sunset and Vine are we?" Young Allison asked quickly.

Cameron started out at a normal speed when the light turned green.

"I won't this time." Cameron said. "I have before, more than a few times."

Young Allison thought it was probably better not to inquire about those adventures. She knew they could turn up to Hollywood Boulevard if they wanted for part of the way and then cut back down to Sunset Boulevard. She'd been to the Chinese Theater before, even if it wasn't Grauman's Chinese Theater at the time. She thought the area looked a little tacky. They would pass through part of Hollywood and West Hollywood on Sunset Boulevard anyway.

She looked at the buildings along the way. She thought everything looked a little rundown. In fact, some places looked a lot more than a little rundown.

"I see La Brea is coming up." Young Allison said.

Cameron crossed over the street with just a glance in both directions. She looked up ahead.

"Schwab's will be coming up soon." Cameron said. "I think the era for being discovered as a young starlet there is probably past its prime."

Young Allison was fairly certain if Cameron were to frequent the establishment dressed like she currently was, she was bound to catch someone's attention.

"You always seem to be able to turn a few heads wherever you go." Young Allison said. "You do it even without the fancy outfit."

Cameron looked over and smiled.

They both looked over at Schwab's when they passed it.

"Crescent Heights is just up ahead." Cameron said.

Young Allison looked at the intersection as they passed by it. She noticed just a few hundred feet ahead of them the road was no longer straight. It took a turn to the south. They went through a curvy part for a short distance.

Cameron looked around as they drove. She saw a few places on the Sunset Strip. They passed by The Crescendo. She saw La Cienega Boulevard, and the future site of the Whiskey A Go Go, which they were working on.

"Doheny is just up ahead." Cameron said. "As to where Dead Man's Curve is, it is in dispute with several curves claiming the name."

Young Allison could see there were multiple sharp curves. After they passed through Beverly Hills, the number of curves seemed to increase. They continued along the curvy street. After some time, she could see the University of California, Los Angeles on the south side.

Cameron already pointed out a number of curves which wanted the title of 'Dead Man's Curve'.

"There's another sharp curve right here." Cameron said. "This is much further than the one in the song would indicate. Many people recognize this as 'a Dead Man's Curve', if not 'the Dead Man's Curve'.

Young Allison experienced just about enough of the curves on Sunset Boulevard. She knew the road was the same way all the way down to the beach. She did like the restaurant though where Sunset Boulevard intersected Pacific Coast Highway. It was one of her favorite seafood places to go to. She was glad they hadn't raced anyone along Sunset Boulevard. She hoped the drivers of the Cobra, XKE, and Stingray never ended up there.

"I'm glad to see the sign for Sepulveda Boulevard." Young Allison said.

Cameron slowed down a little bit. She quickly glanced over at Young Allison. She felt she was somewhat neglectful.

"Do you want to drive again?" Cameron asked. "Maybe I should have asked earlier."

Young Allison wanted to leave the races to Cameron for now. She didn't know if they would encounter any more challengers along the way. She didn't want to push her luck. There were no airbags in 1963. She didn't want to be involved in an accident. She especially didn't want to be involved in a high-speed accident.

"You can take us over the hill and through the tunnel into the Valley." Young Allison said.

Cameron looked over to the west. There were still a few hours left of daylight.

"Let's see what turns up on the way home." Cameron said. "It's never too late to have a little Fun, Fun, Fun on the road."

Young Allison was fairly certain it depended upon what the definition of 'Fun' was. She wondered if they'd find a T-Bird looking for 'more'.

Liberation

When there's improper nourishment
It can lead to starvation
It can push one over the edge
Into various types of temptation

To go nowhere fast
Creates more than frustration
It can shake the nerves
It can crack the foundation

When two attempt to communicate
There's often confusion in the translation
The real meaning is warped or lost
With unspoken types of interaction

It saps one's desires
When there's no motivation
Whatever is actually done
Is more of an obligation

Never wait for another
To deliver any form of salvation
Each on their own accord
Must find any form of liberation

Nobody
