Lily woke up the next day and immediately lifted her hand to see if the ring was there or not, to see whether it was real or she was just dreaming.

The ring was there, simple yet beautiful just the way she liked, she couldn't believe it, she was engaged to James Potter, the idiot. She squeaked happily as she got up from her bed.

Mary, Marls and Hestia were all woken up shocked by this happy early morning, Lily.

"Girls! I am engaged," said Lily happily.

"We saw it," smiled Marls. "The whole school must have seen it, the fireworks were not quite."

"Merlin's pants! I didn't realise that. But still, see the ring," said Lily happily holding up her hand and all the girls rushed to see it.

Lily and James were grinning so much as they walked into the great hall that they were sure that they will have aches by night. The grin looked like was pasted on their faces by sticking charm.

"The most eligible bachelor after me has been taken! So, suck on it!" announced Sirius loudly as he followed the couple.

Several people wolf-whistled and both Lily and James turned red.

"So, you saw the house too?" asked Mary. "How was it?"

"Just amazing," replied Lily looking at James. Lily put her hands on her cheeks to push them back.

"What are you doing?" asked Sirius confused.

"She couldn't stop smiling and now her cheeks are all sore," laughed Marls.

"I am so so happy that I can't even describe it," said Lily happily raising her hands.

"We understand your happiness Ms Evans but will recommend you to keep your voice down," smiled McGonagall from the staff table. It was now that Lily realised that she has spoken quite loudly than she intended. She blushed and muttered a sorry.

"She is soon to be Mrs Potter, Minnie," said Sirius loudly and Lily blushed further, she hid her face in James' shoulder, who put a hand around her shoulder and chuckled.

"I am just as happy as you, if not, more," he told Lily.

"Well someone needs to teach me how to perform the cursed barrier spell," said Mary eyeing the two pairs cuddled together.

"I will help you," said Lily, "I used it one night around us to prevent the death eaters from coming near our hiding place."

"What's the difference between the powers of Manticore and Chimera? Can we use the same spell to fight them?" asked Peter while reading Mary's notes.

"I can explain it to you," offered Remus taking the notes from him.

The last night in forest helping James was a great night for Peter,he quite enjoyed it more than usual. Clara has found them and joined them halfway, the best thing for Peter was that she was talking with him instead of other girls who go for Sirius or Remus or James. Sirius and Remus had handled all things and that has given Peter space and time to talk with Clara. She was quite excited to hear about their animagus transfiguration, this was the only secret Peter was allowed to talk about but it has been good.

Lily's most of the day was spent with Mary and Marlene as they sat together on the grass to go over all the theories, important theories at least. She didn't need much practice as she has gotten enough experience for that. She looked over Mary's shoulder to find James answering to the questions Sirius was asking from past year's papers, his back was only facing her so he didn't noticed her.

Jealousy would be the right word to describe what Mary was feeling as she watched Lily, was she happy for Lily? With all her hearts, she was very happy for her, the look on Lily's face was enough to tell her that she herself was happy to see Lily so happy. But she couldn't help and feel jealous with her, the reason being that her relationship with Remus has been now compared with James and Lily had.

She had said the three words to him but it has been two weeks and he has just acted that he hasn't heard it. Why does he have to be so hard? It seems as though each day his feelings for her has been shrinking or was he hiding, she didn't knew and decided it was not the time to worry about it.

Exams be damned, Snape has been not able to sleep properly since last night with all those fireworks going out, being in the dungeons he wasn't able to see a thing but could hear them at distant.

Then in morning he has heard few Ravenclaws talking about how romantic and beautiful, he hasn't understand what was going on until Sirus Black has shouted it, his head has jerked towards her, he has never seen her this happy, her eyes were only focused either in her fingers or the messy boy sitting next to her.

It was when he has heard Lily shouting happily about her happiness that Snape realised that no matter how much he want her, love her, he can never have her, she has chosen Potter, she is going to be married to him now. And she is happy, very happy, so much happy that Snape thought he has never seen anyone as happy as she was. No, there was another person who was just as happy as she was, Potter. Potter has finally gotten what he wanted.

Potter has had everything served to him on his plate ever since he was born, born with a golden spoon, the boy was arrogant, git, stupid, full of himself. And now he has got her too.

He had been looking for an opportunity to talk to her, to find if it's really true or some prank (though he knew it had happen but still one can hope.) He wanted to ask her the questions, he knew that she was far away from his reach and that she will never return but still he hoped, one day their relationship will fail and she'll come back to him, he hoped.

Finally, he saw her alone, walking out of the library, two books in her arm and a parchment opened in her front, she was smiling and humming as she walked, looking at the parchment every now and then, and smiling, probably memorizing something. His attention was drawn to something shining on her hand, that was holding the parchment and his heart broke.

"I see the news is true then," he spoke.

Lily who was lost in his own world and has been asked the whole day by people to show the ring, thought this was another person happy with her happiness. Even Liza, who wanted James has come to see Lily's ring and has admired it and let it slip that she was jealous of her. Lily's happiness couldn't be described even Minnie and Sprout has admired the show last night and Lily's ring.

Lily beamed and raised her hands to show the ring before looking at the person, "Yeah, it's really really beautiful, isn't it? James knows that I don't like heavy so. . ." she stopped abruptly when she saw Snape there. But she was way too happy to be angry or sad by seeing anyone, she would even greet Voldemort happily and show her ring to him, of course before he kills her

"Aren't you engaged so young?"

"I don't know if I will long enough, so better enjoy the life before a death eater kills me," Lily replied and Snape felt a pang at her words.

"So, if you were sure that you'd live long enough then you wouldn't have gotten together with him?" Snape raised his eyebrows hopefully.

"I would still have gotten together with him. No matter how they toss the dice, it had to be James for Lily and Lily for James, it had to be James and Lily," Lily replied simply as it was the most obvious thing.

"He can't protect you, you know from the war outside," Snape pointed out.

"He doesn't need to, I can protect myself and we can protect ourselves together and even if death comes I know, James and I, we both are ready to die fighting, for what's right," Lily snapped.

"His arrogance and stupidity have gotten into you too, otherwise you wouldn't talk like this about dying," Snape said disgustingly.

"His love, loyalty and bravery have gotten into me. And not all of us are afraid to die, some of us have already accepted death, it's the truth of life," Lily replied.

"Why him?" asked Snape desperately, now knowing that Lily has already made up her mind.

"Excuse me?"

"Why him, why you chose him of all people?" Snape asked, each word taking loads of effort to come out. "He is not a good person, he still hexes people, he still breaks rules, he still is arrogant and show-off, tries to charm professors and makes fun of others, he's a wanker and a bloody prick, he has no sense and in his nobility and so call bravery he'll die."

"ENOUGH!" Lily's voice rang in the corridor and the few students winced and jumped at it, Snape automatically took three steps backwards. "Beware, Snape, it's my fiance you're talking about." As she said the word 'fiance' her chest swelled with proudness and happiness.

"Why James?" repeated Lily. "A simple answer, because I love him. Even if he was still that douchebag he was in his fifth year, he may have bullied others but he was nice to me, he was nice to his friends and family, he cared for each of his close ones dearly since day one, and once I got to knew that James, I started liking him. He learned later that he should expand that to everyone and he did so, he grew out of that small thing and look now he is a Head Boy, ask a first year, and they'll all say that this Head Boy is best. He now looks out for everyone who is good at heart, he makes fun, true but that is just a light thing, and no one is a saint in this world, we're humans, and we all make mistakes but what defines us is the willingness to correct our mistake and working hard to correct those mistakes and become a better person each day.

James accepted his mistake at the lake that day that he crossed the line but Mary, Marls and others, even I who knew what you and your gang did to innocent people just because they're muggleborns or their parents are blood traitors, believe that you had it coming on you for a long time."

"It still doesn't justify his bullying," snarled Snape. "And you forgave him but not me. He only shows he changed to get you."

"No, it doesn't justify, he crossed the line and he accepts it. He told about it to his parents too and he was guilty about it, and then he changed, he changed not only to get me but because he realized that he needs to change for himself, to be a better person, he realized that there are more important things in the world than stupid things. He is now devoted to making this world a better place for everyone.

Why I didn't forgive you? You were already obsessed with dark arts and joining death eaters and then you became one too. I started noticing at the end of our third year that you were getting into evil things but I thought you will come to your senses each day you fell deeper and deeper into the dark arts. You started insulting people like me and people who stood against blood supremacy. Your gang wants me dead, they killed my parents, harmed James' parents, killed my friend in Hogsmeade. And you ask me why I didn't forgive you."

Snape looked down.

"Look, Snape, this is the best day, I don't want to spoil my mood by talking and explaining things to you about my life as we're no longer friends. It's you who hate James and if you don't want to see the goodness in him, no one can make you. Learn to grow up and don't hold grudges," Lily sighed and began walking. A smile made its way to her lips as she saw the ring again. She frowned however when Snape rushed to walk by her side.

"Did it mean anything to you? Did our friendship meant anything to you?" he asked and Lily stopped and looked at him as if he were a lunatic.

"It should be I who should ask this question as you once said that being a muggleborn didn't matter and then you went on to call me a mudblood," Lily snapped.

"It meant everything to me, really," Snape replied urgently.

"It meant to me, that friend told me about this world first. But you aren't that person anymore, for me my that friend is dead, I don't recognize you anymore. With that mark on your hand, you're my enemy and nothing more. The Snape that I knew or I thought I knew wouldn't have betrayed me."

"If I hadn't called you that name then. . . would you remain my friend?"

"No, our friendship was already falling apart and you put the final nail in the coffin that day and then when you used your spell on James and I asked no Begged you to save him, you just. . .asked why I care for him, and it was that day, that you were dead to me. You never accepted my friends for who they are and I will not accept your death eaters friend.

I used to sometimes wonder whether you even thought of me as your friend or not because you never cared for things that matter to me, things that I love, it never mattered to you. You hated Mary, Marls, and Petunia, and you began hating James and asked me to leave him when I was partnered with him and we were becoming friends."

"I cared for you Lily, I was your friend," he defended.

"Friends want other friends' happiness and not join a group that is meant to kill them," Lily said angrily.

"If. . . if I hadn't joined them . . . if I hadn't called you that and we were friends do you think we would ever get together instead of with Potter?" he couldn't help it, he has to know it.

"You had a choice back then and you chose the wrong path. And weren't you listening to what I said? You never cared for my happiness, you hates my sister from the start..."

"But you too hate her."

"For Merlin's sake! she is my sister, and sisters do fight and shout but deep down we love each other," Lily said horrified that he would say that. "It was always about what you wanted. I should have known that you hated muggles, my muggle family, the moment you insulted Petunia on the train but I ignored it."

"I didn't meant it..."

"Look, Snape, you were just my friend, I saw you as a big brother because I always wanted a brother since I was a kid, I saw you as my brother but you didn't deserve that, you didn't even reached to that place where I can call you brother but I don't feel sad because now I have three brothers, and all of them love me and care for me. You and I, Snape were just friends always. A friendship that you destroyed and I am glad you did because I didn't wanted to be a friend of a death eater."

She stormed off after giving Snape a disgusting look. Lily look at the parchment in her hand and smiled again, not everyone can understand the relationship between the Evans sisters. The letter was short and a little rude but it showed that her sister loves her.

Lily,
I received your letter in the morning from that stupid blue owl called Sage. You don't have to write in the letter 'HAPPY' hundreds of times, it practically shouts how happy you are. Congrats on being engaged. Mum and Dad would have been happy as they loved you. That Potter guy has got some brain and tolerance for you and only a freak like he can handle a freak like you. I miss them and I know you do too. The war isn't your fault, we heard about an attack in Surrey's main market and people with clothes like in your world, were there to handle the damage, Vernon and I were passing and saw that. Hope you're safe. I still don't want your magic near my house because I don't want my family to get hurt. Do tell me about the date when you set one.
Tuney.

"What is that?" asked James as Lily entered the common room.

"Tuney replied to my letter when I told her about your proposal," grinned Lily sitting beside him. "See."

"Blimey! She still calls us freaks and doesn't wants us near her house," said James after reading the letter.

"Can you blame her?" sighed Lily sadly.

"No, sorry," he said pulling her closer to him. "One day the war will be over and you freely go to her house." Lily nodded.

"We can go on dinner somewhere out and safe in the muggle world later. Right?"

"Yeah, that's a good plan, we will go on a dinner after graduation," James kissed her forehead.

She told him about what Snape said earlier.

"Ignore him, he's just looking to spoil our happiness," James sighed and Lily nodded.

"Wanna go over the wand movement of all the spells?" asked Lily and James nodded enthusiastically.

The next two weeks passed very slowly as well as very fast too. James thought he did good in the exams, he was sure of an 'O' in Transfiguration and D.A.D.A. and if lucky in Charms too.

"Potions didn't go well, I messed up my potions practical, I had to add three anticlockwise stir every three minutes but I did that in intervals of two minutes and then forget about adding scurvy grass in last," he sighed.

"You will still get an 'E', don't worry," Lily assured him. Her exams went well too, though her answers in Transfiguration were shorter and she had to rush in end and even having to miss a question.

Mary was the happiest, all her exams went well, she was just a little worried about Charm practical.

Marls exams went well in all subjects, and she decided to not discuss her exams to the rest and instead have a good sleep.

Peter on the advice of Sirius has not cared how it went, they both were just happy that it was over, Moony, however, was worried about Charms' theory.

Sirius and Peter sneaked into Hogsmeade and returned with hands full of butterbeer and firewhisky bottles as soon as the last exam was over.

"Stop talking about exams. It's time to relax, chill and party," they both announced as they entered the dorm.

"Thanks Merlin!" exclaimed Marls standing and hugging Sirius. "Firewhisky! You both are saviour, these four are killing me."

Lily drank too much than she could handle in her challenge with Sirius and thus James had to handle a drunk Lily.

"JAMES!" she said excitadely standing on his trunk as he came near her. "You have become shorter."

"Nope, you have grown," he said pointing at the trunk.

She ignored him and jumped on him. "I will call you Hubby! soon."

"No, I don't like it," James has to suppress his laughter.

Lily pouted,"You're bad."

James ruffled her hairs while holding her with other hand, "And you're cute."

Lily grinned, "We're getting married."

"Yes," he grinned back and Lily kissed him, her legs wrapped around his waist.

"I hate Sirius," she said as Sirius passed them with another bottle in his hand. "He forced me to drink too much."

"I warned you not to compete with him," he laughed as she buried her head into his neck. "Lils, you're biting me," he hissed.

"Sorry, you're tasty," she replied.

"Should I be worried?" he asked taking as he pinned her to wall for support.

"You know what I mean," she said. "James I want to do it."

"Now?" Here?" he asked kissing her shoulder.

"Yes, I want to, no I want to dance for now, that later but I am too drunk but I want to dance and then have you but I want to dance now. " she said. James laughed at her stupid comments. "I want to dance on Ob-la-di but I am drunk."

Mary who was sitting nearby, heard Lily and laughed, and walked up to them. "I have got a spell but you'll puke for a bit and then you'll be back to okay."

Lily looked at James and then at Mary. "I want to dance."

"Use the spell, Mary. I got her," James smiled as Lily kissed him.

After two minutes James was holding her while Lily puked in the dorm's bathroom.

"Remind me to kill Sirius when I get out of here," groaned Lily.

"We will kill him together," James chuckled rubbing her back. "Let's get you cleaned."

As they exited the bathroom, Marls handed Lily a juice, "Drink, it will lighten your mood and cheer you up."

"Thanks, Marls. Sorry if I kill your boy tonight," said Lily drinking the juice in one go.

"By all means, go ahead," laughed Marls.

"You'll not want to kill me, I have set up the stage for dance and Remus has set up the music," grinned Sirius appearing beside Marls.

"James, kill the bastard," said Lily.

"Hey! Where's Pete?" asked James looking around. "He has been gone with my cloak for about twenty minutes."

"He has gone to bring in a special guest," winked Remus and the three boys laughed.

"What?" asked Marls.

"He has got a crush on a girl who has gotten a crush on him," answered James.

"Who?" Lily inquired.

"You all don't know her," Sirius said.

"It's Clara," said Mary shaking her head.

"How do you know?" asked Remus.

"Well, Pete and I share everything," Mary replied. "We were neighbours for years, remember?"

"Yeah, but I thought we were to share everything," said Remus narrowed eyed trying not to smile.

"You're not my that good friend, you're just my boyfriend," smirked Mary. "I talk about you to him and he tells me your deep secrets."

"Yeah right, we only share everything with our besties," said Marls.

"Well, we're lucky then," smiled James looking at Lily.

"Yes, we share everything with each other," Lily smiled too.

"You both are different that's why. If everyone began comparing their relationship with you two's relationship then many relationships will be broken," Marls rolled her eyes.

"HEY!, Guys, Clara is here," announced Peter removing the cloak.

Lily noticed that Clara was a little shorter than Peter and had the same posture as him

"This is Lily. . Marlene. . and Mary," James introduced.

"Let's begin the dance then," announced Sirius.

Ob-la-di, ob-la-da
Life goes on, brah
La, la, how the life goes on

And if you want some fun
Take Ob-la-di-bla-da
Thank you

Then the next song played: Stayin alive.

Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk
I'm a woman's man, no time to talk
Music loud and women warm, I've been kicked around
Since I was born

Life goin' nowhere, somebody help me
Somebody help me, yeah (oh)
Life goin' nowhere, somebody help me, yeah
I'm stayin' alive

Then the last two songs shook the Gryffindor tower but Lily's charms held them in place and gave them privacy. The song was: Ain't No Mountain High Enough and itsy bitsy tiny winey yellow polka by Brian Hyland.

Tired but happy, Lily lay next to James on his bed, she held James and her hands in front of them and they were looking at the ring that was shining in the darkness.

"You know this bracelet that you gave me lights up from time to time, I don't understand how and why," she spoke.

"The witch at the shop said it was ancient and for protection, I brought it because it looked beautiful," James replied.

"I don't want a long engagement," she told him.

"Neither do I," he assured her.

"James, we'll do an outdoor wedding, a very small one, only close friends and members, I don't want too much hustle-bustle," she said and he raised his head to look at her face.

"Are you sure? Girls usually want a big wedding and whatnot," he inquired.

She frowned at him. "Well, Potter, I am not like the rest of the girls. I want a small quiet wedding, just the people we love and people who love us. Only they matter, the rest is a formality," she said pulling his head down."

"Petunia? Will she come?" asked James.

"It's way too complicated there, she loves me and I love her but our relationship hasn't been an ideal relationship, she is way too jealous of me and then her marriage with that Vermin didn't help as I think he fills her ears. And then mum and dad died so since then..."

"Does she still blames you?"

"I wrote a few letters and she hasn't been too nice about it. She said I can stay with her for a few months but will have to leave my magic behind,"

"So, the problem with her is magic and Vermin."

"We'll send them an invitation and see what happens. I am glad that she's at least replying to my letters now."

"Lils, you both are sisters, she is your elder sister, she was bound to cool down and look after you, it's in her nature, no matter how much she's jealous."

The next day, James and Marls spent the entire day in Quidditch training as the last match was to be played between Gryffindor and Slytherin tomorrow. It was also the deciding factor of who will win the cup between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff, the latter was leading by 30 points. So, if Gryffindor had to win the cup, they had to win by more than 30 points.

Lily made the way to the pitch with James, Marls and Sirius, while their other three friends were still behind. Lily has worn the Jacket today, and this time it was back to its original words: 'LILY POTTER.'

"Give me a good luck kiss, Evans," demanded James when they reached to the spot where he has to go to the locker room. Lily grinned and pulled him into a passionate kiss.

"Take a good luck kiss from me, Mckinnon," grinned Sirius, Marls rolled her eyes but kissed him.

"Let's go sis, and kiss their arses," said James pulling her to the locker room.

The match began with loads of cheering, the only thing missing was Regulus Black on the pitch, the new seeker was quite fat to be a seeker who needs to be fast and quick.

"Catch the snitch as soon as possible and make sure not when they're in enough lead, okay?" James told Kevin who nodded. "Come on guys, this is mine and Marlene's last match and I want it to be special. I want to kick their sorry arses. So, will you fulfil your captain's wish?"

"AYE! AYE! CAPTAIN!" they all shouted.

The match began (WILL WRITE THE MATCH SOON)
