Allura woke up and looked down at her stomach. It had not grown at all. Panic-stricken, she ran to the infirmary where Coran was. "Coran, something is wrong," Allura said panicking.
Coran looked at her and smiled, "Nothing is wrong princess, your pregnancy is just progressing at normal speed this time," he assured Allura.
"Oh, that is a relief," Allura replied calming down. "Do you know of any books on baby care?"
"Of course. I'm glad you have decided to learn more," Coran replied.
"I have to, with another on the way I have to be able to carry my fair share of the load. I cannot keep relying on Keith so much. It is not fair to him, especially because of his paladin duties."
"It's not fair Blue," Lance told his Lion while he sat in the cockpit. "Why did Keith have to be the one to have a baby with Allura? It should have been me! I mean I love my son, but I can not help but wish… and what in the world happened to Pidge's hair? I mean what's up with that?! Not her hair obviously." He fidgeted with the controls as he continued his rant. "Why does the non-princess have to have the beautiful golden hair? I mean imagine if she were to wear a dress," Lance shook his head, "Now… how do I make Allura fall for me?"
Pidge stood outside Blue and having heard every word left the hanger she was on a dress hunt.
The Paladins stood in front of the Green Lion. The Lion's mouth opened and they waited in anticipation for the new Paladin to emerge. Just as Lance was about to say something, Matt appeared in the opening.
"Matt!" Pidge called out and ran into her brother's arms after handing Roary to Lance.
"Finally!" Lance said finally getting to hold his son again since Pidge was being a baby hog. Turning around, Lance left to have one-on-one time with his baby.
"So where is your baby?" Matt asked his sister after she explained what happened.
"Lance has him," Pidge replied, "I may have been a bit of a baby hog." Matt laughed.
"Oh, and Allura's pregnant again," Pidge said having already brought up Pipsi.
"You've got to be joking," Matt said in disbelief.
"Nope," Pidge replied.
"Does that mean…?" Matt started to ask.
"No," Pidge replied. "Coran said she only had a 30% chance."
"Actually, it becomes a lot more likely if you get regular hormone spikes," Coran corrected. "Though it is still unlikely that your sister will get pregnant again."
"Can we come out now?" a young Galra about Matt's age holding a one-year-old in her arms said appearing at the entrance to the Green Lion.
"Oh of course Bryla," Matt said coming to her side and taking the young child into his arms. "Bryla this is my baby sister, Katie, Katie this is my wife Bryla, and my son Samual."
"Wait what?!" Pidge exclaimed.
Pipsi giggled in Keith's arms.
"Bryla this is my best friend Keith and his daughter Pipsi," Matt said gesturing towards Keith.
"Nice to meet you, Keith," Bryla said with a smile.
"You too," Keith replied smiling back.
"How did I not know this?" Shiro asked mind spinning referring to Matt and Keith being best friends.
"You did," Keith said flatly, "You just forgot."
"Can I hold him?" Pidge asked.
Matt smiled at his sister, "Of course," he said handing him over. "Say hi to your auntie Katie, Sammy."
"Matt this is Roary," Pidge said approaching her brother and handing him his nephew.
"He's so cute," Matt said cooing at his new nephew. Roary smiled up at his uncle.
"Oh my gosh, that was his first smile!" Pidge gushed. "Oh," Pidge said, "Lance is going to be so mad he missed it that it's not even funny."
"Then we should probably make sure he doesn't miss the second," Matt said.
Keith brushed his hair over his ears to hide the earbud comms that Pidge and Matt had whipped up for them and headed into the village. He and the other Paladin were dressed like the locals, so they could blend in while they searched for their contact. Pulling on his visionless cap, Keith scanned the crowd. Not seeing their contact, he looked down at his self. As far as alien clothes go, he thought these were nice. In fact, he kind of liked them, and he looked good in them too, or at least the princess thought so.
He was wearing a red button-up shirt under brown overalls. The straps of the overalls were embroidered decoratively. Underneath the straps was an embroidered open-topped rectangle and starting from the bottom of the corners of the rectangle were decorative diagonal lines that stopped before they met in the middle that ran to his sides.
Out of nowhere a dozen Galra soldiers marched into the village and halted in the center. The soldiers grabbed Keith's arm from behind, "You look intelligent," he sneered. Keith fought back the urge to hiss, unwilling to blow his cover and compromise the mission. Keith watched helplessly as the soldiers rounded up the other paladin along with many others in the crowd. None of the others fought back either fearing what would happen if their identities were discovered.
Keith was pushed into a chair roughly causing him to grunt. A Galra commander was standing in front of the small table at which Keith was forcibly seated. It was covered with a bunch of tools, wires, and parts. The Galra commander slammed a device onto the table, "Fix," the commander demanded ruthlessly.
Keith scowled but did what he was told while the commander's ruthless gaze bore into him. The device was needlessly complex in a way that under different circumstances would have driven him bats. "Fixed," Keith said defiantly.
The commander snatched the device from Keith's outstretched hand and examined it. "Good," he barked a cruel smile spreading across his face. "Come with me he ordered yanking Keith heartlessly out of the chair and slamming his side into the table. Keith clutched his side just above his waistline where it had hit the table. Walking just in front of the commander with a blaster to his back through Galra-infested hallways, Keith dreaded what was to come. Fixing the device was obviously a test, one he knew that Lance probably would fail, and if that were the case Keith was worried about what would become of his friend.
The Galra commander pushed Keith roughly through a doorway causing him to stumble in. Matt and Hunk were already inside but as he feared Lance was nowhere in sight making him only more worried about his friend's safety. "Up," the commander yelled at Matt and Hunk. At the sound of the commander's gruff, forceful voice, the boys instantly jumped to their feet.
Pushing the boys through, the commander slammed and locked the door behind them. They were standing in the middle of a laboratory full of hundreds of working prisoners. The crowd shifted as someone pushed his way through the crowd into the open.
Matt gasped, "Dad?!"
