Amy's perspective

Back at the mall, I go to the soap store where Blaze works at. I talk to her about my day with The Plastics: their excessive rules with clothes, Rouge's prank call on Honey Chang's mom, her embarrassing mom, and of course, the Burn Book.

"...and they have this awful book where they write mean things about all the girls in our grade!" I exclaim to Blaze as she stands behind the front counter.

"What does it say about me?" she asks, curious to know.

I can't tell her that The Plastics called her 'devil's child'. Instead, I lie, "You're not in it."

Blaze turns away from me angrily muttering, "Those bitches."

Big walks up to us and asks Blaze, "Will this minimize my pores?" while holding up a small jar of white cream.

"No," she bluntly answers him. She turns back to me and says, "Amy, you gotta steal that book."

"No way!" I cry.

"Oh, come on!" she insists. "We could publish it, and then everybody will see what an ax-wound she really is!"

"I don't steal," I tell her.

As Big grabs a bottle of lotion and holds it up for Blaze, she snatches it from him saying, "That is for your feet." She sighs and explains to me, "Amy, there are two kinds of evil people: people who do evil stuff, and people who see evil stuff being done and don't try to stop it."

"Does that mean I'm morally obligated to burn that lady's outfit?" Big asks his lavender friend, pointing to a brown chipmunk wearing a black vest with vertical stripes of various colors over a light blue blouse and black slacks. She looks really familiar...

Blaze seems to catch on to that woman as well. "Oh my God, that's Ms. Parker!" she exclaims. "I love seeing teachers out in public. It's like seeing a chao wave its arms."

Ms. Parker sees us and walks over to greet us. "Hey guys, what's up?" She then says to Blaze, "I didn't know you worked here."

"Yeah," she nods. "moderately priced soaps are calling my name. You shopping?"

"No," Ms. Parker answers. "I'm just here with my boyfriend."

We just stare at our teacher, completely stunned. A boyfriend, after she got divorced over the summer?

"Joking," she awkwardly smiles. "Sometimes older people make jokes."

That joke was terrible. Big adds to the conversation, "My abuela takes her wig off when she's drunk."

"Your abuela and I have that in common," Ms. Parker replies, then changes the conversation. "No, actually, I'm just here because I bartend a couple nights a week next to Casinopolis."

She then turns her attention to me. "Amy, I hope you do join Mathletes," she tells me. "We start in a couple weeks, and I would love to have a girl on the team!"

Aw, that's so sweet! And then...

"Just, you know, so the team could meet a girl," Ms. Parker finishes.

Silver and the others really want me on the team, huh? I don't really care if I'm gonna be the only girl there. Just doing an after-school activity involving one of my passions is enough for me to join.

"I think I'm gonna do it," I tell her.

"Great!" Ms. Parker smiles.

Big frowns at this. "You can't join Mathletes!" he warns me in rapid speed. "It's social suicide!"

Ms. Parker sighs, closes her eyes and puts her fingers between her eyes in embarrassment. "Thanks, Big," she says. "Well, this has been sufficiently awkward." She grabs her purse and gets ready to leave. "I'll see you guys tomorrow."

She leaves the store, and Blaze comments, "Oh man, that is bleak." She turns to me and asks, "So when are you gonna see Rouge again?"

Right! I forgot about Rouge! I remember the reason I came here in the first place. "I can't spy on her anymore," I say to Blaze. "It's weird!"

"Come on, she's never gonna find out," Blaze pressures me. "It'll be, like, our little secret."

Great...

Later, back at home...

I'm in my lounge pajamas, finishing up my homework. I hate that I still have to hang out with Rouge! She's cruel, and Blaze doesn't listen! I put my homework assignment in my binder, and just as I'm about to put it in my backpack, the house phone rings.

I hurry to the hallway to grab the phone and answer it. "Hello?"

"I know your secret." It's Rouge!

Oh God, busted! Just start crying and apologizing. No, play it cool.

"Secret?" I hesitate. "W-what secret?"

"Elise told me you like Sonic Mc'Newman," Rouge says. Damn it, Elise! You said you wouldn't tell her!

"I mean, I don't care," she continues. "do whatever you want. But let me just tell you something about Sonic. All he cares about are school, and his mom, and his friends."

"Is that bad?" I ask. I don't know how that's a problem. Those things seem normal to care about to me.

"But if you like him..." Rouge goes on even more. "Whatever- I mean, I could talk to him for you if you want."

"Really?" I smile. "You would do that? I mean, nothing embarrassing though, right?"

I'm surprised Rouge is okay with me liking Sonic. I might actually have a chance!

"Oh no, trust me," she explains. "I know exactly how to play it. But wait... Aren't you so mad at Elise for telling me?"

Not really. I'm annoyed that she can't keep a secret, but I'm not angry about it.

"No," I answer her.

"Because if you are, you can tell me," Rouge responds. "It was a really bitchy thing for her to do."

I swear I'm not! Rouge, I hate to say this, but you talk too much.

"Yeah, it was pretty bitchy," I comment. "but I'm not mad. I mean, I guess she just likes the attention."

Then Rouge says this: "See El? I told you she's not mad at you!"

Turns out Elise was listening to our conversation from another end of the phone line.

"I can't believe you think I like attention!" she cries, upset about my comment.

"Okay, love you," Rouge says. "See you tomorrow."

We all hang up, and I go back to putting my binder in my backpack. After that, I lay on top of my bed, thinking about what Rouge said. She really doesn't care if I like Sonic? We might actually have a chance! But how do I get his attention? More importantly, how do I get him to like me?

A few weeks go by, and with Rouge's blessing, I started talking to Sonic more and more. It wasn't much, but it's at least a start.

One day, he asked me what day it was. I told him with a smile, "It's October 3rd."

Two weeks later, we spoke again.

"It's raining," Sonic said, pointing to the window, where it appeared to be raining outside.

"Yeah," I nodded in response.

But I wanted things to move faster! So I decided to follow my instincts.

During Calculus, while Ms. Parker teaches us a lesson on the projector, I tap Sonic's shoulder.

"Hey, I'm totally lost," I whisper to him. "Can you help me?"

Yep. I'm playing dumb. I'm not lost at all. I know exactly what Ms. Parker is talking about.

"Yeah," Sonic responds, also in a whisper. He drags his finger along my page to guide me. "It's a factorial, so you multiply each one by N."

Wrong. I still play along, asking him, "Is that a summation?"

"Yeah," he nods. "they're the same thing."

Wrong. He is so wrong.

"Thanks," I say, with a smile that's slowly fading. I still like him, but he's so bad at calculus. "I...I get it now."

The lights turn back on, and Ms. Parker says goodbye as everyone leaves the classroom. Well, everyone except me and Sonic. Speaking of which, he hands me an invitation. He says to me, "We're having a Halloween party at my friend Mighty's tonight. You wanna come?"

I smile. I've never celebrated Halloween, so this is gonna be fun. "Yeah, sure," I answer.

"Great," Sonic smiles and then reminds me, "It's a costume party. People get pretty into it."

"Okay," I reply. I have a costume in mind; I just need to finish it. Hopefully, everyone will love it!

Sonic also points out, "That flyer admits one person only, so don't bring some other guy with you."

"C-c-grool..." I respond hesitantly. Crap; what did I just say?! "I meant to say 'cool', and then I started to say 'great'," I tell him, trying to justify myself.

He chuckles, "Right, well...grool. See you tonight." He waves goodbye and walks out the door.

Just as I gather my belongings, another male voice calls out to me, "Hey Africa; you staying for the Mathletes meeting?"

I turn to the other side of the room, and it turns out that voice belongs to Silver. He sitting in one of the desks, surrounded by three other guys. Yes, I'm in the Mathletes. I don't care what Rouge and Big said about it - I love math. It's not social suicide!

"Yeah," I answer him. "I'll be right back."

I hurry out of the room, eager to go home. Okay, I lied. But I need to work on my costume! In the regular world, Halloween is when children dress up in costumes and beg for candy. In Girl World, Halloween is the one night a year when a girl can dress like a total slut, and no other girls can say anything about it. From what I've heard, the hard-core girls just wear lingerie and some form of animal ears.

3rd person perspective

It's now evening, just about time for the Halloween party. Rouge poses between her bedroom doorway wearing a Playboy-style bunny costume: a sparkly strapless white top with white faux fur trimmed across the chest, black pantyhose with black panties over them, a bunny tail covering her bat tail, a pair of sparkly white knee-high boots with white faux fur, white faux fur cuffs on each wrist, and a pair of white bunny ears attempting and failing to cover her large bat ears.

Her parents are checking her out, with completely different reactions. Mrs. Bayle excitedly takes pictures with her camera and asks her husband, "Doesn't she look great, honey?"

Mr. Bayle, also a white bat, frowns at Rouge, almost as if he's about to cry.

Elise, wearing leopard ears, a black tight leather jumpsuit that exposes her chest, and black heels, arrives at Mighty's house. She rings the doorbell and Cassie opens the door from the inside. She's wearing a small black nightgown with a gray bow loosely tied at the front, sparkly gray knee-high boots, and gray mouse ears.

Elise, however, doesn't catch the mouse ears, and she asks her friend, "What are you?"

Cassie sighs and rolls her eyes. "I'm a mouse!" she answers and points to her ears. "Duh!"

A few minutes later...

Amy's perspective

I make my way to the party, and Mighty's house is already crowded with people. Oh God, I'm hope I'm not late! My costume consists of a messy black wig, a white veil, a pair of gross fake teeth, black eyeshadow, and a white sparkly wedding gown covered in fake blood. Yeah...no one told me about the slut rule.

I go inside, and the living room and stairway are even more crowded than it is outside. I walk around the house through the crowds of people chatting and/or drinking what I hope is fruit punch from red plastic cups, and couples making out. Thankfully, I see Elise and Cassie talking to each other by the fireplace. I walk over to them and say hello, but I end up scaring them, as they yelp in fear.

Cassie asks me, "Why are you dressed so scary?"

"It's Halloween," I say through my fake teeth.

Elise turns to me and asks, "Have you seen Shadow?"

I shake my head no, as Cassie asks staring ahead, "You know who's looking fine tonight? Grayson Barnes."

Elise and I look ahead, and we see a male yellow duck dressed as a pirate, dancing to the music playing in the background. Elise turns to Cassie and comments, "Okay, you did not just say that!"

"What?" Cassie responds. "He's a good kisser."

"He's your cousin," Elise says, scrunching her face in disgust.

Cassie nods. "Yeah, but he's my first cousin."

"Right..." Elise responds awkwardly.

Cassie continues, "So you have your cousins, and then you have your first cousins, and then you have your second cousins-"

"No, honey," Elise cuts her off, shaking her head. "Mm-mm."

"That's not right, is it?" Cassie wonders.

"That is so not right," Elise responds.

Not wanting to listen to the idea of cousins kissing, I turn around, and Sonic, who's dressed as a football player, walks over to us.

"Hey!" I greet him excitedly.

"Hey," Sonic greets back and examines my costume. "And you are...a zombie bride."

"An 'ex-wife'," I correct him. What? I wanted to be something creative!

"Love it," he compliments me. "Can I get you something to drink?"

"Yeah," I answer.

Sonic says, "Be right back." and he walks off.

Cassie continues to look ahead, and Elise is concerned for her.

"Cassie, stop it," she tells the mouse-dressed duck, who clearly isn't listening. "Please don't..."

Finally, Cassie runs off shouting, "Hey, Grayson!" and Elise follows to stop her.

3rd person perspective

Rouge walks out of the kitchen, looking around. She sees Sonic walking towards the kitchen, and she flies over to him to get his attention.

"Hey," she smiles seductively at the blue hedgehog.

Sonic takes a long look at Rouge's bunny costume. Why do so many beautiful girls wear skimpy animal costumes on Halloween? Amy's wearing a zombie ex-wife costume, and she looks fine!

"Oh no," he chuckles. "Didn't anybody tell you? You were supposed to wear a costume."

"Shut up," Rouge says, brushing off his sarcastic comment. "I need to talk to you." She looks over Sonic's shoulder and sees Amy wearing some hideous zombie costume, dancing to the music with Elise and Cassie. Rouge guesses she forgot to tell the pink hedgehog about the slut rule. "You know that girl Amy?"

Sonic turns around, spotting Amy. Even in her zombie costume, she's really cute when she's dancing. He turns back to Rouge and answers, "Yeah, she's cool. I invited her tonight."

Cool? Yeah, right. "Well, be careful," Rouge immediately warns him. "because she has a huge crush on you."

Sonic smiles at this news. "Really?" he asks. "How do you know?"

"Because she told me," Rouge explains nonchalantly. She then smirks devilishly. Amy's a naive little girl from a different continent, while Sonic's one of the most popular guys in Emerald High. There's no way those two will be compatible. She decides to make up a bunch of lies. "She tells everybody. It's kind of cute, actually. She's like a little girl. She like, writes all over her notebook, 'Mrs. Sonic Mc'Newman'. And she made this t-shirt that says 'I heart Sonic', and she wears it under all her clothes."

Sonic rolls his eyes in disbelief. "Oh, come on," he says. Sure, Amy's not the best with social skills, but she's not crazy.

"Well, who can blame her?" Rouge continues. "I mean, you're gorgeous." She then leans her voice to a slight whisper. "And okay, I'm not saying she's a stalker, but she saved this Kleenex you used, and she said she's gonna do some kind of African voodoo with it to make you like her."

Sonic shakes his head. Rouge is delusional as hell! Amy's not some kooky witch doctor; she's an ordinary girl just like the others!

Amy's perspective

I stop dancing to look around for Sonic. He should be back with the drinks by now! What's taking him so long? I walk near the kitchen, only to see him and Rouge talking to each other. Could this be...? Rouge said she would talk to Sonic for me (I don't know why it took her a whole month), and now she is!

3rd person perspective

Rouge continues giving Sonic false information about her supposed friend. "I know she's kind of weird and delusional, but she's my friend," she says. "Can you promise me you won't make fun of her?"

"Of course I'm not gonna make fun of her," Sonic responds, letting out a sigh afterwards. He thinks Rouge did enough of that already.

Amy's perspective

I can barely hear them, but the conversation seemed to go pretty well. How can Blaze hate Rouge? She's such a good...(gasp!) SLUT! I see Rouge locking lips with Sonic, the guy I'm in love with. She said she didn't care! Why would she do this to me!? I run out of the house, trying desperately to hold back my tears.

3rd person perspective

After Rouge finishes kissing Sonic, the ladder becomes angry. "What are you doing?" he asks her. "You broke up with me!"

"That's crazy," Rouge states, brushing off Sonic's comment. She slowly puts her hand on his left cheek. "Why would I break up with you? You're so hot."

Amy's perspective

I open the front door, as I end up scaring two guys with my costume, with one of them falling off the porch. The other guy comments to me, "That's a scary mask, bro."

I run away from the party as fast as I possibly can. I take out my fake teeth and start crying uncontrollably. I have never felt this feeling before. My heartbeat rings in my ears, and my stomach feels uneasy, like it's gonna fall out of my butt. I have this lump in my throat like after you dry-swallow a big pill. I hate Rouge! I HATE HER!

I make my way to a different part of the neighborhood. I take deep breaths to calm myself down and look around. It may be dark out here, but I know this street. This is Blaze's neighborhood. Sometimes after school or on weekends, we hang out at her house, and we either play games, watch movies, or make fun of The Plastics.

I walk left and eventually see Blaze's house: dark brown, single-story, and decorated with dimmed Halloween lights. I see the side door is slightly open, and so I enter through there. I turn to the door on the right, which leads to the garage. And just as I open that door, I see Blaze and Big, huddled together on the couch, screaming in fear, making their bowl of popcorn fling out everywhere. Is it just me, or were they watching a scary movie?

They turn to me, eyes grow with worry and concern. I tell them, "She took him back." My voice begins to choke up, and my tears slowly come back. "Rouge took Sonic back."

Big turns off the TV, while Blaze walks over to comfort me. "Oh no, Amy," she says, giving me a brief hug.

"Why would she do that?" I wonder, sniffing into Blaze's shoulder.

"Because she's a life-ruiner," she answers as she slowly pulls away from me. "She ruins people's lives."

Big nods in agreement and begins to explain, "When we were 13, she made people sign this petition saying that Blaze was-"

"Big," Blaze interrupts our large friend in fear. "PLEASE!" She puts her hand on my shoulder and reassures me, "Look, she's not gonna get away with this again, okay? We're gonna do something."

I wipe my tear away with my thumb. "We are?"

A few minutes later...

After I wash my ruined makeup off my face and take off my wig, Blaze pulls up a small chalkboard that reads, 'Sonic Mc'Newman, "Hot Body", and Army of Skanks', all with little dashes next to them. Big and I sit on the couch, and Blaze starts lecturing me.

"Rouge Bayle is an evil dictator," she explains while holding a pointer stick. "Now, how do you overthrow a dictator? You cut off her resources."

She shows us the chalkboard, letting us read the words silently. Blaze continues her lecture, "Rouge would be nothing without her high-status man candy," she points to 'Sonic Mc'Newman', "technically good physique," then to '"Hot Body"', "and ignorant band of loyal followers." She points to 'Army of Skanks', dragging the pointer across the board.

"Now Amy," she finishes off. "if we want this to work, you're gonna have to keep hanging out with them like nothing's wrong. Can you do it?"

I don't know. Seeing Rouge kiss the very guy I have a crush on really hurt me. I feel vulnerable, but at the same time, I want revenge on that bat! She's got to get her comeuppance one way or another. I look up to Blaze determinedly and respond, "I can do it."

Blaze smiles and nods her head. "Okay," she replies. "Let's rock this bitch!"

And Chapter 5 is finally finished! Over 3,500 words, probably the most in ANY of my stories. Prepare for some revenge bits in the next chapter, along with some breaks within each chapter release. I have work and other interests going on, and I have another fanfic idea in the works (here's a hint: it's NOT Sonic-related). I hope you have a great Halloween, and if you want to stay updated on this story, please review, like, and follow, and I'll see you in Chapter 6!
