Summary: The Lotus Ninjas are stuck in a fiendish battle facing the leader of the Onis. They seem to be helpless, all except Lee, who is busy…having dessert?
In an unknown warehouse, a feminine oni creature crossed her arms over her chest towards Rosa, Chiffon, Jade, Aqua, Azura. Her body grew into the height of a young adult. She has vibrant red skin, shoulder-length cyan hair tied off into two loose ponytails, and purple eyes. She wore a sleeveless black jumpsuit that covers her neck, torso, and halfway down above her ankle with a bright scarlet outline around her V-necked collar, armholes, and lower legs, and a pair of black dress shoes with a bright scarlet outline around the top and bright scarlet soles on her feet. She also has a pair of black curved horns on top of her head and a long serpentine tail.
"You incompetent fools!" The oni leader roared angrily. "How can you let these humans defeat you that easily?!"
"But, Scarlet, those girls are no ordinary humans." Chiffon argued.
"Yeah." Jade and Azura agreed with quick nods.
"Those girls are quite powerful, Scarlet." Aqua said calmly. "They appear to possess incredible powers that this planet called magic."
"Let me take them on again!" Rosa said as she walked up to Scarlet.
"No, I'll take them on!" Jade snapped.
"No, I will!" Azura retorted.
"No, I'll do it!" Chiffon countered.
"Oh, geez." Aqua sighed.
"Cut it out. All of you." Scarlet said firmly. "I'm challenging those magic humans myself." She turned around and looked at the city through the window. "Whether I win or lose, we'll learn something about these magic humans."
In the Crete Fortress, Ella and Donna glared at each other.
"You aren't ready for this kind of pain, Donna!" Ella smirked.
"Bring it on!" Donna smirked back.
Ella and Donna sat on the ends of the couch as they were currently playing a fighting video game. Ellie sat in the middle while observing the fighting match with her can of soda in her hand.
"You're not gonna beat me! I'm the master of this game." Ella grinned.
"Oh please. Well, I'm gonna take you down!" Donna smiled.
In a matter of seconds, Ella handily defeated Donna.
"Ha! In your face!" Ella cheered.
"So close that time." Ellie said, patting Donna on the back.
Donna grumbled as she crossed her arms over her chest.
"Oh yeah! I told you I am the master of this game, Donna!" Ella grinned victoriously. "I win, brainiac!"
"Okay, okay, Ella. I get it." Donna said, rolling her eyes in annoyance.
Quietly, Lee tiptoed through the living room. She tried to avoid being spotted by her younger sisters.
"What about you, Ellie? Can you handle the champ?" Ella challenged.
Before Ellie could respond, Ella turned around and spotted Lee.
"What about it, Lee? Up for a little friendly competition?" Ella called out.
"Yeah, real friendly." Donna muttered sarcastically.
Lee cringed for being spotted, but she quickly composed herself.
"Oh…uh…not this time." Lee declined. "I gotta…go out for some city stealth training."
"I'll give you a little competition, D." Ellie said, snatching the game controller out of Ella's hand.
"Oh, you're on." Donna smirked.
"Oh, come on. Another late-night ninja retreat?" Ella said, placing her hands on her hips. "We already fought Lady Shade, her Shadow Clan, her mystic goons, and that dream freak Baku. You really need to learn to cut loose sometimes, sis. Take a night off for once."
"That's what I'm doing." Lee said.
"By training?" Ella asked with a suspicious face.
"Yeah." Lee replied. "It's how I cut loose every hour of the night. I'll be back soon."
With that, Lee causally exited the living room.
Ella looked back to Donna and Ellie.
"Honestly, I don't even know why I've even tried." Ella said as she sat back on the cushion. "If she thinks training is her way of cutting loose, then she's crazy."
"Come on, Ella. You know Lee. She always pushed herself to train harder than any of us." Donna said.
"Yeah, we all have our own ways of cutting loose." Ellie agreed. "Knowing Lee, she's probably either mediating or practicing her water magic on the roof by now."
Elsewhere, Lee was sitting on a chair with a happy smile. She was supposed to do her late-night training, but instead she decided to head over to visit her favorite dessert shop. She smiled as she stared at a large plate of fresh, gourmet desserts on the table in front of her.
"It's not every day you can enjoy a little me time." Lee commented to herself.
Lee then took a chocolate cookie topped with smooth chocolate fudge frosting and took a bite of it.
Back in the Crete Fortress, Ella successfully conquered Ellie in a fighting game. Earlier, Ellie have beaten Donna and decided to challenge Ella next.
"Yep, still reigning champion." Ella smiled victoriously. "You need more practice, Ellie. Face it. You're worse than Donna. You're possibly worse than Ekron. He could mop the floor with you."
"Oh yeah? Mop the floor with this!" Ellie grinned mischievously.
Ellie inhaled deeply and blew out a strong blast of air from her mouth, blowing Ella away straight to the wall.
"Oh, you're asking for it!" Ella shouted with an enraged face.
Elie jumped off over the couch and started running from Ella, who started chasing her youngest sisters around the living room.
The sound of Ellie screaming and running for her life caught Donna's attention. Donna came out of the kitchen while drinking her can of soda in her hand.
"Aww. What's the matter, Ella? Can't handle a little friendly competition?" Donna smirked.
Ella recklessly tackled Ellie as they started rolling all over the floor. They then rolled into Donna as a wrecking ball, making them to roll wildly around the room.
Then, Phantom walked into the living room and instantly reached her left hand, pulling Donna from the sisterly rowdiness and placing her on the floor.
"Thanks, Phantom." Donna said. "What's going on?"
Phantom's eyes projected a holographic image of the high school.
"I'm detecting an oni sighting located at Eastman High." Phantom announced in alarm. "Details unknown."
"Thanks for the heads up, Phantom." Donna said. She turned to Ella and Ellie. "Girls! We gotta go! Phantom says an oni is causing trouble at the school."
Ella and Ellie halted in midair.
"Oh, yes!" Ellie said ecstatically.
"I'm down. Let's take care of the freak." Ella said with a grin.
"Hold on. How about we clean up before we go?" Donna suggested, pointing her thumb at the mess that Ella and Ellie's rowdiness had caused. "Mom will freak if she sees this."
"Good call." Ellie and Ella agreed quickly.
Meanwhile, Lee just finished a red velvet cheesecake. She wiped her mouth with a napkin until her eyes caught the sight of her phone buzzing on the table.
"Oh, boy. I've bet this call could be important." Lee said with a sigh as she picked up her phone. "I bet it's Ella bragging about that video game..."
A male waiter placed a plate of chocolate mousse, tiramisu, white chocolate raspberry cupcake, and strawberry cheesecake cookie in front of Lee. Her eyes quickly moved away from the buzzing phone, making her drop her phone back onto the table.
"I'll check it later." Lee said distractedly.
Outside, Ella, Ellie, and Donna sprinted and sprang across building rooftops in a series of flexible flips and cartwheels. Along the way, Donna held her flip phone to her right ear, trying to contact Lee. But Lee hadn't picked up her phone.
"That's weird." Donna said as she ended the call. "Lee's not answering my calls."
"Oh, well. It's her loss." Ella said. "We can handle this mission without her."
"Why do I get the feeling that something bad's gonna happen when she says that?" Ellie asked Donna.
"You and me both." Donna said.
"I heard that!" Ella shouted.
Ella, Ellie, and Donna landed behind Eastman High without being spotted. Ella pushed the doors wide open and walked inside with her sisters following behind her. They quietly entered through the plain hallways and stealthily scouted the classrooms around every corner.
"Man, we've searched everywhere and we got no onis." Ellie said.
"Anything, D?" Ella asked Donna.
Donna stomped her right boot on the ground and picked up vibration activities through the area only to detect an unfamiliar figure within the halls.
"That's weird." Donna said. "I thought there was going to be five onis from before, but I'm only detecting one."
"And that would be me!"
Ellie, Donna, and Ella spun around as they spotted Scarlet's human form standing towards them in the hallway. Her human form gave her pale skin and dark red hair. She was wearing a black denim vest over a light-red crop top, red leather pants, and darker red boots.
"So, you must be the ones who attacked my comrades." Scarlet said. "Now, you're looking at the leader of Witches Six. But allow me to make myself comfortable."
Bright reddish-white ring of energy extended underneath her shoes and swept itself upwards, transforming Scarlet into her true form.
"Oh, snap!" Ellie exclaimed.
Ellie, Donna, and Ella quickly summoned their elemental magic from her fists.
"Let's dance, ladies!" Scarlet smiled evilly.
Scarlet leapt high into the air and fired a sphere of red energy crashing into the Lotus Ninjas, who swiftly evaded the attack from different directions. Ella growled as she charged forward towards Scarlet to deliver a fiery fist at her, but Scarlet caught Ella's arm easily with just one hand and smashed her to the ground mercilessly before tossing the red mystic kunoichi away. Ellie jumped up high in the air and dove down to swing a strong air energized kick at the red oni. Scarlet smirked as she instantly grabbed Ellie's leg and slammed her hard to the lockers multiple times, knocking the orange mystic kunoichi away towards Ella. Scarlet spun around and fired off several red energy balls at Donna, who was avoiding them with quick speed. Donna tried to use her earth magic as her advantage, but Scarlet began to glow with red energy and released it onto Donna that sent her crashing hard to the ground between Ella and Ellie.
Ella, Ellie, and Donna immediately got back up.
"Donna, call Lee again now!" Ella shouted at Donna.
Ella charged forward as Ellie followed after her.
While Ella and Ellie fired their magic against Scarlet, Donna took out her phone and began calling Lee once again.
Back at the dessert shop, Lee finished the last bite of her chocolate mousse with a happy smile. Her unanswered cell phone continued buzzing on the table.
Donna, Ella, and Ellie kept unleashing their elemental magic at Scarlet, who blocked with a strong defensive energy barrier. Scarlet then dropped her energy barrier and began rushing at the three mystic kunoichis. Ella, Donna, and Ellie turned around to dash towards the double doors behind the school building. They bursted out through and slammed the doors shut, leaning against them with all their weight. Scarlet growled as she started pounding her fists through the metal double doors.
"Anything from Lee yet?" Ellie asked Donna with a frantic look on her face.
"Nothing! She's not picking up!" Donna replied. "I don't even know what to do at this point!"
"I can't believe I'm saying this." Ella said with a stubborn groan. "But...retreat!"
Ella, Donna, and Ellie moved away from the double doors as they sprang high in the air and across the building rooftops.
Then, Scarlet finally smashed the double doors open. Her eyes caught the sight of the three mystic kunoichis. With a wicked smile, Scarlet chased after them.
Donna, Ella, and Ellie continued running and jumping on each building rooftop. They then screamed with a startle when a flurry of red energy blasts came out of nowhere. They looked over their shoulders to see Scarlet was the one firing her energy blasts from behind. Donna, Ella, and Ellie swiftly evaded the energy blasts with flips and cartwheels. But Scarlet suddenly appeared in front of the mystic kunoichis, causing them to halt in midair. Ella launched a flaming punch and Donna swung a vine-wrapped kick, which Selene swiftly dodged them. Scarlet then punched Donna and Ella repeatedly in the stomach before hitting them in the face and swatting her tail, sending Donna and Ella to roll on the ledge.
"Game over, girls!" Selena said as she loomed over Ella and Donna.
"Not by a long shot!"
Ellie launched a long whip composed of solid air and wrapped around Scarlet. She then tried to restrict the oni's movements with all her strength.
"Donna, I don't care how many times you tried. Call Lee and tell her to get over here now!" Ella shouted as she and Donna helped each other on their feet.
"You don't think I've tried?" Donna shouted back as she began dialing Lee on her phone again. "It's not like her to refuse an emergency call. What if she's in worse trouble than we are?"
Meanwhile, Lee happily finished her slices of chocolate cake and strawberry cheesecake. Her cell phone began buzzing once again. This time, Lee looked down at the caller ID.
"Alright, time to get serious. The girls wouldn't keep calling me if it wasn't an emergency." Lee said. She picked up her phone and answered the call. "Hey, Donna. What's going on?"
"Lee, thank goodness! Remember the onis we've faced before? Their leader Selena is chasing us right now!" Donna informed frantically. She clutched one arm around Ellie's leg as Ellie controlled her cloud and tried dodging Selena's energy blasts while Ella released blasts of fire from her hand. "I'm pinging you our location right now and hurry! She's a very feisty oni compared to the others we've fought!"
"Hang on, D. I'll be right there." Lee promised.
With that, Lee hung up. She left a money tip on the table and dashed out of the dessert shop.
Moments later, Lee dashed across the building rooftops as fast as she could. She closed her eyes and began concentrating on her sisters' aura throughout the city.
In quick seconds, Lee finally detected her sisters when she opened her eyes.
"Don't worry. girls. I'm on my way." Lee said.
Lee swiftly took a shortcut and kept sprinting forward at great speed. Once she finally reached the alleyway, she looked down just in time to see Ellie, Ella, and Donna cornering to a dead end as Scarlet was closing in for a strike.
"Give up, girls." Scarlet said with a deadly smile. She enveloped her fists radiantly in red energy. "You can't run forever. I have you in my sights."
Before Scarlet could strike her targets, Lee quietly landed behind her. She aimed her hands forward and launched a massive stream of water at Scarlet , sending the wide-eyed oni straight to the wall just as Ellie, Ella, and Donna moved out of the way.
"You know, you should really pay attention to your surroundings." Lee remarked with a smirk.
Ellie, Ella, and Donna ran up to Lee.
"Lee!" Ellie smiled as she hugged her oldest sister. "Thank goodness!"
"You made it!" Donna said.
"What took you so long?!" Ella demanded.
"I'll tell you later." Lee replied coolly. "But, right now, we need a group attack on this oni."
Ella, Donna, Lee, and Ellie conjured their elemental magic. They charged forward and jumped in the air over Scarlet. But Scarlet abruptly recovered and spun around as she shot out a rapid succession of red energy balls from her hands, forcing the Lotus Ninjas to back away on the ground.
"I grew tired of this." Scarlet said.
Scarlet unleashed more rapid red energy balls at the Lotus Ninjas from her hands. The Lotus Ninjas swiftly dodged the energy balls one by one before they jumped away and landed on a building rooftop. Then, they immediately took off.
"You weren't kidding when you said this oni is tougher than the other five." Lee said to Donna.
"I can't believe you haven't picked our calls earlier!" Ella shouted with dismay. "We could've taken down this oni freak by now!"
"Hey, you can't blame me for having some alone time for once!" Lee retorted. "It's fair for you three to have your 'me time', but I can't? After all that training I've been enduring for the past fifteen years?"
"She's gotta have a point." Ellie admitted.
The Lotus Ninjas continued running across the building rooftops. They immediately stopped on the highest rooftop when they caught the sight of a park with a fountain. They collectively jumped down and landed on the grass before quickly hiding behind a park bench.
Scarlet landed on the grass and began searching around, unaware that Ella and Ellie are peeking behind the bench.
"Come out, you cowards!" Scarlet shouted.
Ella and Elle retreated behind the bench.
"Lee, I know this isn't a good time to ask, but where exactly did you go before you got here?" Donna asked. "As dedicated as you are, something tells me that your late night training was just a cover up."
"Okay, it's true. I actually went to my favorite dessert shop." Lee answered. "I've earned a free dessert of any choice coupon two days ago and I couldn't resist."
"If you hadn't gone out for cakes, we wouldn't be in this mess." Ella chided.
"Excuse me? You're seriously putting the blame on Lee right now? Because if I recall correctly, you were the one who kept bragging about being a video game champ." Donna criticized.
"I can't believe I'm saying this, but you two need to cool off! We've got bigger problems right now!" Ellie scolded, pointing her finger to Ella and Donna. She then glimpsed back and saw the park fountain, which immediately gave her an idea. "I say we should lead the oni swimming in the fountain."
"Uh, Ellie. We can't go swimming right now. We're trying to hide from that oni, remember?" Donna reminded.
"I know that." Ellie said. "But remember Lee and I combined our magic to create a mist around Rosa? We can do it again. This time, our magic can combine together into ice, so we can freeze her at the fountain."
Lee, Donna, and Ella stared at Ellie with surprised faces.
"Wow." Ella said slowly.
"You said it." Donna agreed.
"Ellie, you're a genius!" Lee said. "I know just how to make it work."
Scarlet kept looking around with narrow eyes. She leaped up in the air and landed on top of the tree, seeking around for her targets.
Then suddenly, the Lotus Ninjas came out of nowhere in separate directions, startling Scarlet at the same time.
Donna aimed her left hand and fired a barrage of explosive seeds at Scarlet, stumbling on the top of the tree. Lee created a glowing blue ball of water between her hands and fired it at Scarlet that knocked him off the tree. As Scarlet fell, Ella and Ellie moved on opposite sides of the oni. Ella enveloped her fists in blazing fire and delivered rapid punches at Scarlet's stomach repeatedly, leaving Ellie to send out blades of air that attacked the oni to the ground.
"You are mine!" Scarlet said as she slowly stood back up.
Ellie suddenly stood in front of Scarlet, who startled in surprise. She poked the oni's nose with her finger.
"Tag! You're it!" Ellie said with a childlike smile.
Then, Ellie sped off.
"Wrong move, girlie!" Scarlet hissed.
Scarlet charged after Ellie and started firing multiple red energy beams, but Ellie swiftly dodged with nimble flips and cartwheels. Ellie then flipped into the fountain and landed on the top.
"You're foolish to face me alone, child." Scarlet said.
Scarlet jumped into the water and glared up at Ellie.
Then suddenly, Ella and Donna pounced down over Scarlet. Ella formed a fireball from her right hand and launched it at Scarlet that burned her upon contact. Donna then sprouted long plant vines and ensnared the oni all around.
"What?!" Scarlet exclaimed in shock.
Lee sat on the bench and manipulated the fountain water, drenching and trapping Scarlet inside a large sphere of water.
"Ellie, now!" Lee shouted.
Ellie leaped in the air and blew out a powerful gust of air from her mouth. The massive gust of air completely surrounded the water sphere, successfully encasing the screaming Scarlet in a large sphere of ice.
Scarlet's alert eyes looked around in a helpless manner, knowing that she's unable to move. Her eyes moved to the assembled Lotus Ninjas and narrowed angrily at them.
"Hey, look. Scarlet on ice." Ellie laughed.
"Yeah, don't mess with the mystic sisters." Donna smiled, wrapping her arm around Ellie's shoulders.
"You got that right." Ella grinned as she crossed her arms over her chest. She turned to Lee. "Will you do the honors?"
"You don't have to tell me twice." Lee grinned back.
Lee waved her hand back and brought her magic forward, opening up a swirling portal that revealed the ocean water underneath the frozen sphere. Scarlet's eyes widened in shock when the frozen sphere started lowering into the ocean water. She gave one last glare at the Lotus Ninjas before the frozen sphere submerged deeper into the ocean water. With the snap of Lee's fingers, the swirling portal was closed shut.
"Come on, girls. Let's head out." Lee said.
With that, the Lotus Ninjas walked together out of the park.
Back in the Crete Fortress, the Lotus Ninjas walked inside the kitchen. Only Ellie, Donna, and Ella's eyes widened in surprise when they saw four white bakery boxes on the dining table.
"What in the world?" Donna said.
Ella opened one box that revealed a slice of triple chocolate ombre cake.
"Ellie, do you…?" Ella asked Ellie.
"Nuh uh. I didn't order all of this." Ellie answered.
"Actually, I did." Lee corrected.
Ellie, Donna, and Ella looked at Lee with confusion.
"When Donna told me that you girls were in trouble, I used my coupon to get free dessert for all of us to share." Lee explained. "That, and I want to apologize for not coming to your aid sooner when you needed me."
Ellie, Donna, and Ella smiled at their oldest sister as they appreciated her sincere apology.
"And I want to apologize too." Ella said.
Donna and Ellie stared at Ella with shocked faces.
"Did she just…?" Donna asked as she and Elle exchanged sideway glances.
"She did." Ellie responded. "I didn't think it was possible."
"Zip it." Ella hissed.
"I appreciate it, Ella." Lee said. "Now, let's eat our sweets."
The Lotus Ninjas sat together at the dining table, gazing down plates of different cake slices and glasses of milk in front of them. Ella, Donna, and Ellie picked up a piece of cake with their forks. Ella had a triple chocolate ombre cake, Donna had an opera cake, and Ellie had a cookie dough cheesecake. They ate their cake pieces at the same time. Ella, Donna, and Ellie quickly froze at the delicious taste as their eyes widened wide in surprise. They then fell off the chairs.
"Well?" Lee asked with a smirk.
"They're the best!" Ella, Donna, and Ellie cried out.
"I thought so." Lee smiled.
Lee winked at the readers.
Enjoy and review.
