On June 15th, Luke was turning 14 and a half.
"Happy half-birthday, Luke! We're going to IHOP for breakfast!" Luna says. Luke got out of bed and got dressed, saying nothing.
"Okay, what's wrong?" Luna asked.
"Just. Be. Quiet." Luke hissed as he walked out the door.
Luna goes to find Charity.
"He's still feeling the effects of loneliness. He saw the news about Bobby and Lori getting engaged and he blew a fuse." Charity says.
"Of course his problem is love. The one thing only he can do." Luna says.
"What is that supposed to mean?" Charity asked coldly.
"I can't help him and I hate it." Luna says, tearing up, scared of saying the wrong thing.
At IHOP, Luke was silent as balloons and confetti fell around him.
"Surprise!" The other siblings say to him as Lucy sat at a different table, moping. Luke soon joined Lucy.
"What's wrong, Luke?" Leni asked worriedly.
Luke was going to say something, but Lori announced her engagement, ruining the moment. Luke sank under the table, shedding tears.
"No, no, no…no…no…nooooo!" Luke sobbed and began to break down. Lucy was soon forgetting her misery when she saw Luke breaking down in tears.
"Shhh…shhh…" Lucy says, holding Luke. "I'm here. I'm here…"
The siblings watched this scene unfold.
Later, Lucy reads him a poem, attempting to cheer him up, when Ronnie Anne comes in.
"Hey, happy half-birthday, Luke." Ronnie Anne says as Luke froze, blushing and sniffling.
"Come on out…it's okay." Ronnie Anne says, offering her shoulder for Luke to lean on.
Luke comes out, blushing.
"Awww…" Leni says, happy for him.
"There, there…" Ronnie Anne says, holding Luke. After some time, Luke calmed down and Ronnie Anne was feeding him.
Lucy holds Lily. "It looks like we're the only ones who are lonely now." Lucy says and feeds Lily, who just giggled in response.
After that, Ronnie Anne and Luke decided to go to the mall and stuff. Luke told Ronnie Anne about his band and asked if she'd like to meet his bandmates.
She nodded. Luke smiled and walked around with her. This was the happiest he had been since his 8th grade prom and graduation.
After the mall, Luke took her to his band practice. Remy, Stephen, Garrett, and Beau noticed he wasn't alone.
"Hey, Ronnie Anne." Beau says.
"Oh, hey, are you two dating? Neat!" Garrett says.
"Word spread quickly." Stephen says with a smile. Haiku looked up, then returned to her poems.
"Ronnie Anne, this is the Elemental Rebel Revolution." Luke says. "And the guy over there with the dark green glasses is my friend Remy Estevez. He sings amazingly and is good at the guitar, much like me. He's also going to Europe soon."
"Oh, nice." Ronnie Anne says.
"I'm going to Europe for a poem competition." Remy says.
Lucy was setting up Luke's party. For a change, it was at an arcade Luke liked.
"Everyone has love but me." Lucy says.
Lori began to help set up as Lucy was tearing up
"Lucy, listen, I'm sorry." Lori says.
"Why did you do it?!" Lucy sniffed.
"I wanted to set you and Remy up on a date so you wouldn't be lonely. But I didn't hear the part where Remy was with Haiku." Lori says. "I should have listened to that part."
Lucy sighed and sniffed as she continued.
With Luke, he practiced with his band as Ronnie Anne smiled at him. Jason arrived and watched.
After practice, they signed autographs for some time and went to the movies together. All Luke could think about after that was how Lori stole the attention from him at his half-birthday breakfast celebration.
"Guys, this is Luke's day, so you guys can't take his attention, got it?" Lucy says as they shakily nod. " Please….everything needs to be perfect. We can't allow a single mistake or Luke will hate us forever and we'll be sent out of the house."
"Okay, that last part was a lie, right?" Luna asked
"No, Luke and I signed a contract. With the judges, lawyer, and mayor." Lucy says as the siblings' jaws dropped.
"But, mistakes make us human. It's impossible not to make a mistake." Lana says.
"Then think." Lucy says.
Soon, the catering arrived as Savannah brought the food into the arcade.
After the movie, they try to comfort Luke. Luke shakes and feels like Lori's engagement was more important than his day. He wasn't threatening to kill. He was just hurt.
They got Luke some new clothes and shoes from the mall. Luke smiled a little.
They soon head to see cool photos of basketball players and stuff like that.
Meanwhile, Angry Luigi walked to the kitchen but Alem tuber was glaring madly. "You idiot!" He says as he lunged for Angry Luigi, who leaped out of the way and Alem tuber punched a wall. He struggled to get his fist free. He pulled it out and chased his brother around the house and then outside as they rushed around the Greendale bakery. Alem tuber leaped and tried to punch his brother.
Angry Luigi looked at the screen and frowned as he had poor reaction time and his brother punched his face, sending him flying.
"Heh…" Alem tuber says.
Meanwhile, Lucy finished decorating and decided to call the elder counterparts from the elder universe.
She used a portal to bring them in as Edwin blinked.
"Wait, who is that?" Lana asked.
"I guess it's a goth universe where Cuphead went goth!" Lynn says as the elder Luke stepped through.
"You rang?" Elder Luke says as Lucy was stunned.
Meanwhile, Luke was waiting, wanting his party. He hissed and flew off.
He laid on the ground as Lucy found him.
"Luke, I have a surprise for you. Your half-birthday entrance…" Lucy says. Luke just looked away.
She leads him to an arcade car for his entrance as she had to drag him. He said nothing.
"What's wrong?" Lucy asked.
"I know this will be a horrible half-birthday, just like all of my half-birthdays before this!" Luke screamed.
Lucy flinched. "Give me one more chance…please…" She says.
"Fine!" Luke says.
Lucy came on stage. "Ladies and gentlemen, presenting our half-birthday boy, the star of this special day…Luke Huntington!" She says.
Luke came out as everyone cheereded. Luke waved to everyone and smiled a little.
After the entrance, he just looked around.
There were decorations and only a few gifts for him. And he saw guests he had never seen before.
"Who are they?" Luke asked, arms crossed.
"My alternate counterpart and family. Remember? We went to their universe and saw their Fairway. Oh, and your alternate kid." Lucy says.
Well, the minute Luke saw the Chalice-like child, he fainted.
"Maybe bringing our counterparts' kids was a bad idea." Lisa says.
Elder Luke knelt next to Luke and started fanning his face.
Aria feels guilty. She didn't think Luke would faint. But Luna then explained all the stuff that had recently happened in this universe in a way Aria would understand.
"So, what now?" The elder Lana asked as Lana climbed on her back.
"Send the future kids back. They just gave Luke PTSD…bad PTSD…" Lisa says. Elder Luke was holding Luke, who had come to, but was sobbing.
Elder Lisa sent the kids back, just leaving the siblings' elder counterparts, Elder Luke, and herself.
Luan decided to tell jokes to try and cheer Luke up. It did cheer him up a bit as he giggled.
Lori noticed Lucy frowning. Then it hit her. Lucy must have PTSD from seeing a version of her married to a person who used her. Lucy cried as Luke held her.
Lola did a pageant performance to cheer Luke up. Luke smiled at this.
After that, Luke decided to open his presents, starting with Lucy's.
It was an autographed guitar from his favorite guitarist. He smiled at the guitar signed by Laine Hardy himself. He couldn't wait to play it.
Luke then opened the gift from Elder Luke. He gasped when he saw it.
"What is it?" Luna asked. It was what he wanted.
"Eeeee!" Luke squealed with excitement. "It's a portable stage!"
After a few more gifts, Luna performed a song for Luke. He clapped as he loved Luna's music. Luna smiled. After that, Luke went to play some arcade games. That made him happy. Then he came to get some food. He smiled as he ate, then he was writing in his party book.
Lucy got curious about what Luke was working on.
"Hey, little me, what's that?" Elder Luke asked.
"My party book. I'm working on an important party." Luke says, sketching a France flag design on another page.
Everyone was having fun and chatting. Elder Luke was watching Luke work in his book.
Elder Lucy tries to comfort her younger counterpart, who looked away from her.
"You're married to a guy who used me!" Lucy cried.
"He may seem bad, but give him another chance." Elder Lucy says.
"He used me!" Lucy sniffed.
"You won in ANH, wow!" Elder Luna says to her counterpart. Luna smiled.
Remy just sighed and drank some punch. He sat in a corner.
"What's wrong?" Haiku asked.
"You haven't been happy for me since the poetry slam." Remy says as he tears up. "Do you hate me?"
"No, no…" Haiku says "I don't smile all the time. I don't do emotions."
"You hate that I'm good at poetry!" Remy says.
"That's not true." Haiku says.
Meanwhile, Luke was eating cotton candy while the twins were playing around.
"You have to save room for cake, sweetie." Charity says to Luke.
"Fine…" Luke says.
Lincoln had edited a bunch of Luke's best moments into a clip show.
Luke sits and watches. After the clip show, Luke hissed as he broke the piñata and sent candy all over the arcade.
He gets his share and sits in another part of the arcade.
"What's wrong?" Leni asked.
"Luke likes the party…" Luke says.
"That's nice." Leni says.
Later, Lynn smashed watermelons. Luke claps and joins her.
Then the Lukes, siblings, and counterparts tore up the dance floor. Luke soon finished dancing as he sat down on a golden throne. He knew what time it was.
The lights turned off, then turned on as the Elder Luke was bringing out the cake he baked. It was an Arctic blue velvet cake that said "Happy Half Birthday To Our Star, Luke Huntington!" in snow-white icing.
Leni took a picture of it.
"Wow!" Luke says. Brandy leads off the singing as everyone joins in.
Luke was grinning from ear to ear. They soon finish as Luke thinks of a wish. He wished Lucy would find a boyfriend.
He then blew out his 14 and a half candles, smiling at everyone.
Later, Ronnie Anne was feeding Luke and the others were chatting.
"I'm so glad Luke's happy." Savannah says
"Yeah, I didn't think you two would make it." Jason says.
"Luke's my friend…well, I consider it. Not sure what Luke thinks, though." Angry Luigi says as Sal was alone with his cards.
Luke offers Sal some cake. Sal smiled and ate his cake.
"Hey, little me, you're going to be a great poet." Elder Lucy says as Lucy smiles a bit.
"Awww, aren't you a cutie…" Luna says, lifting up Clover.
After a while, Luke had his book, writing in it again.
Lucy was now planning Luke's 15th birthday.
"What are you planning for, anyway?" Lucy asked.
"You can't tell Remy if I tell you." Luke says.
Lucy nods. Luke tells her he's planning a surprise party for Remy to wish him luck in France at the poetry competition.
"Isn't that where Cynthia is at?" Lucy asked.
"Oh, I didn't know she was there." Luke says. "The party will be here, though. Before then."
Later, the siblings were saying goodbye to their counterparts. Luke said goodbye to his counterpart as well, thanking him for coming.
"Good luck." The elder Lori says.
"Thanks." Lori says. The Lynns fist bumped as they walked into a portal.
"My elder counterpart was pregnant. Maybe I'll be its dimensional babysitter." Lisa says.
"Gross…" Lola says, finding that a bit weird.
"Okay, maybe when I'm older." Lisa says. "Anyway, you guys really don't need to make a big deal out of my birthday. Beau and I are going to a science convention that day, anyway."
Lucy walked outside, seeing her siblings and their romance partners. She sighed sadly.
"Someday." Lucy says.
