The revelation had been a surprise. Surprise would be a little short to describe it. He was buffled, astonished, amazed, astounded and perplexed. Well finding yourself in a new world certainly did that.
It was with these revelations that he left the wall and moved towards North. He was confirmed of one thing now. This world was a mediaeval world, full of backward cunts and assholes. It was not hard to predict, the former couldn't exist without the latter. People would be extremely prideful, uncouth, and mannerless in their behaviour sometimes. They would also adore brute strength, more than the gentle wit and cunning of a man.
He was flying above the cold dreary wasteland. This was a new world. A completely unknown place even to him. Being cautious was the only thing he could do at the moment, till he finally reached to his conclusion. He doubted if the people would even welcome his arrival. Magic was rare, true and powerful magicians were rarer.
He was flying towards the settlement, when he spotted a man resting beneath a tree. He was reaching near the end of Gift. No Night's Watch member should be here usually. Not when there weren't even enough of them to man the walls. He slowly moved downwards silently. Pointing his wand midair towards the man, he slowly stupified him.
The man was carrying a sword. He wasn't going to act like a fool and chose to be in close quarters with the man. Not until he was sure, that he wasn't going to be hurt by him. Landing slowly in front of the man. He started his usual drill. The equally exciting and distasteful practise of legilimency. He slowly moved through the memories of the man.
The memories shocked him. He had expected some boring and mundane memories filled with the occasional exciting ones of fights. He wasn't ready for some inferi who rose instantly after death. He watched as this man, whose name was Gareth, slowly moved through the empty camps of wildings. He wasn't alone in his latest adventure. Some lordling named Waymar Royce and another ranger named Will.
They had gone to track some wildings. Suddenly corpses had emerged from the snow and tried to kill them all. None were harmed from the strikes of their swords. The dead corpses killed Waymar Royce and Will. Waymar was also later reanimated into a corpse infront of Gareth's eyes. It wasn't exactly a dead body which killed those two. It was made of ice and had a raspy tone with it.
The experience had been enough to make him flee from the Night's Watch. The man was apparently a deserter from Night's Watch. Well, Severus couldn't fault him. If he had been in his place, he would have done the same. Being a normal man with no magic, and suddenly you have this icy being who was capable of necromancy, standing in front of you and trying to kill you. He would have left the place as soon he could in his feet. Not every battle could be won. He wasn't foolish enough to deny that fact. It was necessary to savour one's life. It was an eventful surprise that he found himself having another chance at life. He doubted if he would have another life after dying again? Perhaps time will tell the answer of his question.
'Ennervate' he thought with a sigh. The man gently awoke. Severus watched from the distance as the man frowned looking around him. He had clearly not expected him. His hands immediately went to his sword. Standing up, grabbing the polmel, he unsheathed it and pointed it towards him.
"Who are you?" The man asked threateningly. His opponent was an easy kill for him. He held no weapon in his hand. If it came to violence, he could kill him instantly.
"Severus Snape. You?" Severus replied with a calm look on his face. The man infront of him was no threat to him. He could kill him with ease if shit hit the roof. There were no doubts in it.
"What do you want?" Gareth asked with a hard look. He knew no man in the Gift with a Valyrian look. This man was clearly a new arrival to the gift.
"You are dead the minute you leave this place. They will catch you and execute you for betraying the Night's Watch. I know what you saw Gareth. I know the truth." Severus replied gently as he looked at the man infront of him. It was time to put the Dumbledore way to the practise. He needed to make the man infront of him vulnerable. He wanted his loyalty at the moment.
"How?" The man asked baffled. The boy knew his name. He knew that he was a deserter. He knew about the Others. He wasn't lying for sure. Those damn eyes were true to his words. There were no lie in those eyes.
"I am no man. I am far beyond a normal man. I am the God's messenger." Severus replied making his voice deeper than ever. For additional effect, he slowly levitated himself in the air infront of him. He watched impassively as the man's old eyes widened in astonishment and amazement. He was afraid and amazed at the same moment. This was a bullshit thing. But he needed to do it. These people weren't modern people. They could be misled easily. By proclaiming himself as the God's messenger, he would be a larger than life figure in the eyes of the people. He could hold a much important part in their lives.
Gareth dropped his sword. He couldn't help but marvel and fear the man infront of him. He was truly a God's messenger. No man could fly in air like him. No man could knew what he saw. He hadn't told about it to anyone. The secret was safe till now in his heart. If the man infront of him knew about it, he was no simple man.
He kneeled down reverently. The Old Gods had sent them a saviour from the icy cold monsters. The Old Gods had heard his prayers and cries. They had answered in the form of a saviour. A saviour who was going to save them all.
Severus looked at the kneeling form of the man. If the Gods had sent him to make some changes in this backwards world. He was going to better do it in his own way. These world was facing a threat against the whole humanity. Perhaps he was sent to deal with it. He didn't know, but it was the only probable and possible option, ringing right in his head. There was a nice and funny way to do it. Something which everyone of his previous world would think funny. But then again, they were all dead, and their opinions hardly counted. He was goint to enjoy some of his kinks then.
"Rise up Gareth, for your prayers had been listened and answered." Severus spoke in the same deep voice. Severus knew deep down then.
This was the start for something exciting in his life.
