Kagome stared into his golden eyes; she never noticed how deep they went. She recalled that time in his father's tomb when he looked down at her, his eyes going from the sword in her hand to her. She recalled how fierce his eyes were. She could almost read them, but right night she couldn't.

The fireworks went off, and both Sango and Miroku kept the guys busy, sensing as women do.

Kagome finally looked up at the sky and away from his blazing gaze.

"I saw our past future," He stated, not taking his eyes off her. He had gone to seek someone and was shown a glimpse of what was or was to be before his son came back.

"How did we-

"It does not matter, Miko,"

In truth, now it didn't. It was much different than what was happening now. Yes, there were pieces missing, but it didn't matter he couldn't recreate them.

He finally looked away. "I saw our sons,"

She looked at him. "Both of them?"

"Hn,"

She smiled,

He looked back down, and then she could read his eyes.

He had seen her with child, and a great need rose in him. Yes, they were half-breeds, but they were his. And while they were not what he expected, he wanted to meet them. The woman he sought asked him if he wanted to see another future, as his bond with her was not set. He didn't; he simply walked away.

The woman smiled as he did.

"I wish I could have seen."

"You will," He told her, and her heart skipped. This meant, that he, that they.

Kagome looked away as the fireworks stopped. People walked away, all around them. Kikyo dragged Inuyasha away. Sango took Miroku away, and soon, it only left Sesshomaru and Kagome alone in the dark field with the stars watching them.

It got quiet and cool.

Sesshomaru gave her a moment to breathe as realization dawned on her. On what was about to happen, if she so wished it. Him and her, her and him?

But it wasn't just about them.

To have him, was to have them. To have her, was to have them.

He was choosing his family, her.

That meant a lot to her. "Are you, sure?" She asked,

He turned, hand in hand, and pulled her.

The village had small huts for anyone seeking shelter for the night. Or something else.

He pulled her in and shut the door.

Candles lit the tiny place. It had one window, which was covered. One bed and one very small table and lots of shelves. There were about six candles lit. It wasn't the most romantic place.

He stood behind her, going slow. This was new to him as well; man as he was, it was new. Bedding a woman had never been an issue, but he wasn't bedding her, and she wasn't just any woman.

Slowly, he reached out and put a hand on her waist, and took a step forward. Kagome's heart began to race, and then a thought dawned on her: "Sesshomaru,"

"Hn,"

"What about what happened,"

"It will still happen; you will still choose to take in the jewel," He knew they would defeat Naraku, but it was not wise to be cocky about it; just because they would did not mean something alternate couldn't happen.

"I will?"

"If you so choose to say with me," She would.

"And what about, you know?"

"What do you refer Miko?" She wondered if he would ever call her by name.

"Mating?" This was the main issue, right,

He leaned in. "That Is what tonight is for,"

Kagome blushed hard; she was glad her back was to him.
