Across the BloomVerse: Bloom Strange
To say that Bloom is bored would be an understatement.
After discovering that not only was she adopted but was actually a fairy, the girl thought she be learning new things that her dad couldn't teach.
Instead. A leprechaun is telling her how to change her hair color. Speaking of the leprechaun.
"Ms. Bloom?" Wizgiz is standing on her desk as he caught the girl not paying attention. "You should really pay attention. This may or may not be on a quiz."
With a sigh, Bloom dismisses the glyphs she was messing with and responds, "Sorry, Prof. Wizgiz. But this is a simple transmogrification spell. I learned this stuff when I was eight."
"Ah, yes. I should've expected that you're ahead given who your father is," the teacher hops back over to his desk to rummage through his drawers. "Let's see here. Aha!" he hops back over with a few pages. "Here! Take this exam. It should tell me exactly how advanced you are. Then, we'll place you in the proper class."
The young Sorceress/Fairy glances at the exam before quickly filling it out. She occasionally pauses to think of the answer.
"Now, now, Bloom. Take your time. These questions are very intri—" he stops as the student raised a hand. "Did you need help with something?"
"Actually," she waves the papers to him. "I'm done!"
The leprechaun's eyes widen as he takes the papers back. "Really?"
From somewhere behind her, the Sorceress/Fairy can hear someone mumbling. "Bloom's such a nerd." Followed by a giggle.
Bloom turns in her seat. "Only my friends can call me Bloom. Otherwise? I'm Strange to you."
"Yeah, That's what we're saying." Several of the girls start laughing with the exception to Bloom's roommates.
The redhead growls as she faces the front of the room. She walked right into that one.
"This is remarkable!" Wizgiz announces. "Several of these we don't even teach first years. We're not allowed to as they're said to be too advanced for fairies your age."
"You forget that I was raised by the Sorcerer Supreme," Bloom couldn't help but boast.
"Indeed," the teacher hands over a slip. "This will excuse you for the rest of the class as there's not much I can teach you for the remainder of the year. I'll have a word with Faragonda about putting you in a class that's more challenging."
"Thank you," she accepts the slip as she gets up, straightens the robes her father gave her, and addresses her friends. "Sorry, girls. See you at lunch."
.oOo.
Bloom walks out of school as Faragonda has agreed to dismiss her for the day as they try to figure out what classes she should take. The girl quickly opens a portal to the streets of Magix.
As she passes an alley, a yellow ogre steps out to walk right behind her. Just as he pulls a fist back, he finds it held in place. Glancing at his arm, he finds that there is a magic tether wrapped around his wrist. The same tether leads to a small portal. Facing the little fairy, he sees that she is holding the other end of the tether leading to another small portal.
"Do you really want to do this a gain, Knut?" Bloom dispels the magic.
As a response, Knut goes to throw another punch. But just as quickly, Bloom turns around and seemingly stops the oncoming attack with a wave of her hand. She then made several more motions with her hands and the ogre soon finds his fists meeting his face.
"Don't worry," the Sorceress/Fairy smirks. "It should wear off in an hour or two. Just be glad I'm not petty like my dad," she turns around. "He would have made it last a week." The girl leaves the ogre as he continuously punches himself.
The Sorceress/Fairy now walks out of a bookstore after making several purchases. She pulls out a compact mirror that shows her reflection for a moment before it shimmers and is met with the face of a distressed Wong.
Bloom beams at the sight of him "Hey, Uncle Wong!"
"Hello, Little One!" he ducks to miss a claw.
Another voice shouts, "Stephen!"
The Sorceress/Fairy stops. "Was that Mom?"
"Well, yes. We kinda missed having you around. Especially Christine," he puts up a barrier and leaves sight of the mirror for a moment before reappearing. "With the extra time we now have, Stephen thought to invite Christine over for dinner."
"You don't think he was going to propose do you?"
"I hope so, I have fifty bucks betting on it!"
Doctor Strange can be heard shouting. "I heard that!" a demon appears right behind Wong only to have a magic tether wrapped around its neck and pulled away.
"Too bad. What I wouldn't give to have her as my actual mother."
"Oh, sweety," Christine's face comes into view. "I would love nothing more than to be your real mom too."
"Wong!" Stephen calls out. "I need some assistance!"
Wong hands over the mirror to Christine. "Here!" and vanishes out of sight.
Bloom tries glancing around to get a better view of what's going on. "So, how did dinner turn into this?"
"Well, somebody misplaced the jar of honey mustard with the Containment of Infernal Souls."
"Poor judgement on my part, I assure you!" Wong shouts.
Christine jumps out of the way from a magic blast. Strange is then heard yelling. "Face the power of the Eye of Agamotto!" the mirror is cast over by a blinding light.
As the light fades, Christine comments, "When did my life become this?"
Bloom giggles. "I believe it was when you let Dad use your address so I can attend normal school."
"Oh, that's right."
"Wong! Start cleaning this up if you will!" that's when Doctor Strange steps into the frame. "Hello, Bloom."
"Hi, Dad!"
"I know that you're in another dimension, but I'm pretty sure you should be in class right now."
The Sorceress/Fairy shrugs. "They let me out early. Turns out I don't fit well in Alfea's normal criteria for first years."
"That's my girl. Gifted in any dimension."
"Dad!" the redhead laughs.
"So, how is fairy school anyway?" Christine starts questioning. "Learn anything? Did you get your wings yet?"
"School's fine. It's just that, with all my teachings from you puts me way ahead of most of my classmates. So, Faragonda is going to have to readjust my lesson's slightly after she figures out what I do know and what I still need to learn. I did make plenty of friends though. Most of whom are surprised that I can keep up with Tecna's technobabble as they call it?"
"Not surprised," Christina gives a knowing smirk. "You did spend a lot of time with that boy."
"Mom, Peter's just a friend."
"Funny how you immediately thought of Parker," Stephen smiles as well. "She could have easily been talking about Harry."
Christine's smile widens as she notices the blush on the teen's face.
"Anyway," Bloom attempts to change the subject. "As for the wings. According to Faragonda, because I've grown accustomed to relying on the Mystic Arts it makes it harder to access my fairy form. At most she can do is guess that I must be a fire fairy."
The Sorcerer Supreme holds his chin in thought. "You always did have an affinity for flame-based spells. And given how Fairy magic seems to differ from sorcery, it makes sense that my teachings may be blocking access to it. This Faragonda is a wise woman. I should like to have tea with her sometime."
Bloom looks down, "Yeah, I guess she wouldn't mind." The silence told everyone that the girl is worried about something.
"Bloom," Christine speaks up. "Is something wrong?"
"I feel that Faragonda is keeping something from me. She is often straight forward with me. But there's certain subjects she ends up dancing around. Like when I brought up a place called Domino."
"Bloom," Stephen catches her attention. "I've met people like Faragonda. She probably is keeping a secret from you specifically. But I doubt it's out of malice. She could very well keeping quiet until she knows for sure. It was the same with me and the Ancient One. You shouldn't mistrust her yet. I'm also not going to tell you to just forget about this. There may be a time for her to tell you the truth. Either on her terms or yours. Just don't try and force it out of her."
With a sigh the Sorceress/Fairy tells him. "Okay, Dad. I'll keep that in mind. I'm at least hopeful that she is considering letting me take some lessons from Cloud Tower."
Christine looks between Bloom and Stephen. "Isn't that the Witch school? I'd be worried about you doing so. And why would you want to go there anyway? They're supposed to be evil."
"Witches aren't inherently evil," the Sorceress/Fairy rolls her eyes. "From what I learned, most of their intention is just to cause a little trouble and don't usually do anything illegal."
"Why would you want to learn that kind of magic?"
The Sorcerer Supreme speaks up. "Because Christine. Magic is knowledge and knowledge needs to be gathered and…" Stephen stops as he acknowledges that his daughter had joined in his explanation.
Bloom smiles at him. "Speaking of knowledge," the girl holds up her shopping bag. "I've found a couple tomes I know you don't have in your collection."
"How would you know? You haven't seen my entire library."
"The only books I haven't read in the Sanctum are in the Forbidden Section," the girl shakes her head. "Which, if any of these were dangerous enough to be put in there, I'd doubt they'd be available in a public store were a teenage girl could easily by them. I'll send these your way after I've read them myself."
"Trying to get a hold of knowledge before I do?" Stephen accuses with a smile. "You're more like me than you think. I couldn't be proud."
"Thanks, Dad." Bloom smiles back. "I should be heading back to school. Stella needs some tutoring and I told her I'd help. I also promised Tecna that I'd help customize her computer. Bye Mom! bye Dad! Bye Uncle Wong!"
"Bye, Bloom!" Stephen says, followed by Christine.
"Call back soon!"
Wong is then heard in the background. "See you soon, Little One! Strange!" he suddenly shouts. "One of them isn't finished."
Both Stephen and Christine turn around and the woman shouts "Is it growing!?" the image on the mirror shimmers and Bloom only sees her own reflection.
Shaking her head, Bloom puts the compact mirror away. "Why does it seem like the good stuff happens when I'm away?" the girl quickly makes a portal straight to her dorm in Alfea.
