The pain, hurts. The portal was unstable. I am... in... Nirn, is it? Yes, I am in Nirn. I feel... free. I doubt they will take kindly to me, since Molag Bal is trying to Planemeld his realm with this realm. I must be careful then, for danger could lurk around any corner. Not much different than Coldharbor in that aspect, but then again, I do not wish to be sent back so soon after arriving here.
Someone is coming! I lurk behind the boulder, and watch who passes.
Someone walking with a horse beside them. A merchant perhaps? Maybe I can learn where exactly I am.
I walk up behind them. "Hello ma'am," she is startled "where am I?"
She turns around, and her face turns pale. She's lost her breath.
"Are you alright?"
"I- I- I thought that - your kind ..."
"... That my kind?"
"That you all worked for Molag Bal. That must not be the case since you did not kill me."
"True: I do not work for him." For now. "Where am I?"
"Oh, right. You are in Kenarthi's Roost."
Ok, that's a start. Was that an island? I believe it was. Hey, I'm not a total idiot! Now to explore this place a bit. "Thank you ma'am."
I wander towards the sun, not knowing if it is rising or setting. Must have been setting because within maybe an hour or two, the sun had set, and night had come. I see lights in the distance, so I must be near some sort of settlement, like a lone house or a town. I cannot tell from here. I pass... a... stable, perhaps? It is completely empty, abandoned. I guess it is not a stable then. It could have been, definitely a similar shape and size.
Ouch! I've been attacked! I turn around to face my opponent. A young Khajiit? I catch his sword. Ouch. He does have some force, for his age.
"Let go of my blade, beast!" He sounds older than he looks.
"Will you quit attacking me?" He stumbles backwards.
"It - it speaks!" He mutters. Was I supposed to hear that or does he talk to himself?
I drop his sword to the ground.
He goes to pick it up, but I put my talons on it.
"Oh come on. That's my sword!" He steps back.
"Maybe you shouldn't attack those bigger than you are."
"Everything will always be bigger than I am. I'm a Dagi-Raht." Well that explains that I suppose.
"Dagi... aren't Dagi good with magic?"
"I'm not."
"Oh. Ok." I let him grab his sword back. "Just don't attack me again."
"Fine." He takes his sword then wanders away cautiously.
I mend my wounds, what wounds he did inflict, and then head towards the lights.
Oh, it's a campfire. Plenty of tents around it. Plenty of Khajiit too. All armed. They don't look like guards, but then what could they be... bandits? Perhaps they are. I approach cautiously. I notice a pillar nearby, and I look at it. Definitely bandits, because there is what appears to be a peasant, a farmer perhaps, tied to the pillar. Poor girl is scared out of her mind. I get closer, and I smell a lot of smells, pheromones. Those bandits reek of it. I get closer and the smells get stronger, but she appears clean. Good, they haven't touched her yet. Oh, but that one might. He's coming her way. I swiftly cut the ropes, grab her, and teleport back to the... stable looking building. Whatever it is. I ask her "Are you alright?"
She is shivering uncontrollably. Is it my scales, or the ordeal she went through, the kidnapping?
Finally she says "Who - who are you?"
"I am Jathrok. Are you hurt?"
"Just... rattled, is all." She looks at me, and then is startled once more. Did - are you the one that saved me?"
"Yes, I am."
She gets up. "Thank you, Jathrok."
"My pleasure." She is a little stunned at that, then turns to head back to town, then looks back at me. "Would you like an escort back to town?" I ask.
"Sh-sure. I'm not sure that's a good idea though, once we get there, but I would feel more comfortable with protection while on the way."
"Let's get you home."
I walk with her on the way to town. I look around, and for a few minutes it's just a peaceful, quiet night. As we get halfway to town, I see the bandits off yonder running towards the abandoned stable. "We need to move." I tell her. Then she notices them to, gets a little frightened, and starts running. I take a look back, and they've noticed. 5 of them, maybe more on the way. I look towards town, find a spot, and then teleport to her, grab her, and teleport to a light pole. I let her go, then teleport on top of a house. She continues running, then shouts to the guards about bandits coming from the west. 3 guards get ready below me, and don't realize I am there.
The bandits charge. The guards are outnumbered, but they still fell the five. Another wave charges. 8 bandits. These guards are promissing, so I let them battle on without my aid again. One guard falls, but they still fell the bandits. The final wave waits back, only 5 of them. A bigger bandit, a Pahmar I suppose, steps forth from behind them. He walks forward, with confidance. Hmm, he might be too much for the guards.
He gets halfway between the final wave and the guards. "I challenge one of you to a duel." That's not good. "Win, and we will leave you alone. Lose, and you must give us Charoline."
The woman from earlier cries "No!"
The guards are unsure.
The bandit continues. "Decline, and we will raid the remains of your town, and burn it to the ground!" The guards look a little scared, and seem to be backing up.
"I'll do it." I say aloud.
"Who said that?" says the bandit.
I teleport halfway between him and the guards. "I did."
There is a period of stunned silence. "Ok, ok. So they summon daedra to fight for them. This will be over quickly."
"I was not summoned. I serve no one."
"A wild daedra? Hmm. Never heard of it. It's lights out for you." He charges.
Just before he hits me, I teleport, and cause him to fall on his face. He gets up, and swings wide. He steps for me and swings high. I catch his blade. Huh, he drew blood. He can't get his sword out of my grasp, so he kicks me. He seems shocked. Did I not react how he thought I would? I kick him back likewise, and he keels backward clutching himself. I suppose it's a common weakpoint for people from Nirn? I watch him. He takes a while to recover. I drop his sword once he gets up. He puches me, then hold his fist and looks like he's in pain. He gets angry and puches again. I chuckle. He gets angrier. "Aren't you gonna fight back?"
"To what point does this duel end?"
"The death, obviously."
"Oh, ok." I teleport behind him, and he bleeds profusely. The final wave flees. He falls, and eventually quits moving. Crickets chirp. I turn around, and the guards are shocked. I teleport, and they lose track of me. I remain atop the house for the night. I see a Khajiiti male exit a window and sneak towards another building. I get curious and teleport behind him. He notices as he reaches the window he was heading for. He startles, and then gets scared.
"Please don't hurt me." He whispers. He looks me over, then stares at me. He calms down after a moment.
"What are you doing out here?"
He has a realization, then looks around, and looks embarrased. I sense his pheromones. I realize he's missing something, then realize why it looked funny: he's not wearing anything. Everyone else I've seen has been wearing something.
"I- I was just - uh - visiting a friend."
"Mhm. Sure." After a moment, during which he looks uncomfortable, he heads back the way he came. Another Khajiit pokes their head out the window he was heading to, says "Whe-" and it startled when she sees me. She ducks back inside swiftly. It's not Charoline. It's someone else, someone much younger. Teenager perhaps.
I return to the rooftops. I still here them freaking out. It persists for a few hours, when they've both finally fallen asleep. In the morning, she heads out casually, then goes behind the houses, then rushes to his window and knocks until he opens it. She gives a large sigh of relief. "It scared you off?" "Yes, it was scarry." "I thought it killed you. I'm glad you're alright." Ok, I wonder what that's about. Nothing like that ever happens in Coldharbor.
