Traveling

"Del, it's been hours!" Kait finally complained. "Tell me we're getting close!"

"Marcus's coordinates put New Hope in...a...valley up ahead," Del said. "So we're close!"

"Del, there are seventy-five-foot cliffs on both sides of us!" Joseph snorted. "How much more of a valley can we possibly find?"

"I'm just telling you what I'm seeing!" Del said then hesitated. "Kait, you haven't said a word in a while. How are you doing?"

"Well, the good news is...I'm starting to get the hang of this thing," Kait said, "which has been a nice distraction! Look, I'll be okay! I just...I was in their Hive Mind! I was controlling Swarm, and I was trying to help! But...that last one...the Warden, they call it..."

"You were inside that thing?" Joseph asked.

"Yes," Kait admitted. "But I couldn't control it. I had to watch as it attacked you and took Uncle's arm."

"It's alright," Joseph said. "Oscar can get a prosthetic arm, and I'm fine, other than my nose being sore."

Kait nodded. "Thanks for asking about how I'm doing, by the way."

"You're welcome!" Del shouted over the wind. "Thanks for driving! Exhausting as it looks?"

"Very much so!" Kait called back. "Speaking of exhausting, I'm glad you finally covered up that yellow armor of yours, Joseph, even if it is just white spray paint."

"Had to make myself camouflage to a winter environment somehow!" Joseph replied.

For a few minutes, there was silence. Then, Del spoke up again.

"Hey...I'm sorry for the way JD treated you back at the village," Del apologized. "He's just-"

"Del, you're the last person who needs to apologize for him," Kait assured him.

Just then, they all slowed to a stop as they reached a fairly new COG wall. Lizzie and Joseph headed around the wall, finding a way around to the ground before calling Jack over the wall to lower the sections of the wall into the ground, opening their way, Jack also finding a map of the area in the computer controlling the wall. Then, they got back onto their Track Mule and they were off again. At the end of the canyon, they found a drop off, and almost as soon as they landed, someone called them.

"Hey, kids, you read?" Marcus asked.

"Marcus!" Del responded. "You back in New Ephyra yet?"

"Just landed," Marcus said. "Are you close to New Hope?"

"Almost," Del confirmed. "Question: How will we know when we're there?"

"Officially, New Hope never existed," Marcus said. "It was disguised as 'Jameson Shipping Depot.' So look for tracks and follow 'em."

"Tracks, got it," Kait confirmed.

They kept moving, but after a few minutes, on the northeast shore of the frozen lake they were crossing, they all slowed to a stop as they found a derailed train and an ancient train tunnel.

"Marcus said to look for tracks, right?" Kait asked. "Well, that's a train tunnel."

"Yeah, but..." Del frowned. "These aren't the coordinates he sent us."

"We could still check it out," Joseph suggested.

"Carefully," Lizzie added. "We don't want to stumble on a Hive."

"Agreed," Joseph nodded.

They headed for the train tunnel, finding half a dozen abandoned Mark 1 Lancers, which were the first variation when they still had knife bayonets instead of chainsaw bayonets. There were no corpses around them, but plenty of abandoned Lancers. Joseph narrowed his eyes, pulling his own Lancer off his back, the others following suit. Finally, they stopped as they found several cars with the COG symbol on it and dead Gears catered around it.

"Military train," Kait hummed.

"The only operation around here would've been Hollow Storm," Del recalled, "when they attacked the Locust underground."

"These train cars might have useful stuff in 'em," Kait suggested.

"Stop," Joseph said, raising his rifle. "We're not alone."

Everyone raised their rifle, but after a moment, a Carrier emerged from the shadows at the far end of their flashlights' illumination. Joseph swore harshly, all of them opening fire instantly. Joseph felt his panic rising as the Carrier ignored their bullets, leaning back and opening to fire its Cankers, its organic projectiles. Lizzie targeted the Cankers, but even as the other three sprayed the vulnerable insides of its chest, the Carrier didn't react.

Joseph began to tremble, his shots growing less accurate, and Lizzie glanced over at him as he began to gasp and wheeze at a rapid, panicked rate that would make him black out within minutes. She looked to the front again just as the Carrier stopped, leaning back to fire, directly under a gigantic icicle.

"Joseph, above it!" Lizzie shouted.

Joseph's gaze snapped up to the roof of the tunnel, and he raised his rifle at the same time as her and together, they sprayed the icicle. Finally, it broke free and fell, smashing the barrage of Cankers the Carrier had just released, then stabbed down through the Carrier's torso. The Carrier roared in pain, then began to explode apart. As it did, Lizzie turned to Joseph, who lowered his rifle, taking deep breaths and leaning into her as she wrapped her arms around him.

"What happened, man?" Del asked. "You sounded like you might pass out."

"I would have," Joseph croaked, still shaking and his breaths still rattling in and out.

"Ever since he lost his eye to that Carrier, he's been traumatized by Carriers," Lizzie explained. "He still has nightmares about them and seeing them causes him to have panic attacks. Usually they're not bad, because usually we avoid them, but this time, we couldn't just avoid it, and it surprised us, so it was worse."

"Jeez," Del sighed. "I'm sorry, man."

"It's not your fault," Joseph said, pulling back from Lizzie raising his rifle again. "I'm good. Let's go."

The others nodded, and they headed further into the tunnel, only to find that the Carrier had been at the very back of the tunnel, where it had collapsed. They began to search the train cars for anything useful, but all they found was a maintenance journal about the cooling mechanism for the Grindlifts they had used to invade the Locust's territory. Del suggested that maybe they could use that tech to upgrade Jack if they could find it, but they left it as an open suggestion as they, instead, headed back to their vehicles and started toward the coordinates again. After a few more minutes, they slowed to a stop as they reached a set of woods where the coordinates should be. A pile of boulders blocked their way enough that they could still pass, but only on foot. So, they all dismounted and started forward, all of them holding their Lancers.

"So, Kait, Del," Joseph said. "I've been meaning to ask. Why do you both have a Grenade Launcher Lancer?"

"In case we need something with more kick than bullets and don't have a Boomshot available," Kait said.

"And enough altitude to fire them," Del added.

"Fair enough," Joseph nodded.

They stopped as they found an abandoned camp, and Kait frowned, kneeling and picking up a journal.

"A scavenger camp," Lizzie said.

"This far north?" Del asked. "You think they're from Oscar's village?"

"They are," Kait nodded. "Lena and Norsko. A few of the people there were talking about them leaving the village. This journal says their new camp got wiped out, so they ran here...and got attacked again. We should try to find them. Tell them what happened."

"Good idea," Joseph nodded. "How hard could it be?"

The others all grimaced at his mildly sarcastic tone. They continued deeper into the woods, dropping off a low ledge and passing through a cave, only to find nothing but old trees and more snow.

"Marcus, there's no facility here," Del reported. "Just old growth forest."

"Trust me," Marcus responded. "It's there."

"So does Jinn know about this place?" Kait asked as they continued through the forest.

"Every First Minister's known," Marcus growled. "And they all did the same thing. Posted guards and tried to keep it secret."

"Secrets, huh?" Del asked. "There's a lot of that going around, these days."

"Let me know when you're close," Marcus grumbled. "Control out."

They continued through the forest before reaching a massive tree, easily ten feet wide, toppled onto its side, and a massive blue crystal beside it. Joseph frowned, resting his hand on the crystal for a moment.

"It's ice," Joseph said.

"That big?" Del asked.

"And stabbed into the ground?" Lizzie asked.

"Windflare," Joseph guessed. "I bet it's ice storms this far north, rather than lightning like we're used to."

"Great," Del sighed. "That should be fun."

They all ducked under the tree and sighed, seeing ice had formed on trees and had formed icicles at an angle past the tree from wind, and there were more massive ice crystals stabbed into the ground in the distance. And as they passed through the trees here, they could hear the wind beginning to climb. Finally, they found train tracks leading into a tunnel blocked by a huge, steel gate marked by a COG seal. Kait ducked through first, only to instantly hold a hand to her head, groaning. Joseph followed her through, turning on the flashlight on his Lancer, and when the others joined them, Lizzie did the same. As Kait and Del's Lancers didn't have flashlights, Jack shone his flashlight as well for them. They started forward, looking around carefully. There were a few abandoned sleeping bags and weapons, and then ahead of them, where the wall was broken and formed a tunnel for them to follow, there were pods and those fleshy Swarm tendrils.

"Hey, pods," Kait said.

"Outsiders, Cog, Swarm," Del listed. "We're the only ones who haven't been here."

"That's fine," Joseph said, taking the lead. "We're here now, and we have the best reason for it."

"That's true," Del nodded.

They followed the tunnel, but it merely emptied into the woods again on the far side of the tunnel. And by now, the wind was roaring through the trees. There was a derailed train buried in snow ahead of them, right beside a sign announcing their arrival at New Hope, but the entrance was blocked by the train. They began to try and find a way around through the trees, only to run headlong into a Windflare. They all took off at a sprint, watching as, all around them, massive spears of ice crashed to the ground, each strike preceded by fragments of the ice stabbing down in a trail leading up to the main piece. They struggled to run against the wind screaming directly into them from the front, avoiding falling ice when needed.

"Kait, Del, Carmines, one thing," Marcus radioed, Joseph barely able to hear him over the wind. "Once you're inside, you're...out things...COG that aren't...pretty."

"Marcus!?" Del shouted. "We're losing you!"

"It's the storm!" Kait shouted. "Just keep going! We've got to find New Hope!"

They reached a ledge with corrugated steel on the face of it and boosted each other up, the first two, Lizzie and Kait, pulling Del and Joseph up after them. Ahead of them, the storm was even worse, ice crashing down constantly, lightning flashing ahead of them, and the wind was screaming so loud that Joseph could barely hear the others over it, even using their comms, which was already in his ear. However, directly ahead of them was a ruined building almost entirely buried in snow, so they were almost there.

"Kait!" Del shouted, his voice barely carrying. "Look! The facility! Dead ahead!"

"Why would you say 'dead'!?" Joseph demanded as they all sprinted forward. "You know I'm cursed!"

Sure enough, a short burst of ice shards exploded into his chest instantly, though they threw him backward and allowed him to avoid the massive crystal chasing them. He shoved himself back up, charging after the others, only to catch up to them as they struggled to fend off a corrupted DR-1, which had been labeled as a Stump. Joseph arrived in time to shove Del's Lancer down as he was aiming his grenade launcher's laser sight down, forcing him to abort launch.

"The wind will throw it at us!" Joseph roared over the storm, through which even Lizzie and Kait's gunfire wasn't reaching them.

Del nodded, and they both began to fire as well, using the massive ice crystals as cover from the Stump's Tri-Shot. However, the storm wasn't cooperating with them. They were all constantly having to avoid falling ice crystals, with Joseph having to tackle Lizzie out of the way twice, and the Stump seemed to be in a clear spot, as none were landing around it. Joseph finally moved to advance, if only to be able to draw its fire, but just as soon as he stepped out, a falling ice crystal graze his back, not hurting him but launching him forward. A burst of Tri-Shot rounds immediately slammed into his chestplate and hurled him backward into the ice crystal that had hurled him, and he dropped onto his ass, groaning. Just as he did, however, Jack appeared beside the thing, launching a shock trap from the underside of his body. It immediately caused the Stump to convulse, the DeeBee body it was originally short-circuiting.

Lizzie stepped up beside Joseph and grabbed him, then hurled them both to the side just before another ice crystal exploded to the ground, narrowly missing him. As they stood, the electricity from the shock trap ended, and the Stump opened fire on Kait and Del again. Before it could round on him, Joseph charged, leaping onto the balcony the Stump was on and powering up his Chainsaw Bayonet, then slamming it down on the Stump. First the arm holding the Tri-Shot was severed, then Joseph's saw ripped through the Stump's body, splitting it in half before diving away just before it exploded. The other three ran forward, joining Joseph just inside of an enormous door into the facility. They slammed the door closed, shutting out the storm, and Marcus radioed almost on cue.

"Kids, do you copy?" Marcus asked.

"Yeah," Kait spoke up. "We're inside, now. Main building I think."

"Alright, you're looking for a biogenetics lab," Marcus said. "Entrance is a long hallway with a circular door at the end."

"Roger, Control," Joseph said. "We'll let you know when we find it."

"Another COG seal," Kait noticed, gesturing to a huge steel wall blocking their progress. "They're definitely hiding something."

"We already knew that," Joseph said. "I might be able to saw through it."

"This building's in rough shape," Del pointed out. "Might be a way around it."

They headed to the left side of the main room where a pair of bathrooms were situated. Joseph opened the door into the one further into the building, and smirked.

"Good call, Del," Joseph nodded. "Hole in the wall."

"Good," Del nodded.

Joseph headed into the gap, finding it was a thin space between the walls of different rooms, and turned sideways, squeezing through the gap. However, just as he arrived, something above him began to make fluttering, chittering noises. He raised his rifle, but saw nothing, so he held his fire.

"We're not alone in here," Kait noted.

"It'll be fine...ish," Del assured them. "Probably. Maybe."

"I'll keep my rifle ready," Lizzie decided.

They made their way through the next few rooms in silence before reaching the circular door, which had been blown up. Kait called it in the Marcus, who had apparently forgotten they did that, then told them to find another way in, telling them to look for Stasis Tanks. They followed a trail of holes through the wall, only to stop as they found themselves in a courtyard outside, with a Warden as company.

"Oh, shit!" Joseph swore. "Blast it!"

Del and Kait both fired a grenade, but as the explosions faded, the Warden was still stomping toward them. Everyone instantly began to fire at it, but no matter where their bullets struck it, they bounced off, whether because of the Locust Crystals or its armor. Finally, the Warden broke into a run, roaring, and they scattered, all firing carefully but still making no progress. Joseph grit his teeth. He really didn't want to have to fight this one up close like he had the last one. He doubted he could win that fight twice. However, finally, he lost his choice. He tripped over a chunk of ice buried in the snow and crashed to the ground, and the Warden charged. He threw himself to his feet, then dove out of the way of its maces. As he rolled to his feet, he fired a burst and knocked its helmet loose, but it merely shoved it back down onto its head, then leapt at him. He dove away from its mace, then stood, firing at it again as it advanced. It swiped at him once, twice. On the third, he ducked under the mace, allowing it to get stuck in a tree, swung his right arm forward, sending his right two Corpser Claws stabbing into its back, only for its crystals to shield it, though it was still thrown away. It roared as it crashed to the ground and rose again, only to find him already reaching it. He swiped with his right arm, and it roared, blocking the right two Corpser Claws again before his left arm swung forward, his left claws flashing out as well. It leaned back from the strike, but the higher of the two claws grazed its helmet, shredding the face of it and knocking what remained off. Then, the Warden roared in rage, slamming his mace into Joseph's chestplate. He crashed backward across the snow, losing his Lancer, but the others all opened fire instantly, targeting its head. Within seconds, its head had been reduced to ribbons. It crashed heavily to the ground, and Joseph groaned as he stood, walking back to his Lancer and picking it up, dusting the snow off.

"Those things suck," Joseph complained.

"Agreed," Del nodded. "Couldn't you shoot through their helmet with your Longshot?"

"I dunno," Joseph shrugged. "Let's just keep going. Before something worse finds us."

The others all agreed, and they headed for the far side of the courtyard and Joseph and Del opened a shutter door into a section of the facility where they could immediately see large, yellow tanks ahead of them. The others all ducked through, and Joseph and Del stepped inside, letting the door drop closed.

"Okay, those are definitely not stasis tanks," Del mused as they began to walk past the huge, metal tanks. "So, what are they?"

"They're poison," Joseph frowned, staring at an enormous triangular symbol that looked very similar to the chemical hazard symbol. "But I've never seen gas like this before."

"Hold your breath and move fast," Joseph advised.

They nodded and passed through the cloud of gas, only to realize that there were corrupted DeeBee Shepherds, officially labeled as Rejects, present. Del moved to the first instantly, ripping the power core out of its back, and a second later, Kait had done the second. But just as Joseph and Lizzie moved along a hallway to the left and tried to do the same to two more, a section of the ceiling collapsed, setting off the Rejects. Joseph swore, trading a stealthy removal of its power core to ripping through the power core with his chainsaw bayonet and kicking it away before it could explode. Lizzie, on the other hand, blasted the Reject that she'd been heading for with her Gnasher, sending it crashing into another before it exploded, also destroying the other. And then, as Lizzie traded her Gnasher for her Lancer, Rejects swarmed them from deeper into the facility. Joseph and Lizzie took the lead, killing the Rejects in a hail of bullets as they advanced through the facility, following the flow of Rejects in reverse. When they had to reload, both leaned back against the wall of the hallway, and Del and Kait quickly slipped past them to take the lead, allowing them to reload. They swapped three more times before they finally passed through a set of double doors and were greeted by a Flock. However, here, they improvised. Kait and Del both fired a grenade, and the rockets they released either exploded in the Flock itself, or it blasted the ceiling and collapsed a part of it onto the Flock, crushing the leeches. Within seconds, what few leeches had survived the explosions and collapsing stone were slaughtered by their bullets, and they were able to focus on their fires on the handful of Rejects that were also present.

"That was much easier," Joseph sighed. "Now, where?"

"There's a door over there," Lizzie suggested.

Kait tried to kick the double doors open, only to find they were stuck, but when she and Del rammed through them together, they promptly fell as the floor below them gave out. Joseph and Lizzie ran forward, shining their flashlights down after them, and Kait and Del pushed themselves up, raising a hand against the light.

"We're alright!" Kait called up to them. "You should come down here!"

Joseph looked around, spotting a rope, and tied it around a solid pile of debris, which weighed more than Joseph and Lizzie combined, then threw it down into the hole. He let Lizzie go first so that he could catch the rope if needed, but the debris held, and Lizzie reached the ground safely. Joseph followed, but halfway down he felt the debris shift.

"Oh, come on!" he complained, just before there was a crash and he fell, crashing down on his back atop an ancient, wire-frame bed.

The bed collapsed instantly, but the low-quality mattress still managed to soften his landing enough for him to not be injured. He sighed, pushing himself up, and looked around. They were in a ruined room that reminded Joseph of a prison cell. They made their way through it, Marcus explaining that he'd never seen the prison, but the lab they were heading for was where Niles Samson, a COG scientist, experimented on the children of emulsion-poisoned miners, and was still present as he had preserved himself as an A.I. They passed through a prison-like lab, passing several places where the poison gas was leaking, as they had above, before finding a prison cell five times the size of the others, the walls a bright yellow and decorated by childish chalk drawings and paintings on paper taped to the walls, and with a mirror on one side that was probably clear on the other side.

"Looks like Niles had a favorite test subject," Kait noted.

Joseph smashed the already-cracked mirror, finding a camera on a tripod facing it. "This was an observation room. She wasn't just the favorite, she was the primary test subject."

"This is disgusting!" Kait spat. "All of it!"

"Agreed," Joseph nodded. "Marcus, what was the purpose of these experiments?"

"Over my pay grade," Marcus answered. "But it had something to do with the Locust, which means it has something to do with you, Kait."

"Understood," Kait responded. "Hopefully we can get some answers from Samson."

Finally, they climbed up a ladder and found stasis tanks, and monstrous creatures that weren't Swarm or Locust floating in them.

"Marcus, we found the lab," Kait reported.

"Good," Marcus responded. "But you're gonna wanna avoid those tanks."

"Why?" Del asked. "What's in 'em?"

"The early and angry fruits of Niles' efforts," Marcus answered. "They're called Sires. Last time I saw 'em, they were a little...moody."

"Don't interrupt the grouchy monsters' nap," Lizzie summarized. "Got it."

"Just find Niles," Marcus instructed. "He should be close."

"Understood," Joseph confirmed as they headed for the door opposite the walkway where stasis tanks filled a large chamber to either side of them. They followed the hallway along, finding one room where a Sire had been dissected, several offices and computer rooms.

"So, you got any idea what you're gonna ask this...guy?" Del asked Kait. "You know...about your...um...connection thing?"

"I think I might ask about the whole, 'imprisoned children' thing, first," Kait responded.

"Okay, fair enough," Del nodded. "And then?"

"And then..." Kait sighed. "What does all this have to do with me?"

As they continued through the facility, they found an ancient data drive, from which Jack pulled a message about someone inside of a Chairman Munroe's advisors planning and arranging for Niles and his experiments to be moved to a separate location so that Munroe wouldn't find out about it. Then, finally, they reached what seemed to be the main computer.

"Marcus, we made it," Kait said.

"Look for a switch to turn on the AI construct," Marcus instructed them, "then, put on your tinfoil hats."

"Sounds promising," Joseph said, throwing the power switch. "Can't wait."

After a moment of silence, Kait began to report their failure, only for the computer finally start to boot up, a voice speaking in gibberish for a moment before its words became less broken and its speech grew understandable as a face lit by orange light appeared on the enormous screen in the center of the computer.

"Will we listen? Did you listen? Are you listening?"

"That's Niles alright," Marcus confirmed. "Still batshit after all these years."

"Jack, get over here and pull whatever files you can," Del ordered.

"Oh," Niles chuckled. "Hello, naughty fellow."

"Hey, is Jack going to get some weird virus plugged into this thing?" Del asked.

"Robot chlamydia?" Lizzie asked.

"Ew," Joseph grimaced.

"I dunno," Marcus said. "Just hose him down when you're done."

Del checked the files Jack was pulling and groaned. "Ah shit. Most of the files are corrupted. But...several of them mention something called Kadar. That mean anything to you?"

Kait shook her head. "No."

Joseph and Lizzie both shrugged.

"It does to me," Marcus growled. "I'll have Baird take a look."

Just then, there was a shrill cry and a Flock swarmed around a corner off to the side, crashing into a computer and denting it as they flooded toward them. Joseph swore, grabbing Lizzie and diving to the ground just as Kait and Del dove aside as well, Del bringing Jack with him.

"The Final Cleansing," Niles began as Flock leeches began to latch onto the computer, "has it begun? May I...terminate?"

"No!" Kait yelled.

"Forget it!" Del shouted. "Come on!"

"Just run!" Joseph shouted, shoving Kait into a run away from Niles.

"As someone once said to me," Niles said as they fled, "Nighty night."

The four of them fled at a sprint as the facility around them began to break apart and explode, several Flocks tearing through it. Poison gas like they'd found at the beginning of the facility began to flood into the facility around them. They ran at a dead sprint, dodging around falling debris and scattered desks, filing cabinets, and chunks of stone as they fled. They ran up a ramp formed from a collapsed floor, down a hallway, up a set of stairs, and then down another hallway before Joseph finally shouldered through a double-door, his next step missing as the far side of the door was a snow-covered ramp outside. He swore as he promptly crashed to the ground, rolling along for a few feet before stopping.

"Tell me Jack got enough data off that weirdo," Kait said as she and the others followed Joseph out of the building more gracefully.

"We'll check back at the skiff," Del decided. "Come on."

Just then, a section of the roof ahead of them partially collapsed and Rejects began to climb onto it.

"Incoming!" Lizzie warned, she and Joseph, both having their rifles out still, opening fire.

"You sure about this whole rooftop plan?" Kait asked.

"Just get to the other side!" Del shouted over the sound of a pair of DeeBees exploding.

More and more of the roof began to collapse as they raced across it, blasting DeeBees out of their path as they went. Then, at the far end, a trio of Swarm Drones moved to meet them with Mark Two Lancers, only to die almost instantly as Joseph and the others raced past. They found a slope down to a courtyard, but as they began to slide down it, a handful more Drones stepped out of cover near the bottom, firing up at them. They all shouted in surprise, and Joseph in pain as a sniper bullet bounced off of his helmet first shot, then returned fire. Two of the five were hit, but only one of them died, and when they all reached the courtyard, Kait vaulted over the cover the wounded Drone was behind and finished him with a burst to the face. Lizzie vaulted another piece of cover, pinning another Drone down and ripping into its head with her chainsaw bayonet. As they killed those two, the sniper popped up again, only for Del and Joseph to open fire, forcing it to drop back down long enough for Joseph to swap his Lancer for his Longshot. Then, when the sniper stepped out again, Joseph beat him to the shot, bursting its head apart. He swapped his guns back and joined the others as they headed through a trail of broken walls forming a path through the ground floor of the facility. Several more Rejects and a group of Juvies attacked them, but they all died relatively easily as Joseph and the others didn't slow down from a run.

Gas was still venting into the facility around them, and while Joseph and Lizzie could breathe on account of their helmets' filtration systems, Kait and Del were running while breathing only in short gasps anywhere there was no gas. Finally, they hit an icy slope free of gas and the pair began to gasp and pant for breath as they slid down the ramp, Joseph and Lizzie in front. However, at the end of the slope, they were spat out of a hole in a cliff and landed in a heap outside of New Hope's gate.

"I take back what I said earlier," Kait groaned. "New Hope...not pleasant."

"Agreed," Del nodded as everyone began to scrape themselves up. "I think I've seen enough of this place for today. Or tomorrow. Or ever."

"Seconded on 'ever,'" Joseph said.

"Motion carried," Lizzie agreed.

"Let's get back to the Skiff and see if we have a solid lead," Kait suggested, everyone agreeing and following her back the way they'd come.
