Chapter 26: Adrien's Double Life.

(Quantic Universe Earth 19274729568301958374, Paris, France, October 28th, 2015, third person POV...)

Adrien narrates to the "audience" thanks to Marinette previously giving him the ability to break the 4th wall, "Hey, guys and gals. As for some of you who aren't familiar, I'm Adrien. In every day life, I'm a normal young man."

In Sparkle Fizzer vs. The Bubbler, on the outside of Francoise Dupont High School, Adrien opens the first one and remarks, "Whoa! A scarf?! Thanks, Marinette!"

Marinette nods.

Adrien opens the second present and he states, "Oh! A Shashibo Shape Shifting Box?!"

Marinette replies, "One of the many common birthday presents for boys."

Adrien hugs Marinette warmly, and she hugs him back before sharing a brief passionate kiss.

Adrien continues saying, "Well, almost normal. And that's just because my father is Gabriel Agreste, one of the greatest world-renowned fashion designers in the world. I sometimes model for him, especially by posing for his advertising campaigns. Technically, I don't hate it, but I don't want to make a career out of it, no matter what he says. In reality, I only do this to make him happy. Ever since my mother Emilie Agreste died, he hasn't been the same. He's become overbearingly strict, controlling, possessive, and emotionally neglectful. And that's not even the second topping of the iceberg; in secret, my father's actually the real face behind the silver cowl of Hawk Moth, Paris' first ever magical terrorist who specializes in emotional manipulation by using dark magic-infused butterflies to possess people and turn them into supervillains through any negative emotions, such as anger, jealousy, remorse, grumpiness, sadness, fear, frustration, or even if it's a lust for murderous vengeance. Yeah, it was a shocker when I found out. The reason why my father is a magical terrorist is because he wants to conjointly use the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculouses to access their ultimate power to wish for my mother to be revived from the dead, and yet he doesn't care about the price to pay in exchange or even the fact that he'll end up causing total event collapse before the universe resets itself to adjust to the circumstances of his wish as reality is altered to suit his wish. And with the revelations of how far he's willing to go to revive Mom, even outside of Akumatizing me into two different supervillains whose different superpowers and mindsets caused the end of the world, as well as how me and my cousin Felix Fathom were really created, Gabi Grassette has literally burned down and crumbled the bridges of our relationship, but until I can say that to his face at his trial, I'm gonna patiently hold my tongue. Until then, the status quo of my father being able to control me remains somewhat steadfast, but also at the same time, not quite so, thanks to Marinette and Chloe. Anyway, on a daily basis, his assistant and future crime partner Nathalie is actually the one taking care of me. But who knows how long it'll be before she decides to help Gabi control me for attempted defiance or even if she'll actually and genuinely try to usurp control from Gabriel from the shadows and leave him to the wolves on Heroes' Day, thereby jeopardizing our plans to throw them both in prison for terrorism and attempted murder among other things?"

In Sparkle Fizzer vs. The Bubbler, Nathalie walks into the dining room and she says while handing Adrien a tablet, "Here's your schedule, Adrien."

Adrien takes it and replies, "Thanks, Nathalie."

Adrien continues, "Both Nathalie and Placide take care of me. I call Placide the Gorilla because, well, he's huge and he doesn't talk whatsoever for some reason, just like an actual gorilla, and let's face it, he probably wouldn't be happy if I called him by his actual name, as Marinette surmised. Anyway, Placide drives me to school and to all of my activities. Between fashion photoshoots, fencing class, martial arts class, learning how to speak Mandarin Chinese, and learning how to play a piano, I never really have much time to myself... unless you count the times I do a switcheroo with my clones without arousing suspicions. Before I got my clones, I didn't even have time to enjoy my amazing room or to invite my friends for some quality time, particularly because of the chances of Nathalie, Placide, or my father finding out being pretty high, even if we were quiet or even if we had the place to ourselves, and that's just because my father's paranoia includes having security cameras in the house. But that's why I'm thankful that I get to go to public school and see my friends, including Nino in particular among others. I tell him everything, well, almost everything.

One of the things I can't tell him, aside from me being a humanoid Sentimonster, aside from my father being the terrorist of Paris, and aside from Marinette's body being inhabited by a female human soul from another universe where this reality's multiverse is a cartoon with thousands of associated fanfictions with the cartoon directed by a misogynistic (bleep!) who worships the grounds of a toxic love square, a toxic trust-issue laden identity rule, incompetent educators, an incompetent superhero mentor, me being a naïve coward when it comes to bullies, me being easily controlled by anyone wearing my Amokized ring subtly or forcibly, and so forth that's wrong with the original timeline, is that I'm also Cat Noir, and I help my fellow heroes protect Paris from any supervillains Hawk Moth invents or any real supervillains that dare to trespass terrorized grounds. This has really changed my life somewhat for the better because, before my debut as Cat Noir, I couldn't even go to school because Gabi was too scared about me leaving the house, paranoia and inability to move on from my dead mother aside. My kwami's named Plagg. For thousands of years before Marinette reprogrammed him, all he could think about was food, and it would always be smelly Camembert cheese."

In The Team Forms: Origins Part 1, Marinette and Tikki follow Tom and Sabine to the kitchen.

Marinette whispers under her breath, "(Extremely quietly) I wish that Plagg took things more seriously every day, including his gluttony and obsessive love for Camembert cheese, and I wish that Plagg was more adventurous with food that Adrien's room service can provide without arousing suspicions from Mr. Agreste or from Nathalie."

Adrien continues, "Thanks to Marinette, Plagg's no longer lazy, and thanks to him, I can become a superhero! I just have to say, '"Plagg, claws out,"' he enters my Miraculous, the ring I'm wearing, and that's it. Marinette also advocated for me, her, and our team to have our kwamis memorize our supersuits as magical suits of armor with animal and insect wings according to the animals and insects that our Miraculouses represent, simply because we might be nearly invulnerable, but we're not gonna be easily protected from bullets, tasers, or anything else that can penetrate our supersuits if they weren't suits of armor. And also because a big number of Hawk Moth's Akumatized villains from Horrid Captain all the way to Hawk Moth himself Akumatizing himself into Nightormentor for the first, second and last times in Confrontation thanks to his Rooster Miraculous Alliance Ring are all able to fly if Hawk Moth allows it or if the plots of the Miraculous Ladybug episodes allow it, and in Marinette's view, it's best if the French Miraculous Superhero Team have more than enough troops that are also perfectly able to fly. Anyway, Plagg's also the one who gives me my powers. With my Cataclysm, I can destroy whatever I touch. With my Black Hole power, I can create destructive black holes that can either incapacitate my enemies, imprison them, or kill them with darkness. (Yeah, Marinette cautioned against using that superpower to kill our enemies unless the situation required for it is extremely dire.) With my Black Storm power, I can fire bursts of destruction magic in the same manner as me and my counterparts being able to use our white Mega Cataclysms while Akumatized as Cat Blanc combined with the exact same way my late production counterparts used their Black Storm powers as shown in concept footage Marinette shared with me. With my Raising Raze superpower, all I have to do is say '"Raze It To The Ground,"' and I unleash enough destruction magic to reverse every form of damage done by supervillain attacks and purify the Akuma butterflies with the same destruction magic destroying the corrupted Butterfly Miraculous transmission magic. But that superpower has to be used under specific circumstances, for I would end up exhausted immediately afterwards. With my Catalyst superpower, I can use destruction magic as a counter-balance to creation magic from the Ladybug Miraculous to fix everything damaged or obliterated in a superhero vs. supervillain fight, or even revive dead people while healing their wounds if they ever get caught in the crossfire. And lastly among other things, with my Disastrous Catastrophe superpower, I can easily destroy anything I specify, such as proof that the Miraculouses, the Order of the Guardians, the kwamis, and everything else associated with either or all of them which can be destroyed or suitably altered, such as photographs, electronic recordings, newspapers, or even memories. Of course, using that superpower drains Plagg of his physical energy and thus he would have to eat a great deal of food to recharge his powers, so it's best if we use it under the most dire of circumstances.

Anyway, originally, I'm not supposed to get any uses of my powers wrong because after a Miraculous user as a teenager or a child uses their powers, they'll have five minutes until they transform back to normal, and the only way to bypass the time limit is by becoming an adult, even in the metaphorical sense by training their powers for months, and in their darkest hour, they have to realize one out of many meanings of what it means to be a hero. And in the literal sense, adult Miraculous users such as my father as Hawk Moth can use their powers as many times as they want. But in Hawk Moth's case, that means that as long as he removes the Akumatized butterflies of his first champions, he can keep Akumatizing new ones. But thanks to Marinette's wishing power, we all bypassed those rules and I can use my Cataclysm and other destructive powers as many times as I want without detransforming, without needing to feed Plagg, and without any other side effects. Anyway, I sometimes don't get enough victories in my own way because Ladybug's foreknowledge tends to interfere with more complicated plans that we can think of. Don't get me wrong; I know how invaluable her foreknowledge is, but she needs to mellow out and defeat some Akumatized villains the chronological way. Although I don't think she's going to listen; she's as stubborn and nasty-tempered and foul-mouthed as they come. Anyway, in order for us to take care of Akumatized supervillains, I have to use my Cataclysm, Ladybug has to capture the Akuma butterflies to purify them whenever she can, and the day is saved, regardless of whether or not our teammates are available to help out. Being Cat Noir is truly awesome. I can finally do whatever I want to do, say whatever comes to mind, but Ladybug and Screechclaw reminded me that my powers come with a great deal of responsibility, and that any superheroes who use their powers to do whatever they want or who use their superhero identities to say what comes to mind tend to ruin their reputations, anger people, upset children, and end up in prison among other things. Ladybug said that she understands how sheltered my life was because of my father, but I can't go around saying what comes to mind or doing whatever I want, as I learned the hard way when we faced Theo Barbot as Copycat. But on the bright side, I get to save Paris with Marinette as Ladybug, and in conclusion, it's a nice break from my life at home. When I'm Cat Noir, I really have a lot of good times. (His phone rings) Ah! That was my alarm to tell me that it's time for my Chinese-speaking lesson. Placide might be waiting for me. I gotta go. And who knows? Maybe I'll get to save Paris again! Bye for now!"

The End.
