SmackDown: 22/6/2000
SmackDown was live at The Pyramid in Memphis, Tennessee. Kicking off the show was the McMahon-Helmsley Faction. Triple H said that although he disagreed with Vince's decision to put his World Wrestling Federation Championship on the line this Sunday at King of the Ring, he would reluctantly agree to it. Although he was mad that he could theoretically lose the title without being pinned, he said he would triumph because the WWF Championship is the most important thing in his life.
Vince disagreed with that statement. He said that the most important thing in one's life shouldn't be a title, or money, or even health or happiness - it should be family, family values and love. Vince said that although he had issues with his wife, son, daughter and son-in-law, he still put them aside in the name of love. He also said that love means putting forth challenges to your family, and announced that he would team with Shane and Triple H that night to take on Rock, Kane and Undertaker - a preview of Sunday's King of the Ring! That decision angered Shane, Triple H and Stephanie, who left Vince alone in the ring.
Shane was already in his limo when Triple H and Stephanie caught up to him backstage. Triple H convinced Shane to stay, saying "If I'm doing it, you're doing it."
The first match of the show will be the Bladewolf & Trish Stratus vs The Hardy Boyz & Lita.
In the arena, the Hardy Boyz' theme plays to a pop from the crowd as the duo came out with Lita at their side. The bell rings and Tony Chimel begins announcements. " The following contest is a 3-on-two Mixed Tag Team match scheduled for one-fall! Making their way to the ring with Lita... MATT & JEFF: THE HARDY BOYZ!"
"We've about to see a preview of what's to come this Sunday at King of the Ring." Cole said. "The Bladewolf will take on the Hardy Boyz in a Two-on-One Handicap No Holds Barred match this Sunday, and King, those odds have to favour the Bladewolf."
"Oh yeah." Jerry nodded as the Hardys and Lita enter the ring and pose on the turnbuckles and ring ropes before their theme dies down.
OOOOOOWHOOOOOO!
I bring the Darkness (End of Days) by Jim Johnston plays as the Bladewolf walks out with Trish Stratus at his side, earning a mixed reaction from the fans. The couple start making their way down to the ring.
"And their opponents, making their way to the ring... THE BLADEWOLF & TRISH STRATUS!" Tony Chimel announced before leaving the ring.
"For the first time ever, we're going to see Trish Stratus compete in a wrestling match." Cole said as replays showed what happened last Thursday on SmackDown when Lita hit the Leg Drop on Trish. "And King, the match at King of the Ring will be No Holds Barred, which means no Disqualifications. We've seen what the Bladewolf can do when he gets his hands on weapons. And we've seen him take on three opponents at once several times. He'll really be in his element at King of the Ring."
"Oh he will, no doubt about that." Jerry nodded in agreement as the Bladewolf gets onto the ring apron, staring Matt and Jeff down while Trish climbs on beside him and smirks at Lita.
Bladewolf climbs into the ring and opens the ropes to let Trish through, then they stand across from the Hardy Boyz and Lita, staring them down as the Bladewolf's theme dies down and the referee calls for the bell.
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
Trish and Lita walk forward and get in each other's faces, talking trash to the other before Lita shoves Trish back into Bladewolf's chest, to which he caught her and steadied her before rushing forward and clotheslines Matt Hardy. Jeff pounces on the Demon Wolf as Lita tackles Trish down.
"And here we go!" Cole exclaimed over the cheers. "Trish taking on Lita! Jeff Hardy hammering away on the Bladewolf!"
"Catfight!" Jerry cheered in delight as he watched the two women roll around, punching each other.
Bladewolf throws Jeff Hardy off him and takes him down with a clothesline before grabbing Matt Hardy and hits a German Suplex across the ring, sending Matt rolling out under the bottom rope and down to the floor. Jeff pounces on Bladewolf from behind, landing some rights to the forehead of the Bladewolf as he gets him intop the corner before climbing up the second turnbuckle to start hammering away on the Bladewolf's forehead only to be pushed off.
"Bladewolf with a powerful shove to Jeff Hardy." Cole noted.
Bladewolf soon gets out onto the ring apron, and the referee orders the Hardy Boyz to do the same while the women back into their respective corners. Trish sorted her hair and ring attire before pecking Bladewolf's lips and stalks forward to lock up with Lita.
"Referee restoring order, now Lita and Trish will square off." Cole said.
"Catfight!" Jerry cheered again with a laugh.
In their lockup, Trish quickly got around to Lita'#s back, wrapped her arms around the woman's waist and brought her down to the mat before locking in a headlock. "Nice takedown by Trish." Cole approved. "Bet Bladewolf tought her that."
"Like any respectful boyfriend." Jerry nodded.
Lita kicked her legs out as she tried to break the headlock, managing to fight to her feet before elbowing Trish in the stomach repeatedly. Trish broke the hold and turned away, clutching her stomach. Lita grabbed her and Irish whipped her off the ropes, Trish bounced off, came back, only to duck Lita's clothesline attempt and the woman turned into a clothesline of Trish's own.
"What a clothesline." Cole said.
"Woo!" Jerry whooped, greatly enjoying this.
Trish grabs Lita and tosses her into the corner before running and colliding with her in a body slam, then pulls her into a close-quarters clothesline, followed by a leg drop across the throat of the woman.
"Trish in control here." Cole said. Trish pulls Lita to her feet and Irish whips her into the ropes, but Lita comes back and lands a dropkick. "But a dropkick from Lita says otherwise!"
"Wow." Jerry shook his head.
Lita walks over and grabs Trish, but the blonde elbows Lita repeatedly in the stomach before landing a headbutt, then scoops Lita up and hits a powerslam. She runs, bounces off the ropes and hits a running elbow drop before hooking Lita's leg.
"The ciover!" Cole said.
"One!"
"Two-!"
Lita kicks out at two.
"And Lita kicks out at two." Cole said. Trish gets to her feet, walks over to her man and tags in the Bladewolf. "Oh no."
"Lita better get out!" Jerry said as the Bladewolf enters the ring and stalks towards Lita. "Run Lita!"
Wisely, Lita quickly did so and tags in Jeff Hardy, sliding out the ring afterwards. Jeff jumps in and tries taking Bladewolf down with a flying clothesline but the Bladewolf caught him and slammed him down to the mat.
"What strength. What power from the former WWF Champion." Cole said.
Bladewolf flips his hair back before he grabs Jeff by his hair, causing the referee to tell him off but he backs off after a glare from Bladewolf, who then rams Hardy's head off the turnbuckle, then drives his elbow into the side of Hardy's head, before driving his fist into Jeff's stomach repeatedly, followed by a knee before he pulls him close and hits a quick belly-to-belly suplex.
"Woah!" Jerry exclaimed.
"The quickness of the Bladewolf!" Cole nodded. "Jeff Hardy is in serious trouble here as the Bladewolf dominates."
Bladewolf walks over, grabbing Jeff by his right ankle to stop him from reaching for his brother. Bladewolf pulls Jeff back then brings his elbow down onto Jeff's leg, then clobbers him in the face before getting to his feet. Bladewolf lands a stomp to Jeff's stomach, causing Jeff to clutch that area, then he was grabbed and pulled to his feet before Irish whipped into the ropes. Bladewolf goes for a right hand but Jeff ducks, bounces off the ropes as Bladewolf turns, and Jeff Hardy takes him down with a flying clothesline.
"And Jeff Hardy!" Cole exclaimed as the crowd cheered, rallying behind Hardy. "Jeff Hardy now with a chance!"
Jeff reaches for Matt, but the Bladewolf had already recovered from his attack and gotten to his feet. Bladewolf walks over and grabs Jeff by his legs, but Jeff turns, pulls his legs in then pushes them out with the force sending Bladewolf stumbling into the corner and falling to a knee afterwards, which allows Jeff to turn, leap... AND HE TAGS IN MATT HARDY!
"Here comes Matt Hardy!" Cole shouted.
Matt jumps into the ring and goes on the attack as he clobbers Bladewolf repeatedly before kicking him in the stomach and starts setting him up for the Twist of Fate... BUT TRISH ATTACKS HIM FROM BEHIND!
"Look out!" Jerry exclaimed.
"Trish attacking Matt Hardy as he was about to hit the Twist of Fate on the Bladewolf!" Cole added.
Lita runs in and tackles Trish, but the momentarily distraction allowed Bladewolf to scoop Hardy up onto his shoulders... AND HE HITS THE FURY OF THE WOLF!
"Fury of the Wolf!" Cole shouted as Bladewolf quickly hooked the legs. "Now the cover!"
"One!"
"Two!"
"Three! Ring the bell!" The referee called.
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
I bring the Darkness (End of Days) played as Bladewolf got to his feet and grabbed Trish, pulling her away from Lita as they quickly exist the ring while Jeff and Lita check on Matt. "Here are your winners... TRISH STRATUS AND THE BLADEWOLF!"
"The distraction paid off for Bladewolf and Trish, and the Bladewolf picks up the victory. Is that what will happen Sunday when he faces Jeff and Matt again?" Cole questioned.
"I don't know, but I'm looking forward to it!" Jerry said.
Bladewolf and Trish back up the ramp with smug smiles, Bladewolf putting an arm around Trish's shoulders as the blonde gloats about their victory to the Hardys and Lita, who look at them with glares on their faces...
And that's it for this chapter. The next one will be King of the Ring 2000.
