Chapter 29: Marinette's Double Life.

(Quantic Universe Earth 19274729568301958374, Paris, France, November 5th, 2015, third person POV...)

As Marinette types in her computer journal while Tikki writes the same things being typed on the computer, Marinette narrates, "Marinette's journal. November 5th, 2015. Yesterday, we stopped another supervillain before going on to stop Princess Fragrance. Jean Duparc in Ms. Mendeleiev's class was Akumatized into the Magician of Misfortune, and his only goal was to attempt to make the Eiffel Tower disappear in a burst of smoke. My guess is he got (bleep!) about how many people make fun of his stage magic tricks while pointing out to children how they work. Even for me as a superhero who actually uses divine, supernaturally universal magic, that's not cool at all. Stage magicians work hard to entertain children and pass along messages from the Lord in some cases. Anyway, I'll have to ask Jean about it as gently as possible when and if I get the chance. Fortunately, we all were there to stop him, except for me as I used Fanette to take my place because I not only had science class, but I also had to ace a test from Ms. Bustier's class."

In an unknown scene from Aroma Rose vs. Princess Fragrance, Marinette puts down her pencil from having completed her test in Ms. Bustier's class.

Marinette waits patiently and Ms. Bustier announces, "All right, class, time's up! Pencils down, and I'll be coming over to check your test answers."

Marinette and Adrien share a wink unseen by everyone.

Marinette continues, "Ms. Bustier gave me an A+ for my best effort because I studied hard and got all the answers right. I tend to forget that it's easy to be Ladybug in this timeline, not like my counterparts all across the canon universes and timelines. Don't get me wrong, we love being superheroes and it's a thrill to protect Paris from supervillains created by Gabriel Agreste as Hawk Moth until we can recover the Butterfly Miraculous for good. But unfortunately, because my counterparts didn't have the advantages that I have, aside from just my foreknowledge of Miraculous Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, they always come up with weird and often ridiculous excuses to explain why they're late for or absent from school for lengthy periods of time to counterparts of Mom, Dad, our teachers, and even to Alya, especially because my counterparts refused for four seasons to reveal their identity to Alya. I can't even begin to explain in detail how many fake stories they have to come up with since school started here in 2015, when Hawk Moth debuted through Stoneheart. Along with the fact that almost nobody believes the legitimacy of these stories. Besides that, every single time that a new supervillain turns up, we have to disappear as secretly as possible to fight the villains and return them to normal. But the thing is, in my timeline, I have the advantage of having perfectly synchronized clones in the same style as the ability to multiply while using the Mouse Miraculous but without being small and without any side effects or any known disadvantages when it comes to clones, so therefore, I never have to worry about missing school or having to explain to my parents why my grades are seriously declining. And along with that, I revealed my identities and origins and future to my parents Tom Dupain and Sabine Cheng, specifically before my Ladybug debut. Sure, they were shocked and horrified and sympathetic, particularly at my death and rebirth, but they accepted this in stride, having been taught about the theory of reincarnation and having been taught through science fiction and science lectures in real life about the nature of fixed time points and other events in the past, present, and future that can't be altered sometimes or most of the time if someone or something already sets them in stone. They were also outraged at my lengthy detailed explanation about the original timeline, particularly the way Ms. Bustier and Mr. Damocles are incompetent when it comes to bullies other than Canon Chloe and other than Lila before the Confrontation episode of season 5, the way Thomas Astruc on my Earth ruined his own reputation before seasons 3, 4, and 5 ended his tenure as director of the show, and pretty much everything that was wrong with the timeline, before and after the final battle with Monarch and before my counterpart was asked to keep his identity a secret from Adrien, a la the ending of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man going all the way to the ending of Spider-Man 2, and before the final battle of Spider-Man 3 along with the parallels being similar to the cover up of and exposure of Two-Face's crimes thanks to the Joker in The Dark Knight and the Dark Knight Rises. To say that Mom and Dad were (bleep) was one of the biggest understatements of the New Year's Day of 2009, when I chose to come clean. But anyway, they nevertheless supported me from the start, even before I advocated for the teenagers graduated from high school and university in the city that I recruited in the correct age group order over the years for Miraculous training to allow their families to know their identities, as this would prove valuable when putting their mettles to the test. And aside from all of that, whenever a supervillain appears, in order for me to transform into Ladybug, I just have to say, Tikki, spots on! Once that happens, I become Ladybug, and of course, I was the first Miraculous user of the 21st century to actually envision myself as a version of Ladybug wearing a full-fledged suit of armor along with a pair of techno-organic ladybug wings to allow me to fly. Along with that, I have access to not only my magical yoyo, but also various other Miraculous jewels' weapons and various superhero and supervillain weapons.

But nevertheless, I can't allow just anyone to see my kwami, Tikki, as she gives me my powers. And without Tikki, I can't become Ladybug. With that said, I advocated for my wishing power to give Tikki and all other kwamis in our ranks the ability to change their appearance at will for long periods of time without any side effects and without any drawbacks whatsoever. Not only would it be a problem if Tikki was seen, even despite my press conference just shortly after we defeated Stoneheart and returned him to normal, but also, anyone who sees Tikki might try to capture her either for domestication or for experimentation. And trust me, I'd be on a murderous rampage with all of my other abilities and resources if it meant being able to save Tikki and regain my Ladybug powers. In any case, I can do pretty much any kind of awesome thing with my yoyo. For example, if I'm unable to fly for any reason, I can use my yoyo as a grappling hook to swing around any modern city, although the potential strain on my arm muscles would be murder, and I'd know precisely how Spider-Man feels about web-swinging around New York City simply by getting from 88th Street to 34th Street in the Manhattan borough in under 3.2 minutes. But aside from that, I'm able to swing around on my yoyo because of the fact that the string on the yoyo is unlimited and unbreakable. I also can not only use my yoyo to tie up my enemies, but I can also spin it super fast to imitate a shield capable of slicing through even the toughest metals made by man, such as the metal for a world leader's military safety bunker. My mission aside from retrieving the Butterfly Miraculous, the Peacock Miraculous, and the first Miraculous spellbook, is also to capture the Akuma butterflies that Hawk Moth uses to transform people into supervillains through their negative emotions. Normally, that would be impossible, but thankfully, my yoyo has a special function that allows it to purify the Akumas back into harmless white butterflies. Sometimes, depending on my foreknowledge and depending on how tough Hawk Moth makes his supervillain victims, I'd have to summon out of nowhere an object to assist me and my team. All I have to do is say Lucky Charm. But each time, a weird object appears, but not weird to me, since most of these items are the same items my chronological counterparts had used to defeat the chronological supervillains, Akumatized and otherwise. Of course, that would depend on how tough Hawk Moth ensures his victims become and it would depend on how much the circumstances of a supervillain being Akumatized diverges from the canon timeline source material, Canon Chloe being a bully aside. Anyway, if a different item appears, not to worry; even if not for my advanced superhuman intellect, I can always think outside the box to come up with a solution that allows my Lucky Charm objects to be used to defeat the villains in question. Then I have to capture the Akuma butterfly in my yoyo to purify it of its dark magic energy and turn it back into a harmless white butterfly. Of course, I'm about 25% sure that the '"butterflies"' Hawk Moth uses are actually white cabbage moths. Eh, who knows? Anyway, once I purify the Akuma, with and without my Lucky Charm object, I can summon my Miraculous Ladybug cure to reverse the damages done by a supervillain attack. See, my Miraculous Ladybug cure in the appearance of a swarm of magical ladybugs can easily repair what was damaged or totally obliterated, replace anything irreplaceable in terms of objects that take more energy from the swarm to fix, heal anyone of any injury sustained in the battles, and revive the dead while also healing them. But unfortunately, I always have to make sure that whoever was killed in the Akuma battles and revived by my Miraculous Ladybug seeks out therapy because, as I explained to Adrien, it doesn't matter if the Miraculous Ladybug can revive the dead while healing them of any injury; the emotional and mental trauma can't be fixed as that requires a greater deal of healing magic, and any fatal injury sustained in an Akuma battle that instantly kills the afflicted party will still hurt a lot even after the Miraculous Ladybug revives them and heals them of the injury, especially if it's the result of a supervillain hurtling a computer at their heads, for one notable example from the Robostus episode. But on top of that, there's definitely not enough time to get bored or do nothing during missions; between my mission to retrieve Hawk Moth's stolen property from him, attending school, spending time with my parents, spending time with Adrien, helping civilians in times of trouble, and battling even real life supervillains like Techno-Pirate or Ignoblia in the future, I have to constantly maintain awareness and be on the run in case anything goes wrong. But above all, being Ladybug is amazing. I'd never imagined in my previous life having the opportunity to become a superhero with actual powers, especially on a level of this magnitude if my current life right now was somehow a fanfiction story by a fanfiction author who wants the Miraculous Ladybug franchise destroyed from the inside out after watching the first 5 seasons of the original show and becoming more and more outraged with everything wrong in the original timeline. But now, I can do right by that author and many others like him or her by eliminating all of the problems they have with Thomas Astruc, his posse, and the show in question."

Marinette stops for a minute before narrating as she types into her computer journal after giving the signal to Tikki that she was ready to continue, "But anyway, aside from all of that, I'm super glad that I wound up in the Thomas Astruc and Chloe Paye directed Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir cartoon rather than the Jeremy Zag directed Miraculous Ladybug Movie. I mean, really, the things that happened in the movie somewhat disgust me. The Miraculous Ladybug cure coming from the immense love from the people of Paris in the aftermath of a grand final victory, my counterpart's yoyo enabling her to fly, Hawk Moth being able to create more than one Akuma without becoming Scarlet Moth and being able to Akumatize himself to the point of being able to fly, manipulate objects through telekinesis, fire volts of electricity even through his swarms of Akumatized butterflies, warp reality like Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch and various iterations of Stanley Ipkiss and his successors as the Big Head with the Mask of Loki, and turn water into molten lava, Plagg's more disgusting behaviors, Tikki being more pushy and impatient with my counterpart and even relishing the idea that fighting supervillains would be fun and taken advantage of every time, my counterpart still didn't have the ability to fly, Adrien's counterpart being emotionally distant even despite the benefit of not being naive, Cat Noir's only other super power was super speed, my counterpart being mistaken for a watermelon, Hawk Moth in the movie frequently Akumatizing criminals, the rules of Akumatization were altered to the point where Hawk Moth benefitted greatly for himself by Akumatizing criminals every time he senses negative emotions, Tikki and Plagg having animal forms and no human forms, the rules of wearing Miraculouses and transforming with both Miraculouses and kwamis being changed, my counterpart not having to use her Lucky Charm and Miraculous Ladybug to fix every amount of damage in every Akumatized villain fight, the rules of using the Butterfly Miraculous as a superhero were never explained whatsoever, Adrien didn't have a job with Gabriel's company or even a bodyguard despite the benefit of the fact that Adrien in the movie could easily say his Reason You Suck speech to Gabriel's face days before the final battle despite potentially being a Sentimosnter like in the show, no other Miraculous users were shown in the movie whatsoever, Chloe was still a bully even despite the '"temporary truce"' during the Winter Ball and the lull after Gabriel was arrested, Emilie Agreste being a theater actress rather than a movie actress like in the show, Emilie dying when Adrien was a kid, Adrien's nature of a humanoid Sentimonster was never revealed whatsoever, my counterpart and Adrien's counterpart encountered the same problems with the identity rule and the love square before the ending of the final battle, although I'm glad that those rules were thrown out the window during the Winter Ball, and most of all, Nathalie planned to avenge her boss and take over where he left off regardless of whether or not the original movie alluded to the Peacock Miraculous being damaged.

Hhhaaa. Nevertheless, the movies directed by Jeremy Zag are so much f(bleep!) better than the cartoon directed by Thomas Astruc before the final battle with Monarch had him stepping down as director and being replaced by Chloe Paye from season 6 onwards. But at the same time, because it's been so long since the second and third movies were released back on my Earth, and because my memories of the Movieverse Continuity timeline had been altered in accordance with the cartoon timeline as I'm living life as Marinette in this moment in the Marinette's Double Life webisode from Miraculous Secrets, it's gonna be maybe 5, 6 years before my memories of the second and third movies are changed back to normal. Can't say I'll miss those memories if some of them are bad memories that somewhat outweigh the good ones, but, sometimes it's much better to remember specific bad things from real life and fiction rather than forgetting about them naturally or artificially."

The doorbell rings.

Marinette finishes her journal, "Ah, Mom and Dad are back home. I'm so gonna tell them about Ms. Bustier's praise for me completing today's test at 100%. Boy, am I glad to have parents like them while in the know about my identities and origins, nothing against my past ones. Marinette's journal entry ending. Bye for now, journal. Wish me well. Signing off."

The End.

(Author's notes: There you have it, folks. And see you all in chapter 30: Guitar Hero vs. Guitar Villain.)
