Isekai'd as the new French Miraculous Superhero Team.

Chapter 40: Deflector vs. Reflekta.

(Quantic Universe Earth 19274729568301958374, Paris, France, January 29th, 2016, third person POV...)

In the Francoise Dupont courtyard, Adrien Agreste's photographer Vincent sets up his camera and says, "Alright, everybody, look at the camera. Hahahaha, they're pristine! Now, say spaghetti!"

Ms. Mendeleiev's class replies in unison, "Spaghetti!" "Spaghetti!" "Spaghetti!" "Spaghetti!" "Spaghetti!" "Spaghetti!" "Spaghetti!" "Spaghetti!" "Spaghetti!" "Spaghetti!" "Spaghetti!" "Spaghetti!" "Spaghetti!" "Spaghetti!" "Spaghetti!" "Spaghetti!" "Spaghetti!" "Spaghetti!" "Spaghetti!" "Spaghetti!" "Spaghetti!" "Spaghetti!" "Spaghetti!" "Spaghetti!" "Spaghetti!" "Spaghetti!"

Vincent's camera takes a picture of Ms. Mendeleiev's class.

Off to the side, Chloe growls ferociously, scowling at Vincent like if he was the ultimate bane of her life.

Adrien notices this and asks in concern, "Chloe, what's got your hair in a beehive?"

Chloe whirls around and Adrien steps back warily at the sight of Chloe's half flat and half razor sharp teeth showing as she scowls.

Chloe demands coldly, "Why does your photographer want people to say spaghetti when taking school pictures, and why does he compare metaphors for photoshoots to spaghetti? Why?"

Adrien flinches as he answers, "I'd... rather not ask him."

Chloe snarls, "F(bleep!) you, coward."

Chloe marches away as Adrien and Nino gape at Chloe saying the queen mother of swear words in reference to Adrien choosing not to do something as brave as asking Vincent why he's obsessed with spaghetti, aside from what could possibly be the obvious that he grew up in Italy and thus became an obsessive lover of Italian food on a healthy diet, the part about Adrien being that he fears Vincent will tell his father about it in the next job performance review.

Adrien looks at Nino, and Nino shrugs, having started becoming used to Chloe's outbursts and potty mouth.

Marinette says to Alya, "Yeah, I'm gonna be honest; Vincent is quite the case, but even he doesn't deserve to be hated on just because of his obsessive love for Italian food references."

Alya replies before asking, "Right, because even outside of food references, Vincent is a patriot in his own right. Um, would it be acceptable for an Italian food night tomorrow night?"

Marinette snorts before answering, "I'd have to ask my parents first, and so would you."

Alya replies back, "Good point."

Marinette then goes to Chloe, who hugs her upon making eye contact with each other.

Marinette then says, "Chloe, just because Vincent is obsessed with referencing Italian food doesn't mean you should be hating on him."

Chloe sneers as she replies, "I liked you better when you voiced your problems."

Marinette says as Tillyan gives the signal, "Look, just because we have the freedom to speak our minds about the problems of the original timeline doesn't mean we should take it out on anyone and everyone who acts like their canon counterparts."

Because Marinette gave herself the power of a persuasive voice, Chloe sighs as she replies back, "Okay, you got a good point."

Marinette and Chloe then go back to Alya, Adrien, and Nino, and Nino asks, "Everything good, girls?"

Marinette nods while giving a thumbs up gesture.

Marinette's attention is drawn to Juleka as she says to Rose while speaking a bit loud enough for Rose and anyone approaching to hear, "At least Chloe was there for me in making sure that I was in the photos over the years. I can't thank her enough for it."

Rose replies, "Yes, and I also can't thank Ladybug enough for curing my illness, Jules."

Marinette comes up and asks politely, "Rose, Juleka, forgive me for asking potentially sensitive questions, but are you actually discussing how much you're thankful for Chloe and Ladybug helping you in two different ways?"

Juleka answers, "Yes. Ever since I was little, every time someone takes a picture of me, Chloe and/or someone else was always there to make sure nothing happened that could obscure my face or my entire body from the flash of the lens."

In a flashback, a picture of Ms. Bustier's class in the past two years before Hawk Moth and the French Miraculous Superhero Team debuted showed Max giving Juleka enough space for Juleka to have her face shown in the picture. Another picture is shown with a pigeon perching behind Juleka without blocking anything important. And a third picture shows Juleka being featured completely.

As the flashback ends, Rose says, "Yes, I'm telling you, Juleka, everything always worked out in the end. And this time, it'll work out in the end again. I can feel it, right here! (She places her left hand over her heart for added emphasis)"

Marinette then asks, "And what about you, Rose?"

Rose freezes up, but upon seeing Juleka's encouraging expression, she says, "When I was a little girl, I wound up becoming really sick with a rare illness that can come back at any time annually."

Marinette keeps her features stoic even as Rose says further, "I only told Juleka about this illness because if everyone in the school found out, they'd end up treating me differently, in the sense that they'd be treating me like I'm gonna break like old glass someday. That's the reason why for years, I've always tried to stay positive and encourage people to be positive, because if people are positive and happy, it makes me positive and happy, too."

Marinette nods in understanding, knowing exactly what had happened in the original season 4 timeline when Rose's illness was revealed.

Juleka then notices Marinette looking formal and decides to ask, "Um, Marinette, why are you looking formal?"

Marinette answers, "Because I didn't want to wear any of my signature daily outfits, as I don't really have any Picture Day outfits. And besides, I always try to look my best for Picture Day."

Juleka nods in understanding.

Vincent then says to Ms. Mendeleiev's class, "Thank you, kids, you've been wonderful."

Vincent straightens everything for Ms. Bustier's class.

After he finishes, Vincent says, "Okay, time to flash your pearly whites, everyone. (Gesturing to Max, Alix, Rose, Marinette, and Mylene) You kids, please take a seat in the front bench. And let's make sure we do this quickly; I have sixteen other classes to photograph, and I'm on a schedule."

Everyone sits on the bench.

Adrien says to Nino, "Your new album is looking good."

Nino nods as the other students whisper.

Chloe then says, "Okay, Sabrina, everything is in place, right? (Sabrina: Uh-huh.) Good to hear. Be sure to breath, be sure to smile, and be sure to look at the lens long enough for the picture to be taken, then deal with the flashing light after-effects in your eyes."

Sabrina nods.

Chloe flashes a thumbs up to Marinette and she flashes a thumbs up in response.

Vincent then says, "Now then, for the next row... Hmmm... (Gesturing to Nathanael, Alya, Sabrina, and Chloe) You, you, you, and you, go stand on the rear bench, please."

The foursome goes to the rear bench.

After arranging the others in areas where they could be seen, including Juleka, Vincent states, "All right, guys, look into the lens and flash your best smiles. Now, say spaghetti!"

Some of the students say spaghetti, but others like Marinette and Chloe choose not to say anything, their strained smiles remaining unnoticed as the camera flashes.

As the class looks at the picture, Rose remarks, "You looked wonderful, Juleka!"

Juleka then says, "You were right, Marinette; I really do have guardian angels watching over me, and they're not just someone like Chloe."

Juleka hugs Marinette, much to everyone's surprise, and Marinette hugs her friend back.

Just then, someone takes a photo of the twosome in their embrace, and everyone looks to see Alcee Abbaddie showing her friends the photo, but modified so that Juleka is invisible.

Marinette growls as she hoists Alcee off the ground and takes back the photo, but completely unaware of Juleka sneaking off to a bench in the Place des Vosges.

In Hawk Moth's lair, the window opens.

Hawk Moth remarks, "Poor girl, feeling so lonely, ignored, and humiliated. Even I have an inkling of an idea about how terrible it must feel to believe that you don't even exist and it must feel terrible to know that some people will make fun of you for showing emotions around others when you've been closed off for some time. Come here, my little friend."

Hawk Moth turns a butterfly into an Akuma, and then sends it off while saying, "Fly, my vile Akuma, and give this transparent soul a voice and a color vision!"

The Akuma flies to the Place des Vosges.

The Akuma flies into Juleka's wrist mirror.

Hawk Moth remarks, "Reflekta, I am Hawk Moth. From now on, you will be the only one people sees and you will be the only one photographs people showing emotion. No one will ever ignore you again! And no one will ever humiliate you for showing love for your friends! However, you must do me a favor in exchange, when the time is right."

Juleka/Reflekta replies darkly, "Yes, Hawk Moth."

Juleka turns into Reflekta, and she giggles evilly.

Just then, Deflector knocks out Reflekta with a frying pan, breaks the wrist mirror, purifies the Akuma, and repairs the mirror.

Reflekta is turned back into Juleka.

In Hawk Moth's lair, Hawk Moth snarls, "You may have pulled it off this time with Purple Streak's help, Ladybug, but everything is not as it appears to be! Watch out, Ladybug, for I will destroy you when you least expect it!"

The window to Hawk Moth's lair closes.

In Marinette's bedroom, Marinette says while crossing Reflekta's name off her list of Akumatized villains, "That is Reflekta cut-and-dried. Next is Sabrina as Vanisher, in the chronological Antibug episode that features both Sabrina and Chloe Akumatized into Vanisher and Antibug for the first time. Ough, I wonder what will be the cause of Sabrina getting Akumatized into Vanisher."

Tikki suggests, "Maybe it could be because Sabrina is in love with Chloe, in the lesbian romantical sense?"

Marinette replies, "Considering the fact that it happened in another Miraculous Ladybug universe, the chances of that scenario happening here in your reality are 100 to 100."

Tikki nods in response.

Marinette starts working on her homework, eager to see Ms. Bustier's reaction to seeing Marinette's homework completed at 100% according to detail once again, for the one thousand, one hundred and twenty-fourth time in a row.

The End.

(Author's notes: Yes, the fight against Reflekta never happened because, well, Marinette in this reality had Deflector to help deal with Reflekta ASAP.

See you all in chapter 41: Vanisher vs. Materializer.)
