Isekai'd as the new French Miraculous Superhero Team.

Chapter 45: Volpina vs. Clairvoyance.

(Quantic Universe Earth 19274729568301958374, Paris, France, February 18th, 2015, third person POV...)

In the Agreste Mansion, Adrien is walking down the stairs, having been given the signal to prepare for the Volpina and Collector double-team incidents, for the day when Lila Rossi aka Cerise, Iris Verdi, Volpina, Chameleon, Hoaxer, and Hawk Moth II showed up and the day when Adrien will meet Master Fu has come. And Adrien remembers that at the same time that the Volpina and Collector double-team incidents have come today, the day to start collecting more evidence of Gabriel Agreste being Hawk Moth has also come.

Adrien stops in the middle of the stairs to mentally say, "Well, I guess this is it. Collecting more evidence of my father being Hawk Moth and more evidence of the fact that he can easily Akumatize himself into either The Collector or Nightormentor or someone else entirely. Can't say I'm looking forward to it, but I have no choice. If Dad won't stop obsessing over reviving Mom, then I really will have no choice but to disavow him from our family. If I ever get that right while getting his wedding rings, that is."

Adrien looks at the camera in the foyer, giving a mental command to stop recording everything it sees for the next 30 minutes at the signal of his fingers in the sign for two forty-five, and through his telepathic and technological link to the camera in Gabriel's atelier, he gives the same command.

Adrien hides behind a pillar and gives the signal to the two cameras as he hears his father ask on the phone while also spying on him with his night vision, "Yes, I'm busy. I was right in the middle of something very important. What do you want?"

The employee replies to Gabriel that the sample garment doesn't match with the pattern.

Gabriel demands, "What?! This is unacceptable! (Slamming his fist on the open Miraculous grimoire) The sample garment doesn't match with what I told you at all! All you had to do was to simply follow a pattern, you idiots! (Takes the grimoire to the Emilie Agreste painting) What am I supposed to do about it? The show is in three days! (Puts the grimoire in his safe before closing the painting) No, don't use him; he's completely useless. (Walks outside of his atelier) Call my assistant, Nathalie. She'll give you some other names."

Gabriel hangs up before walking away.

Still given the time window and thankful his security access supersedes Nathalie's security access and his father's own security access, Adrien waits for Gabriel to vanish from sight as he says in a whisper, "(Softly) See, Plagg? I told you he hides secrets behind his painting of my mom."

Plagg says back in a whisper, "(Softly) Ooh, I love dirty secrets."

Adrien and Plagg sneak into the atelier.

After opening the painting to reveal the safe and noticing a DNA scanner next to the combination buttons, Adrien remarks, "Wow. Just when I thought his paranoia was as chronological as Marinette described."

Adrien uses a makeup kit to imitate Gabriel's DNA scans after entering the combination which happens to be Gabriel and Emilie's wedding day back in 1992, and with Plagg's help, Adrien quickly pockets the Peacock Miraculous and the grimoire into his pocket dimensional space before using his movie verse super speed – courtesy of Marinette – to easily and quickly take pictures and other kinds of physical evidence of Gabriel Agreste's remaining secrets, including his backstory and birth name.

Adrien remarks, "Hah. We got the Peacock Miraculous, we got the grimoire, and we got lots of evidence of Gabriel's backstory, crimes, and origins, especially including how his parents ran and owned a French fry restaurant and that he has been lying to everyone about his family heritage and his real name."

Plagg then remarks before he says as he examines the back of the Peacock Miraculous, "Yep, we sure did, Adrien. Oh, my. The Peacock Miraculous is cracked on the back."

Adrien looks at it and he replies, "Yes, I can see that. According to Marinette, the Peacock Miraculous was overexposed to molten lava from a lava stream that Master Fu's Sentimonster fell into when he jumped a large ravine overlooking the lava stream when he ran away from it to protect the Chinese Zodiac Miracle Box after accidentally manifesting the Sentimonster in the first place and after accidentally and unknowingly setting it against the other Miracle Boxes in the Guardian temple and against the members of the Order of the Guardians when he finally had enough of his archaic Guardian training. Apparently, my mom didn't notice at first that the Peacock Miraculous was damaged until she started experiencing fatigue and coughing fits immediately after using its power to give birth to me as a growing fetus in her womb just because she was born infertile. And apparently, this is what Chloe and Marinette meant when they said that because my mom chose to use the Peacock Miraculous only once, she had fifteen years left to live and left to raise me until she died."

Thankful that Adrien had frozen time outside of the atelier for this discussion to be had for a longer period of time, Plagg says, "Yeah, I'm not gonna lie, kid; the fact that my newest owner is a Sentimonster was truly unexpected, especially since we know how your father can control you through his wedding ring and can easily undo your existence by revoking your Amok if he ever wanted to do it despite knowing the dangers of using a damaged Miraculous jewel. And also since we know that Sentimonsters can easily be Akumatized and that your father literally Akumatized you in two alternative timelines into different supervillains that brought about the end of the world."

Adrien replies, "Anyway, after we deal with Iris Verdi, we gotta make sure we rendezvous with Marinette and go to see Master Fu so he can get the book and the Peacock Miraculous back, and so we can put our heads together to decide what plans we will need to make in the months leading up to Heroes' Day before we make the final efforts to apprehend my father, Nathalie, and Iris once and for all."

Plagg then says, "Okay. Come on, kid, let's put everything else back exactly as we found it and let's get to school for your fencing class."

With Plagg's help, Adrien manages to put everything else back exactly where it was without slipping up, as well as closing the safe and the painting, while simultaneously using their shared destruction magic to easily erase any other forms of evidence of the Miraculous Heist, including backup footage from any additional cameras or from secret security measures in any of the cameras and fingerprints. Then Adrien unfreezes time, and the time flow goes back to normal after a split-second.

Adrien goes outside and Nathalie asks, "Where have you been, Adrien? You're going to be late."

Adrien answers flawlessly, "I was looking for my homework, but then I remembered it was in my bag. At least I managed to remember this time."

Nathalie nods in sharp understanding before she, Adrien, and Placide get in the car.

Meanwhile, at Francoise Dupont, as Sabrina, Chloe, Marinette, and Alya walked up the entrance steps to the school basketball/fencing courtyard, they heard the mutterings.

Rose remarks, "Can you believe Lila knows Prince Ali? She even flew in his private jet with him!"

Another girl then asks her friend, "Why would Jagged Stone write a song about a potential 14 year old girl? Doesn't she even know about the kind of legal trouble they could both get themselves in?"

Nino says to Max and Kim, "Lila knows all the Hollywood directors. She even promised me she'd introduce me to Steven Basielberg himself!"

Marinette, Chloe, Alya, and Sabrina mentally snarl in unison, "It's Steven Spielberg even in this universe, dummy!" "It's Steven Spielberg even in this universe, dummy!" "It's Steven Spielberg even in our universe, dummy!" "It's Steven Spielberg, dummy!"

After blocking out the class vocalizing about Lila Rossi's lies, Marinette and her Girl Squad huddle together a few feet away from Rose and Juleka and hidden from view by any more people.

Thankful that Sabrina doesn't know about hers and Chloe's true origins whatsoever, Marinette says in a whisper before asking Alya, "(Softly) Okay, we have official confirmation that Lila Rossi aka Cerise, Iris Verdi, Volpina, Chameleon, Hoaxer, and Hawk Moth II has just arrived. Alya, you posted Lila's lies while explaining them onto the French Miraculous Superhero Blog via her interview, right?"

Alya nods, smirking evilly.

Marinette then says in a whisper, "(Softly) Okay, make sure that her mother knows about her daughter's lies the instant she gets Akumatized into Volpina. Sabrina, please take notes about everything Lila claims to have done. We must avoid having to stay homeschooled for a set amount of time because of the school getting a lawsuit due to Ms. Bustier, Mr. Damocles, and some other staff members being incompetent resulting in, among other things, the school getting shut down and every good and bad teacher getting fired without thorough purging or investigation as a result, and we have to make sure that all of our classmates and the rest of the school student count doesn't sacrifice their futures on a self-centered highly compulsive sociopathic liar who wants to be famous, rich, and so forth while making sure that her lies and her crimes remain undiscovered by any means necessary."

Sabrina replies in a whisper, "(Softly) I'm already half-way through. I got her files from Mr. Damocles last night, and if we add all of her tall tales and Ladybug's forewarning about Iris potentially signing up with Hawk Moth to kill Ladybug and force Adrien to date and marry her, this can easily make the biggest bully to terrorist collaborator case of the 21st century."

Chloe remarks before asking, "(Softly) Good to hear. Alya, did you remember to get Lila to sign those forms for permission about any and all recordings at school?"

Alya replies in an evil whisper, "(Softly) Ooh, yes, and she didn't even bat an eyelash at that."

Marinette cackles briefly in a whisper before warning, "(Softly) Mwa ha ha ha ha ha. Wonderful. That's gonna make our jobs and our hobbies easier. Stay on your toes, girls, and make sure that Iris doesn't suspect anything while we take her lies with a shovelful of salt; if she suspects that we're on to her, she can try to smear our reputations by telling outlandish lies about us and most of our class along with Ms. Bustier, Mr. Damocles, and some of the other incompetent educators might end up believing her over us despite the evidence we would try to provide discreetly. And if this kind of lying reaches our parents, we're screwed."

Chloe, Sabrina, and Alya nodded in response.

As the four girls head into the school courtyard, they instantly spotted Lila making Adrien uncomfortable, but before he could even scream "Stranger Danger," Lila guides him by his left hand to the library.

Marinette snarls, "If she thinks that she's in love with Adrien genuinely, she's got another thing coming for her future trial. No matter what she believes regardless of whether or not she's smart or delusional, or even if it's a little of both, she's got a lot to learn about how the real world works, if she wasn't so lazy to learn about it."

Alya then says, "You might wanna cool it, Marinette; I get that Lila is a horrendous basket case, but you're not gonna be able to deal with it properly with a hot head."

Marinette takes a deep calming breath before saying, "Thanks, Alya, I needed that reminder."

Alya then says, "Anyway, I'll see you or your clone in class, girl. Take care."

Alya hugs Marinette and kisses her on the cheek before walking away.

Chloe then says, "Sabrina, please get going to class; if anyone asks, I had something important to take care of, and make sure you're as vague as possible."

Sabrina replies, "Of course, Chloe."

As Sabrina leaves, Tikki whispers, "(Softly) Marinette, aside from your issues with this Iris Verdi, you wouldn't happen to be jealous of her worming her way into Adrien's pants, would you?"

Marinette whispers back truthfully, "(Softly) No, Tikki. If I was to be jealous, I'd risk committing one of the Seven Deadly Sins of Man: Envy. And besides, whether Iris likes it or not, Adrien is a human being who deserves to choose which girl or even which boy he wants to date."

After Sabrina leaves, Marinette and Chloe sneak into the library and use their shared invisibility and innate stealth abilities to hide themselves in the bookshelves right where Lila and Adrien are seated. Then the two girls use their cell phones to record the conversation between Lila and Adrien from two different directions and angles.

Adrien takes out his history textbook and sets it on the library table.

As Lila still has her back turned, Adrien takes out the grimoire and hides it under one of the other books.

Tikki whispers, "(Softly) Marinette, Adrien's book! I need to get a closer look at it."

Marinette replies, "(Softly) Out of the question; Lila can easily feel you if you don't stay away from human reach and if you don't stay invisible."

Tikki nods before flying to a bookcase right next to Adrien.

Marinette silently groans before saying mentally to herself, "If there's one thing I share in common with Gabi and Knightowl, it's that I hate it when my allies disobey my orders!"

Tikki mentally replies sharply, "Sorry, Marinette, but this is way too important to ignore!"

Lila remarks, "Now, we can finally get started on our history homework. It's so much more fun doing it together, don't you think?"

Adrien replies fakely, not that Lila would notice, "Yep."

Lila notices nothing out of the ordinary, so she decides to ask, "I don't mean to ask, but are superheroes real?"

Adrien answers, "Well... for a time, superheroes only existed in the United States ever since the Wild West in the 1880s, but now, in Paris, we're protected by an army of superheroes called the French Miraculous Superhero Team."

Lila places her right hand on top of Adrien's right hand and says seductively, "I love superheroes!"

Even though she's invisible, Marinette still mouths to the camera like she was speaking on mute, "Yeah, right, like Chloe, Sabrina, Alya, my parents, my other relatives, Adrien and I are gonna believe that bulls(bleep!)"

Lila notices what appears to be the "grimoire," she grabs it from under the other book he was using to "hide" it, and she asks, "What's this?"

Adrien answers, "Oh, it's a book about ancient superheroes. Apparently, superheroes existed for five thousand years before the turn of the 21st century and before the first Knightowl and Sparrow emerged in the 1880s in New York City."

Lila remarks seductively, "Like I said, I love superheroes."

Adrien mentally remarks, "Heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh. Yeah, right. Like I'm going to believe that big lie. It's common knowledge to the people outside of our multiverse that you hate superheroes just like my father, aka Hawk Moth, The Collector, Scarlet Moth, Shadow Moth, Shadow Noir, Monarch, Monarchbug, and Nightormentor, and he happens to hate superheroes regardless of whether it's real ones like the team or the United Heroez, or even if it's a famous comic book, comic book-inspired movie, comic book-inspired cartoon, comic book-inspired video game, and comic book-inspired toy version of a superhero. All the same, I do hear alarm bells metaphorically ringing in my head right now, especially since I now know what you are, what your future is, and what dark times are in store for if you manage to find out our identities, my father's identity, what the Butterfly Miraculous does, what my Miraculous and Marinette's Miraculous does when conjointly used, and so forth on things you weren't supposed to know if you were the opposite of what you traditionally are. Eh, I guess that just like how sometimes, some superheroes are both born and trained, sometimes, some supervillains can be both born and trained, in some cases and in more ways than one."

Tikki watches Lila as she flips through the pages of the book before stumbling upon the one about an ancient Ladybug Miraculous user.

Lila notices the trademark picture of an ancient Ladybug Miraculous user and she remarks, "Is that Ladybug?"

Adrien answers, "Oh, no, it's one of her ancient predecessors. But all the same, the present day Ladybug, she's amazing. Everyone loves her."

After making sure that Adrien looked away for a few seconds to give him an ugly look, Lila maintains her poker face as she looks closer at Ladybug's picture in the present day before she remarks, "Anyway, a girl doesn't need to wear a costume or a suit of armor in her case to be amazing, you know."

She scoots her seat closer to Adrien.

Adrien then says, "Well, not every superhero needs to wear spandex, Kevlar, Nomex, or leather to be amazing in their own ways either."

Lila asks teasingly, "So, you've got a little soft spot for the bug, huh?"

Adrien answers, "Actually, no, I don't. We may have interacted during the Simon Says incident – which you weren't there for, I might add with humility – but the circumstances required it. Besides, anyone who tries to befriend superheroes like Ladybug will inevitably paint targets on their backs, or as I've been told, they might become targets of supervillains and criminals of various kinds that are still around today."

Lila says, "I see. You know, I actually happen to be very close friends with Ladybug."

Adrien narrows his eyes in suspicion as he asks, "Oh, really?"

Lila answers, "Oh, yes. We can talk about it if you want to. But not here, though; can't have anyone else finding out about such private information. Why don't we meet at the park after school, and I'll tell you all about it?"

Adrien replies, "Very well. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but I warn you, I'm not naïve."

Lila slightly nods her head in response.

Adrien's phone dings to let out an alert.

Adrien then says, "Okay, we'll meet up at the park after school, but for now, I've got a fencing lesson in 2 minutes. And my father, he's notorious for making sure that anyone I interact with knows about any boundaries he has for me. If he thinks for even an instant that you're not who you appear to be, he'll have his lawyers come down on you hard faster than you can muster an apology."

Lila's eyes widened as she replies, "Okay, got it."

Adrien runs out of the school.

But unbeknownst to Lila, Adrien used invisible teleportation, sleight of hand, and memory manipulation to get her to find a fake replica of the Miraculous spellbook in his bag.

Lila picks up the fake book and looks through the pages before stumbling upon an illustration of a superhero using the Fox Miraculous.

Lila remarks, "A vixen superheroine? Hmm. Interesting... Light bulb!"

Lila leaves the library.

As soon as the doors closed, Marinette and Chloe decloaked before cackling lowly while rubbing their hands together maniacally, "(Softly) Mwa hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha." "(Softly) Mwa hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha."

Tikki then says, "Marinette!"

Marinette replies, "I know, Tikki; what you saw was apparently the spellbook grimoire about the Chinese Zodiac Miraculouses, but it was actually a fake replica Adrien and I made to lure Lila astray while we wait for the right time to give the real one and the Peacock Miraculous to Master Fu."

Tikki demands, "Why didn't you tell me?!"

Marinette replies sternly, "First off, you would've tried to steal it yourself despite knowing that with and without your powers which includes invisibility and being able to phase through solid objects, you still would've been spotted either by Lila or by someone on the streets or here in the library in all likelihood. And second, if I ever tried to advise you to stay on the sidelines and let me and Chloe handle things, you would've refused to listen, just like a few seconds ago when you flew to that bookcase next to Adrien's seat to look at the fake spellbook, for example. And if there's one thing I refuse to tolerate among other things, it's when people and allies like you disobey my orders."

Tikki replies back, "I'm sorry, but we have to find Adrien and get the spellbook and the Peacock Miraculous to Master Fu."

Marinette replies back as well, "After we deal with Lila and her first Akumatization into Volpina, we'll do just that."

Marinette then uses her metamorphing ability to impersonate one of the background generic characters with no names wearing a hooded trench coat along with a Rorschach-inspired costume without the mask and along with making her face resemble an undercover female police detective to look inconspicuous before exiting the school, leaving one of her clones to deal with the school.

Later, in the streets of Paris, Marinette is incognito as she's watching a clip of Lila on the French Miraculous Superhero Blog.

Lila remarks, "Hahahaha, Ladybug and me? We're like this. (She crosses her fingers on both hands together.)"

Marinette remarks with her voice disguised to resemble the Jackson McIntyre iteration of Aquaman, "Now that's some bulls(bleep!). And seriously, doesn't she know that crossed fingers indicate a lie being told? Ugh."

Tikki points, "There! She's coming out!"

Marinette spots Lila exiting a jewelry store, holding the Gabriel Brand replica of the Fox Miraculous in a jewelry box.

Marinette chuckles as she remarks, "Hehehehehehehe. She thinks she's so clever despite the fact that anyone with brain cells can easily pick out holes in her stories, and despite her slightly average intellect and her experience in creating lies? Puh-lease."

Marinette conceals herself as she follows Lila, while quietly humming the Thundermans spy music.

Marinette hides behind several cars as she follows Lila quietly without being spotted or heard by anyone other than Lila and without being spotted or heard by Lila.

Meanwhile, at the Place des Vosges, Marinette is transformed into an invisible Ladybug as she hides behind one of the trees behind the park bench where Lila is.

Ladybug telepathically asks Tikki, "Can you hear everything I'm hearing right now, Tikki?"

Tikki answers telepathically, "Yes, I can hear everything."

Lila takes out of the jewelry box the fox tail pendant necklace before she puts it on.

Then she pulls out the fake book, but she quickly hides it when she sees Adrien approaching.

Lila remarks, "Oh, hi!"

Ladybug snickers quietly, "(Softly) Pfft, this was too easy."

Adrien replies, "Hey there!"

Lila discreetly and quickly throws the fake book into the garbage can behind her.

Lila rushes up to Adrien and pulls him to the bench before sitting down.

Ladybug quietly snarls, "(Softly) If this was the Uncertain Future fanfiction story, I'd have made sure to kill you today, but seeing as how that kind of choice would result in someone else taking your place as the future Hawk Moth, even if it doesn't happen, I'll be sure to give you the most brutal beating on Heroes' Day instead."

Adrien questions to play along with the script somewhat, "So, you do know Ladybug? For real?"

Lila answers, "Not only did Ladybug save my life from a menacing Akumatized villain, but we've also become close friends because we have something in common that none other does. It's what I wanted to tell you all about. I'm the descendant of a family line of vixen superheroines sharing the name of Volpina."

Adrien inquires in pretend confusion, "Volpina?"

Ladybug mentally scoffs, "Pfft! Yeah, right. That's the name of her first Akumatized form before and after she decided to start working for Hawk Moth starting on Heroes' Day."

Adrien remarks, "Wait a minute. I think you got a fox confused for a vixen."

Lila asks in confusion, "Um, what do you mean?"

Adrien answers, "Well, based on some sources that we have in the alliance between the police and the French Miraculous Superhero Team, a vixen is technically a superhero name for a fox-themed superhero and any animal-themed superhero who can access the powers and abilities of various real life animals regardless of whether or not they're extinct. In addition to that, the fox tail necklace you're wearing, it looks like something Ladybug says is called the Fox Miraculous, not the Vixen Miraculous. And also, the difference between a vixen and a fox is that males have enlarged, easily observed testes during the winter breeding season, and the females that are called vixens have no genital sheath, as they are less conspicuous and often hidden by their fur."

Lila cringes a bit as she replies, "Oh. Sorry about the confusions."

Adrien states, "And as a matter of fact, there happens to be some kind of fox tail necklace in my book."

Adrien is about to open his bag, but Lila stops him as she says, "Of course she's in your book. She's one of the most important superheroes in the world. More powerful and more celebrated than Ladybug. (Adrien raises an eyebrow while Ladybug growls softly) And between you and me, Ladybug doesn't even make the top ten."

Ladybug silently takes to the air and roars like the Batman & Robin movie version of Bane on Venom, attracting Lila and Adrien's attention.

Lila questions in fear, "Was that, Bane?!"

Adrien answers, "I-I don't know!"

In the air, Ladybug silently cackles before silently flying over to the rooftop across the street from her parents' bakery.

Lila is then about to say something but Adrien beats her to the punch by asking, "And by the way, if you said that you and Ladybug are best friends, why are you salting on her by saying that she doesn't even rank in the top ten superheroes in the world that exist and by saying that Volpina is much more powerful than the current Ladybug?"

Ladybug decloaks in that instant and flies over to the park, the buzzing of her wings giving her away.

Lila, Adrien, and a few passersby look up to see Ladybug hovering over the park before she descends in front of Lila and Adrien.

Ladybug stays hovering in the air, her wings buzzing to keep her afloat.

Lila looks incredibly nervous, if only for the fact that she's seeing the real Ladybug in person for the first time and she didn't anticipate that Ladybug would actually have the ability to fly.

Ladybug says as she asks, "Hello there. You must be Lila Rossi, right?"

Lila answers nervously, "Y-yes, yes, I am Lila Rossi."

Ladybug then says gently, "I saw your interview on the French Miraculous Superhero Blog, and I have to say that I'm a teensy bit concerned."

Lila questions nervously, "W-why are you concerned?"

Ladybug answers gently, "Because you said that you were my closest friend. If you had done your research, you'd have known that Cat Noir is my closest friend and is my boyfriend. In addition to that, saying on any form of news outlets that you're a superhero's friend can easily make you a target of any superhero's enemies in terms of criminals and supervillains. Such as, for example, saying that you're my friend means that Hawk Moth will likely try to kidnap you for ransom to get me to surrender my Ladybug Miraculous. This is especially because Hawk Moth monitors the French Miraculous Superhero Blog very closely to discern any potential weakness in our team to exploit for his own team, however small his team of supervillains is."

Lila starts crying fake tears, but Ladybug wasn't finished as she says, "But in all seriousness, Lila, it's understandable if you're in a new school and country environment and you're worried about being the social outcast. I can understand wanting to fit in to your new environment among your peers. But telling tall tales, especially on a type of this magnitude, can instantly cause emotional and mental harm, and it can also instantly cause trust issues, strife, broken friendships, broken relationships, and so forth to signify how harmful lying really is."

Lila cries out, "How could you do this?! How could you just stick your nose in my business?!"

Ladybug deploys her Wolverine claws sharply, making Lila gulp.

Ladybug snarls, "I've tried to be the gentle mother with you, but your inability to feel others' emotions, your sociopathy, your lack of regret, your sarcasm, and your inability to let go of grudges or take lectures like a grown woman will only serve to get you on my wrathful bad side!"

Ladybug heats up her claws, and they start glowing orange.

Lila shrieks as she starts backing away in fear.

Ladybug then pounces while retracting her Wolverine claws, and she proceeds to tickle Lila's sides, making her shriek in hysterical laughter.

Lila shrieks, "EEP! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! LADYBUG! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, STAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAP! THAT TICKLES!"

Everyone who was in the park from the start was recording everything, right down to the last detail from beginning to end.

Ladybug then helps up Lila and, using her Script Manipulation, her Superior Decisiveness, her Chaos to Order conversion, her Good Desire Attraction, her Supernatural Fabrication, her ability to be ultra-correct in anything and everything, her ability to improve anything, her ability to elevate others' feelings of feeling special, beautiful, powerful, etc., her ability to instantaneously know how any one person or multiple people are feeling, her ability to amplify and decrease emotions for the convenience of preventing Akumatizations from happening, her ability to charm people for good things that superheroes and other kinds of good people should need or want without becoming villains, her power of a contagious smile, her ability to reveal truths that others can't see, her ability to see possibilities, her ability to easily make people feel warm, loved, and cared for, her ability to be extremely calculative, her power of remaining steadfast, and her goodness inducement powers, gets Lila to hug her, making everyone film the scene or take pictures.

Eventually, Ladybug and Lila broke their hug before Lila packed her stuff to leave.

Lila then says, "Thank you for this, um, experience, Ladybug. And I'm sorry for the trouble I could've caused. I'll be sure to be careful of what I say from now on."

Ladybug looks at Lila's form walking away, looking concerned.

Adrien whispers, "(Softly) Am I guessing that she was lying just now, and that regardless of your powers, she's still going to get Akumatized and work her way to start working for my father on Heroes' Day?"

Ladybug answers in a whisper, "(Softly) Honestly, I wouldn't even be surprised if any of that was in fact the case. Guess there's just some things in a part of the multiverse that you can't just rewrite, no matter if it's the script of a cartoon, movie, video game, or comic book reality you were transported into by either reincarnation or by multiverse and omniverse travel."

A male civilian then comes up and asks, "Ladybug, do you think that girl will be alright?"

Ladybug answers, "I sure hope so, sir. Because if Lila Rossi gets Akumatized, then it'll only prove that I was right about a theory or two that I had about her."

Ladybug then says into her earpiece, "Purple Streak, the time is now."

In the subway base, Purple Streak stands in her observatory and she says while making a Tenshi, "Okay, what we need against an illusionist is none other than a person who is clairvoyant. Fly away, my heroic little one, and Tenshize Sheyla Rabottino immediately."

The Tenshi flies to the vicinity where Sheyla is.

Meanwhile, in the streets of Paris, Lila stops running in front of a Ladybug poster, rubbing her feet from being sore by walking around in high heels all day.

As she puts her shoes back on, Lila spies the Ladybug poster and snarls, "My chances with Adrien, all gone, like a bad dream that can't resurface! I hate you, Ladybug!"

She throws her bag at the poster before slumping to the ground in anger, thinking about how to best get her revenge.

Although Lila doesn't know that Ladybug's drones were everywhere in Paris to keep a close eye on the people of Paris until Hawk Moth and his allies are arrested, she also doesn't know that Ladybug's ability to induce goodness in people includes curing them of any mental disorders that can stir them towards the life of a criminal, including mental trauma brought on by abusive parents and schoolyard bullies, except that Ladybug already knew that this kind of superpower doesn't work on those who have already committed their minor to serious crimes such as Lila herself or Gabriel Agreste. Regardless of the chronological order of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir.

And as for Ladybug herself, as she's watching the footage from her drones, she wonders aloud before saying, "Wow. I didn't even do anything harshly and she already hates me despite what I did in the park? And she appears to be groveling on the ground in anger while thinking of different ways to kill me and take my Miraculous for herself? Well, I guess I was right; there are some things in the multiverse and the omniverse that you can't just rewrite no matter what kind of superpowers you have. And it looks like fanfiction writers from my Earth were right; Lila working for Hawk Moth in this life was only a means to an end. All the same, this doesn't bode well. I better have my drones keep a close eye on her in case she sinks any lower in the months to come before Heroes' Day."

In Hawk Moth's lair, the window opens as Hawk Moth remarks, "Ah... jealousy, deceit, and the desire to be a superhero. This young lady is my perfect prey."

Hawk Moth creates an Akuma and he says, "Fly, my evil little one, and Akumatize her!"

The Akuma flies off to find Lila.

In the streets of Paris, Lila is kneeling on the sidewalk, stewing in her anger at Ladybug for busting her lies, even if she did it gently like a responsible parent would do to their child when explaining to that child that their actions have consequences.

The Akuma merges with Lila's fox tail necklace.

Lila looks up furiously as Hawk Moth says, "Volpina, I am Hawk Moth. I'm giving you the power of illusion. So from now on, your lies will come to life. Gain the trust of the French Miraculous Superhero Team and convince them you're a real superhero, then betray them and bring me their Miraculouses."

Lila/Volpina replies darkly, "It would be my pleasure, Hawk Moth."

Lila turns into Volpina, and she plays her flute for the first time, changing the Ladybug poster into one of Volpina and Adrien before jumping away.

Meanwhile, from her perch on the rooftop overlooking the Place des Vosges, the Rossi residence, the Dupain-Cheng bakery, and Francoise Dupont High School, Ladybug snarls as she is finished given the rundown of why her powers don't work on Lila thanks to her Sapient Instructor, "So, Lila is apparently already too evil for my evil to good conversion powers among other things, and it is because she has already committed her first crimes no matter the low levels of severity, and it's also because she rather enjoys her lies and her evil habits. Rrrrrrrrrrr."

Ladybug then says into her earpiece, "Troops, prepare for the signal to do your tasks."

Ladybug gets several affirmatives that signify her orders are gonna be carried out.

Meanwhile, at the Louvre Square, civilians panic as they see a meteor hurtling downwards toward the city.

After seeing the meteor and realizing it's one of Volpina's first illusions, Adrien hides in an alley and whispers, "(Softly) Plagg, Claws Out!"

Adrien transforms into Cat Noir.

Meanwhile, on one of the rooftops leading to the Louvre Square and the blocks surrounding it, Ladybug whispers into her commlink, "(Softly) Wait for my signal. Understood?"

One of the other voices inside the commlink replies in a whisper, "(Softly) Understood, Ladybug. Over and out."

Ladybug flies towards the meteor, but Volpina's illusion of herself flies underneath the meteor and catches it before flinging it back into the air.

Ladybug is secretly recording the whole thing, even as the meteor gets touched by a flying pigeon shocked at the meteor but choosing not to fly away, and the illusion of the meteor disappears.

Ladybug mentally snickers, "Well, I guess it's true; pigeons really are dumb. All the same, thank you for giving me more evidence, you flying vermin."

Cat Noir then asks telepathically, "Don't our fellow Parisians know that meteors don't instantly appear from out of nowhere without warnings from CNES or NASA and all other country allies working on planetary defense and space exploration?

Ladybug answers telepathically as she explains before asking at the end, "As I explained to you, Adri-kitty, most versions of your native universe, with and without Thomas Astruc and his posse at the helm of the animations and scripts, tend to depict people who interact with Iris in any way possible to be metaphorically brain dead, or in other words to put it simply, they tend to be depicted as dumb enough to believe Lila's lies unless a big exposé detailing all of Lila's lies, crimes, and habits among other things makes the news without her knowing about it until it's too late. And even then, most people, such as Alya's counterparts for one notable example, tend to feel stupid for believing such outlandish lies without researching them on Google - after all, that's what Google was invented for - and even if some of my counterparts refuse to forgive our class for believing Lila over them and even if some of my counterparts refuse to forgive your counterparts for their actions and inactions among other things, that's a bit of a stereotype I intend to defy for the good of the Quantic Multiverse, with and without anyone else's help, and whether Bunnyx and Astruc like it or not. Will you help me, mon amour?"

Cat Noir then says telepathically, "You know I will, mon amour."

The illusion of Volpina flies down to a building rooftop, but the real Volpina swats her away, making the illusion disappear in a puff of yellowish-white smoke which disappears instantaneously.

Volpina walks off to the rooftop ledge and she addresses the Parisians below, "I am Volpina, the only superhero Paris needs!"

As civilians chant her name, an invisible Ladybug snorts quietly before whispering under her breath, "(Extremely quietly) Yeah, right. Like every Parisian is gonna buy it, especially in the manner of words you used."

Volpina lands on a nearby rooftop and spots Cat Noir doing push-ups.

Volpina then says, "Hey, Cat Noir!"

Cat Noir stops at fifty push-ups before saying as he asks, "Well, hello there, foxy. Who are you?"

Volpina replies before asking, "I'm Volpina. Hey, where's Ladybug? And where's the rest of the team?"

Cat Noir answers flawlessly, having practiced lying on such a level with someone like Volpina, "Oh, she should be here in a few minutes. And the rest of the team had very important civilian obligations they couldn't put down to meet with us."

Volpina shrugs before saying, "Okay, never mind."

Ladybug then flies over them and hovers in front of Cat Noir and Volpina, the buzzing of her wings alerting them to her presence.

Cat Noir says, "Hey, m'lady, glad you could make it."

Ladybug replies before saying to Volpina, "I'm glad too. Volpina, it's a good thing you were able to deal with that meteor for us. I have reason to believe you'll make an excellent recruit to the team."

Volpina giggles in response before saying, "Thank you, Ladybug. It's such an honor. I do have something serious to tell you guys, though."

Ladybug raises an eyebrow as she asks, "And what might that be, by any chance?"

Volpina says before shouting as she gets in a fighting stance, "I have some intel on – Hawk Moth!"

Ladybug and Cat Noir turn around to see Volpina's illusion of Hawk Moth.

As soon as they get ready to fight, Hawk Moth teleports away, and as Volpina gives chase, Ladybug and her partner could tell by the looks in their eyes that they were skeptical.

No one had ever seen Hawk Moth in person, but the twosome could tell that this was not only an image of the actual Hawk Moth that he provided for Volpina's illusion to manifest, but the illusion's silver mask was the same one everyone in the city saw during the second Stoneheart attack, albeit through his hologram made of Akuma butterfly clones.

At the same time, however, Ladybug and Cat Noir could tell that Volpina was sort of new to the ability to create and control her illusions when they resemble actual people, as evidenced by Hawk Moth's stoic expression and stiff movements. But they knew that didn't mean Volpina wouldn't become better at controlling her illusions in a second Akumatization on Heroes' Day.

As they see the illusion teleporting from one rooftop to the next, Cat Noir remarks to play along, "Well, I'll be. It's Hawk Moth, in person."

Ladybug then says, "Either he looks distracted or he's trying to find a way to take our Miraculouses in person."

Volpina then says, "We can take him down now, but it's going to take all three of us. Ladybug, you go to the right. Cat Noir, you got the left side. I'll try to sneak attack him from behind."

The Akumatized Fox Miraculous user wannabe charges before either of them could say anything, but Ladybug signals Cat Noir to play along, and they went in their assigned directions.

But what Volpina didn't know and probably won't find out until it's too late is that Ladybug also said to Cat Noir in hand signals to make a round and return in a few seconds to a few minutes in any of the situations they found themselves taken into.

Ladybug whispers, "(Softly) Lucky Charm!" and she summons a water hose.

Instead of going into Volpina's assigned direction – like any version of this Ladybug was going to follow an Akuma's orders! – Ladybug found a fire hydrant on the street, and she quickly attached the hose to the fire hydrant before flying back to the rooftop, only to be met with a gigantic arsenal of missiles, laser guns, machine guns, rocket launchers, grenade launchers, and all sorts of explosive/gunpowder weaponry in her face as well as an illusion of Volpina behind it all.

Volpina remarks, "I had anticipated that you wouldn't follow my orders. I guess you're not as gullible as I thought. But the black cat, on the other hand, he's like the Headless Horseman panicking about whether or not he's finally found his lost, severed head."

Ladybug snort-laughs in response, "Pfft hahahahahahaha! That's rich!"

Cat Noir then sends a message onto Ladybug's yoyo, telling her that he found out the Hawk Moth illusion was in fact an illusion, and he was watching them from a safe distance while keeping an eye on the real Volpina.

Ladybug says, "Catty said he lost Hawk Moth because he teleported fast enough to vanish out of sight. But of course, that wasn't the real Hawk Moth, because your power is illusions, right? You create illusions about people and objects and other things that seem preposterous, and yet people believe them. The meteorite appearing out of nowhere without warning from NASA or CNES for France, Hawk Moth showing up in person and being capable of teleporting when the real Butterfly Miraculous doesn't hold that many superpowers to give to their users, the lie that you and I are best friends. And that's why you got Akumatized, correct? Because I called out your lies in a gentle manner, and you're holding a grudge against anyone who calls you out on your bad behavior because a psychiatrist would correctly point out that you're a sociopath with anti-social personality disorder and you have no empathy, and I destroyed the illusions you used to try to sway Adrien into your arms and lips, Lila Rossi."

Of course, what Volpina doesn't know is that Scarlet Reynard and Black Tigra were live-streaming the whole thing on TV and Alya had been tasked to notify Bria Rossi, Lila's first mother, about the situations at hand, past and current.

And of course, Volpina also doesn't know that Black Tigra had received Ladybug's footage of Lila becoming Volpina and casting her illusion of herself and the meteor to show to the people gathered around the Louvre Square.

Volpina snarls, "My name is Volpina! And if you move, the weapons will open fire. Not just you, but your precious Paris will be obliterated!"

Ladybug replies, "Yeah, how about no?"

Ladybug hurtles Scarlet Reynard right towards the illusions of the ranged military and police weaponry, and she strikes them one by one in rapid succession, where they disappears in puffs of yellowish-white smoke that evaporate instantly.

Black Tigra on the ground then says while providing visual evidence of Lila as Volpina, "That meteor was an illusion crafted by Hawk Moth's newest victim, Lila Rossi, also known as Volpina, a supervillain who can cast as many illusions as she wants, just like Scarlet Reynard as an adult user of one of the many Fox Miraculouses."

Civilians looked at each other before looking up fearfully at Volpina charging with her flute at the ready.

Black Tigra instantly dodges Volpina's first swing, but the second and third consecutive swings catch her off guard, sending her flying.

Just then, Clairvoyance appears with a hose connected to a fire hydrant and she shoots a large stream of water at Volpina, making her sputter as she gets pushed back into the walls of the building surrounding the Louvre Pyramid.

Volpina screams disgustedly as she sputters water out of her mouth before casting an illusion of herself being multiplied into billions.

But Clairvoyance magically reveals the illusions as Volpina makes a break for one of the exits of the Louvre Square.

Suddenly, a boxing glove attached to a robot fist pops up out of the ground in front of Volpina, knocking her out with a single punch.

Ladybug turns up, breaks the necklace, purifies the Akuma, and Lila is returned to normal.

Ladybug asks in concern, "Lila?"

Lila asks in disorientation, "Ladybug?"

Ladybug questions again, "Are you alright?"

Ladybug goes to help Lila up, but Lila roughly brushes her off as she says, "You were right. We'll never be friends."

Everyone around the area glares hardly at Lila, and she instantly realizes she made a mistake.

Ladybug growls as she slowly unfurls her dragon-ladybug armor, daring Lila to say anything else.

And when Lila's mother turned up at Alya Cesaire's request, well, Lila was gonna have a lot to answer for.

In Hawk Moth's lair, Hawk Moth remarks, "She's still mad. You're not done with Volpina yet, Ladybug. You haven't seen the last of her, even if her mother now knows what she's done."

The window to Hawk Moth's lair closes.

In Marinette's bedroom, she snorts, "Hmph, you have no idea how true that is, Gabi."

Plagg then says to Adrien, "Ooh, yeah, Master Wang Fu was definitely looking for this ever since the Order of the Guardians were accidentally destroyed."

Tikki then says, "I'm sorry, Adrien, but because of the confirmation that your father is Hawk Moth, we can't in good conscience let him have it back, or the Peacock Miraculous, for that matter."

Marinette then says, "And I think it's time for you to meet the Guardian of the Miracle Box for real, Adrien."

Later, at Master Fu's massage shop, Marinette knocks on the door.

Marinette, Tikki, Adrien, and Plagg enter the room.

Master Fu remarks, "Hello, Ladybug and Cat Noir."

The door closes behind them by itself.

To be continued...

(Author's notes: Yes, I somewhat extended the fight between Ladybug and Volpina while giving her all of those injuries and that amount of fatigue just because of how much I f(bleep!) hate her. Now, I may or may not have been among the few to see for myself how much trouble Lila was going to become before season 3 came out and before I even watched the Heroes' Day and Chameleon episodes, but I can tell that most of the Miraculous Ladybug fandom has had their fair share of debates over how much punishment Lila deserves for her lies and her crimes, as well as how much punishment parts of the fandom thinks that the Akuma Class deserves for believing Lila over Marinette and for Adrien on choosing not to do anything about Lila's lies in the first place. But you all gotta understand, people like Thomas Astruc are only involved in cartoon and movie projects like Miraculous Ladybug only for money, not just for the entertainment of us spectators and viewers. Besides, in all likelihood if the multiverse was real, even if Thomas Astruc wasn't in charge of the first five seasons of Miraculous Ladybug in some kind of alternative timeline, there's a 50 to 75% chance that the other director of the show's first five seasons in a parallel universe/alternate timeline would end up being just as horrendous as Astruc. But don't take my word for it; there's plenty of those types of directors to be found that are still alive today, and it just depends on which of their projects they made happen to have the same problems that Miraculous Ladybug, Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, and the live action Batman films from 1989 to 1997 among others, if not all of the problems since Miraculous Ladybug does focus on superheroes in French middle school.

Anyways, see you all in chapter 46: The Collector vs. Merchant.)
