Chapter 1
The Most Generic Looking Male Human on Earth
To mundane people, he appears as a perfectly ordinary male human, with nondescript features and a bland expression. His height, weight, and body type are all average, and his clothing and grooming are unremarkable. He blends into the crowd, and no one would give him a second glance.
However, to those with mystical senses, he is something far more sinister. His skin appears to be... stretched over something else, as if it were a thin membrane covering a grotesque, pulsing mass beneath. His eyes seem to shift and writhe, as if they were alive and trying to escape from his face. His smile is wide and unnatural, revealing jagged, pointed teeth that seem to grow longer and sharper with each passing moment.
Despite his mundane appearance, this person is a humanoid abomination hiding in human skin. His true form is a twisted, eldritch horror that defies comprehension, and his presence seems to bring with it a sense of creeping dread and madness. Those who see him are often driven to despair and madness, as if they are caught in the grip of an unspeakable, otherworldly force.
As Ethan Rayne wandered through the dimly lit streets of Sunnydale, he couldn't shake off the feeling that something extraordinary was about to happen. The air was thick with anticipation, and whispers of ancient powers danced on the wind. It was on this fateful night that he stumbled upon a seemingly ordinary man, dressed in a plain suit and sporting an unremarkable face.
Ethan's curiosity piqued as he approached the man, sensing an otherworldly presence lurking beneath his mundane facade. With a sly smile, Ethan greeted him, "Well, well, what do we have here? A rather unassuming gentleman amidst all this chaos."
The humanoid abomination turned its gaze towards Ethan, its eyes devoid of any discernible emotion. It spoke in a voice that seemed to echo from deep within cavernous depths, "Indeed, chaos is my domain. I am but a humble observer of your world's descent into madness."
Ethan chuckled softly, recognizing the familiar tones of cosmic horror in the creature's words. "Ah, so you're not just another lost soul wandering these streets tonight. Tell me, what brings you here?"
The humanoid leaned closer, its breath carrying an otherworldly scent that sent shivers down Ethan's spine. "I have come to offer my services for your Halloween '97 event."
Ethan's eyes gleamed with excitement as he realized the potential power this creature possessed. "And what exactly can you contribute to our little celebration?"
The thing in the flesh of a man leans closer.
Sunnydale High
The Next Day
"Snyder said costumes were mandatory." says Willow, not looking happy at the idea. She is a shy person and the idea of being sexy conflicts with her nature. If she only knew what the future held for her.
"Great. I was gonna stay in and veg." says Buffy Summer, Sunnydale's Vampire Slayer. The former cheerleader was going to enjoy her time off. "The one night a year things are supposed to be quiet for me."
"Halloween quiet? Oh, I figured it'd be a big old vamp scare-apalooza." says Alexander Harris, known to Xander to his few close friends, as they walk into the lounge.
"Not according to Giles. He swears that tomorrow night is, like, dead for the undead." says Buffy as the girls sit, "They stay in."
"Those wacky vampires! That's why I love 'em! They just keep you guessing!" quips Xander.
He puts his satchel down on the table and heads over to the soda vending machine. He puts in his coins and hits a button. Nothing. He hits another one. Still nothing. He hits the machine in the front and on the side. Larry comes up to him and puts his hand on Xander's shoulder.
"Harris!"
"Hey, Lar. You're lookin' Cro-Mag as usual. What can I do you for?"
"You and Buffy, you're just friends, right?"
"I like to think of it less as a friendship and more as a solid foundation for future bliss."
"So, she, she's not your girlfriend?"
"Alas, no."
Larry looks over at Buffy as he walks around Xander.
"Do you think she'd go out with me?"
He turns to face Xander with Buffy to his back now.
"Well, Lar, that's a tough question to... No. Not a chance."
"Why not? I heard some guys say she was fast."
"So, you've been listening to idiots?"
"I'm talking to you, Harris."
"Yeah, about girls. When you're not interested?"
"What? What do mean!?"
The girls watch as Xander leans in and whispers into Larry's ear and Larry pales. Larry pales and walks away very quickly, while Xander picks up his drink.
"What was that about?" asks Buffy, "I thought Larry was going to thrash you."
"He wanted my sage advice." says Xander with a grin.
"Sage advice?" says Buffy dripping with doubt.
"Remember last week?"
"I still say it was Luck."
A week ago, Buffy fought a demon in Sunnydale Gardens. The demon couldn't be killed by the living or the weapons they wield. Xander bumped a vampire into the demon, causing the demon to fall into a woodchipper. Before the fight, she had told Xander- "The day you kill the demon before me is the day I ask you for advice on clothing."
Ethan's Costume Shop.
The store is full of mothers with their kids looking for Halloween costumes. Buffy is handling a plastic pumpkin when it suddenly lights up and screams. She quickly puts it back on the counter. Willow comes over to her.
"What'd you get?"
"A time-honored classic!" says Willow as she holds up a ghost costume – one of most generic and cheap costumes in the store.
"Okay, Will, can I give you a little friendly advice?"
"It's not spooky enough?"
"It's just... you're never gonna get noticed if you keep hiding." says Buffy, "You're missing the whole point of Halloween."
Willow smiles "Free candy?"
"It's 'come as you aren't' night. The perfect chance for a girl to get sexy and wild with no repercussions."
"Oh, I don't get wild. Wild on me equals spaz."
"Don't underestimate yourself. You've got it in you."
"Hey, Xander!"
He comes up to them.
"What'd you get?" Willow asked. "That doesn't look like a $5 costume."
"It isn't, Will. During that fight last Week, one of those vamps dropped their wallet before they dusted."
"What? No Fair! Do you know how rare that is?" says Buffy, "I've only got a ring and ten bucks in all the time I've been dusting vamps."
"So, what kind of costume is it?" says Willow, before Buffy can complain more about Xander's Luck.
Xander holds up a form-fitting dark bodysuit designed for hiding in dark places, a long bandana, and an eyepatch. Willow suppresses her blush at the thought of Xander in something that skintight.
Buffy notices a cheerleader from school leaving with a fancy Princess dress under her arm. She would have thought it the perfect outfit to attract the ensouled vampire Angel, but then she read a book that mentioned Liam's dislike of the nobility and a colorful history of prostitutes including former Syphilis-stricken-hooker-turned-vampire Darla.
"So, what costumes did you pick for me?" says Buffy dreading the answer.
Xander pulls out a plastic bag containing a costume and marked with logo for DC Comics and Buffy face drops.
"Xander! My mother wore a costume like this."
"That's OK. In some of the comics, her mother wore the costume before she did."
Willow giggles before Buffy glares at her.
"Get this. I saw Miss Calendar buying costumes for her and Giles! I saw what she got, and I got to say Giles is a Jammy Git."
"Jammy Git?"
"Lucky Bastard but British?"
Suddenly, Buffy gets a mischievous look on her face. "Xander, where's the rack you and Miss C get those costumes from?"
Ethan's
Late Night
The back room at Ethan's. He comes through the curtain and kneels before his statue of Janus. He presses his hands together and winces in pain. When he pulls them apart there are wounds in his palms, and blood flows freely from them.
"The world that denies thee, thou inhabit."
He dabs the blood from his left hand with his right middle finger and smears it over his right eyelid.
"The peace that ignores thee…"
He dabs the blood from his right hand with his left middle finger and smears it over his left eyelid.
"...thou corrupt."
He dabs the blood from his left hand with his right middle finger again and smears a cross onto his forehead.
"Chaos. I remain, as ever, thy faithful, degenerate son."
The light and shadows flicker over the top of the statue from the woman's face on one side to the man's face on the other. The shadows of the shop darken and move in unnatural ways as if following things unseen by human eyes. In those shadows, a pair of eldritch eyes watch with malevolent joy.
Halloween Night
October 31, 1997
"Buffy!?"
"No way, Willow. If I must go out in this, you must go out in this."
"You put my Ghost costume in a Paper Shredder!"
"I saw you sneaking a look at it. You would have put it on the second my back was turned."
"..."
Buffy Summers is dressed as a famous DC Comics character – Amazon Princess Diana of Themyscira, also known as Wonder Woman. The outfit is unique in that it incorporates the ancient esthetic and modern style. She has the golden tiara, silvery bracelets, gold belt/girdle, and red top with the gold eagle symbol, but instead of bare legs and star-spangled rear, she wears form fitting blue pants with her boots. Buffy is glad whoever reimagined this costume considered people would be running around in October, despite it being California weather. As for her regalia, she carries a polished sword and shield that fits a Greek Amazon and at her waist is a thin golden lasso, made of plastic, but looking surprisingly real. An Italian black wig completes the outfit.
Willow Rosenburg is blushing severely because she's dressed as a femme fatale, Marvel's Natalia Alianovna "Natasha" Romanova, also known as Black Widow. She's dressed in a skintight stretchy black bodysuit with gauntlets loaded with cartridges and a belt loaded with disc-shaped cartridge and throwing discs. A bright red wig and a little makeup makes the Jewish-American nerd look a decent cosplay of the Russian-borne spy. Some additional padding also makes Willow feel a little top-heavy.
"I can't go out like this!"
"The troll says you have to." says Buffy referring to Snyder, "and it's too late for another costume."
There is a knock at the door.
Alexander "Don't call me Lavelle" Harris, Xander to his friends, has arrived. Buffy's mother and sister – Joyce and Dawn – were the ones that answered the door and are staring.
Xander is dressed as one of the greatest soldiers in video game history - Snake from Metal Gear games. He's dressed in a form-fitting dark blue bodysuit meant to blend into the darkness and shows off his surprising muscle tone. He wears a bandanna that would look cool in the wind and a black eyepatch that is more than just cloth. At his waist are the tools of a master espionage agent, including a set of very realistic-looking plastic guns. So realistic that parents would have them banned to prevent killing by cops. A little makeup makes him look like he has a 5 O'clock shadow and a fake cigarette adds to the look.
"Snake. Ready for pickup."
""Zan-der, yew look fahn-tas-tic." says Dawn with a Welsh accent.
"You're looking pretty good too, Dawnie."
Dawn was originally going to dress as a fairy Princess for Halloween, but she saw an X-Men costume and remembered Xander's love of comics. She combined the fairy ears and pink hair, pointed ears, and gossamer fairy wings with the black-and-yellow bodysuit to create a New Mutant character, a half-fairy mutant from Wales. She even went to the Librarian Giles to help with her Welsh accent.
Joyce Summers is going to a Halloween Party for the various small business owners and friends. While she did wear a Wonder Woman costume to a previous party, this time she is dressed as a witch. Minerva McGonagall, Professor of Transfiguration at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The first book in Rowling's Harry Potter series had only come out recently in England, but Giles had connections and Joyce and Dawn were lucky enough to get an early read. Joyce even has her hair in a tight bun, wears old fashion spectacles, and a 9½ inches long wand made of Douglas Fir wood, unfortunately the dragon heart string is merely plastic.
"Oh My God, Xander. Is that you?" says Buffy, while Willow tries not to faint.
"Please call me, Snake. I'm here to pick up Agent Romanoff and Princess Diana for a horrible mission."
"I thought we were escorting kids." says Buffy.
"Yes."

Ethan Rayne, chaos worshipper, troublemaker, and former friends of Rupert "Ripper" Giles, weaves a spell in Latin.
"Janus, evoco vestram animam. Exaudi meam causam. Carpe noctem pro consilio vestro. Veni, appare et nobis monstra quod est infinita potestas."
Translation: Janus, I invoke your spirit. Hear my plea. Seize the night for your own reason. Come, appear and show to us that which is infinite power.
"Persona se corpum et sanguium commutandum est. Vestra sancta praesentia concrescet viscera. Janus! Sume noctem!"
Translation: The mask transforms itself into flesh and blood. Your holy presence curdles the heart. Janus! Take the night!
The abomination in man's skin has its own addition to the spell. The air grows heavy with a palpable sense of foreboding as the words spill forth from its twisted lips. Each syllable resonates with an otherworldly power, echoing through the ethereal plane and stirring the dormant forces of chaos. It's as if his words are shaking reality and a feeling of dread spreads through Sunnydale. It pushes even through the spell that makes the inhabitants oblivious to the supernatural.
"Ex Chaos omnia nascuntur, in Chaos omnia revertentur. Semen magiae floret in mari Chaos et dissolvit terminos inter realitatem et phantasiam."
"From chaos everything is born, in chaos everything returns. The seed of magic flourishes in the sea of chaos and dissolves the boundaries between reality and fantasy."
It happens so fast; people don't have time to react.
Flesh and bones of physical bodies dissolve into glowing green ectoplasm and Ghosts rise, cloaked in sheets turned burial shrouds. They screech as they fly into the skies to haunt the living.
Young boys dressed as skeletons cry out as flesh dissolves to reveal animated bones with unholy light glowing in their empty eye sockets. Unhindered by the weight of flesh, they run off in search of mortal prey.
New species of Vampires awaken with a thirst for blood and feral werewolves howl for meat. Children that dressed as little demons have their souls mutilated into the unholy to match their corrupted flesh.
Within minutes, hundreds begin to die. Some are torn apart by monsters, some die in accidents running from monsters, and some die due to making poor costume choices.
"Quark! Heghlu'meH QaQ jajvam!"
Translation: "Quark! You Dishonorable Con-Artist! You thought you could Hide!?"
The last thing that goes through Principal Snyder's mind before the Klingon disruptor slowly and painfully disintegrates him is that "This is somehow Summer's fault."
The Klingon Qonwjaq doesn't waste time to spit on the "Quark's" ashes as he's surrounded by enemies and glory calls to him.
Dawn Summers is covered in a bright green light and when the light fades Megan Gwynn now stands in her place.
Megan is a Welsh mutant gifted with wings with psychotropic properties. She later learned she was a hybrid mutant and fairy and possessed powers granted to her both by her mutation and inherent magical abilities, without a clear distinction regarding the source of each power.
She has experienced a lot of weirdness since she became one of the many young mutants enrolled at the Xavier Institute. This includes a traumatic encounter with the demon Belasco, a corrupted Magik siphoning her soul, and many other demonic encounters in addition to the stress of fighting for mutant survival.
"I would give this a 6 out 10." says Megan looking at madness around her.
"A Fairy!?" comes a Scottish cry.
Megan turns to see a young woman dressed as a witch or perhaps a real witch.
"Only half. So, who are you?"
"Half? Forgive my rudeness. Professor Minerva McGonagall of Hogwarts."
"Megan Gwynn, also known as Pixie, of Xavier's, Welcome to another weird night."
Xander Harris is pushed into the depths of his mind by the weight of several lifetimes.
He remembers fighting in the Korean War and killing his former mentor The Boss, after she urged him to finish her off in a field of flowers. Fighting his former allies in San Hieronymo Peninsula, Colombia. Fighting former CIA and AI during the Peace Walker Incident in 1974. The destruction of Mother Base during Ground Zeroes Incident and awakening after seven years. Saying "This is good... Isn't it?" To his son as he died in his arms.
He remembers awakening in the hospital. He remembers his encounters with Quiet. He remembers fighting the bipedal Metal Gear Sahelanthropus. He remembers Skull Face and Code Talker's metallic archaea. He remembers confronting the Man on Fire and carrying Quiet's burned body. He remembers visions of himself as a horned demon and fighting against Solid Snake. He remembers dying, burned alive by Solid Snake.
He remembers inducted into the Green Berets as a teen and took part in a mission to infiltrate western Iraq in 1991, during the Gulf War. He remembers stopping the mercenary nation of Outer Heaven and their development of the "ultimate weapon" Metal Gear. Some ultimate weapon if it can be stopped by a few grenades. He remembers defeating Big Boss with a lighter and being called a hero, when all he wanted to do was dog race in the North. Fighting terrorists during the Shadow Moses Incident in Alaska. The Manhattan Incident. The Guns of the Patriots Incident. Finally, him holding his "father" Big Boss as he died.
He remembers. He remembers. He remembers.
Despite his mind having a myriad of confusing memories stretching decades, he still has the combat skills combined with a bioengineered body enhanced by nanomachines.
Drawing inspiration from Naked Snake (Big Boss), Xander utilized his tactical knowledge to assess the situation. He quickly analyzed the demon's movements, identifying weak points and vulnerabilities. With lightning-fast precision, he struck back, delivering a series of calculated blows that incapacitated the first demon.
As Punished "Venom" Snake (Big Boss), Xander tapped into his inner determination and resilience. He faced off against two more demons simultaneously, their monstrous forms towering over him. Undeterred, Xander unleashed a barrage of punches and kicks, each strike infused with the strength and tenacity of Venom Snake. The demons staggered under the onslaught.
Channeling the stealthy prowess of Solid Snake/Old Snake, Xander disappeared into the shadows, blending seamlessly with the darkness. He silently approached another demon from behind, utilizing his enhanced senses to detect its every movement. With surgical precision, he incapacitated it before it even had a chance to react.
Liquid Snake/White Mamba's cunning and adaptability became Xander's next weapon. As the remaining demons closed in, he analyzed their fighting styles and weaknesses. With a swift change in tactics, Xander exploited their vulnerabilities, countering their attacks with a combination of agility and strategic strikes. Each move was executed flawlessly, leaving the demons bewildered and disoriented.
Drawing upon the strength and determination of Solidus Snake, Xander faced off against the final demon. This demon possessed immense power; its blows capable of shattering concrete. However, Xander's newfound abilities allowed him to match the demon blow for blow. With every strike, he channeled the spirit of Solidus Snake, refusing to yield.
Finally, Xander delivers a single final blow to the last demon, causing it to tumble to the ground coughing up burnt orange blood.

Buffy Summer's mind is suppressed by many lifetimes of a nigh immortal amazon heroine, her Slayer spirit born from the essence of a primordial Shadow Demon is overwhelmed by warrior spirits empowered by the Gods of Olympus. As the divine energy and golden ichor burns through her veins, demons attempt to attack the woman curled in pain only for her to cry out and a shockwave of golden lightning to explode from her body. Demons scream as the divine power burns their flesh and some of weaker monsters like vampires and skeletons turn to ash before they even hit the ground.
In that moment, Buffy Summers ceases and Wonder Woman of an unknown Earth readies herself for battle.
One demon strikes her shield with the strength of a hundred men, enough power that he could tear humans apart like wet tissue paper. His blow fails to dent a shield made by the God of the Forge Hephaestus and touch of the celestial metal burns his unholy flesh. He could crush most demon hunters to pulp with his iron-hard muscles, but she doesn't move an inch. She pushes him back despite him being as big as rhino and three times the weight. She slashes at him with a sword, despite him having skin like bronze.
The Hephaestus forged sword could slice the electrons off an atom and the woman swinging it could match the God of Strength Herakles. The massive demon is sliced like a potato by the absurdly sharp sword. As the black ooze that serves as blood sprays, its dying body turns to stone. With its fierce life force extinguished, nature is rejecting the demon's unnatural existence. Soon the stone cracks and crumbles into a cloud of dust that's blown away by nature's wind.
The smaller demons seeing their Boss' defeat, decide to run for the hills and get away from the woman warrior.
Wonder Woman takes a moment to calm herself and observes her environment.
"Halloween. Many small simplistic monsters, but no huge portals or wizards running their mouths. A spell of transformation. Justice League. Justice League, come in. Is there anyone listening to me?"
Sunnydale High Library.
Same Time
"This is Zatanna." says one of the most powerful magic users in the DC Multiverse. She is a beautiful Italian-American woman with long black hair. She is dressed in a sexy version of Stage Magician outfit, but her magic is very real. A group of small demons trapped in a cube of purple light. The demons roar, growl, and screech.
"Snomed ni Ebuc eb TEIUQ!"
Translated: "Demons in Cube be QUIET!"
Then Zatanna's Logomancy silences them like a mute button.
"I'm with John at a High School Library." finishes Zatanna., "I'm glad the communicators are working."
"Do you have any information about the spell?" asks Wonder Woman over the MagiTech coms.
"Listen up Diana. Some Pollock drew power from Janus to cast a bit of Chaos magic. I think the original spell was only supposed to turn people into their costumes for night, but something eldritch is pushing magic beyond normal limits."
"Can you break the spell?"
"I have a more pressing matter. Some sorcerer built this bloody town on top of a Hellgate!"
In the center of the library, Constantine and Zatara's magic are keeping a pillar of blinding white hellfire from expanding. Inside the blinding light, dark tentacles covered in glowing eyes and drooling mouths attempt to reach outside the barrier only to be pushed back. There is a guttural screeching as the tentacles fail again, so Zatanna silences the abominations as well.
"Tartarus!?"
"I don't care which hell it's connected to, Princess. As long as it's not connected to us!" says Constantine, "Zatanna, call them. I got this?"
"Call who?" asks Diana
"Srepap emoceb sdrib dna reviled ruoy segassem. Dnif Seoreh."
Translation: "Papers become birds and deliver your messages. Find Heroes."
As Zatanna casts a spell, papers on a nearby table fold themselves into origami birds before transforming into real doves that fly out a broken window.
"Anyone."
Mayor Wilkin's House
"Oh bother, this was supposed to my night off." says Richard Wilkins.
The mundane people of Sunnydale believe him to be the grandson of Sunnydale's founder, but in truth the ageless sorcerer has been around since the town's founding in May of 1899. He founded the town on the Hellmouth so demons could feed, and he could benefit from pacts with them. His grand plan was Ascension, transforming into an Old One. A plan that was going to be concluded in May of 1999.
"Sir?" says his Aide.
"It's a 'transform people into their costumes' spell. It's a Classic, even older than I am." says Mayor Wilkins, taking a sip of his coffee, "If things had gone right, everything would be back to business as usual by tomorrow. We could blame any deaths and memories on contaminated candy."
"What went wrong, Sir?"
"Either someone who doesn't know restraint, or we have someone who wants to break everything." says Mayor Wilkins looking a tad upset.
One of the mayor's vampire minions bursts into the room in a panic, but he doesn't have a chance to give a report as he explodes into ash a second later. The Mayor and his Aide stared at the ashes, then at each other.
"I'll go get the vacuum." says the Aide.
"Good boy."
Streets
Michael Garcia was another teen forced to escort children by Principal Snyder. He didn't want to waste time and money buying an expensive costume, so he brought a novelty arrow through the head headband and a Robin Hood hat. A little fake blood and he was "Failed Robin Hood".
He's regretting his choice. He has faint memories of Robert Fitzooth de Locksley in his mind, but he's more concerned with the shaft though his brain and the severe blood loss. He's collapsed against a door surrounded by upended bags of trick-or-treater candy. He doesn't know if the owner is dead and torn to pieces, alive and hiding, or transformed into a monster, but it doesn't matter for him.
He watches as Spider-Man swings by on web line followed by Batman using a grapple line.
He watches Ashley J Williams from Army of Darkness use his chainsaw to cut up Freddy Kruger. The undead child serial killer may be scary in dreams empowered by demons, but in the real world he can be torn apart and killed. Freddy is not a match for a well-oiled chainsaw and S-Mart's top of the line Boom Stick.
He watched Captain America fight a flamboyant version of Dracula. The vampire lord taunted that without blessed weapon or sunlight, the American super soldier was helpless. Then Cap knocked the vampire on his back and decapitated the vampire with the edge of the Vibranium shield. Apparently, this Catholic Captain had his shield blessed by a Priest, as the vampire exploded into fiery ashes. The ashes also vanish from existence as Captain America runs off to join other Heroes.
He also watched Darth Vader force choke Joker to death. The Clown Prince of Crime tries to manipulate the Dark Lord of the Sith, but Anakin Skywalker's mind was already dealing with a dozen versions of himself who all had to deal with the Emperor Palpatine. Joker isn't going to come back to life, because a large furry monster comes by minutes later and devours his corpse. Poor monster then got violently ill and flopped to ground dead looking like a purple shag carpet.
He wishes he could tell people, but Michael soon loses consciousness and seconds later, his soul leaves his body.
Scourge's End
Spike, also known as William the Bloody as a vampire and William Pratt the Bloody Awful Poet in life, wonders why he bothered to leave the hideout. Drusilla told him something was happening that night, how the stars were wrong and right at the same time. He knew his beloved was crazy, she had been crazy since Angelus drove her insane before turning her – Drusilla the Mad. He still loved her and stood with her since she was injured in Prague. They came to Sunnydale to find a way of restoring her, but this was the first time she had cried blood. He went out to find some answers and found a neat world where everyone was transformed into their costumes.
He gathered a group of vampires – both real and magically created – and a group of small demons that could be manipulated easily with tales of tasty Slayer flesh and blood. What he didn't expect was some Greek Amazon superhero out of the comic books lassoing him with a piece of glowing golden rope. He growls with his game face on as divine energy slowly burning him despite him wearing a leather jacket.
His "comrades" are just as messed up. The small demons are cocooned in webs made Spider-Man or tied up by Batman's lines. One version of Dracula has turned into a Bat and attempted to drain blood from a hero, but the idiot was dumb enough to bite bloody Superboy. What kind of idiot vampire would bite a man whose power is solar energy absorption? Dracula Bat didn't have a chance to react before exploded like a bloody firework. The rest of the vampires are too scared Superboy would stare them to death with his heat vision.
Spike doesn't know what happened to the large horned demon that was with his group. He thought he may have seen someone in shadows of the alley with a glowing eyepatch, but it could have been his imagination and a hallucination caused by the Amazon's skull cracking punch.
"There is something different about you and some of the weaker vampires. Are you real vampires?"
"Yes. I'm a real vampire, not someone in a mask. I was born in 1853 in London and was sired by Drusilla the Mad in 1880. She was sired by Angelus in 1860 and Angelus was sired by Darla in 1727. Darla was sired in 1609 by The Master. Heinrich Joseph Nest was the leader of the Order of Aurelius, but I don't know who sired him. All I know is he was descendant of demon lord Archaeus spawned by old one Maloker." Spike doesn't know why he is talking or speaking the truth. He doesn't even know why he's talking about lineages since the superheroine didn't ask about them. All he knows is he's burning on the inside, like molten metal flowing through his veins.
Wonder Woman decides to be merciful and slices Spike's head off. Oddly enough, while Spike's body and head becomes a cloud of ash, that glows gold for the split second, the black leather coat that once belonged to the Vampire Slayer Nikki Wood is still held in a Lasso.
Miles away, Drusilla the Mad lies on her bed as she bleeds from her eyes, nose, mouth, and ears. Spike's nest of vampires is panicking around her as they know Spike will dust them if anything happens to Drusilla. Despite everything they do, even offering her blood from both vampires and humans, her body is cracking like a dry riverbed. She holds up her doll, despite her own arm cracking like a broken China doll.
"Good-Bye Miss Edith. I'm leaving with my Spike."
Then it happens. One moment she is dying insane vampire, the next she is a cracked statue of dust. The statue then cracks and crumbles into a pile of dust on the bed sheets.
Angel, once known as the feared and brutal Angelus and the drunken lazy human known as Liam, holds his chest outside the Summers residence. He felt something strange and found someone had cast a spell on Halloween Night. Worried about Buffy, his light from his depression since his ensoulment in 1898. Now after almost a hundred years, he can feel something tearing inside him. The demon within him is crying in pain and he can feel the power that animates his dead flesh draining away. As his consciousness fades, he hears a voice yell out.
"ἀνάστασις" (anastasis)
Translation: Resurrection
He then feels fire as holy magic incinerates his undead flesh, while setting his soul ablaze. The demon spirit of Angelus is ripped apart until nothing remains.
Ethan's Costume Shop
"Funny. I thought it would be Ripper?" says Ethan Rayne, his voice faint and filled with pain.
Ethan Rayne's body appears to be grotesquely transformed, bearing the unmistakable signs of eldritch power. The once familiar human form is now distorted and twisted, reflecting the malevolent forces that have consumed him. His skin has taken on an unnatural pallor, appearing sickly and mottled with patches of deep purple and black decay. It seems to be stretched tightly over his bones, emphasizing the skeletal structure beneath. The texture of his skin is rough and uneven, resembling cracked and weathered leather.
"Who is Ripper, Sorcerer?" asks the red-haired Russian woman.
"Rupert "Ripper" Giles. He, me, Thomas, Philip, Randall, and Diedre were warlock friends back in London during the 70s." says the dying man, "Those were fun days... until Randall died... and Ripper was scared straight."
Ethan's facial features have been contorted beyond recognition. His eyes, once vibrant and expressive, are now sunken and hollow, surrounded by dark circles that give them a haunting appearance. The irises have turned a sickly yellow color, lacking any signs of life or humanity. His mouth has been stretched into an unnaturally wide grin that exposes his teeth. His limbs have become sinewy and unnaturally thin, as if he had been starved in the worst concentration camps in human history.
"What's happened to you, sorcerer?" says Black Widow, her gun pointed at Ethan's lifeless face.
"My little spell is too big... and I'm burning too hot." says Ethan, sounding like he's having a hard time breathing, "I didn't really trust the guy…. but you can't say no to... one of his kind."
"How do you break the spell?"
"I already tried… when it started to... kill me." says Ethan pointing a bony finger at a shattered bust of the Roman God Janus, its plaster fragments scattered around the room. "That was the focus... That Thing... in human skill, linked the spell to itself...Tell Ripper, sorry we couldn't... have a talk... together."
Ethan shudders and goes still. Black Widow backs away as Ethan's flesh completely blackens and crumbles away from the bones as black dust, resembling graphite powder. A fraction of a second after the flesh, the bones also blacken and crumble like burnt wood in a fire.
Outside of Ethan's
"Why are you attacking me?"
"Don't bother to hide what you are." says Wonder Woman, "We have fought many horrors and many cunning villains before. We will not be fooled."
The generic man, initially appearing as an ordinary human, stands before Wonder Woman with an air of banality. His features are unremarkable, blending seamlessly into the crowd. But as Wonder Woman engages in combat, a sinister transformation begins to take place.
The man's skin starts to ripple and contort, as if something is writhing beneath its surface. Veins bulge and pulsate, snaking their way across his body like dark rivers. His eyes, once dull and lifeless, now glow with an otherworldly light, revealing a malevolent intelligence lurking within.
With a sickening crack, the man's bones elongate and twist, reshaping his body into grotesque proportions. His limbs stretch and bend at unnatural angles, resembling the twisted forms found in nightmares. The flesh on his face splits open, revealing rows of razor-sharp teeth that jut out from a gaping maw.
As the transformation progresses, the man's skin takes on a sickly hue, resembling decaying flesh. Strange appendages sprout from his back, resembling insectoid limbs or tentacles that writhe and thrash in an unholy dance. The air around him becomes heavy with an otherworldly stench, a mixture of decay and sulfur.
His once-human form now resembles a nightmarish fusion of Lovecraftian horror and Giger-esque biomechanical monstrosity. The abomination towers over Wonder Woman, its presence exuding an aura of pure malevolence and cosmic dread. Every movement is accompanied by unsettling organic sounds - wet squelches, mechanical whirrs, and bone-chilling screeches.
Other Heroes would have attempted to escape or have collapsed as their minds broke under the thing's unnatural aura, but the Heroes that stand before the eldritch abomination have fought all manner of evils to save the world. They are terrified of the creature, as any sane and living creature would be, but overcoming fear is the definition of Bravery and Bravery is The Heart of the Hero!
Batman throws a set of batarangs at the abomination that easily knocks them away with the strange appendages on its back. They seem to move at unnatural angles and move so fast they leave lingering afterimages. The batarangs were only a distraction as flash bombs detonated blinding with otherworldly eyes and other eyes hidden on its body. It screeches sound like scraping metal insects and would make most ears bleed, but this version of Batman is always prepared with earbuds that block the sonic attack and a Nth metal batarang that pierces the abomination's skull with its razor edge.
Spider-Man dances around the abomination's attacks. While the bizarre limbs move faster than the human eye can see, they are still predicted by Peter's precognitive "Spider-Sense". His body possesses dexterity beyond human and he needs every bit to avoid blows that could tear through flesh with wet tissue paper. Spider-Man is concentrating so much, he doesn't even have time for quips and jokes, and the situation is far too serious. Impact webbing collides with the appendages and explodes into tendrils that bind the Lovecraftian limbs. The limbs vibrate like insect wings, but they are slowed down.
Captain America throws his mighty shield and the shield impacts with the appendages, tearing them off the abomination. The limbs continue to switch on the ground and dark liquid that functions as the abomination's blood sprays from the broken stumps. The shield bounces off a few surfaces, but before it can return to Cap's hand, glowing eldritch symbols appear in the air around the abomination. A fraction of a second later, unseen attacks tear through the air and shred both the shield and Captain America.
"Cap!" says Spider-Man shocked as the bloody headless corpse of his world's first hero falls to the ground, but the distraction is enough for a few rips to appear in his body from near hits. He escapes being killed, but he's now missing layers of cloth, skin, and a little muscle.
Superboy – a young boy who dressed as Superman – unleashes his heat vision and slices the abomination in half, releasing a spray of Vanta black particles, but the otherworldly being pulls itself back together and continues to regenerate the limbs destroyed by Spidey and Cap. It needs to stop regenerating those limbs, when a manhole cover thrown by Superboy rips through its body. Enraged the Horror leaps at Superboy and pierces the boy with its claws. The boy's eyes widen in shock at being hurt and this version mustn't have realized otherworldly is close enough to be considered magic. The boy is saved when Wonder Woman kicks the abomination with enough force to send a truck flying.
The abomination tumbles across the ground, but the sound of wet squelches, mechanical whirrs, and bone-chilling screeches only get louder.
Snake and Black Widow take that moment to attack, tossing grenades and plastic explosives at the abomination. They move so fast and with such expert instincts, that when the Abomination's fanged maw closes on what it believes is human flesh covered in a camouflage suit, it finds its mouth full of military grade high explosives. A massive explosion rips the abomination into pieces.
The charred fragments dissolve into a cloud of particles blacker than the blackest night. They are pulled back together into an amorphous mass, that then transforms into the abomination's regenerated form. The battle was not for nothing, as its body is now monochrome gray and releasing a faint miasma of darkness. Its glowing eyes are still filled with malevolence beyond human comprehension, but its unholy vitality is waning. The heroes still feel a deep fear in the creature's presence, but they also feel a hope growing.
The abomination is about to launch another eldritch magic attack, but Wonder Woman delivers a punch that shatters its skull despite it not obeying most physics. Its elongated limbs grab the sword and shield forged by Hephaestus and before the eyes of the amazon, the metal begins to decay and melt at the same time. Finally, both divine-made artifacts shatter in the grip of the abomination.
Suddenly, the brightly glowing Lasso of Truth is wrapped around the abomination's neck. It's Wonder Woman's primary weapon and a symbol of her as a future Goddess of Truth. It also forces those entrapped by it to face their own falsehood. The Eldritch – an incomprehensible being and in violation of the world's laws – is forced to understand The Truth. In this state, the world rebels against the abomination's existence and Princess Diana is able to deliver a lethal cut with her decaying sword.
The thing that was once the most ordinary man screeches and roars, as its flesh darkens and expels pungent smoke. The decaying flesh falls off the malformed bones and drips onto the ground, staining it with foulness unimaginable. Some fragments attempt to form other creatures like rats, insects, and other vermin to escape, but they fail to escape death and become more rot upon the ground. Bones twist and shatter like the white limbs of dead trees and marrow turned into black ichor falls to the ground. A strange light grows within its decaying body, shifting to an indigo, violet, and beyond. Finally, the light erupts into an explosion that completely consumes the abomination, eradicating all traces of its physical form from existence.
Sunnydale High Library
Same Moment.
"BLOODY HELL!"
Rupert Giles and Janna Kaladerash in the forms of John Constantine and Zatanna Zatara are sent flying by an explosion of conflicting esoteric energies. They only survive flying through bookshelves of the old library due to their bodies being charged by the rampaging magical energies.
A pillar of crimson light erupts from the heart of Sunnydale, tearing through the mundane construction of the school and into the sky. The sky turns the color of fire and blood, and soon the heating of the atmosphere and esoteric particles cause a thunderstorm to form. The earth shakes as the hellmouth cries out and every magical item buried beneath the surface of Sunnydale ignites.
The Magic Ends
Xander Harris awakens to find himself lying on the ground and leaps to his feet. He knows lying on the ground in Sunnydale at night is equivalent of tossing meat to hungry cats. The instincts of the Snakes also warn him of danger. He remembers what happened tonight, despite being pushed deep into his own mind, seeing his body blend into the shadows and be the hero he wanted to be. He now has control, but the memories are all still fresh.
"Woah. I don't feel quite Xander shaped and why is everything... red?"
Xander looks up to see malevolent storm clouds pierced by blood red light.
"Buffy?"
"It's me, just not Buffy shaped." says Buffy, who's still a six-foot amazon beauty with black hair instead of 5-foot-4 dyed blonde in a wig. The Lasso of Truth on her hip and Bracelets of Subjugation on her wrists still feel like metal, instead of decorative plastic.
"Willow?"
"Not Willow shaped?" says the red-haired 5'7 Russian bombshell instead of a 5'4 Jewish-American cute nerd.
"Look up."
"Oh Shit!"
Edge of Sunnydale, California
November 1, 1997
Sunrise
Mr. Gideon Black was a lawyer that works for Wolfram & Hart.
Wolfram & Hart was a powerful international and interdimensional law firm. Wolfram & Hart, and its many incarnations in other dimensions, was a front organization for the Wolf, Ram and Hart, an ancient cabal of demons known as the Senior Partners, who worked through their powerful principal agents in the Circle of the Black Thorn.
Emphasis on Was.
Last night, during what's supposed to be a slow night – Halloween – every bit of magic left the world. Without that magic, all the dimensional barriers slammed shut cutting off Earth from the other dimensions. Even lingering magic was drained away, with many vampires and demons disintegrating completely. The building in LA collapsed and the only reason he knew about it was because of the news report on the radio.
He had been on his way to Sunnydale when he heard the news. He needed Mayor Wilkins to sign some contracts as they didn't want Wilkins to harm assets if he succeeded in becoming an Old One. The deal was not bad as the local branch of Wolfram & Hart would have become Wolf, Ram, Hart, and Wilkins. The name needed work, but he was confident in his supernatural business skills.
Now that magic was gone, his employers were gone. His powers were gone. He can't even rely on being the manager of talent because if the Seed of Wonder – as he suspected – was gone, it meant Creativity was also annihilated. No more good music or movies.
"I guess I'll just keep drinking." says Mr. Black as he tosses the empty bottle. He was good at baseball back in high school and the bottle goes far into the massive crater that was once Sunnydale, California.
Final Report
We have determined the events of Sunnydale using a functional seer.
On October 31st, 1997, chaos worshipper Ethan Rayne cast a spell to transform the costumed citizens of Sunnydale, California into their costumes using power borrowed from Janus – Roman God of all beginnings, gates, transitions, time, choices, duality, doorways, passages, and endings. This spell was enhanced by an Outsider to call upon the Seed of Wonder hidden beneath Sunnydale to tear down the barriers between worlds.
On October 31st, 1997, the town of Sunnydale, California vanished from the world, taking all magic with it. It's believed the town contained the Seed of Wonder, source of all magic for the world. Without magic, the few vampires awakened are mindless zombies and most demons are now a dying species. Faith Lehane of Boston is the current Slayer, but without magic in the world, she will be the Last Slayer. We can only pray that a solution can be found.

Chapter 2
A Town in Another World
The beautiful Dark Elf reporter embarks on a journey into the wild, specifically to the ancient ruins of the Kingdom. Thousands of years ago, the great sorcerers and nobility of this world summoned heroes from other worlds. Initially, these heroes were brought in to solve world crises, but over time, the corrupt individuals in power began to see them as weapons.
As the corrupt elements within the nobility, royalty, church, and military grew stronger, more modern heroes arrived with new ideas and perspectives. Eventually, a hero emerged who led a rebellion against the corrupt forces that had infested every aspect of society. This rebellion was fueled by a combination of otherworldly science and magic from different races.
The resulting society became a multi-racial diplomatic community driven by magitech, a fusion of magic and technology. This magitech played a crucial role in shaping this new world, allowing for advancements and innovations that were previously unimaginable. It enabled the coexistence and cooperation of various races, each contributing their unique abilities and knowledge to create a harmonious society.
These days, automaton crafted using Earth engineering and Dwarf craftsmanship help build cities and do dangerous jobs. The ancient magical forests are healthier than ever thanks to modern forestry and the drugs crafted from the vast number of magical plants are miraculous by the standards of the past. Dragons and Demons that once sought to dominate through violence and destruction, now dominate through finance and corporations, which is a lot less bloody.
The dark elf reporter is Umbra Nightshade. Her dark elf heritage is strong with ruby red eyes, obsidian black skin, and long silver-white hair. She's tall and lean muscular with pointed ears, but her human heritage is also prominent in her breasts, with each one having the same volume of her head. Her H-Cup breasts are believed to be caused by conflicting genes.
The reporter's attire is a blend of modern fashion and traditional Elven aesthetics. She wears sleek and form-fitting clothing made from enchanted fabrics that enhance their natural grace and agility. Most elves have symbols incorporated in their clothing to show their profession, but she has camouflage to help her hide and get the perfect shots.
Her magitech camera is a marvel of technology infused with magical properties. It can capture images and record videos with exceptional clarity and detail, even in low-light or challenging environments. The camera also has additional enchantments that allow it to detect magical energies and reveal hidden truths.
"An entire Town!?"
She's going to need those features.
