I passed outside Shang's tent. I couldn't believe I was about to do this… I cleared my throat. "Captain Li?" I heard a gruff, and possibly annoyed, come in. I inhaled deeply as I entered. "Soldier Fa. What can I do for you?" He said standing up. "I need to talk to you…" He gestured for me to sit on the mat, which I did, as he sat beside me. "Is it that you're a woman, your name is Mulan and you're here to save your fathers life?" I looked shocked. "How did you…"

Shang chuckled. "Well for starters, you're my bride to be, and have been since we were little, and I know your family extremely well, to know your family doesn't have any sons who would be old enough to take your fathers place." I said "Please don't carry out the law… Or send me home! Please! I beg of you!" Shang smiled small. "Stop. If I was going to send you home, or any thing like that, I would've done it already." I laid my head on his chest. "I'm sorry, for lying at first… I just felt like I had no choice…" Shang smiled fondly. "Don't even think about it, anymore. But something else seems to be troubling you… Want to tell me what it is?"

I raised my eyes to meet his. "Some of the guys are giving me a hard time…" "Which ones?" He asked. "All of them except for four, not including you. Yoa, Chien Po, Cricket, and Ling are the only other ones not giving me a hard time…" Shang frowned. "Well, you did cause trouble the first day, but you've become the best, so I'm sure its just jealousy." We've been here for a total of 2 weeks. "I'm sure that's it… Thanks Shang…" "Of course." My head rested on his shoulder, as I whispered. "Make me your wife?" Shang looked to me, eyes soft and loving, as if to ask if I was sure. I nodded. The next hour was the best. "Sleep love, it's alright now." "I should get back to my tent…" I whispered. "No. Sleep. I'll wake you before the others do." I nodded, curling up in his side, my back resting against his chest, his blanket, and cape covering me his arm draped over me. I don't even know how long we were asleep for, but I remember feeling Shang nudging me. "Sweetheart. Time to wake." He whispered, causing me to groan. "Noooo" He laughed. "Come on." I woke unwillingly and snuck to my tent. We trained during the day, and Shang usually snuck to my tent at night, just to hold me, and sometimes we made love. He made sure I had gotten something to eat since Chi Fu refused to let me most days.

This particular morning, I hadn't been feeling 100%, but still acted like I was. Today we were sparring, I was sparring with one of the other soldiers, I think his name was Chen. "You're weak, spineless, and pathetic." He said as he knocked me off my feet. My vision blurred. "Ugh…" I sprung to my feet, and knocked him down. "Nice work, Ping." I heard Shang's voice. "BITCH." Chen said, leaping to his feet. "Just admit defeat." I said, dizzily. "Not a chance." He said knocking me down, and out.

"Will she be okay though?" I heard Shang's concerned voice asking, I'm assuming the medic. "She will be fine, and so will the baby." 'Baby?! WHAT BABY!?' I thought, as Shang said "Wait Baby?! Are you saying she's pregnant?" Good, Shang was asking the question, as I forced my eyes open. "Yes she is, about a month along… She came to me a couple weeks ago after your first time together, cause the bleeding didn't slow or stop, That's how I knew." I flushed red, as I moved my hand, and gently touched Shang's leg. "Hey you're okay." He said as he knelt beside me, wrapping his arms around me securely. "How are you feeling?" The medic asked, kneeling down beside me. "I don't even know… I guess like dizzy and a little lightheaded?" I confessed, as Shang said "I'm not surprised, you hit your head pretty hard." The medic said "He's right, It should go away in a day or two. Till then you need to take it easy, and eat as much as you can."

Shang said "I'll pull her from training for a couple days, and makes sure she eats… But will the baby be okay?" "The baby will be just fine, as long as you follow my instructions." I nodded. Shang helped me to my tent, and eased me onto the mattress. "Where was everyone?" I asked. "Sleeping. It's after midnight, after all. I did save you some food, if you feel like eating?" I nodded, as I ate the food he sat in front of me. "Thank you, I am actually feeling a little better." Shang smiled as he moved the dishes away. "Good. Now lay down and try to get some sleep. I'll protect you." he laid beside me, as we slept. In the morning I woke to him moving. "Go back to sleep sweetie." I nodded, and tried to fall back asleep, but only for a half hour, which is when Shang returned gently nudging me. "Hey. Get in your uniform, We need to move out in 20 minutes." He whispered, as I got up. Once I was dressed, I disassembled my tent, loading it onto Khan, as I felt a hand on my waist. I elbowed it off, spinning around and knocking the other person to the ground, before I realized it was Shang. "Shang… I'm…" He stood, and immediately took my hand in his.

"It's my fault, I should've made my presence known. You will be riding, on your horse, for the journey. As far as the others know, you are recovering from an illness." I nodded. "Thank you." He nodded, as we got to the others. "Alright…" He said as He got on his horse, before I struggled to get on mine. "Here Ping." Cricket's voice said, as he helped me up. "Thanks." Cricket, smiled. He was Chien Po's twin brother, yet they way they were built was completely different. We started the journey, the men were singing what they dreamed in a woman, I just rolled my eyes discreetly, my eyes focusing on Shang. The singing cut off, when we reached a completely destroyed village. I entered one of the homes, which is when I heard footsteps. "Mulan?" the voice whispered. I turned smiling a little. "Are you feeling alright?" His arm slid around my waist. "Not entirely." He kissed my head before we heard "Captain!" We went to Chi Fu and gazed below, seeing the dead bodies of the General's regimen. "The General." Chien Po whispered handing Shang the helmet. Shang walked away from the group, which is when I followed him. "I'm Sorry…." Shang stood looking to me, gratefully, but didn't say anything.

We made it to the Toung shou pass, by morning. Just then arrows were flying at us. "Get out of Range!" Shang ordered, as we ran to get to the safe side, but I smelt something weird. "Shang!" I said as I hopped off Khan and gently tried to calm him "Save the cannons!" Shang said, as he helped free Khan, as we took off. "Fire!" We fired the cannons, until there was one left. "Hold the last cannon!" The fog was clearing, and we saw the enemy on the ridge. "Prepare to fight. If we die, We die with honor." His eyes met mine for a moment, as he mouthed. "I love you." I mouthed it back as I grabbed the last cannon ran in the middle of the battlefield and fired it at the mountain. My plan worked in the cause of the avalanche, but Shan Yu was in front of me, and sliced my arm. "AH." I stood up, and ran back towards the others, Khan had escaped the soldier who held him, and came to help I hopped on, and grabbed Shang's hand as he swung up and rode to the safe side, making it just in time and missing a potentially dangerous situation.

"Ping you are the craziest man I ever met." Shang whispered, as the snow stopped rolling. Cheers of my name, my boy name raised through the mountains. "Ah.." I groaned, clutching my arm. "Hang on. Get Help." He ordered the other soldiers, before his attention was solely on me. "I love you" He whispered so low only I could hear. "Hang on."
