The upper room of the Summit residence was, as always, a complete mess. Anyone entering from the outside would think that a tornado had swept through, given how disorganized everything was. In the midst of this chaos, there was a boy with yellow hair, Takayama, sprawled amidst the clothes, wearing a long-sleeved purple shirt and blue shorts. A black bandana, featuring a poorly drawn fish right in the middle, adorned his head.

Takayama groaned and shifted among the disarray of clothes, trying to find his way out. He blinked at the daylight streaming through the window. His face scrunched up as he struggled to remember what had woken him.

Takayama: "Ugh, today is...important, right? But what?"

Takayama wracked his brain, his fingers combing through his messy hair. All he could think of was the upcoming Indigo League matches, but that didn't quite fit the bill.

Takayama: "Could it be one of those psycho-whatever days? If so, Red's probably behind it."

With an exasperated sigh, Takayama finally managed to free himself from the tangled sheets and clothes. He decided it was time to face the day and inched his way to the bedroom door.

Cautiously opening the door, Takayama stumbled into the hallway, attempting to stand upright. He found his balance and, step by step, descended the staircase. His journey led him to the living room, where his mother, Hikari Summit, was reclining on the sofa.

Hikari: "Ah, you're finally awake. Good morning, Taka-kun."

Takayama: "Good morning, Mom."

Hikari: "Aren't you forgetting something?"

Takayama scratched his head.

Takayama: "Hmm, I think I am. Is there something important today?"

Takayama gazed into the distance, trying to recall. All that came to mind were the forthcoming Indigo League matches.

Hikari: "I'm not sure. Maybe today is the day you get your starter Pokémon?"

That statement jolted Takayama awake.

Takayama: "Starter Pokémon! What time is it?"

In a frenzied search, he rummaged around for his phone. Hikari reassured him.

Hikari: "Don't worry, it's only 8:00. You still have an hour."

Takayama released a sigh of relief.

Takayama: "Phew, I thought I'd have to sprint there. All right, I'm good now. Is there something to eat?"

Hikari: "There are snacks in the fridge. Help yourself."

Takayama: "Thanks, Mom. I'll grab a quick snack and head over to get my Pokémon, okay?"

Hikari: "Sure, just call me when you're done."

Takayama devoured a generous snack, dashed for a quick shower, changed into more formal attire, and departed at exactly 8:30. He was aware that it wouldn't take long to reach Professor Oak's lab, as it was conveniently located just across the street.

As he entered the lab, he noticed his friends, Red and Blue, already present, engrossed in their activities.

Red sat serenely in a chair, engrossed in a book, while Blue sprawled on the floor, indulging in a sweet treat. Both turned to greet Takayama.

Takayama: "Yooo, how's it going?"

Red and Blue turned toward him, acknowledging his arrival. Blue had a mischievous grin.

Blue: "Heading to become a Trainer, huh? I thought you were aiming for Silph Co."

Takayama: "I was, but Mom convinced me to become a Trainer."

Red: "That's great. You've got real potential."

Takayama: "Thanks. Will it be just us three getting starters, or are more people joining?"

Blue got up from the floor, his face reflecting a sense of intrigue. He mumbled to himself and then addressed Takayama.

Blue: "I think the old man mentioned that two more folks would join, probably from Hoenn."

Takayama was taken aback.

Takayama: "Hoenn?"

Blue: "Yep, there's a chance that your friend might return, all set to become a Pokémon Trainer."

Takayama: "Wow, that's incredible. I'm even more excited now."

With some time to spare, Takayama decided to explore the lab. He came across a massive type chart with 17 types, including a newcomer - the Fairy type, recently discovered in Kalos. He spent a while studying the chart, reflecting on the complexities of type matchups.

Blue and Red eventually joined him, and the three friends engaged in a spirited conversation about their plans and strategies for the upcoming adventure.

Suddenly, the lab's door swung open once more. In walked two individuals from Hoenn. The first was Elizabeth, with her waist-length white hair, donning a simple pink shirt and dark pants, and the second, a more sun-kissed companion, who wore a red cap, a purple shirt, a blue skirt, and white sneakers.

Takayama couldn't contain his excitement and dashed towards Elizabeth.

Takayama: "BETTY!"

Elizabeth grinned and embraced him, their laughter filling the room as they reunited.

Takayama: "Hey, Betty! How was Hoenn? I didn't expect to see you here so soon. I thought you'd come after I became the champion."

Elizabeth: "Ha, it was amazing in Hoenn, and now I'm going to become the champion before you."

Their banter subsided as they turned to Red and Blue.

Elizabeth: "Hello, Red, Blue. It's good to see you again."

Blue: "Welcome back, Elizabeth."

Red: "Yes, welcome."

Elizabeth: "Well, I'd like you to meet my friend who came with me from Hoenn."

Elizabeth introduced Leaf, the girl with the red cap, who stood close by.

Elizabeth: "Blue, Red, Taka, this is Leaf."

Leaf shyly greeted her new acquaintances.

Blue: "Yoo."

Takayama: "Hey, nice to meet you."

Red: "Welcome to Pallet Town."

Leaf: "Um, thank you very much. My name is Leaf, Leaf Turner. I hope we can be best friends."

Elizabeth chimed in.

Elizabeth: "I'm sure you'll all get along. They're wonderful people. By the way, where did Professor Oak go? With the current state of Kanto, we'd better have Pokémon soon. Who knows, Articuno might appear in the Viridian Forest and give us some trouble?"

Red couldn't help but agree.

Red: "Given the circumstances, it's not impossible."

Just then, Professor Oak reappeared, clutching an object containing five Poké Balls. Takayama couldn't help but feel his heart race as he saw the Grass, Fire, and Water type Poké Balls. The other two were likely Electric and Normal types.

Takayama: "It's time, isn't it?"

Red: "It sure is."

Blue: "Let's get this show on the road."

Leaf seemed a bit nervous, fidgeting with the brim of her cap.

Leaf: "But how do we choose?"

Elizabeth grinned mischievously, stepping forward.

Elizabeth: "I've got an idea, Professor! How about a good old-fashioned drawing lots? We could each take a piece of paper, and the starters would be assigned randomly."

Professor Oak's eyes twinkled with amusement.

Professor Oak: "An excellent idea, Elizabeth. It's a fair and exciting way to start your journey."

He then took a piece of paper from a research notebook that he would no longer use and began writing down the names of the Pokémon.

After a few seconds he crumpled each paper twice, so that they all looked the same.

Red, Blue, Takayama, and Leaf each took a slip of paper from Professor Oak, and with bated breath, they unfolded them. The anticipation in the room was palpable as they revealed their choices.

Takayama: "I got Bulbasaur!"

Blue: "Charmander!"

Red: "Squirtle is mine!"

Elizabeth: "I got... Eevee"

Leaf: "And I have Pikachu!"

Excitement bubbled within the group as they admired their newly assigned partners.

Elizabeth: "This is fantastic! Now we're ready to begin our adventure together!"

Takayama- "YEAH, LET'S GO SAUR!!!!"

As soon as Takayama had his hands on the Pokéball he immediately clicked the middle button, releasing the bulbasaur to the ground.

Takayama- "i shall name you Saur!"

Saur- "Bulba?"
