Chapter 54: Investigating The Black Substance.
(Quantic Universe Earth 19274729568301958374, Paris, France, March 2nd, 2016, third person POV...)
In Marinette's bedroom, Marinette is typing in her journal the ending logs of the latest entry as she says, "Last night, a Trash Krakken was destroyed in New York and returned to normal. But my foreknowledge dictates that the supervillain responsible for this mess, Night Bat, is somewhere in hiding in the big city. But it's only a matter of time before we find him and it's only a matter of time before we find out precisely what his tar-like substance does aside from turning Kevin Kramer into the Trash Krakken by usage of his daughter's plush toy. Somebody knows where he is. Somebody knows. And I'll make sure my allies find out where and who, one way or another. And if any of my allies come up empty, I'll have to do it myself. Signing off."
Marinette saves her journal log and closes out the tab before engaging the security protocols.
Marinette then says, "Team, status report."
All of them sent negative messages that said in different words that they came up empty.
Marinette then says, "Okay. Return to home base and recuperate; I have a feeling that we'll need everyone available if we find Night Bat's headquarters."
Everyone sent affirmatives of different kinds.
After Marinette hangs up, Tikki asks, "Any theories on where in New York City this so-called Night Bat could be hiding?"
Marinette answers, "Knowing most comic book supervillains from Marvel Comics, they try to hide in areas of the city that are protected by superheroes and vigilantes alike, such as the area called Hell's Kitchen being protected by Matthew Murdock as The Daredevil, and such as the Harlem district being protected by Luke Cage aka Power Man, one of the few superheroes with bulletproof durability who can still be hurt by those like The Rhino and who only knows who to fight using his expertise in boxing and street-fighting. But of course, this literally means Cage is by no means able to take on even the lesser ninja members of the ninja group known as The Hand, which has frequent run-ins with Daredevil and Iron Fist."
Tikki replies, "Oh."
Marinette then displays her maps of the areas in New York protected by Marvel, DC Comics, Mirage Comics, Image Comics, Zagtoons, and other kinds of comic book, cartoon, movie, and video game superheroes and supervillains, as well as areas of the city protected by members of the United Heroez in the universe of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, much to Tikki's shock at how thorough her owner was in deducing where these heroes and villains lived. And Marinette points to several areas protected by superheroes and frequented by supervillains from both the Quantic Omniverse and other forms of superhero/supervillain fiction while saying, "This area of Manhattan is primarily a residence for Walter Joseph Kovacs aka Rorschach even though he worked outside of the law to continue to fight crime even when the Keene Act was passed into law in the Watchmen franchise. This area is where the location called The Bar With No Name frequented by supervillains and criminals alike happens to be, frequented by even supervillains and criminals with grudges against each other despite the bans on superpowers, weapons, and fighting each other. This area of Hell's Kitchen is protected by not just Jessica Jones, but also by both Daredevil and Frank Castle aka The Punisher. This area of the city is one of many locations frequented by Norman Osborn aka The Green Goblin for his hideouts and secret retreats. This area of the city in the sky is primarily where the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier floats over and also where the S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nicholas Joseph Fury lives when he's taking care of civilian obligations. This area is the most frequented by Maxwell Dillon aka Electro whenever he wants a place to hunker down to escape police heat. This area of the city is where the Avengers Mansion in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes is located, as well as where Clint Barton aka Hawkeye lives. This area is where Techno-Pirate goes to for his secret hideout that not even the United Heroez know about whenever he escapes from prison. This area of the city is where Marc Spector aka Moon Knight lives. This area is where Majestia previously imprisoned her evil sister Ignoblia after the last time they fought each other several years ago. This area is where Tyrone Johnson and Tandy Bowen aka Cloak and Dagger live. This area is where the fashion designer Roderick Kingsley used to live before he was unmasked as the first iteration of The Hobgoblin. This area is the place where Doctor Stephen Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum is located. This area is where Baron Mordo tried to summon the ultimate Marvel Comics demon overlord Dormammu to Earth. This area is protected by the Ghostbusters in their movies. This area is where the Ghost Rider's demon enemies congregate with magical protections against even the Ghost Rider if in the event he senses them there. This area of the Brooklyn borough is where the second incarnation of Spider-Man in the Ultimate Spider-Man comics, real name Miles Morales, lives. This area is where the Oscorp building is, and also where the Green Goblin was born. This area of Brooklyn is called Ray City and it's protected by Albert Simmons aka Hellspawn or Spawn. This area is where the X-Men mansion owned by Charles Xavier from the time he inherited it from his late mother happens to be located at. This area is frequented by none other than Herman Schulz aka The Shocker for whenever he does deals with New York's criminal underbelly. This area of the Brooklyn sewers are where the X-Men group The Morlocks lives. This area is where the Trash Krakken had his rampage just yesterday. This area of Queens is where Peter Benjamin Parker aka the first iteration of Spider-Man lived in his childhood with his aunt and uncle before his uncle was gunned down. This area is where Cain Marko aka The Juggernaut was born and raised in before the Vietnam War. This area of the sewers in Manhattan is where the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and their sensei, Hamato Yoshi/Hamato Splinter, live. This area of the city is where the skyscraper headquarters of the Utrom Shredder's Foot Clan used to be in the 2003 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon. This area of the city is where the Fantastic Four's headquarters, the Baxter Building, is located. This area is where the Herald of Galactus, the Silver Surfer, was to emerge from when Galactus sets his sights on Earth for consumption. This area of Brooklyn is where the Magicians member Quentin Coldwater lives. This area of Manhattan is frequented by Max Eisenhardt aka Magneto for his diabolical goals of mutant supremacy. This area of Brooklyn is where The Purple Heart lives. This area of Manhattan is frequented by another United Heroez enemy, Steel Black. This area of Brooklyn is protected by the Brooklynite. This part of Brooklyn is frequented by Wolf Razor, another enemy of the United Heroez. This part of Manhattan is protected by Mercedes Misty Knight, before and after the incident that cost her her organic right arm and thus required the need for a prosthetic replacement. This area of Manhattan is frequented by yet another United Heroez nemesis, Heavy Metal Plague. This area of Manhattan is protected by Peter Petrelli in Heroes. This part of The Bronx is frequented by Killer Kill, one of the less frequent member of the United Heroez' rogues gallery and one of the few but still many of their enemies who has no qualms about killing people. This area of Manhattan and Central Park is where Castle Wyvern aka the Eyrie Building is located, and it's protected by The Gargoyles. This area of Battery Park is frequented by Red Wolf whenever he breaks out of prison after leading the police and the United Heroez on a new original wild goose chase. This area of the city is used for Stark Tower in The Avengers all the way to Captain America: Civil War. This area of the city is frequented by both Blue Fang and Navy Skull whenever they team up after breaking out of prison and after leading the United Heroez astray with both a wild goose chase and an assortment of their clones. This area of Manhattan is where Daniel Rand aka Iron Fist lives. This area is where Doctor Otto Gunther Octavius aka Doctor Octopus tends to congregate and/or retreat to whenever he's planning revenge on Spider-Man. This area of Queens is frequented by Sonic Killer whenever he wants to kill a member of the United Heroez for imprisoning him. And this area of New York is Brooklyn Heights, and it is also the location protected by Captain America. And so, by cross-referencing secret sightings of Night Bat, I think I can determine his general location, his real name, his motives, everything he owns that can give him an edge or a ticket out of prison, and what his connection is to that glittery tar that turned Mr. Kramer into the Trash Krakken."
Tikki then says, "Wow! You mean we won't have to deal with the Trash Krakken or anyone similar to him anymore?"
Marinette adds, "And if the United Heroez gets an additional break from having to deal with supervillains and monsters similar to both the Trash Krakken and Night Bat, that's an added bonus."
Marinette then gets to work.
After two hours of research, Marinette then says, "Aha! I've narrowed down his general location!"
Marinette and Tikki look closer at the location, and they say in unison, "The location of the New York Bar With No Name?!" "The location of the New York Bar With No Name?!"
Marinette and Tikki zoom in on the name of the building in the photo, and it reads, "The Dusk Haven."
Marinette remarks, "The Dusk Haven. Somewhat clever, but not exactly one hundred percent original."
Marinette presses a button, and a comparison is shown between Night Bat and his real identity of Milo McKnight, a disgruntled former priest who gained his powers from experimentation with baby owls and baby bats combined with a super soldier serum that President Hombee had banned in accordance with the Co. v. Botsford 141 U.S. 250 1891 Page 15 of the U.S. Constitution's Fifth Amendment, but modified to include unethical physical animal experimentation.
Marinette then says, "Well, for this former priest, his fate on Judgement Day has been sealed, and part of that will commence as soon as I get in contact with someone from the United Heroez about this while providing them with the evidence."
Tikki then growls, "Grrrr... a former priest like him experimenting on some of God's creations?! When I get my hands on him, he'll be the first human in centuries I smite!"
Marinette then points out, "If that was ever traced to you, I'd be forced to create an anti-magic prison to keep you imprisoned while unethical members of the U.S. government would be experimenting on you to create a new age of magical technology, magical weaponry, or even worse, creating magic-enhanced super soldiers to create a new kind of World War III that would risk invoking God's wrath in the last days."
Tikki sighs in response before saying, "You're right, Marinette. I'm sorry."
Marinette gently pats Tikki's head three times before going onto her computer to look up the United Heroez patrol schedule.
At the same time, Marinette says into her commlink, "This is Ladybug calling all 1,043 active members of the French Miraculous Superhero Team. I got a lead on the glittery tar that turned Kevin Kramer into the Trash Krakken yesterday."
2 hours later, in New York City, Ladybug and her team allow themselves to be heard flying during Majestia's daylight patrol.
Majestia questions, "The French Miraculous Superhero Team? Here? What are they doing here?"
Ladybug answers Majestia's question as she slowly descends from the clouds, "I got a lead on the tar-like substance that turned Kevin Kramer into the Trash Krakken that I believe warrants an immediate debriefing."
Majestia questions incredulously, "You got a lead just one day after we first met and first teamed up against the Trash Krakken?! I guess the unexpected tends to happen at some point."
Ladybug then says while handing Majestia the printed, unhackable files, "The substance comes from the power of making such substances capable of turning anyone into any kind of elemental monster as long as the victims touch the substances covering any object aside from plush toys. The creator of this substance is this man, the true identity of Night Bat: Milo McKnight, the owner of the Dusk Haven in the same location as the New York-based Bar With No Name."
Majestia reads the file through speed reading, and her eyes widened in shock.
Majestia then says, "Thank you for this information, Ladybug."
Ladybug replies, "No problem, but don't engage Night Bat alone; you'll need our forces and my powers to assist you all."
Majestia nods before flying all around the United States to warn her allies about the discovery and the intel needed.
Minutes later, Ladybug, Victory, and their combined forces stood atop one of the buildings overlooking the Dusk Haven, with their infiltration squads and their breaker squads ready to be deployed, and with their main assault forces ready to be deployed if in the event the first squads were discovered early.
Ladybug snarls, "It's time to finish this once and for all. We're not taking any chances. We must capture Night Bat and any of his forces at all costs, and if any of them refuse to come quietly, kill them. And if the media complains about it, give them a good enough excuse."
Knightowl then gives the signal, and the first squads go on in through the back doors, the sewer entrances, and anywhere else that doesn't have motion sensors, security cameras, or guards.
Ladybug mentally says to herself, "This ends now, Night Bat."
To be concluded...
