Chapter 60: Troublemaker vs. Meditator.

(Quantic Universe Earth 19274729568301958374, Paris, France, March 15th, 2016, third person POV...)

In Jagged Stone's suite at the Grand Paris Hotel, Penny Rolling heads to the door while checking off tasks on her to-do list with her clickable ballpoint pen and while Jagged plays fetch with Fang using soccer balls.

Penny says to Armand, "Mr. Stone would like his breakfast brought to him on the back of a polar bear. Could you arrange that for me, please?"

Inside the suite, Jagged calls out, "Fang! Fetch!" and he throws a soccer ball, prompting Fang to run after it.

Armand then says before asking, "Uh... I'll see what I can do, Miss Penny. Will zat be all?"

Penny nods as she hears her phone ringing, and she picks up, "Yes, a red-eye flight would be acceptable. Jagged's pet crocodile Fang hates flying in the daytime."

Fang then notices Armand leaving, and Penny says on the phone, "Thank you very much."

Penny hangs up, and then, Bob Roth's permanent replacement, Tommy Raymundo, knocks on the door, and Penny lets him in.

Penny then asks, "Did you find an idea for Jagged's new album being marked?"

Tommy answers, "Yes, Penny. Jagged is gonna be the star of a baking reality show."

Penny remarks, "If Bob Roth hadn't been fired and replaced and arrested, he would've suggested putting Jagged on Rocker Wants A Wife."

Tommy answers, "I know. Bob was absolutely horrible."

Jagged is seen standing on top of a grand piano, also with soccer balls on it.

Jagged then asks, "Penny, did you remember to order those macaroons for Fang?"

Penny answers, "Yes, I did, thankfully."

Tommy then says, "Jagged, I had an idea to make your new album go platinum, but before we pull it off, I need your opinion on it."

Jagged asks, "Why?"

Tommy answers, "Because, if Robbie hadn't been fired, replaced, and arrested, he would've tried forcing you to star on that horrendous money-greedy show, Rocker Wants A Wife."

Jagged snorts as he replies, "Good point."

Tommy then explains, "I was thinking of having you star on a baking reality show, so you can learn how to bake things. And besides, for clarification, baking is hard because there actually is a difference between baking cheap tubed cookie dough and baking a wedding cake from scratch."

Jagged remarks in surprise, "There is a difference? Huh. I didn't know that."

Tommy then says, "Anyway, I had an idea for where this reality show can be held: Tom and Sabine's Boulangerie Patisserie, run by Tom Dupain, Sabine Cheng, and their daughter Marinette Dupain-Cheng."

Jagged then asks, "And do they use inorganic flour? Because I'm allergic to inorganic flour."

Tommy replies, "I triple-checked their reviews and recipes online, and they always use 100% organic recipes in their food."

Jagged sighs in relief.

Meanwhile, at Tom and Sabine Boulangerie Patisserie, a crowd of cheering Jagged Stone fans is accumulated outside.

And inside the bakery, Alec Cataldi's permanent replacement, Diesel d'Ailleboust, is introducing a TV show called Fill My Shoes.

Diesel says as the camera films him, "Welcome to Fill My Shoes, ladies and gentlemen! You're joining us live in a new episode, and our guest today is the one and only Jagged Stone!"

Jagged sings as he plays air guitar, "#Rock and roll, yeah!#"

Diesel then says, "Today, Jagged is filling the shoes of... a baker!"

Jagged says into the camera, "Yo, rockers!"

Diesel then remarks, "And we'd like to give a big thanks to Tom Dupain for having us here in his and his wife's bakery, which happens to be the best in Paris. No joke."

He gestures Tom to come over.

Tom, having been invigorated by Marinette's ability to empower someone's courage, steps forward and says on-screen, "Hello, Paris, and welcome to not only the show, but also our bakery."

Tommy, Penny, and the crew are off to the side when Sabine approaches them with a tray of croissants.

Sabine asks them, "Excuse me, guys, would you like some fresh, hot croissants?"

The camera crew, Penny, and Tommy each take one croissant and they start politely eating them while walking away.

Marinette walks up to her mother while holding a thermos of homemade lemonade, and Sabine looks worried.

Sabine whispers, "(Softly) Your powers aside, I'm not sure it was a good idea to let them film the show here, sweetie."

Marinette whispers back, "(Softly) I know, but what choice do we have, Mom? Not only do we have to somewhat keep Penny's first ever Akumatization into Troublemaker in chronological order, but we also have to make sure that our bakery's fame spreads throughout to the countryside of Paris and beyond the French borders. Besides, Jagged and Tommy specifically asked to come to our bakery. Do you realize what our newfound fame could entail? (Sabine: No.) Not only teaching people how to bake, but also spreading our fame and increasing our income to not only buy things we need like food, clothing, and paying bills and rent, but also increasing our income so that we have extra amounts of money to donate. I'm just that generous. Besides, even if neither of us wanted to become celebrities in the first place, sometimes people who cook food become famous in their own ways aside from appearing on cooking shows and cooking competitions."

Sabine replies in a whisper, "(Softly) Well, that's a lot of good points, I'll admit. Anyway, good call on empowering your dad's courage."

Jagged then follows Tom's instructions for preparing dough.

Tom then says, "Nice work, Jagged. Remember, it's all about being gentle with things like dough when you want to bake something. Now, when it comes to baking bread, you'd need specific types of ingredients like specific types of yeast or specific types of flour."

Tillyan is also off to the side, watching the broadcast happening, thankful that another advantage of her human form and the human forms of her clones along with Marinette's own clones is that they could all be passed off as extra residents, extra workers, and Marinette's adopted family to give Marinette and her parents extra hands.

Meanwhile, Penny is perfectly keeping Fang under control.

Penny fiddles with her pen while gently petting Fang.

Marinette then asks, "Is everything all right, Miss Penny?"

Penny answers, "Yes, everything's fine. It's just, this show was Tommy's idea as much as it was my idea, Jagged's putting all of his trust in the both of us, and I just hope that everything goes well today."

Marinette then says gently, "Have faith, madam; good things come to those who wait patiently, and great rewards come to those who give their best efforts as best as they can afford. After all, not everything is perfect, just as much as nobody on Earth is perfect."

Penny nods, clearly thinking about how to put Marinette's words into action.

Diesel then inquires, "So, Jagged, how does it feel to fill the shoes of a baker today?"

Jagged replies, "It's awesome! Check out this edible guitar I made from scratch! (He shows a bread-guitar) This is so rock 'n' roll! (To the tune of Smoke On The Water) #Flour, eggs, and butter!"

Penny chuckles, but Marinette is struggling to keep her hysterical laughter contained.

Sabine asks worriedly, "Marinette, you don't think it's that funny, do you?"

Marinette clears her throat as she answers, "Sorry; sometimes, I have a hard time keeping myself under control, even when unfunny things happen."

Sabine then questions, "So, Miss Penny, what's it like to work with a star like Jagged Stone? He seems so cool!"

Penny remarks dreamily before backtracking as she also says, "Oh, yes. He's... wonderful – Uh, I mean, yes, he's awesome."

Marinette gives Penny a know-it-all look while she smirks evilly, baring her somewhat sharp teeth, making Penny gulp nervously.

Meanwhile, in Adrien's room, Adrien is watching the broadcast, and Tom and Jagged sing in unison to the tune of Smoke On The Water, "#Flour, eggs, and butter, and fire in the oven!#" "#Flour, eggs, and butter, and fire in the oven!#"

Adrien cackles hysterically, "Hahahahahahahahahaha! Marinette said that this song was funny, but I didn't think she was serious! #H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S!#"

Plagg says as he finishes chewing on a piece of Brie cheese, "Oh, that's rich; an impromptu song to the tune of Smoke On The Water. But in all seriousness, this Brie cheese is better than Camembert cheese, and less smelly."

Adrien replies, "See? I told you so."

Meanwhile, back at the bakery, Tom and Jagged finish singing with Diesel in between them, "#This is the baker's rock'n'roll!#" "#This is the baker's rock'n'roll!#"

Jagged then says, "Yo, Marinette, my favorite big lady, come over here and rock out with us!"

Marinette replies, "Gladly."

Marinette walks over to the three men, waving to the camera and smiling along the way.

Diesel and Tommy look a bit apprehensive at Marinette's smile, considering the fact that she has slightly sharp teeth.

In Adrien's bedroom, Adrien remarks, "You go, Marinette. You rocked that impromptu catwalk."

In the broadcast, Jagged says to Marinette before explaining to Diesel, "It's so amazing that we get to spend the day together. Marinette's really talented, Diesel; she did the artwork for my latest album, (The cover of Rock Giant is briefly shown on-screen) and she's only in high school!"

Diesel replies before asking, "Wow! Awesome! A true family of artists: a talented young designer and a gifted patissier. By the way, what are you planning to bake for us today, Tom?"

Tom answers before asking Marinette, "How about some chocolate and lemon croissants? Can you please grab a bag of flour, dear?"

Marinette replies, "Certainly, Dad."

Marinette grabs a bag of flour after removing the wooden spatula, but then, a second wooden spatula launches two bags of flour in the air, and even when Marinette catches the second spatula, she shrieks as she closes her eyes quickly when the bags of flour land on her and Jagged respectively.

Marinette and Jagged look as white as snow even though their clothes are only partially covered in flour.

Sabine remarks, "Uh-oh."

Marinette bares her teeth as she growls animalistically, making everyone except for Jagged back away.

Jagged remarks, "Hey, look! We look like ghosts! Rock 'n' Boo-Hoo! Hahahahahahahahahahaha!"

Marinette then storms off, and Jagged then asks, "Hey, Marinette, where are you going?"

Marinette doesn't answer as she slams the door to the apartment.

Diesel then says, "Apparently, making pastries is no piece of cake no matter how careful you are, and apparently, even the kindest of souls can have the nastiest of tempers. Stay tuned; we'll be right back after this commercial break!"

The cameraman then says, "And cut!"

Diesel then comes up to Tommy and says, "Hi, Tommy!" and he shakes Tommy's hand.

Tommy pats Diesel's back and replies, "Diesel! This is starting out very well."

Jagged then sneezes.

Sabine says, "Bless you, Jagged."

Jagged replies, "Thanks."

Penny then asks, "Um, do you think you can point us to the bathroom, please?"

Sabine answers, "Upstairs, third door on the left of the hallway leading to the kitchen."

Penny replies, "Thanks."

Penny and Jagged go up to the Dupain-Cheng apartment.

Tom then says, "Girls, boys, come on, we have some cleaning up to do."

In Marinette's bedroom, Jagged and Penny are heard as they approach the stairs that lead to Marinette's bedroom.

Penny says, "Jagged, this is leading to Marinette's bedroom."

Jagged and Penny enter Marinette's room through the trapdoor.

Jagged remarks before saying as he spots Marinette's vanity with the sink, "So, you were right; this must be Marinette's bedroom. Cool. Wait, there's a sink!"

Jagged heads over to Marinette's vanity with the sink, and Penny follows him.

Inside the bakery, Diesel and Tommy are looking at Tommy's tablet.

Tommy remarks, "Our ratings are skyrocketing!"

The cameraman then advises, "Diesel, we're back on the air in a minute!"

Diesel asks, "Where's Jagged?"

Tillyan answers, "Most likely in Marinette's bedroom, having mistaken it for the bathroom."

Diesel replies before saying to Tommy, "Thanks, Tillyan. Follow me, we'll improvise."

Tommy, Diesel, and the camera crew go up to Marinette's bedroom.

Tillyan then says, "Wait! I didn't mean for you guys to follow Jagged to Marinette's bedroom!"

She and the other workers follow the camera crew.

In Marinette's room, Jagged says as he gazes at Marinette's creations, "Hey, look! Man! Marinette's got some serious, original talent!"

Jagged then spots a poster of himself and says, "Hey!"

Jagged mimics his picture's pose and says, "I know this guy. Rock on, Jagged!"

Penny states, "We've got to hurry, Jagged!"

Jagged replies, "Yeah, yeah! Relax, Penny."

Jagged then sees Marinette's pictures of herself with Adrien, Chloe, Sabrina, Alya, and the rest of Ms. Bustier's class, and Ms. Mendeleiev's class for every occasion.

Then, Diesel, Tommy, and the camera crew appear in the bedroom.

The cameraman then says, "He's here! Come on, start shooting! In three, two, one..."

Diesel then says on the air, "And we're back on the air with Jagged Stone filling the shoes of a baker. Let's see how this rockstar cleans off all that flour."

Diesel walks over to Jagged and Penny, motioning for the audience to come along.

Jagged then says, "Hey, there's more pictures of these other kids than of me. I think the baker's daughter has a big assortment of friends! (He notices childhood pictures of Marinette and Adrien all the way to date pictures) And there are more photos of Marinette with this dude than of me too! Looks like the baker's daughter has got a little crush! (He winks at the camera)"

In Adrien's bedroom, Adrien growls, "Ugh! They couldn't leave Marinette's private life alone even if they did go to their bathroom! Plagg, Claws Out!"

Adrien transforms into Cat Noir.

Cat Noir flies off to the bakery.

In the broadcast, Jagged says, "Aww, teenage love is so sweet, it makes me want to write a song!"

Suddenly, the trapdoor slams, and everyone looks at Marinette's extremely furious Gravemaker-esque scowl, and Marinette had her fingers splayed out like claws.

And along with her, the "workers" of the bakery are also looking furious.

Jagged asks nervously, "H-he-hey, Marinette, do you, um, want me to sign this poster of me?"

Marinette then says while surprising everyone with her potty mouth, "I explicitly f(bleep!) warned you all not to film any of my secrets or enter my bedroom under any circumstances! And besides, Jagged, if I wanted to have any part of myself or my love life to be written into a song, I would've strived to become a musician instead of a designer! What the f(bleep!) hell is wrong with all of you?!"

Tommy asks, "Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?"

Marinette retorts, "No, I kiss my mother with another mouth, dummy."

Tommy looks offended.

Marinette then says threateningly while holding the cable for the camera, "You better get out of my room at the count of three before I take us off the air and have you all banned from our bakery for life, regardless of technicalities. One, two – "

Everyone scrambles out of Marinette's bedroom.

Penny then snarls at all of the people responsible, "We all could've gotten in serious trouble, and we could've had our asses handed to us by someone bigger and stronger than us! I blame Jagged for this as he didn't listen to the instructions on where the bathroom was, and I blame all of you for following us into Marinette's bedroom without asking and without listening to the implications or any explanations that Marinette's personal life is a private, sensitive matter only told to those who are willing to befriend her! All of you, get your asses back downstairs, now!"

Tommy then asks, "What do we do now?"

Penny answers, "I'll meet you downstairs in five minutes!"

Tommy nods and goes downstairs.

Everyone proceeds down to the bakery, and Jagged starts to follow along, but he glances at the living room door.

Marinette comes downstairs and sees Penny slump against the door.

In Hawk Moth's lair, Hawk Moth remarks as he senses Penny and Marinette's negative emotions while the window opens, "A dedicated assistant and a baker's daughter losing their tempers. Quite a fortuitous opportunity! And while Marinette Dupain-Cheng may be immune to my Akumas, I'm willing to bet that she isn't immune to the powers of my supervillains!"

Hawk Moth turns a butterfly into an Akuma.

He sends it off as he remarks, "Fly away, my little Akuma, and evilize her!"

The Akuma flies to the Dupain-Cheng living room, and the Akuma enters Penny's clutched ballpoint pen.

Hawk Moth remarks, "Troublemaker, I am Hawk Moth. You've always been the faithful one, taking care of other people and solving their problems. Today, you are free of that burden. From now on, you shall be the creator of all of their problems."

Penny/Troublemaker replies darkly, "Sounds like a plan, Hawk Moth."

Penny stands up, raises her pen, and clicks on it, triggering her transformation into Troublemaker.

Troublemaker enters the apartment hallway, semi transparent as her ability to phase through solid matter made her go through the door to the living room without really touching or opening anything.

Troublemaker clicks her now skull-topped pen, making herself solid again, and she picks up her discarded clipboard.

Troublemaker remarks, "Okay, so, what's next on my to-do list? Oh, I remember now; taking care of Jagged!"

Troublemaker rips the clipboard in half, drops it, cackles, and clicks her pen again, making her semi transparent again, and she makes herself phase through the floor.

Marinette then asks Meditator, "And you're sure that this plan will work?"

Meditator, real name Violet Robinson, an armored opposite color version of Troublemaker, nods.

Marinette says, "Okay. Tikki, Spots On."

Marinette transforms into Ladybug.

Down in the bakery, Tommy says, "All right, everybody, back to work, chop chop!"

Suddenly, the alarm rings and a male computer voice sounding like the Transformers Robots in Disguise 2015 Soundwave says while the self defense system activates, complete with missile turrets, laser gun turrets, bullet gun turrets, taser gun sentries, and grenade launcher sentries deploying and the bakery being put on lockdown, "Intrusion! Intrusion! Elimination mode activated!"

Troublemaker exclaims in horror, giving away her position, "What the heck is going on?! A self defense system?!"

Jagged exclaims as he and the others see Troublemaker, "Penny?!"

Troublemaker answers, "There is no more Penny to deal with all of your problems, Jagged! From now on, there's only Troublemaker! (She clicks her pen twice, briefly turning transparent) And I'll make your life nothing but problems! Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!"

Suddenly, Meditator phases through Troublemaker and grabs her pen before running away.

Troublemaker exclaims, "Hey! Give that back!"

Meditator replies as the gun sentries cock themselves, "Sure, after your funeral."

Troublemaker scowls before throwing her hands up in surrender, while Cat Noir knocks her out with a staff to the head.

Meditator then uses her powers of calming everyone down while Ladybug does her usual spiel.

As Penny awakens and she and Jagged embrace, Ladybug then says, "Thanks for your help, Meditator."

Meditator nods before flying away.

The next morning, Tom and Sabine say to Marinette as she leaves the bakery, "Have a nice day, sweetie!" "And stay out of trouble!"

Marinette waves back as she replies, "Bye, guys!"

Marinette walks to the crosswalk and stops to wait for the light to change.

Marinette then says telepathically to Tikki, "Admittedly, I wanted to keep Penny's Akumatization into Troublemaker going in chronological order to prevent Hawk Moth from Akumatizing someone else and thereby make our jobs harder, but after what happened yesterday, I am never, ever, EVER, going to have any more of your universe's shows filmed in the bakery again!"

Tikki replies telepathically, "Agreed, Marinette. Who knows how much trouble we would've been in if Mr. Agreste had seen your journals and your other records of your identities and foreknowledge?"

Marinette replies back telepathically, "Let's not hex it, for I have a feeling we'll end up finding out the hard way in some form."

Marinette crosses the street during a red light, and she enters a creeping stance.

At Francoise Dupont, Marinette enters the building silently, staying close to the walls without even humming anything, as she does this.

In the courtyard, Nino and Alya are standing by the bottom of the first stairwell, talking.

Marinette silently gets past them without being seen or heard.

Nino and Alya glance to the right when they thought they heard something, but they don't see anything.

They resume their discussion.

Then, Marinette conceals herself behind the doors to the girls' locker room the moment they swing open as Chloe and Sabrina emerge, with Chloe saying, "Yeah, that was a disaster waiting to happen, not gonna lie."

Marinette then carefully and gracefully enters the locker room without making so much as a peep.

In the locker room, Marinette walks over to her locker, opens it, and places her backpack on the upper shelf inside of it.

Marinette then says, "You can come out now, Adrien; I know you're there."

Marinette closes the door and sees Adrien standing behind it, and he says before asking and before clarifying, "Hi, Mari. How are you? Outside of still being salty about not being listened to, to put it politely."

Marinette answers, "Well, I'm fine, for the most part, but if I need support, I'll be sure to ask you, as well as Mom, Dad, and Alya. And even Tikki. Simply because I know I can count on all of you, and I love you all."

Adrien then says, "After what happened at your place last night, even if it was a fallback plan we had to implement because of changes, I was worried that you'd end up defeated or murdered before you could transform into Ladybug."

Marinette then says before asking, "Ah, so you watched the show, then? (Adrien: Mm-hmm.) So, aside from my orders being disobeyed, what did you have to say about the pictures?"

Adrien answers, "Well, admittedly, I was surprised that you wanted to make a big photo album of the times we and our friends spent together, with either one of us or some of us or all of us. But also admittedly, I've gotten used to having fans, I've gotten used to hearing fans profess their love for me if it wasn't for Dad teaching me how to recognize gold diggers and other people who love teenagers like me who are rich and who are obsessed with money, and I've gotten used to pictures of me being everywhere, even in the most unlikely of places."

Marinette then says seriously, "Well, I hope you know, I wouldn't even want to have pictures of you under my bed, because that's stalkerish and unprofessional."

Adrien replies before saying, "Good to know and hear. Anyway, I was wondering. Since you're into fashion because of people like and other than my dad, would you like to come to my next photo shoot here in Paris?"

Marinette answers before saying, "Yes, please. But please, don't get any ideas if you see me packing food, because it'd be for you and for your photo shoot staff and your bodyguard."

Adrien nods in understanding as he replies back before eventually asking, "Understandable, and honestly, sometimes the photo shoots tend to take too long regardless of how prepared and well-rested I am, with and without my clones, and sometimes my photo shoots are boring, but if you were there, it would definitely make me have a much brighter smile. What do you say?"

Marinette answers, "Sounds good to me. Thank you for this offer, Adrien."

Adrien replies and then says, "You're welcome. I'll keep you notified. See you later in class."

Adrien goes to leave, but then he stops and looks at Marinette, prompting her to raise an eyebrow.

Adrien then says, "I'm glad to have you as the girl of my dreams, Marinette, even if my father won't approve or sing praises about it even in prison."

Adrien walks to the door, opens it, looks back, and waves goodbye, making Marinette reciprocate the goodbye waving.

Adrien leaves.

Tikki emerges from Marinette's purse and asks, "So, is that what you wanted to hear?"

Marinette answers before saying, "And it was something that needed to be said, even if those like Iris Verdi tend to boo at things like that. All the same, it's a true honor to be at Adrien's photo shoots whenever arranged ahead of time, and it's a true honor to be Ladybug and to be one of the future Co-Guardians of the Chinese Zodiac Miracle Box."

Tikki replies before saying, "Yeah, it's a true honor to work and live alongside you, Marinette. And you managed to avoid suspicions unlike your canon counterparts altogether."

Marinette and Tikki cackle in unison before giving each other la bise.

The End.
