Isekai'd as the new French Miraculous Superhero Team.
Chapter 69: Defender vs. Riposte.
(Quantic Universe Earth 19274729568301958374, Paris, France, April 7th, 2016, third person POV...)
In the Francoise Dupont locker room, Marinette is trying to find a fencing helmet that fits perfectly.
Ever since Master Fu told her and Adrien all about the other powers of the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculouses – most of which Marinette, and Adrien by extension because of timeline viewing, had recognized as superpowers from Miraculous Ladybug fanfictions all across the fanfiction websites of her old Earth, and some of them including powers unlocked by Akumatization and/or powers that were removed during the production of the Stormy Weather episode of the final product – the first thing Marinette decided to do while they had the chance and while managing to avoid suspicions was take up fencing.
This led her to try the try-outs for Armand D'Argencourt's fencing team for his fencing academy, the most prestigious one in Paris, simply because Adrien suggested it at the same time Marinette said out loud she would do it anyway, and that caused them to laugh until they composed themselves to continue the debate.
And of course, in the weeks since the Volpina and Collector incidents, while they were using Marinette's connection to the Rabbit Miraculous with Alix's permission as she started to get the hang of time travel while obeying Marinette's rules, Ladybug and Cat Noir took the time in the night time and in the sunrise hours of the daytime in the countryside of Spain to practice fencing, swordfighting, and using a staff while reviewing the official rules of fencing, swordfighting, and Bojutsu.
Tikki remarks, "This fencing gear really does fit you, Marinette."
Marinette replies as she chooses a fencing helmet and puts it on, "Thanks, Tikki. Let's just hope and pray that using a fencing saber is easier than finding a fencing helmet that actually fits. Especially since I want to further sharpen my skills of using swords and staves."
The helmet slips to the right and Marinette growls.
Tikki starts laughing in response.
Marinette pulls the helmet off and retorts before saying, "You wouldn't be laughing if you were in my position just now. Regardless, I have to give it my all to complete these try-outs. D'Argencourt is the most academically advanced fencing academy in the whole of Paris. This is my first and only opportunity to show them what I've got and get onto the team. And of course, it'll help to further sharpen my melee weapon skills."
Tikki replies, "You've been reviewing the rules and technicalities all weekend and over the past weeks in the past. It'll be great!"
Marinette replies back, "Yeah, but some of the more modern technicalities are gonna be a bit of a hassle to memorize, even when taking into account what's supposed to happen and what isn't, D'Argencourt's mannerisms aside."
Marinette then selects a helmet fitting for her head size and she remarks, "Ah, yes, there we go."
In the courtyard of Francoise Dupont, Armand D'Argencourt remarks, "I am the fencing master, Mr. D'Argencourt. As I'm certain you're aware, we have only one open spot on the team this year. (He stops and faces the challengers) So, in order to select the best potential candidate, I will observe the beginners performing an assortment of attacks on the more experienced students."
Marinette looks smug.
Armand gestures with his left arm and says, "Get into position."
Marinette looks at one of the fencing students approaching her, who she knows is Adrien.
Adrien asks, "Are you looking for someone?"
Marinette replies smugly, "Actually, I already found you, Adrien."
Adrien lifts up his helmet and inquires, "How'd you know it was me?"
Marinette replies, "Your fencing helmet does absolutely nothing to disguise or distort your voice."
Adrien nods in understanding.
Adrien then says, "I didn't know you were into fencing, Marinette."
Marinette replies, "Well, it didn't occur to me until now that if (Softly) we are to defeat Hawk Moth on Heroes' Day, even I need to work more on my fencing proficiency and my working relationship with using a sword."
Adrien nods in response.
Marinette then puts her helmet on, and holds her saber upright.
Adrien then says, "Bend your knees, then stretch your left foot back, turned outwards."
Marinette does so.
Adrien remarks before saying, "Perfect."
Adrien moves to Marinette's right side, putting his left arm around her shoulders to have her lean forward, and he uses his right hand to guide Marinette's right hand so the her saber is pointing forward as he says, "Now, put your saber forward, like this."
Marinette follows Adrien's instructions.
Armand then says, "Greet each other!"
Armand crosses his saber arm over his chest and then snaps it out to his right side in the traditional fencing greeting.
Adrien greets Marinette with the same gesture, and she does the same thing.
Armand then says while bringing his left arm up and then down in the signal for begin, "En garde! Prêts? Allez!"
Everyone starts fencing while he watches.
Adrien stands ready, and Marinette lunges.
The twosome clash sabers nine times in rapid succession, and Adrien tries to strike Marinette, but she dodges and strikes him.
Armand then says, "Attaque! Touche. Point! (Indicating towards Marinette) Continue!"
Marinette remarks, "So far, this is looking simple, but as we continue, I might discover some technicalities that may or may not apply to modern fencing."
Adrien replies, "I know. Just believe in yourself, and debate among the debate club when you have the chance."
Adrien gets in position and says, "En garde!"
Marinette does so likewise.
Adrien then says, "Prêt? Allez!"
Marinette and Adrien quickly fence, clashing sabers three times before Marinette strikes Adrien in the chest a second time.
Adrien remarks, "Attack, parry, riposte, counterattack. The point goes to you, Marinette."
Marinette replies as she asks for clarification, "Correct me if I'm wrong, but is it true that in saber fencing, the attacker doesn't necessarily win the point even though they touched their opponent first, and that because I took the initiative, I have priority, and due to that, you can only parry or riposte?"
Adrien replies, "Exactly. You're smarter about the fencing rules than you otherwise let on. Shall we continue?"
Marinette nods and they get into position.
They clash blades seven times and Adrien says as Marinette scores another point, "Anyway, look at the bright side, Mari; it'll help us both if we fight with actual swords against anyone who happen to be the ones who want us dead or as prisoners, especially if they choose to target us for any reason."
Marinette replies, "Yes, that's true, but I'd also like to combine swordfighting with some other resources, such as using a chained hammer and a sword at the same time to catch a secondary opponent unawares. I'm especially good with improvising by using anything in my environment as a distraction and as a weapon, like Batman and Rorschach."
Marinette and Adrien knew that even if they were a few feet away from other people, it's better to be secretive of what they mean in their discussion.
Adrien replies, "True, but the options are nearly unlimited."
Adrien lunges again and Marinette parries his attack.
Adrien then continues, "I'd like to try archery and Gun-Fu, for example."
Marinette replies, "I thought you'd go for launchable chained clubs and double-ended nightsticks."
In the days before and after the events of Miraculous Adventures of Ladybug and Cat Noir issues 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8, Marinette and Adrien not only continued training together – something Marinette said was like in the 2023 Miraculous Ladybug movie by Jeremy Zag that was better than the Thomas Astruc cartoon iteration but still flawed, as she explained everything to him – but they also started learning through A Christmas Carol style time traveling all about the ancient Miraculous users, Ladybug, Black Cat, Fox, Bee, Turtle, Butterfly, Peacock, Dragon, Snake, Rooster, Pig, Dog, Tiger, Goat, Mouse, Monkey, Horse, Ox, Rabbit, Zebra, Chicken, Lion, Fish, Bull, Thunderbird, Eagle, Buffalo, Bear, Wolf, Deer, Falcon, Otter, Beaver, Woodpecker, Salmon, Owl, Raven, Goose, Unicorn, Penguin, Chameleon, Dragonfly, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Cheetah, Phoenix, et cetera, it mattered not any of the Miraculouses named after species or breeds of animals and insects, or even the Miraculouses named after popular, common, least common, or rare superpowers from comic book and comic book themed media used by superheroes and supervillains alike.
Marinette, Adrien, and the rest of the class in the know and training their Miraculouses – except for Kagami with the Dragon Miraculous as she and her mother Tomoe had not yet moved to Paris and Kagami doesn't know about everything yet as well as the fact she had not even met Marinette yet – had taken the time to learn all about the previous Miraculous holders from decades to centuries to thousands of years in the past.
Marinette and the other ladybug species and breed named Miraculous holders were surprised at the intel about the Ladybug Miraculouses being present in several civilizations outside and inside of war time, Adrien and the other Cat Miraculous holders were shocked at the various myths about cats in different times of history and the list goes on.
For Adrien and the rest of the class, because they didn't have nearly the same amount of foreknowledge that Marinette had, they felt like it was an extremely long afterschool activity, but they knew it was one they could handle one day at a time.
Master Fu and his fellow Guardians had notified them that it was vital for them to learn about the past in order to avoid repeats of previous mistakes in the future – which Marinette added was something especially true in things like the forming of the 27 Amendments in the Constitution of the United States ever since the ending of the American Revolutionary War and the election of General George Washington as the first U.S. President – and they notified them about how it would be critical to allow them to unlock additional powers of the Miraculouses, Marinette and Adrien unlocking their Superhuman Enhanced Magical Charms, Miraculous Resurrection, Lady Healing, Lucky Vision, Lucky Lasers, Prodigious Plant Summoning, Astonishing Love, Astounding Wishes, Extraordinary Fortune, Felicity Giver, Unamazing Hex Charm, Prodigious Cat Noir, Disastrous Catastrophe, Black Storm, Black Hole, Razing Ground, Catacomb, Cheshire Cat, Cat's Eye, Mega Cataclysm, and other kinds of superpowers aside.
Marinette was glad she was naturally flexible and able to stand still to the point where she can do a headstand even when someone is tickling her feet.
And she was also glad she had spider-like reflexes that can help her in a pinch, too.
Those natural abilities often amplified when she is transformed into Ladybug proved ample to helping her in her first time experience of fencing.
But Marinette knew that memorizing the modern technicalities of parrying attacks and scoring points was gonna be most arduous.
When Marinette scored a point, she stated, "Ough, these rules in the modern era are most arduous and atrocious. How will any of us be able to determine who was obeying the rules first, if everything proceeds too quickly? Like for example, the fencing you and Kagami will inevitably do when she announces herself?"
Adrien answers, "We don't always know for sure, and that is why we have the option to abstain. Shall we continue some more?"
But before Marinette can move, a figure in red fencing gear holding a red fencing saber standing on the score box shouts with their voice's accent and tone slightly muffled by their helmet, "Hey, you! Are you Mr. D'Argencourt, the fencing master? I want to join your team."
Armand replies, "Only the best are admitted here, you knave."
The figure replies back, "And I was the best, everywhere I went."
Armand starts to say, "Part le fer! This whippersnapper has nerve!"
But Marinette interrupts to point out, "Mr. D'Argencourt, this '"whippersnapper"' is Kagami Tsurugi, the daughter of fencing mistress Tomoe Tsurugi."
Everyone gasps, even Armand, as even he has heard of Kagami's family.
Kagami lifts up her helmet and remarks before asking, "Well, well, it seems you know about me and my mother. Who are you?"
Marinette answers in Japanese, "Watashi wa Mari netto de~yupan = chendesu. Soshite, wa i, kazoku no bogodearu furansugo, Itaria-go, chūgokugo o nozokeba, watashi wa nihongo o hanasu koto ga dekimasu./ I am Marinette Dupain-Cheng. And yes, I can speak Japanese, aside from my family's native French, Italian, and Chinese."
Kagami remarks in Japanese, "Yoroshikuonegaishimasu, marinetto. Soshite, sukunakutomo watashi ga hoka no kuni de deatta hito ga sudeni nihongo o hanashite iru koto o shitte ureshīdesu./ Pleasure to make your acquaintance, Marinette. And nice to know that at least someone I meet in another country already speaks Japanese."
Armand then says, "All right. I may consider your admission, shall you defeat one of my students."
Kagami strides towards the silent students and demands, "Which one of you is the best combatant?!"
All of the students walk away, leaving Adrien as the only one.
Adrien raises his hand and says, "I am the best combatant."
Armand then says, "Adrien, please give Ms. Tsurugi a lesson in chivalry."
Adrien replies, "I shall, Master."
Adrien and Kagami face off, now attached to the scoring box and standing beside it.
Adrien touches his saber to Kagami's right shoulder, and she reciprocates.
The scoring box buzzes with each touch.
The twosome bows and walks apart.
Adrien bends his saber blade while Kagami swings hers around.
Marinette mumbles under her breath, "(Extremely quiet) All of this effort to prevent Kagami from getting Akumatized for the first time, and I'm not even getting the opportunity to test my mettle against her? Well, Kagami and Tomoe, I hope you're happy."
Marinette then places the blade of her saber on the ground like a cane, and she watches carefully, relying on her acute eyesight.
Armand then says, "En garde! Prêts? Allez!"
Adrien and Kagami lunge towards each other, and they clash sabers four times before striking each other in unison.
The point box buzzers go off at the same time as well.
Armand then says, "Simultané! Par un toucher!"
Adrien and Kagami return to their beginning points.
Marinette mumbles, "Hmmm... Interesting... and promising..."
Armand then says again, "En garde! Prêts? Allez!"
Once more, Kagami and Adrien lunge towards each other.
They clash sabers five times this time, and they touch each other at the same time again.
The buzzers buzz in unison.
Armand then says, "Um... Abstention!"
Marinette then mumbles under her breath, "(Extremely quiet) It's obvious they touched in unison; what the f(bleep!) is wrong with him?!"
Armand then starts to say, "En garde!"
But Kagami says, "Wait! I request that we do it the old-fashioned way. We'll be much more at ease without the machine."
Armand then asks, "Adrien?"
Adrien answers as he takes off his body cord, "Fine with me."
Kagami does so likewise.
Kagami backflips and swings her saber around some more, showing off how skilled she truly is.
Marinette remarks under her breath, "(Extremely quiet) Well, come high tide or hell, let's see who wins and whether or not we're successful in preventing Kagami from getting Akumatized."
Armand then says, "En garde! Prêts? Allez!"
Marinette's eyes narrow as she watches Adrien and Kagami lunge towards each other for the third time, clashing sabers twelve times while dodging each other's strikes, showing that Kagami is more skilled than Adrien.
Kagami push-knocks Adrien into a post, and she tries to strike Adrien, but she misses.
They clash sabers six more times as the fight progresses upstairs.
And on the sixth strike, Kagami backflips on the banister of the stairs before lunging towards Adrien.
Marinette remarks in a fake amazed tone as she's seen this a couple of times back on her Earth, "Oh, wow, this is supposed to be what fencing's about?!"
Armand replies in an excited tone, "Part le fer! Yes, this is what fencing's supposed to be all about!"
Marinette deploys her ladybug drones to continue observing the fight.
Because Marinette is as tall as Armand, she gets a good view of the fight from the back.
Adrien and Kagami continue to clash blades.
Eventually, Kagami pins Adrien between her saber and the banister of the stairs as they struggle in their blade lock.
Kagami asks seriously and tauntingly at the same time, "Is that all you can do?"
Adrien roars as he pushes Kagami back as hard as he could without overdoing it and without using his super strength, but Kagami maintains her balance.
Kagami remarks, "Wow, you really are stronger than you look."
Adrien goes further upstairs and Kagami follows him, and they continue to clash blades.
Armand remarks, "The fateful moment has arrived!"
Armand gets trampled by his students and he grunts in pain.
Kagami and Adrien still fence furiously, and they burst into the library when Adrien knocks Kagami into it through the doors, but she backflips back onto her feet.
Their fencing match starts making a mess out of the library, and Marinette stays out of the way as she watches from the second floor of the library.
Armand pushes his way through the students while saying, "Let me through! Move!"
His students move out of the way of the incoming book cart, and it hits Armand into the wall behind him.
Armand groans in pain again.
In the library, Adrien and Kagami are still fencing furiously, and Marinette keeps her eyes narrowed to focus on any small details she might miss.
Kagami and Adrien move away from each other.
Kagami then declares, "Let's finish this off now!"
Kagami and Adrien lunge towards each other for the last time, and their blades clash until both sabers touch the other opponent in unison.
Marinette remarks, "Well, I'll be a burnish brown horsefly."
Kagami steps aside and turns to Marinette.
Kagami demands, "Who got the first hit?! Who?!"
Marinette answers, "You touched Adrien first, and then, in the next instant, he touched you second. But by what I know about fencing, you touched him first BEFORE he touched you. So, you're the winner, Kagami."
Kagami remarks, "Well, nice to know you are also familiar with technicalities."
Armand appears on the floor as he crawls up the stairs in pain, "Who touched first? Tell us now!"
Marinette answers resolutely, "Kagami touched first! I paid attention to every last detail."
Armand springs to his feet and says, "Ah-ha! Wonderful! This victory is an honor to D'Argencourt Academy, especially to have the daughter of a world-famous fencer attend the academy!"
Kagami sighs in victory.
Kagami walks up to Adrien and offers her hand for a shake.
Adrien shakes Kagami's hand, and she walks up to Marinette.
Kagami says in Japanese, "Saibu made go hairyo itadaki arigatōgozaimasu./Thank you for paying attention to every last detail."
Marinette replies in Japanese, "Yoroshikuonegaishimasu, kagami-san./You are most welcome, Kagami."
Kagami holds out her right hand, and the two girls shake hands.
Marinette then says in Japanese, "Pari e, soshite furansowāzu De~Yupon kōkō e yōkoso./Welcome to Paris and to Francoise Dupont High School."
Kagami replies before asking, "Kōeidesu, marinetto. Sorede, moshi watashitachi ga nanika ito o hiku koto ga dekitara, watashinohaha ni aitaidesu ka?/ I am honored, Marinette. And, would you wish to meet my mother if we can pull some strings together?"
Marinette mentally growls as she says out loud, "Sono kikai ga areba ureshīdesu, kagami-san./I would love that opportunity, Kagami."
Kagami replies in English, "I will start to make plans, then."
Kagami then walks out of the library.
Marinette then says, "Okay, let's get someone to clean up this mess before Mr. Damocles blows a fuse."
The students help Marinette with cleaning up the library.
Kagami, on the other hand, feels prideful.
Kagami then says, "Marinette Dupain-Cheng... hmm... where have I heard that name before?"
Kagami goes to her mother's self-automated car, Tatsu.
However, before Kagami can go into her mother's self-automated car, Kagami spots an angry fencing girl who looks put out that she wasn't joining the D'Argencourt Academy.
The girl doesn't spare Kagami a glance and storms away.
In Hawk Moth's lair, Hawk Moth remarks as his window opens, "A rising underdog whose victory has been stolen... Crushing defeat is the ideal form of reinforced steel to use in order to forge a blade of revenge."
He turns a butterfly into an Akuma.
Hawk Moth remarks, "Fly off, my little Akuma, towards that spite and petulance, and evilize this fencer!"
The Akuma flies out of his window to the grounds of Francoise Dupont.
Meanwhile, Adrien and Marinette then walk out of the school, and they stalk towards her parents' bakery and his bodyguard's car respectively.
Kagami notices Marinette going to her parents' bakery and she says, "Ah. So, Marinette is from a Parisian family of bakers, and yet she defied certain traditions of bakers by studying fencing, learning how to speak Italian, French, Chinese, Japanese, and English, and learning how to be a flawless judge of character. But I must know more."
Kagami gets into her mother's car.
Marinette notices the Akuma flying towards the scorned student, Sakura Tauziat, and she growls, "Ugh! It's almost like some people in charge of this timeline want me to screw up even in victory."
Marinette rushes to her bedroom and says, "Tikki, Spots On!"
Marinette turns into Ladybug and flies off.
In Kagami's car, Tomoe's voicemail says as Kagami's call goes to voicemail, "I'm not available at the moment. Leave a message."
The machine beeps.
Kagami says, "Mother, I got accepted. I am joining the D'Argencourt Academy. I will tell you the details when you have the time for it."
Kagami hangs up and sits back in her seat.
In the Tauziat car, Sakura says into her phone, "I didn't get accepted into the Academy. I wasn't even given a chance to test my mettle. We will have to find something else elsewhere."
Sakura hangs up and looks at her ring.
The Akuma flies into it, establishing the connection between her and Hawk Moth.
Hawk Moth remarks, "Riposte, I am Hawk Moth. I'm giving you a second chance to prove that you are the best fencer than everyone else, but in exchange, you must bring me Ladybug, Cat Noir, Leobreaker, Ratbat, Laserbeak, Ravage, Boostwing, Filch, Sakura/Riposte replies, "On my honor, Hawk Moth. I shall be victorious!"
Sakura turns into an exact replica of the original Riposte, minus the Tsurugi symbol, and the moment the traffic light turns green, she slices a new sun roof onto her father's robotic car before launching herself into the air.
In his car, Adrien stumbles upon a picture of the Tauziat symbol, having seen it on the chest covering of Sakura's fencing outfit, and he looks it up.
He remarks, "Sakura is the oldest daughter of a family of royal fencers, stage magicians, and martial arts instructors. Her parents and their siblings were both black belts in karate, Kung-Fu, Ninjitsu, Jujitsu, Sambo, and Canne de Combat. I've read about them once before. She and her parents and younger siblings moved here to Paris! How amazing."
Suddenly, Riposte comes spinning out of the sky and she slices Adrien's car in half, launching Adrien out of his seat.
Riposte stand on top of the back half of the car.
Riposte then says, "How about a decisive match since Tsurugi is not here?"
Adrien asks, "Who are you? You're obviously not Kagami."
Riposte cackles as she replies, "Of course not! Who else did you think I was, the Silver Samurai from Wolverine?"
Ladybug wolf-whistles and Riposte whirls around to see the entire French Miraculous Superhero Team hovering above her, with the other Dragon Miraculous holders transformed into their dragon modes.
Riposte takes notice of the dragon Predacons and shouts before snarling, "Dragons?! It's not possible! I will not be denied victory again!"
The dragons roar as loud as they could, making Riposte suffer a headache, but she doesn't go down.
Ladybug then says, "Very well; we'll do this the hard way. Defender!"
Defender, the new reality opposite version of Kagami as Riposte who actually is Kagami, albeit with the ability to turn either of her hands into either swords or shields, lands next to the building where Ladybug is hovering over.
Riposte remarks, "Is that supposed to be me?"
Defender retorts while being careful of identities as Ladybug and Purple Streak were very clear about that, "And a much better version, with shields!"
Ladybug then says, "Defender, show this Riposte wannabe who the real fencer is."
Defender replies, "With all of my honor, Ladybug."
Defender and Riposte stand ready, and they lunge towards each other, with Defender having her left hand as an indestructible metal shield and her right hand as a sword, and the clash blades twelve times before Defender and Riposte jump into the air and do the death clash.
Riposte stands still before her head comes clean off, with the rest of her body slumping to the floor on her chest.
Ladybug retracts her helmet to the Batman-style domino mask and she says while hugging Defender, "Thank you so much for your effort and proficiency, Defender."
Ladybug then kisses Defender on her left cheek, knowing that she can still feel things underneath her armor, like kissing on either of her cheeks.
Defender blushes before composing herself and replying, "It was my honor, Ladybug."
Purple Streak then says, "Come, let me take you home."
Purple Streak and Defender take flight.
Ladybug purifies the Akuma and reverses the damages done with her Miraculous Ladybug.
Riposte is turned back into Sakura, fully healed and alive.
Sakura asks in confusion, "What happened?"
Sakura looks at the French Miraculous Superhero Team in awe, including a just returned Purple Streak.
Kagami looks at them in awe as well, showing that Purple Streak really allowed a clone to return home in the car all without Tomoe knowing about it – with Kagami's express permission, of course.
After Kagami and Sakura made up and made plans to unite their families together, Kagami was taken home with her clone replaced and merged back into her, showing that Ladybug authorized for Master Fu as the user for the Rooster Miraculous to give Kagami the ability to make a clone of herself to be in two places at once, without Tomoe knowing about it, and especially since the clone served its purpose.
Ladybug then says, "French Miraculous Superhero Team, fly off!"
The heroes fly away, with the dragon Predacons transforming back into their Miraculous wearing human forms.
At the Tsurugi estate, Adrien and Kagami then say in unison, "I'm sorry." "I'm sorry."
Adrien then asks, "Then, would you agree to meeting Marinette's parents?"
Kagami asks as she explains, "Why? Marinette seemed to be enough of a good judge of character to tell the truth about who won the point back at the school's library."
Adrien replies, "Yes, but Marinette doesn't do well with keeping her anger and her potty mouth in check under pressure. But other than that, she's kind and means well. In fact, she happened to be the only one aside from someone else who can talk to my father on his bad days and on the days where he has me kept at home for absolutely no reason at all. Besides, Marinette never cheats at anything. Today was her first ever experience in fencing, and she's not one hundred percent familiar with specific technicalities."
Kagami looks surprised for a moment, but then she smiles as she inquires, "You like her a lot, do you?"
Adrien answers, "Yes. I love her a lot. But she and I are holding off on dating just in case my father tries to blackmail her into breaking up with me under the threat banner of pulling me from school and forbidding me from contacting any of my friends and her ever again."
Kagami looks stormy as she asks, "And why would he do that?"
Adrien whispers into her left ear, "(Softly) Because my father is Hawk Moth."
Kagami looks shocked, as evidenced by her jaw dropping.
Adrien then says as he passes Kagami Marinette's secret phone number on a post-it note, "Here's Marinette's secret phone number; she ordinarily passes it on to anyone she meets, only when she winds up becoming great friends with them, but that's also only for those among such a category of people who have earned enough of her trust to be selected on her list of people she wants to let them know more about her secrets, such as how she knows my father is Hawk Moth and how she managed to tell me about it without anyone else knowing."
Kagami takes the post-it note and replies, "I will contact Marinette as soon as I am able."
And so, the friendship boat had started to set sail, along with Adrien noticing that his conversation with Kagami was not filmed by any security cameras or surveillance microphones whatsoever.
And when Marinette said that she intends to give Kagami the original Dragon Miraculous while educating her about the importance of secret identities and the importance of visualizing a Miraculous outfit to resemble more of the animal or insect the Miraculous jewel symbolizes either for added invulnerability or for the ability to fly, Adrien asked, "Would you ever consider entering a romantic relationship between me, Kagami, and Luka like in some of those fanfictions you showed me?"
Marinette got red in the face as she answers, "W-well, um, I don't know, to be honest. I mean, I haven't even developed feelings for Luka or Kagami yet. But that is something to consider. Perhaps if a polyamorous relationship between you, me, Alya, and Nino doesn't work."
Adrien then asks, "And how do you think Kagami will take listening to the revelation that she along with me and Felix are Sentimonsters?"
Marinette answers again, "Well, considering how she was raised, she may either keep a cool head about it, or have an explosive rage out, or cry about it in our arms when we're alone and far from Hawk Moth's empathy range. Whichever one comes first."
Adrien and Marinette, in her bedroom, then transformed into Ladybug and Cat Noir, made sure that it was still night time, and they went to a nearby warehouse used by the team as a backup staging ground and another training center, and once there, they once more reviewed the rules of fencing before continuing for over nine hours in frozen time. And with Ladybug's ability to make her age adjust well to the amount of time frozen or spent in the past while keeping tabs on her birthday, well, there really was no need to use the Rabbit Miraculous with Alix's permission.
The End.
(Author's notes: Yes, I shortened the fight against Riposte because I hated how Adrien as Cat Noir fought to protect the girl he loves despite having a sprained ankle and despite learning the hard way that transforming to superhero form and civilian form and back again doesn't heal or null the pain from any injury. At the same time, however, I put this new spin on the Riposte episode at the conclusion because I didn't know how to extend it a bit more than I already have.
Anyway, see you all in chapter 70: Curiosity Kicked The Cat.)
