A/N: Here's the final part of Spider Island.
Please read and review?
If anyone wants to make a TV Tropes page for my stories, you're more than welcome.
At the warehouse, the four Web-Warriors all stared at Jackal and the Man-Spiders between them.
"What do we do?" Ghost Spider whispered. "Some of our friends are there."
"Just restrain them for now, then let's get Jackal." Spider-Man whispered.
"Agreed." Spider-Woman said, as the others nodded.
"Right. Now!" Spider-Man said.
They all shot webs from their hands, hitting all the Man-Spiders, Shadow-Spider's hitting Capt. Stacy and Mary Jane, trapping them all slightly, before they all hissed and broke free.
"Oh, webs!" Ghost Spider gasped. "Got another plan?"
"I'm working on it." Spider-Man said, as they all backed away.
"Well, think faster, Spidey?" Shadow-Spider asked. "'Cause I don't know about you, but I have a bad feeling about this."
Down below, the other heroes had all their hands full holding back the Man-Spiders down below, including their friends and fellow heroes, since She-Hulk had never fought alongside any of them before.
Shadowcat ran forward as one tried to grab her, before she phased through it, then spun around and kicked it away. She turned around to another, which shot a web from its mouth, but it phased right through her, before she charged it and punched its face, knocking it out cold. She smirked, when a hissing noise made her turn around, and she saw Storm and Jubilee coming towards her.
"Oh, boy." she gulped. "I hope that cure's spread soon."
She slowly backed away as her two friends slowly came towards her, acid dripping from their spider mouths.
She-Hulk turned as two came towards her from either side, before she held her arms out and punched them both in the mouth, knocking them back, before they fell onto their backs out cold. She turned as a third came at her, but she grabbed its right pincer as it tried to whack her with it, before she lifted it up and threw it away from her, which hit the ground on its back. She grinned, before she turned around, and saw Gambit and Nightcrawler slowly approaching her, spotting the X's on their uniforms.
"Two of the X-Men?" she thought. "Still, have to go easy on them like the rest."
She jumped towards them both, before they shot webs from their mouths, both hitting her legs, then they pulled her down onto her back.
"OH!" she moaned. "Pretty strong, you two."
She looked up as they began to pull her towards her, before she sat up and grabbed the webs, pulling them off her legs, then she got up to her feet.
Wolverine ducked onto his back as one tried to pounce on him, be kicked it with both feet, sending it flying away, hitting a crate nearby. He got up and blocked a third's pincer with his right claw, before he kicked it away, before it hit the ground on his back. He grinned as he looked around, seeing four more heading towards him, including Lt. DeWolff and Sgt. Davis.
"If only these were lizards or something, at least them I could slice up some limbs if I had too." he thought. "Still, you know it, Logan, no killing this time."
He charged at the four Man-Spiders, then jumped to pounce on them, pointing his claws at them.
Iceman dodged and ran off as one tried to shoot acid at him, missing him by inches, before she shot ice at the ground. It spread along the ground, until it reached the Man-Spider and two more, tripping them up all onto their backs.
"Have a nice trip. See you next fall." he joked, as they slid away along the ice.
He grinned, before he turned and saw Cyclops, Jean and Beast all approaching him.
"Oh, boy. Good thing Warren's not here, or else it'd be really weird." he thought, as he slowly backed away.
Ben whacked one away with his left arm, then punched another away with his right, before Reed and Sue both came towards him.
"Oh, great. Sorry about this, you two." he said.
He charged at his friends, who both shot webs from their mouths, which hit his arms, but he grabbed the webs and pulled on them, causing them both to bang into each other, knocking them onto their chests.
"Sorry, guys." Ben said. "It'll all be over soon."
The Web-Warriors all kept backing away, till the reached the edge of the rooftop, making Spider-Woman turn and look over the edge, then at her fellow Spiders.
"Looks like he's got a trap, guys." she said.
Spider-Man turned and saw she was right, before turning back to the Jackal and the Man-Spiders.
"Guys, web and hold them." he said. "I'll see if I can get close to the Jackal."
"Good idea." Ghost Spider agreed. "Good luck."
Spider-Man prepared himself as the others were about to shoot webs from their hands, when Black Cat came out of nowhere and kicked a Man-Spider away, before she turned to the Web-Warriors.
"Well, hello there." she joked.
Spider-Man and Ghost Spider both gasped with shock, while the other two didn't recognize her.
"You!" Ghost Spider scowled, clutching her fists.
"Hey, I'm trying to help here." Black Cat swore. "I saw the fighting from a distance and figured you could use an extra hand."
"We could use it." Spider-Woman said. "But they need more help than us!"
She pointed down below, making Black Cat turn, before she nodded. She turned around and grabbed the nearest Man-Spider, before she jumped off the rooftop with it, then began to fight with the heroes on the ground.
"Of all the times for her to show up, it had to be now!" Ghost Spider sneered.
"Ghost, now's not the time." Spider-Man said, touching her arm. "Remember the plan."
"Okay, fine." Ghost Spider muttered. "But we're having a serious talk with her afterwards."
"On that, I agree." Spider-Man said. "Let's do it."
His fellow Web-Warriors all shot webs at the Man-Spiders in front of them, webbing them all up, before he jumped up over them and landed near Jackal.
"This nightmare's ending tonight, Jackal." he swore. "And you're coming with us!"
"Ha! We'll see about that." Jackal spat, cracking his knuckles.
In the Avengers Tower, Dr. Connors and Bruce both ran down a hallway towards Bruce's lab, before they entered it. They both turned around as Anya came running down the hallway, before she entered it. Bruce hit a button on the panel, closing the door, before Anya turned and then webbed up the door.
"Let's hope that holds them for a little while." Anya said, turning around.
She turned around as Bruce and Dr. Connors approached a table, when a small cannon device lay, which was shaped like a cylinder.
"This is your device?" Anya asked.
"Yes. Hank and I made it ourselves. It's called the Ganali Device. We used it based on plans from...the parents of a friend of ours." Bruce explained, as it was something Peter's parents had been working on for SHIELD before they died.
"So, if we load up our gas version of the cure into this, it'll create a mist that'll spread through the city and cure everyone?" Dr. Connors inquired.
"Yes. We'll have to do it from the landing pad through." Bruce explained. "That's got the best view to shoot it into the city."
A banging noise made them all turn to the door before they could argue.
"Tell me the landing pad isn't that way?" Anya asked.
"It's one of the ways, but not the only one." Bruce explained, picking up the Ganali Device. "Follow me."
He turned and ran off towards another door, which he opened up, as Anya and Dr. Connors followed, before the door got knocked down, then the Man-Spider Avengers came into the lab. They all ran down the hallway, Anya turning back briefly four times to create webs in the hallway to slow down the Man-Spider Avengers, which only slowed them for a few minutes, before they all entered a room near the landing pad.
"Well, there's the landing pad." Bruce said. "All we have to do now is get close, load the cure into the device, and fire it over the city."
They all turned as the Man-Spider Avengers barged into the room, then Black Widow, Capt. America and Hawkeye all shot webs from their mouths. The webs hit all three people, which knocked and pinned them against a wall, causing Bruce to drop theGanali Device.
"OH!" they moaned.
They looked up as the Man-Spider Avengers slowly came towards them, acid pouring from Ant-Man and Hawkeye's mouths.
"Guys, it's me!" Bruce swore. "Snap out of it! You're not yourselves!"
"We're trying to help you all!" Anya swore.
Dr. Connors gulped as Tony came towards them all, while the remaining Man-Spider Avengers stayed put.
"I hope the cavalry's coming." he thought.
Tony screeched and raised his upper right arm up, when Capt. Marvel came flying in and punched Tony away, knocking him into a wall.
"Sorry about that, Stark." she sad. "Nothing personal."
Bruce, Dr. Connors and Anya all turned and saw Rogue and Thor flying into the room.
"Got room f' us?" Rogue asked.
"I am deeply sorry for this, my friends, but it's for your own good." Thor said.
He shot towards Capt. America and Falcon, then whacked them both with Mjölnir, knocking them away, as Rogue flew down towards Hawkeye.
"Remembah me, bright eyes?" she teased, punching him away.
She flew over and punched Black Widow and Wasp away, as Thor whacked Ant-Man away with his hammer, knocking them all down near the wall Tony was.
Capt. Marvel landed near Bruce, Anya and Dr. Connors, before she ripped the webbing off Bruce.
"You have the cure ready?" she asked.
"Yes. We just need to fire it towards the city." Bruce explained.
"Get to it then, Banner." Capt. Marvel said. "We can hold off our friends and the other mutations down below."
"There's more outside?" Dr. Connors asked, as Rogue freed him from the webbing.
"Oh, ya betcha." Rogue assured.
Outside, Johnny and Firestar were both flying around the tower, shooting fire from their hands, knocking 6 Man-Spiders off the walls, causing them to fall down towards the ground.
"You sure this is a good idea?" Firestar asked, as they met up.
"Hey, it's not my idea!" Johnny argued. "Capt. Marvel gave the order, remember?"
"Well, for her sake, I hope we don't accidently kill any of them while doing this." Firestar said.
"Well, that's all around the Tower." Johnny reasoned. "All we have to do is hold back those on the ground, and I know just how to do it. Just follow my lead, hot stuff."
"My name's Firestar, Torch!" Firestar snarled, unamused. "And don't call me that."
Johnny blushed, before saw 30 Man-Spiders down below heading towards the tower.
"Okay, chill out, babe." Johnny said, making her even more angry. "Look, let's just deal with them for now, then we can talk."
"Fine!" Firestar snapped.
They both shot down towards the ground and shot fire from their hands at the 30 Man-Spiders, creating a wall of fire, which held them all back.
In the Tower, Rogue pulled the webbing off Anya, as Capt. Marvel looked at Bruce.
"Where's the cure?" she asked.
Bruce ran over towards the Ganali Device and picked it up, as Dr. Connors took it out of his pocket, as it was in a test tube.
"Here it is." he said.
"Who's this?" Capt. Marvel asked.
"Dr. Connors, he's Spider-Man's friend." Bruce explained. "I couldn't have made the cure without his help."
"I'm surprised you and this young lady weren't mutated like most of the city?" Thor inquired, motioning to Anya.
"I was, Mr. Thor." Anya explained. "My mutation was just slower than most."
"We had to use the test cure on her as she started to mutate while she was helping us." Dr. Connors explained. "It didn't rob her of her powers through, unlike this one will."
"That sure was brave o' ya, hon." Rogue remarked.
"I felt I had to do something." Anya explained. "I owe Spider-Man and Ghost Spider my life for saving my Papa."
"Fair enough." Capt. Marvel said.
They all turned as they heard moaning, seeing the Avenger Man-Spiders getting up.
"Since you still have your powers for now, care to help us holding them out while the Doc's get to work?" Capt. Marvel asked.
"It's the least I can do." Anya assured.
"Bruce, you and the Dr. get to work." Capt. Marvel ordered. "We'll keep them busy."
Bruce and Dr. Connors both nodded before they both turned and ran off towards the landing pad, as everyone else stared at the seven Avenger Man-Spiders.
"While the hotheads hold those off outside, we better take care of them." Capt. Marvel said. "Just remember to be careful."
"We understand, my friend." Thor said.
He and Anya both remained still, as Rogue and Capt. Marvel flew over to the Avenger Man-Spiders, then punched Wasp and Falcon at the same time, knocking them both away. Thor then threw Mjölnir at Ant-Man, hitting him and knocking him down, then it swerved liked a boomerang and hit Capt. America's head, knocking him down onto his chest, before he caught it.
"I'm sorry about that, my friends." he said.
Anya shot web balls from her hands, which hit Black Widow and Hawkeye's faces, blinding them, before they ripped the webs off with their pincers.
"Okay, not good." she gulped.
On the landing pad, Bruce and Dr. Connors were both crouched down, Bruce holding the cannon, while Dr. Connors held the test tube with the cure.
"You sure this will work?" Bruce asked.
"There's only one way to find out." Dr. Connors said.
He put his mouth near the test tube, then took the cork out with his mouth, then poured the cure into the Ganali Device. Bruce held it up and looked at the sky, before he pressed a button on it, firing a projectile up into the sky, which scattered into mist, which quickly began to spread all over the city. Those inside the tower were the first to feel it, who all screeched, before they fell to their knees and turned back to normal.
"Oh!" they moaned.
Tony, Steve and Natasha all shook their heads as they looked up, before Capt. Marvel approached them.
"Carol, what's going on?" Natasha asked, getting up.
"Yeah. The last thing I remember-" Tony began.
"It's a long story, guys." Capt. Marvel explained. "I'm glad it worked."
The other Avengers pulled themselves up as Thor and Rogue approached them.
"Our friend Spider-Man can explain everything." Thor assured.
Dr. Connors, Bruce and Anya approached the other heroes.
"And who are they?" Natasha asked.
"This is Dr. Connors." Bruce explained, pointing at him. "He's a friend of Spider-Man's. Without his help, I wouldn't have been able to make the cure."
Dr. Connors waved.
"Well, what about her?" Tony asked, pointing at Anya.
"I'm Anya Corazon." Anya explained. "I've been helping them out."
"We used her as our test subject." Dr. Connors explained.
"She volunteered." Bruce added. "And since it's worked on you, it should work on everyone else too."
The Avengers and other people all looked over at the mist, which began to spread all over the city, slowly turning every Man-Spider back to normal.
Johnny and Firestar watched as the Man-Spiders behind their fire all moaned and fell onto their chests, before they turned back to normal as the mist went over them, which also put out the fire. Among those including two Cops, a Firefighter, and Rhodey.
"Whoa, it worked." Johnny said.
"Looks like this nightmare's over." Firestar joked.
Elsewhere, Sally stood in a street, as eight Man-Spiders stood in front of her, trapping her against a wall, before the mist hit them all. They all screeched and slowly turned back to normal, showing Liz, Gloria and Debra Whitman among them.
"What... What happened?" Liz asked.
"I... I don't know." Gloria said.
"You're back to normal!" Sally gasped happily.
Liz and Gloria turned to her, before hugged them both tight, shocking them, while Debra and the others looked confused.
Elsewhere, Randy and Harry ran down a street as four Man-Spiders chased them, when another four got in front of them, trapping them both.
"We're trapped!" Harry gasped, as they skidded to a stop.
They turned around and spotted the mist coming towards them all.
"What's that?" Randy gasped.
"I... I don't know!" Harry gasped.
The mist came over them all, making the Man-Spiders screech and fall onto their chests, before they all turned back to normal, showing Flash among them, who was only in his underwear.
"Oh!" he moaned.
Harry and Randy looked around as they all lifted their heads, seeing their torn clothes.
"What...what happened?" Flash asked.
Harry and Randy turned to each other.
"That mist must've been a cure." Harry deduced.
"Developed by the heroes that hadn't been infected I'll bet, including the Web-Warriors." Randy finished. "I hope Dad can really get Jameson to give them credit here."
Flash and the other people pulled themselves up, two of them being women, all looked around, before Flash looked at himself.
"Oh, great!" he gasped, seeing holes in his underwear.
Randy took off his jacket and wrapped it around his friend.
"Does that help?" he asked.
"Yeah. Thanks, Rand." Flash said. "I guess I lost my spider powers."
Harry turned and saw a man trying to stick to a wall, but saw he wasn't.
"Well, better this than you been stuck as a Man-Spider forever." Harry said.
"You know, if you'd still have your powers, Flash you'd look more like Tarzan than Spider-Man right now." Randy joked.
"Yeah, only in the city instead of the jungle." Harry added.
"Thanks a lot." Flash said sarcastically.
In another area, five Cops - including Lt. Watanabe - all aimed tranquilizer guns at 13 Man-Spiders, most of which wore Cop uniforms.
"Remember, these are our friends." Lt. Watanabe said. "That's why we have these."
"Yes, ma'am." the others said, all boys.
They all aimed their tranquilizers, when the mist came over the area, shocking them all, before it turned all 13 Man-Spiders back to normal as they fell onto their chests.
"O-kay, what was that?" the youngest Cop asked.
"I... I honestly have no idea." Lt. Watanabe admitted, speechless.
At FEAST, Aunt May, Rio and several other workers saw several Man-Spiders outside, before the mist hit them all and turned them back to normal. Both women turned to each other confused, as did everyone else.
At the Daily Bugle, Jameson was in his office, looking down at the city from the window, seeing Man-Spiders all over. Several of his staff did the same from the nearby ones, including Robbie and Betty, when three Man-Spiders swung towards them on webs.
"Move!" Robbie yelled.
They all moved away as they smashed two windows and landed in the room, making Jameson turn.
"Can this day get any worse?" he complained, before he saw the mist. "Huh?"
The mist entered the building via the broken windows, which hit the three Man-Spiders and turned them both to normal as they fell onto the chest, showing one was Ned.
"Ned?" Betty gasped.
She ran over and crouched beside him, turning him onto his back.
"Ned, are you okay?" she asked.
"Oh, no need to yell, Betty." Ned moaned, waking up.
"Well, that's some good news in the past 24 hours." Jameson admitted.
The mist soon spread over more of the city, curing more Man-Spiders, including Mrs. Connors, Jason, and most of the Midtown High staff, Prof. Harrington being the only one who was not infected when it started. Among the people watching who weren't infected, where Janice Lincoln and Sha Sha Nguyen, who both watched several people fall to the ground as the mist went over them. In another area, Anna Watson and several other people saw more Man-Spiders turn back to normal, while at Central Park, Jane Foster and a few fellow Paramedics saw more turn back to normal.
At the warehouse, Spider-Man tried to punch Jackal, but he grabbed his arm, then threw him away.
"AH!" he yelped.
His fellow Web-Warriors all looked up at him, before Shadow-Spider caught him.
"Gotcha." he said.
"Thanks, Shadow." Spider-Man said. "Let's-"
The Man-Spiders between them and Jackal all broke free of the webs holding him, then hissed at the four of them.
"Oh, webs! That was our strongest batch too!" Ghost Spider exclaimed.
"Now what we do we?" Spider-Woman questioned.
Spider-Man began to think, when the mist soon reached the area, which Ben spotted while holding back a Man-Spider.
"Everyone, look!" he yelled.
Everyone turned to the mist, which moved closer and came over the scene, and slowly began to turn the Man-Spiders back to normal, as they all watched, even the Jackal.
Cyclops, Jean, Beast being among the first, then it turned Storm, Jubilee, Reed and Susan, followed by several more, including Lt. DeWolff and Sgt. Davis, then Nightcrawler and Gambit, then the rest on the rooftop, with Capt. Stacy and Mary Jane being the last two to turn back to normal.
Jackal and the Web-Warriors looked down at them as they slowly woke up, then turned to those down below.
"What?!" Jackal exclaimed, turning to the Web-Warriors. "What have you done?!"
"You're army's been cured, Jackal!" Ghost Spider sneered.
"So, give it up?" Spider-Man advised. "You've lost, Professor."
Capt. Stacy and Mary Jane both turned to Jackal and gasped, before they got up.
"You!" Capt. Stacy growled.
On the ground, the other heroes all ran over to their friends and other people, who all slowly pulled themselves up.
"Reed, Sue, you okay?" Ben asked.
"Ben, what... How did we get here?" Reed asked, confused.
Shadowcat ran over to Storm and Jubilee, who both looked at her as they got to their knees.
"You guys okay?" she asked.
"What... What's going on?" Storm asked, as Jubilee rubbed her eyes.
Wolverine and Iceman both ran over to Cyclops, Jean and Beast, while She-Hulk over to Nightcrawler and Gambit.
"Logan, Bobby, what's...?" Beast began, getting up.
"No time, Hank." Logan said. "Drake, the shades, quick!"
Iceman took out Scott's ruby glasses and put them over his eyes before he could open them, as Jean got up and rubbed the back of her head.
"Can someone tell me what happened?" Cyclops asked, shaking his head.
"It's a long story, Scott." Iceman assured. "We'll tell you later."
"He's right, Cyke." Wolverine said, coming towards them. "We've got bigger problems right now."
She-Hulk stopped by Gambit and Nightcrawler, as they both turned to her.
"You two okay?" she asked.
"Yeah." Remy said. "Just dizzy. And who are you?"
"Long story, and you better get rid of your dizziness quickly, 'cause look." She-Hulk said, pointing at the warehouse.
Lt. DeWolff, Sgt. Davis and the other people all looked amongst each other in confusion, as Black Cat stared at them all.
"Well, this is a surprise." she admitted.
Capt. Stacy and Mary Jane approached the Web-Warriors, who ran over to them.
"You two better stay back." Spider-Man said.
Everyone looked up at the warehouse, as the Web-Warriors got in front of Capt. Stacy and Mary Jane.
"He's right, this might get a bit messy." Ghost Spider said.
The Jackal backed away to the edge of the rooftop of the warehouse, as the Web-Warriors came towards him. He turned around, seeing the other heroes all looking down at him, trapping him as he turned back to the Web-Warriors. Capt. Stacy and Mary Jane ran towards stairs on their side of the roof, before they turned back to the scene.
"Prof. Warren sure looks ugly like that." Mary Jane noted.
"He sure does, and he's not going anywhere near Gwen." Capt. Stacy swore.
Jackal grinned and began to laugh, confusing everyone who looked at him, making the Web-Warriors frown with confusion, while Jean and Cyclops, Gambit and Nightcrawler, Ben and She-Hulk, Storm and Shadowcat, and Reed and Sue all turned to each other.
"Uh, what's so funny?" Shadow-Spider asked. "You're cornered and outnumbered, Jackal."
"You'll never take me!" Jackal screeched.
He threw a smoke pellet down to the ground and another onto the rooftop, which quickly made two thick smokescreens, making the Web-Warriors turn and cough, followed by the other heroes, then the rooftop one reached Capt. Stacy and Mary Jane.
"What the?" Mary Jane coughed.
"Let's go!" Capt. Stacy coughed.
They both ran down the stairs and to the ground, as everyone else coughed, before they ran off towards some of the civilians.
"Where is he?" Ghost Spider coughed.
"I don't know!" Spider-Man coughed. "Can't see him!"
Jackal laughed as he made his escape through the smoke.
"We still hear him though, so better rely on our senses." Spider-Woman coughed.
None of their Spider-Senses went off though, as the Jackal was escaping, not attacking them.
"We'll meet again, web-heads." he sneered. "You haven't seen the last of me!"
The heroes down below all looked around, as the ground smokescreen hadn't reached them or the civilians.
"Where'd that creep go?" Ben growled, punching his fist.
"That sneaky little...!" Wolverine growled, holding his claws up.
"Just who is that guy?" Storm inquired.
"Yeah, looks like a reptile." Gambit noted.
"That's the Jackal." Shadowcat explained. "He's the guy who caused all this mess."
"And he's done a lot more too." Iceman added.
"That's the Jackal?" Beast questioned. "He looks even worse than I thought."
"And you won't all believe why he's been doing this." She-Hulk said, getting everyone's attention.
She expected the Man-Spider heroes to look shocked, but they all looked at her.
"We already know why." Storm assured.
"Oh, right." She-Hulk said.
"Who is dis anyway?" Gambit asked.
"Introductions later, Cajun." Wolverine said. "We gotta find that creep."
He began to sniff the air, but couldn't find Jackal.
"Ah! This smoke's so thick I can't track him!" he growled.
Sgt. Davis, Lt. DeWolff and the other civilians all looked around, seeing no sign of the Jackal, as the smokescreens cleared.
"Okay, just where the hell did he go?" Capt. Stacy demanded, approaching his fellow Cops.
They all shrugged as Mary Jane looked around with the other civilians.
The Web-Warriors jumped down from the rooftop and looked around, but saw no sign of the Jackal, nor did anyone else.
"Hey, what in the hell?!" Spider-Woman exclaimed.
"Where'd he go?" Ghost Spider exclaimed.
"He just vanished." Shadow-Spider said.
Spider-Woman turned as she heard a noise, seeing a manhole cover spinning around before it stopped.
"Not quite." she said. "He's gone into the sewers."
"We'll never catch him in there without a Spider-Tracer!" Spider-Man groaned.
Ghost Spider growled and punched the nearby wall in anger, making her boyfriend touch her shoulder.
"We'll get him one day, Ghost." he promised. "He'll pay for all he's done."
"When we do, I wanna be the one to web him up." Ghost Spider said coldly. "He has to pay for all he's done just to think I could love him."
"You got it." Spider-Man assured.
Ghost Spider smiled before they hugged each other tight, glad that this nightmare was over for now. They both parted and looked at each other, then put their hands on each other's masks to raise them up, when Black Cat came over to them.
"You!" Ghost Spider scowled.
Black Cat flinched slightly as she turned and jumped up onto the warehouse rooftop, before Ghost Spider and Spider-Man jumped after her, all landing on the rooftop. Black Cat stood near the edge, out of sight of everyone else, as the two Spiders slowly approached her.
"Ghost, wait?" Spider-Man said.
Ghost Spider turned to him with a frown under her mask as he touched her shoulder.
"Let me handle this?" Spider-Man asked. "If she tries anything, you can jump her."
"Okay." Ghost Spider nodded.
Spider-Man walked over to her, as their headset radios beeped.
"Ghost Spider here." Ghost Spider answered, touching her headset.
(Avengers Tower)
Bruce held up a radio as Dr. Connors, Anya and the others all looked at the city, expect for the flyers, apart for those who'd mutated.
"The Avengers have all been cured, along with everyone around the tower." Bruce explained. "How's things on your end."
"Everyone here's back to normal, including the rest of our friends." Ghost Spider reported. "The rest of the city should be cured too."
"Good news." Bruce said. "We did it. It's finally over. Where's Spidey."
"Spidey's talking to someone right now." Ghost Spider explained.
"Who?" Bruce asked, as Dr. Connors and Anya walked off and left the room.
"It's probably better you don't know now." Ghost Spider assured. "Speak to you later."
"Got it." Bruce said.
He turned his radio off and put away, then approached the others, as Capt. Marvel, Thor, Rogue, Johnny and Firestar all landed near them.
"We've covered every part of the city expect for the area our friends are." Capt. Marvel explained.
"And?" Tony asked.
"There's not a signal Man-Spider out there anywhere, Mr. Stark." Johnny assured. "I just wish we knew what happened with the Jackal."
"Ghost Spider reported in from there." Bruce said.
He approached the other heroes, who all turned to him.
"Everyone's back to normal on their end." he explained. "This mess is over."
Rogue sighed with relief as she touched her heart, glad to know her boyfriend and brother were okay. Johnny smiled, happy to know his sister and brother-in-law were back to normal, while the others all sighed happily.
"Spidey defiantly needs to fill us all in on what's happened." Black Widow said.
"He can tell you all tomorrow, Nat." Capt. Marvel said. "Due to how late it is, he'll probably wanna check on his friends and family."
"Agreed." Tony said. "We might as well all gather up here tomorrow then so he can explain."
"I think the other members of the Fantastic Four and the X-Men should be here as well." Johnny agreed.
"Ah agree." Rogue said. "It'd would be fair."
Everyone in the room nodded.
(Warehouse)
Ghost Spider lowered her hand and glared at Black Cat, for she had a feeling he might put the moves on her boyfriend, who stood near her.
"I'm surprised you came over to help us, Cat?" Spider-Man said, folding his arms.
"When I saw how bad this infection had caused, I felt I had to do something." Black Cat said. "I may be a thief, but even I have my limits and bounders."
"Yeah, right?" Spider-Man scoffed, folding her arms.
"I'm serious." Black Cat said. "I may steal, but I always make sure no one gets hurt in the progress, expect for some guards that is."
Spider-Man and Ghost Spider both glared at her, as Shadow-Spider and Spider-Woman came up on either side of her, as they'd been told about the break-in at E.S.U, one rule they'd all made when they formed the Web-Warriors; tell them everything that's happened.
"You know, if it wasn't for you, this whole event might never have happened!" Spider-Man said.
"My fault?" Black Cat questioned. "What do you mean?"
"That time you robbed E.S.U and stole those spiders and animal DNA?" Spider-Man said. "Remember that?"
"Yes, but... Wait, you mean I stole those things for the Jackal?" Black Cat inquired, shocked.
"Shocked, are you?" Ghost Spider frowned.
Black Cat looked at her and the other Web-Warriors, before turning back to Spider-Man.
"I swear, I didn't know. When I handed them to him, he wore a mask." she explained.
"Well, you helped him cause a lot of pain to many people." Spider-Man said. "Everyone who's mutated into some animal has been his handiwork, due to you stealing him the DNA samples."
Black Cat actually looked speechless by this news, as her mouth fell open.
"This is just like when you stole that amulet for Mordo, that zapped me into another dimension." he added.
"Well, I..." Black Cat began.
"He was planning to use that to bring a evil entity from another dimension using that thing!" Ghost Spider frowned.
Black Cat looked at her, shocked by that news.
"I...I didn't know that either." she assured.
Spider-Man and Ghost Spider both glared at her, while Shadow-Spider and Spider-Woman both looked more sympathetic, as they knew about the dimensional hop Spider-Man had gone through.
"I swear." Black Cat swore, holding up her hands. "Spidey, if I-"
"Don't you call him that!" Ghost Spider frowned. "You don't deserve that after all you've done!"
Black Cat backed away slightly, till she made it to the edge of the rooftop. She turned and saw everyone down below was too distracted, before she looked at them all.
"I guess it's time for goodbyes then." she said. "See you, Spidey."
She blew him a kiss, making Ghost Spider angry, before she jumped off the rooftop and out of sight. The four Web-Warriors all ran to the edge of it, but saw no sign of her anywhere.
"Oh, great! She's gone." Spider-Man groaned. "I hate when she does that!"
"That makes two of us!" Ghost Spider frowned.
"Just who was that girl?" Shadow-Spider asked. "She seemed...friendly and helpful."
Spider-Man and Ghost Spider both turned to him, as Spider-Woman looked between them all.
"Oh, you two don't know the half of it." Ghost Spider said, folding her arms.
"What do you mean?" Spider-Woman inquired.
"That's Black Cat, a notorious cat burglar we've encountered a few times." Spider-Man explained. "One of the few who's always given us the slip."
"And she's my biggest rival." Ghost Spider frowned.
Spider-Woman and Shadow-Spider both looked at her.
"She's tried to seduce Spidey every time she's met him." she explained.
"It's true. She once even kissed me when I tried to get her alone." Spider-Man explained.
"Ouch. No wonder you two don't like her much." Shadow-Spider said. "We'll get her one day, together."
"I hope so." Ghost Spider agreed. "I've got a score to settle with her."
They all looked down from the rooftop, seeing the other heroes all standing together, with the civilians all doing the same in the street nearby, and they can see this nightmare was over.
The next morning, Spider-Man met up with the members of the Avengers, the X-Men and Reed Richards in the Avengers tower, all sitting around the table in the conference room. The members there with him and Reed were Carol, Kitty, Bruce, Jen, Jessica, Scott, Thor, Natasha and Beast, while the other members of their teams were all around the tower. Gwen and Miles weren't there at all as they were both at FEAST, due to the chaos the Spider Island mess had caused, meaning school was closed for the rest of the week.
"So, care to tell us what's been going on, Spidey?" Tony asked.
"Yeah? Those of us who didn't get powers like you and the other Spiders have told us we mutated into monstrous Man-Spiders." Scott said.
"It's true." Spider-Man assured. "You all mutated into one each."
The other heroes who hadn't mutated all nodded.
"It wasn't pretty, boys." Carol assured. "Practically everyone infected with the virus mutated, expect that girl Bruce tested the cure on."
Reed, Jessica, Tony, Scott, Beast and Natasha all looked confused.
"She was in the Tower with us when the cure was spread." Thor explained.
"Oh." Natasha said. "That Latin girl."
"Well, how come she wasn't like us then?" Tony inquired.
"Several people were mutating slower than most, including her." Kitty explained. "We ended up testing the prototype cure on her when she started to mutate."
"She only lost her powers like everyone else when we spread the proper cure." Carol added. "She ended up helping Bruce and Dr. Connors by keeping you guys at bay until me and the others got here."
"Wait, Dr. Connors?" Reed questioned. "Dr. Curt Connors?"
"Yeah." Spider-Man nodded. "I know him personally."
"Well, I'll be... I've heard of him." Reed said. "He's a brilliant scientist who teaches at Empire State University."
"Indeed he is." Bruce agreed. "I couldn't have made the cure without him, despite him having only one arm."
The other scientific heroes lowered their heads slightly, who all sat close together.
"It's not your fault, guys." Jen assured. "You couldn't control yourselves."
"You were all more beast than man." Jessica explained. "He had you all completely under your control."
All the heroes who had mutated all looked down slightly.
"I'm glad you know people out there who can help, Spider-Man." Tony said.
"Just how do you know, Dr. Connors?" Reed inquired.
Everyone who had mutated turned to Spider-Man.
"Ghost and I have helped him out a few times in the past." he explained.
"It's true." Bruce assured. "He told me himself when Pryde and I met him."
"What have you two done for him to owe you his life, Spidey?" Natasha asked, folding her arms.
"I... It's not my secret to tell." Spider-Man said truthfully. "Let's just say, one of his experiments went wrong, and I helped him out. We only told Shadow in case it comes back since we haven't been able to sort it out."
Jessica frowned slightly, while the others all looked understandable.
"Guess he's hiding something but it's something he's trying to make up for?" Scott deduced.
"Yes." Spider-Man said.
"Sounds like he might come in handy you know." Tony said.
"With us trying to cure all the Jackal's mutations, I agree." Beast said. "An extra hand would help. Is there anything he's trying to do, my friend?"
"He's trying to cure Electro, since he accidently caused his mutation." Spider-Man explained honestly.
"Electro?" Bruce inquired. "That blue guy made of electricity SHIELD's currently holding."
"Yes." Spider-Man sighed.
The scientific heroes all looked at each other, as they all were thinking the same thing.
"Perhaps we can help him with that, and maybe his other problem, if he can help us out." Tony said.
"I agree." Reed said. "If he can help Bruce create a cure for that Spider-Virus, he might be able to help us cure all the Jackal's creations."
"I agree with that." Jessica said, getting their attention. "The Jackal got his DNA samples for those by hiring someone to steal animal DNA from E.S.U."
"A rhino, a bear, a bee and a bunch of spiders?" Bruce inquired.
"Bingo." Jessica nodded. "Isn't that right, Spidey?"
"Yes." Spider-Man said. "Molten Man's the only one he did use animal DNA on."
"And since he's still out, he's bound to try again." Reed realized. "This guy won't give up 'til he's either behind bars or dead."
"I think everyone here can agree with that." Scott said. "He's almost as bad as Trask is."
The others all nodded in agreement.
"And all because he's obsessed with Gwen." Beast sighed sadly.
"We really need to find him and put him in SHIELD custody then." Natasha said.
"It's a petty he got away back at the warehouse." Kitty said.
"At least we got all his stuff, so hopefully, he won't be able to repeat this madness." Spider-Man hoped.
"Right, well, guess that's it then." Tony said. "We all better go and check on the others."
They all nodded, before they all filed out of the room, to check on their fellow heroes spread throughout the tower.
A little later, Spider-Man stood on the landing pad alone, looking over at the city, and was about to swing off, when Spider-Woman came up behind him, her mask on.
"You didn't tell them the truth about Dr. Connors back there, did you?" she asked.
"No, I didn't. At least not the full truth." Spider-Man sighed, turning to her.
"Care to tell me what it is then?" Spider-Woman asked. "Us Spiders shouldn't have secrets between each other, Peter?"
"I know." Spider-Man said. "I just don't know how the others will react."
Spider-Woman folded his arms and gave him a look that meant she was serious.
"If I tell you, you have to promise not to say a word to anyone else, Jess?" he asked.
"That'll depend on what it is." Spider-Woman said. "Tell me first?"
Spider-Man sighed and whispered into her ear about Dr. Connors being the Lizard, which had shocked her.
"Oh, blimey." she gasped, lowering her arms. "No wonder you're..."
"Yes. I respect Dr. Connors that much, and since it was just an accident, I didn't wanna expose him, for his family's sake." Spider-Man explained. "Ghost and I look up to him a lot. We've been trying to fully cure him since, and he made us promise if we couldn't..."
"I get it." Spider-Woman understood. "I promise I won't tell the others unless Dr. Connors lets you guys tell them. Same for our other friends back there. Web-Warriors secret."
"Thanks, Jess." Spider-Man said.
"Still, this would explain why he was among those not infected by the virus." Spider-Woman deduced.
"That's what Ghost and I figured when we thought of him." Spider-Man said. "The others must've all been out of the blast radius like Johnny."
Spider-Woman nodded. "That Police Capt. Gwen's Dad, isn't he?" she asked.
"Yes." Spider-Man nodded. "Shadow's Dad was there as well."
"What about your Aunt?" Spider-Woman asked.
"No, she wasn't infected." Spider-Man assured. "She's with the others, as she works at FEAST."
"Good to know." Spider-Woman said.
Spider-Man turned to walk off, when she grabbed his arm.
"Before you go, I need to tell you something, Pete." she said.
Spider-Man turned to her.
"What is it?" he asked.
"It's about your sibling." Spider-Woman said.
Spider-Man gasped, as due to all the chaos Jackal had been doing, he hadn't thought about that, and since she and Black Widow were SHIELD, he figured they must know.
"Have you found them?" he asked.
"Not quite, but we are getting close." Spider-Woman assured. "I'm sure we'll find him or her soon. I'll let you know if we get anymore leads."
"Thanks, Jess." Spider-Man said, touching his shoulder.
Spider-Woman smiled, before they hugged each other like siblings, before they pulled apart.
"You better go and check on your other friends." Spider-Woman said.
"I will, and thanks for the news." Spider-Man said.
He jumped off the balcony and began to swing off through the city, as Spider-Woman stared at him.
Meanwhile, somewhere down in the sewers, the Jackal was sitting behind a table he'd managed to find and drag down with him.
"I can't believe it!" he growled. "All my hard work ruined!"
He slammed his fists into the table in anger, fuming over having lost all of his resources, as he'd had no chance of getting any during his escape.
"I've lost everything thanks to those web-headed menaces!" he growled.
He got up and walked off angrily, before he stopped at a small wall, which had four pictures of Gwen on, which was all he'd managed to recover from his warehouse base. Two had her laughing, one was torn in half, as Peter had been on the other side, while the fourth had her in her pink and white stripped bikini, as he'd taken that one when she was at Coney Island Beach three weeks ago.
"My plans to rule and make Gwen Stacy my bride have been ruined!" he growled.
He ran a finger down the picture of Gwen in her bikini.
"I'll make her mine no matter what those freaks say, especially that Ghost Spider." he thought.
He turned around and walked off towards the table.
"If it hadn't been for those web-heads, none of my previous plans would've failed and Parker would be dead now." he growled. "They've made a powerful enemy by stopping me from obtaining what's rightfully mine!"
He slammed his fists into the table.
"I swear they will pay dearly for this!" he vowed. "I will have my revenge on them, and then, one way or another, I will have Gwen Stacy!"
He laughed evilly as he held his arms up, as the Web-Warriors hadn't seen the last of him.
Meanwhile, in her apartment, Anya was sitting on her bed in her bedroom, thinking about all that had happened last night.
"Still can't believe what happened." she thought. "I got to work with Spider-Man, some of the Avengers and other heroes, and helped save the city. It's a pity I had to lose my powers in the process, but, it was for a good cause."
She got up and stretched her arms out.
"It's a pity the Jackal escaped, despite everything." she thought bitterly, as it had been all over the News this morning. "I hope he doesn't try anything else or come after Gwen again. That old pervertido makes me sick for what he was doing just to get her."
She walked off towards the bathroom, but when she opened the door, she found her hand stuck to it.
"Huh?" she muttered.
She pulled on her hand, but still found it stuck to the door, stressing her slightly.
"How in the...? Wait, what did Peter say?" she thought.
(Flashback)
Anya was stuck to the ceiling in a classroom at Midtown High, as Peter, Gwen and Miles all looked up at her.
"Anya, you're stressed." Peter explained. "Spider-Man told me when he first started out, he had to learn the hard way. You need to relax so you don't stick permanently to stuff."
(Flashback ends)
Anya sighed and clamed down, then was able to pull her hand off the doorknob.
"How did that happen?" she thought. "I thought everyone was cured? Unless...?"
She began to think back to when she started mutating in Dr. Connors lab, forcing the heroes there to test the prototype cure on her.
"Could it be that since it wasn't ready, I was immune to the proper cure, but won't mutate either?" she thought.
Deciding to test to be sure, she entered the bathroom, closing the door behind her, then jumped up, finding herself stuck to the ceiling.
"Wow! I still have my Spider powers!" she gasped.
She jumped down from the ceiling, then shot an organic web from her right wrist, which hit the sink, confirming her theory.
"Well, this is a surprise." she thought. "Still, what am I supposed to do with these powers?"
She put her hand on her chin and began to think about what Spider-Man had told her while they were working on the cure.
(Flashback)
Anya sat on the lab table at E.S.U, as Spider-Man stood near her.
"Why do you and the others do this?" Anya asked. "I mean, when you got your powers, which obviously had to have been from a different source, why do you use them to help people?"
"Because the man who was like a father to me died because of my actions." Spider-Man explained. "One of the last things he told me, was 'With great power, comes great responsibility'. I didn't use my powers responsibly when I first got them, and he paid the price."
(Flashback ends)
"With great power, comes great responsibility." she quoted, knowing what she was gonna have to do with her powers. "Well, looks like there's a new spider in town."
She smiled as she looked at herself in the mirror, knowing she had to be like the other Web-Warriors out there.
"Still, if they all wear masks to protect themselves for their friends and families' sake, I'll have to do the same." she realized. "Guess I better work on a costume and train myself before I show myself to the city."
She turned around and faced away from the mirror, knowing her life would never be the same again, but she wasn't gonna change it, knowing the repsonsibility she now had.
Spanish translation:
pervertido: Pervert.
A/N: I had the Jackal escape custody as I've got something big planned for him in Season 4, but he won't be appearing again this Season.
While Anya still has her powers, she won't join the Web-Warriors for a few more chapters, just so you all know.
