"The Vampire Strikes Back part 2"
Happy Halloween Eve, everyone! Please enjoy and review!
As usual, when the group split up to search for clues, Fred took Daphne and Velma with him while Daisy and Veemon went off with Shaggy and Scooby who basically clung to the duo of Miracles.
The quartet wandered inside a large room that was filled with dusty pots and wooden shelves.
"Whoa, guys! Looks like we've wandered into the castle's kitchen. How do you think that happened?" Shaggy asked.
"I don't know." Scooby shrugged.
"Maybe it's because you guys always search for the place that has food when the gang splits up." Veemon commented.
"Maybe the vampire's hiding in the refrigerator." Shaggy suggested as he walked over to the fridge.
"I doubt that Shag. It's more likely he's hiding in a closet or hidden room." Daisy said as she patted Scooby on the head, settling his nerves.
Humming in agreement, Shaggy opened the fridge door to reveal the food that was inside.
"Bingo! No vampire and a full fridge." Shaggy laughed.
Scooby walked over to peer inside.
"But what if the vampire shows up for a quick bite?" Shaggy wondered.
"We're in a kitchen. It's filled with things we can use as weapons. Pots, pans and knives." Daisy stated.
"Easy, Buffy." Veemon chided as he took hold of his partner's hand.
Myotismon had left a mental scar on Daisy and now she hated vampires with a passion.
She always hid this issue from the other DigiDestineds, but Willis Stuart and Ken Ichijouji knew about it.
Just then, Scooby held up a garlic clove and Shaggy sniffed it.
"Garlic? But vampires hate garlic. Oh, brilliant idea! Let's get cooking!" Shaggy exclaimed.
This statement made the duo of Miracles perk up, large smiles on their faces.
"Ooh, let's make lasagna and mix the garlic in the sauce!" Daisy clapped her hands together, excited to cook.
"And make cheesy garlic knots!" Veemon's eyes sparkled at the idea of a feast.
Scooby licked his lips in anticipation at the meal that would be prepared.
Shaggy quickly went to the cupboards and started searching for ingredients while Daisy looked for an apron to cover her clothes and tied up her hair to keep it out of the way as she worked.
Daisy and Shaggy worked together to mix the dough for the garlic knots while Veemon and Scooby cooked the noodles and burger meat for the lasagna.
The quartet were enjoying the peaceful atmosphere as they worked in the kitchen that they forgot that they were in an old spooky castle that had a vampire running around and a storm was going on outside.
While the garlic knots were cooking in the oven, Daisy worked with Veemon to put together the rest of the lasagna while Scooby and Shaggy worked on their own original recipes.
"I'm almost done with the garlic banana berry shake, Scoob. How about those peanut butter and garlic cookies?" Shaggy asked.
Humming happily, Daisy placed the lasagna in the oven and then took out the garlic knots that were now a golden-brown color.
They smelled delicious and Veemon took out the sauce to eat the knots with.
"Now this is a perfect midnight snack." Veemon grinned as he took a large bite of the hot, cheesy pastry.
Daisy laughed in amusement as she watched Veemon gorge himself before she joined in.
While the duo of Miracles was now munching on the knots, Scooby walked over to the second oven in the kitchen to check on the cookies he baked.
As everyone was preoccupied with their food, they didn't take notice of Regfield who entered the kitchen, curious over the sounds and smells that were coming from the room.
Turning, Scooby yelped in shock at the sight of the man and dropped the cookies on Regfield.
In his shock, Shaggy forgot to place the cover on the blender and accidentally covered Regfield with the smoothie he was making.
"Yikes!" Veemon yelped at the mess.
"What are you doing here in my domestic DOMAIN?!" Regfield shouted.
The hippy and his dog were both scared by the short man, but Daisy stepped forward, smiling as she held out the tray of cheesy garlic knots on it.
"We're cooking. Would you like some garlic knots? They're fresh from the oven." Daisy offered.
Regfield glanced up at the raspberry haired girl who was smiling down at him while Veemon stood at her side, Shaggy and Scooby cowering behind the blue dragon.
Staring into the kind face of the young woman, Regfield couldn't find himself able to stay mad and he sighed in defeat.
"Thank you. Make sure you clean up before you leave." Regfield relented as he took a garlic knot.
"Don't worry, we will!" Veemon waved.
As soon as Regfield left the kitchen, Shaggy and Scooby released breaths of relief.
"Like, that was a close one." Shaggy said.
Rolling her eyes, Daisy set the tray down on the counter and turned to face the males with her hand son her hips.
"All right boys, clean up this mess. We don't want to give Regfield a reason to kick us out of the castle." She told them.
"Like, don't you worry, Daze. We've got it covered." Shaggy gave a salute.
Scooby copied the action before he got down on all fours, using his tongue to clean up the cookies and smoothie that covered the floor.
Much to Daisy's disgust, Shaggy did the same.
Veemon gathered up the dirty dishes and took them to the sink so that he could start washing them.
Soon enough, the kitchen was cleaned up and the food was finished.
"Like, we did an awesome job here, guys." Shaggy said as he admired the food.
"Delicious!" Scooby licked his lips.
"Come on, we should go get the others. I'm sure everyone must be starving by now." Daisy suggested.
"I don't think anyone has eaten anything in hours. And the food might help everyone feel better about the vampire stalker." Veemon said.
With that said, the group began making their way out into the hall, intending to head off to the bedrooms so they could gather up their friends to eat.
But then were interrupted by the sound of wailing.
"What the heck was that?" Shaggy gulped as he latched onto Daisy's arm.
Scooby whimpered as he wrapped his body around Veemon, scared by the wailing noises that echoed around them.
"Someone might be in trouble. Come on." Daisy said as she dragged Shaggy with her.
Veemon latched onto Scooby's collar and forced the great Dane to follow him down the hall.
On their way, the quartet met up with Fred, Velma and Daphne who were returning from the area of the castle where ethe bed chambers were located.
"Oh, Daisy, you're all right!" Daphne exclaimed as she raced over to her cousin.
"Of course, I am. What happened with you guys?" Daisya sked as her cousin hugged her tightly.
"The Hex Girls were attacked by the vampire, and he turned Dusk into a bat." Fred revealed.
"What?!" Veemon and Daisy yelled while Scooby and Shaggy clung to each other in fear.
"There's no proof of that. Luna said there was a flash of light and a bat appeared while Dusk was no where to be seen. That isn't proof that she was turned into a bat." Velma scolded.
"Poor Impmon was so upset. It all just happened so fast." Daphne frowned sadly.
Thorn may be Impmon's true partner, but he viewed the rest of the Hex Girls as his humans whom he needs to protect.
"We also found a secret room. It had a chest filled with things that belonged to Steve's family, including a birth certificate." Velma informed.
"This castle is way too much of a horror movie cliché." Veemon commented.
Just then, the wailing started up again making everyone gasp.
"Come on, gang, I think the Hex Girls are in trouble!" Fred exclaimed.
With that said, Fred led the group off to a large room where Luna and Thorn were located, standing in the center as they were cowering away from a horde of ghosts.
Impmon was standing between the two women, glaring up at the ghosts as sparks flew from his fingers, getting ready to use his powers.
As soon as the gang raced over to help their friends, the ghosts faded away and an angry voice spoke up.
"Cut! Cut! Cut!" JJ Hakimoto yelled.
The director of the music video was attached to a crane as he filmed the scene and he was glaring down at the people who had raced into the room, ruining his shot.
"What is going on here?" JJ demanded.
"Sorry, Mr. Hakimoto. We thought the Hex Girls were being tormented by the vampire again." Velma explained.
Seeing the upset expression on his friend's face, Veemon placed a hand on Impmon's shoulder, trying to comfort him.
"Oh, I wish. If he does show up, I'm going to capture him on film. I'll be rich and famous. After that, JJ Hakimoto presents; anything he wants." JJ grins.
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think tempting a vindictive vampire is a wise career move." Velma advised.
"Just when you think its safe to go back into the castle, JJ Hakimoto presents; Forever Fangs! The castle where no one can hear you scream." The Japanese man boasted.
Just then, JJ released a loud scream that made everyone jump in surprise.
"Ooh, I've got chills. Can't you just see it?" JJ gushed, unaware of the vampire that walked up beside him.
"Oh, I can see it." Shaggy pointed at the vampire, making JJ curiously turn.
The vampire then opened his mouth and snarled loudly at the director.
Crying out, everyone took oof running.
The vampire chased everyone all around the castle, even following them outside where Velma handed him a bat shaped kite which attracted a bolt of lightening that struck him.
Next, the vampire chased after Fred with a sword.
Spotting a lit candelabra on a dresser in the hall, Fred grabbed it, hoping to use it as a weapon against the vampire.
Smirking, the vampire blew the flames out, unaware of Daphne sneaking up behind him and kneeling so that Fred could push the fanged man onto the floor.
When the vampire tried chasing after Daisy, he quickly learned that was a horrible idea since she whipped around and punched him in the face.
The raspberry haired girl would have continued her attack if Thorn hadn't wrapped her arms around Daisy's waist and dragged her off to where Luna, Veemon and Impmon were hiding.
Soon enough, the group ended up getting split up once again as they were running through the halls, trying to find a safe place to hide from the vampire.
Daisy and Veemon came across Shaggy, Scooby, Fred, Velma and Daphne.
They all banded together and ran outside where it was still lightly storming.
"Looks like we lost him." Fred said.
"For now." Velma commented.
"How the heck does he keep finding us?" Veemon complained.
"At least we're a lot safer out here in this…" Shaggy trailed off.
Taking a proper look at the area around him, Shaggy was horrified to learn that he and Scooby had been hiding behind a gravestone.
They were in the Fortescu family cemetery.
"T-T-The graveyard?!" Shaggy yelped.
"There's no need to worry. We left the vampire in the castle. We're completely safe out here." Fred assured.
The light from the moon revealed the vampire's shadow creeping over Fred's as lightening struck.
Everyone began to quake in fear at the sound of the vampire's laughter.
A cloud of smoke appeared, making the group jump away from Fred, startled at their sight being stolen from them.
"What happened to Fred?" Velma asked when the smoke began to clear.
There was a sheet of paper on the ground, and it was moving.
Bending down, Velma picked up the sheet of paper and revealed a bat.
"Fred?" Shaggy and Scooby asked as they bent down to get a better look at the creature.
Flapping its wings, the bat took off into the night sky.
To be continued…
