Chapter: Stakes Hillaire

The world was spinning. Lady saw not one Master, but three. They were all so beautiful, wavering in front of her - A trio of identical worried, angsty gazes. Then his words started to penetrate the strange veil of incoherence that had struck her the moment the burning liquid graced her throat. It was the most disgusting thing she'd ever tasted, but she swallowed it all with dignity. There was no denying who'd out-drank the other this time. Lady couldn't help but grin smugly when she saw Chastity's shocked expression.

"Umbree?" Eva glanced back and forth between everyone - all the humans wore the same expression, mouth agape, bodies leaned forward as they waited for Lady to show some kind of reaction. All of them were looking at the smug little Kirlia like she'd explode any second now.

Avery touched the small psychic-type's head worriedly, cupping her little face with one hand. He dragged her closer by one thin, pale shoulder, inspecting her roughly. She squirmed at his invasive examination, but didn't move away, letting herself get prodded and touched. "I just don't get you. You act like a big mon, then you go and do shit like this. Lady, can't you just…" He trailed off, but the psychic-type trespassed easily into his tipsy mind, and the rest of his statement trickled into her awareness, a stream of wayward thoughts...

'Why can't you just behave? Fuck, you're so cute, that tinge on your cheeks. Damn it, Lady… I love you. I love you…' As always, his thoughts and actions didn't match his words. He had no idea how honest his body and thoughts were in comparison to his mouth.

"A-are you alright at least?"

In answer to her trainer's question, Lady nodded her head vaguely in the hopes that this moment would pass, yet Master continued to chastise her. She was dizzy, sure, but perfectly alright; he clearly saw it differently. The rest of his words didn't particularly interest her at the moment. When women he desired were around, she found all his decisions, opinions, and feelings to be suspect. Chastity and Lady had agreed, the dynamic had to change between the kirlia and her human, until he no longer pretended to see her as some kind of adopted daughter, a role she could never play for him, because she simply didn't want to. She drank because she wanted to, end of story, in her eyes.

As Master ranted and raved, some of the things he said were sensible, but the freckle-spotted kirlia found her thoughts drifting off nonetheless. She liked his hair grown out the way it was, worn back in a ponytail and showing off all the smooth planes of his strong, though pretty face. Such a man of contrast - Avery always looked at her like she was tempting him when they were alone, but for her, it almost felt the other way around. His soft mouth pulled into a stern frown was her favorite thing in the world, and right now his eyes, dark as the earth they'd just been in, simmered above a powerful scowl, his lips moving in a fierce tongue-lashing that bounced across absent ears.

Body seeped in liquor heat, mind viciously steeped in smug confidence at the moment, Lady felt an irresistible urge to move this way and that, to sway her hips and dance, and go far beyond everything they'd done so far, to truly tempt him. The kirlia wanted to slip into Master's lap, grind herself slowly, steadily into him. She wanted to feel his heat and his hardness. Yet he wouldn't stop giving himself to everyone else except her… her anger wrangled with her desire.

Perhaps her rash urges showed on her face, because to her right, Chastity was desperately waving her paws, urging her not to do anything irrational. Annoying advice, but advice she needed. The kirlia fought the urge to completely ignore the presence of human society around them, but just barely. When Avery tugged her close, holding her gently, she sighed softly and let the rapid-pace pulsing of the alcohol that urged her to act subside.

Drinking alcohol was tame compared to eating a human being's essence. She'd control herself. Perhaps an odd reflection, but an inevitable one. Lady caressed Avery's hair as he pressed his face close, and his worried mudslide eyes simmered into her as he pulled away slightly, looking her up and down. "Lady… Are you really alright? Do you wanna go? I don't mind, promise."

"Kirl Kirlia," Of course she didn't want to go! They just got here. 'Master, I'm fine. Let me go.'

"I don't know, Lady…"

Aggravatingly, he second-guessed her despite asking her how she felt. With a brush of psychic-energy, she cast his hands off and began to walk back to her seat, but she'd only made it a few feet across the table-top when suddenly her head went dizzy, and she found herself stumbling. The alcohol was harsher than she thought, perhaps… not that she'd thought about that decision at all. She'd just felt Master and Roxanne's mixed, sour arousal, and she'd known she had to do something. The kirlia did a slight, chaotic twirling motion as she managed to catch her footing, but the damage was done.

Face flushed, she noticed Roark smirking slightly, and the Gym Leader leaned over. "Aww, poor, drunk thing. She's a mess."

"Kirlia!" 'I'm not a mess!'

"L-Lady, I really don't mind bringing you home, if you need me to… okay?"

Master's voice was really aggravating her right now. Humiliated from her near fall, she glowered back at him, ignoring everyone else's presence. Didn't he get it? She wanted to be here, with him. She didn't care about anything else but that, and yet he kept asking her that damn question. Rather, he should be honest. He was the one that wanted to escape. He was the one who was staring at her like she was a sensual thing tempting him, when she was just his other half, so obviously his desires were natural…

Sometimes, Lady wanted to cry. Avery obviously craved the gentle innocence of his first days with her, but she couldn't offer that to him. She'd grown, discovered things about herself, about humans, about the world, that she couldn't go back from. If Master would only pin her down and give her his everything, she'd become the innocent, tame thing he wanted her to be when he earned it.

"Oh, come on, don't patronize her. She's fine." Roxanne said suddenly, fiercely, and she gripped Lady on her right shoulder. She had a strong grasp for such a slender woman. The gym leader's smile was warm as she leaned near Lady's immediate left, her breath smelling of alcohol. Avery raised an eyebrow. "'Lady' said she's handling her alcohol, so let her handle it. C'mere, sit next to me."

This shot stuff… perhaps it was the real deal after all, because her mind felt strange. Woozy, she didn't have the urge to disobey the pig-tailed brunette. When Lady did as bid, slipping into the booth next to her, the rock-type Gym Leader turned her pretty, mature face to peer at the Kirlia. The dress-clad woman was awfully pretty, and busty. Lady had never realized how much she appreciated that part of the human anatomy, perhaps because the last human she'd seen with a body even slightly close to Roxanne's had been the evil Vanessa. As she leaned close, warm body touching Lady's, Roxanne's breasts fell forward, dangling slightly, deep cleavage staring out at Lady.

"I'm Roxanne, the Gym Leader of the Rustboro Gym back in Hoenn, it's nice to meet you, Lady. I hope you don't mind the formal introduction; I find it's useful to establish some bare bones respect with another person's mon right from the start." Lady shrugged vaguely, not caring either way. Roxanne smiled, and her pale cheeks turned pink. "Oh wow… you're such an independent-minded mon. So adorable…"

Lady read the rest of her thought pattern without even wanting to, unable to help herself in her liquor haze. Roxanne's thoughts were almost violatory in their forwardness. 'She's so, sooo adorable. If he's a Pokelover too, has he played with that lovely little body? Somehow, I get the vibe that he hasn't. A certain tension that I just can't help but want to snap. Oh, I'd love to watch, I want to see this pretty boy do so many filthy things to this little-.' Horrified, Lady extracted herself. Gasping, she became aware of the soaked heat building in her depths from the disgraceful fantasies. Roxanne's thoughts were a fast, violent river, and Lady was almost swept away. Anxious suddenly, she felt an urge to regurgitate all she'd drunk thus far, muscles flexing in her gut and throat.

Roark couldn't resist getting involved in the conversation with Lady as well, "You're a strong-willed Pokemon, aren't you? You psychic-type's tend to be. I imagine with Avery having the ability to communicate with you battles go easily?" The red-haired gym leader chuckled when Lady raised her chin, and pointed her face away, clearly disinterested in him and any questions he had to ask. Avery was horrified.

"H-Hey Lady, don't just talk with Roxanne. That's rude, come on." Avery muttered, hiding his embarrassment with a hand.

Master stared at the gym leader apologetically, and his dopey brown eyes grew soft as he lowered his head in submission, as always. "Sorry, she's… particular."

"It's no problem. I'm not exactly known for my communication skills... I hope eventually we can be friends, Lady."

If he was as perverted and rude as this Roxanne girl, Lady had no interest in that!

"I need some food. I hope that server comes back… Lady, you better gobble down whatever I order, alright? You need to fill your stomach up, or you'll probably be sick."

The kirlia felt a desire to rebel, but just nodded.

Across the table, Chastity sighed and scooted in closer to Eva. She'd been hoping to explore the establishment with Lady, but that was clearly not going to happen now. She thumped one paw on the leather of the seat. 'That damn kirlia. She's always doing whatever she wants! I thought we were gonna go play around…' "Bun bun…" Dejected, Chastity pouted, staring at her empty drink. She'd have to wait for now, just observe. Might as well make small talk with the "obedient one" as she'd taken to calling the Umbreon.

"Hey, Eva, do you want to go explore?"

The umbreon seemed shocked to be addressed by her fluffy counterpart. It wasn't just Lady she'd been arguing with before they'd entered Coronet, after all. While not as uppity, respectful of Chastity's trainer-bond with Avery to some minimal degree, Eva still felt certain ways about the buneary. Her disdain was obvious. "The last time I explored a human place like this, it didn't go very well."

"Last time was last time. Who cares about last time?"

Eva's glow-ring lined ears twitched, and she inhaled, crimson eyes ablaze with sudden aggravation. She was so annoyed she even sucked down a few more mouthfuls of her vile drink before she spoke. "I do. Now, take a hint… I'm not interested."

"Hmph. Fine then. You're just mad Avery mated with me first," Chastity decided, smiling smugly. "You can't handle even being my friend, because you remember how we first met! Him, on top of me, you-"

"Oh, wow… f-fine," Eva muttered, "I'll come, but only because someone needs to watch over you. You two are so annoying, you can never behave!"

"Bun bun!" Chastity suddenly blurted, interrupting the conversation between Lady, Roxanne, Roark, and her human. Her intention was clear as she pointed her paw towards the vividly-lit club, the sea of human faces and sounds and scents intensely appealing. It was clear Eva didn't feel the same way. The umbreon scowled as she trotted over and hopped the booth at Chastity's side.

Avery stood, and with his above average height compared to the others present, he seemed comically tall at that moment. His expression was soft, worried. "Oh, come on, you're wandering off?"

"And why shouldn't they?" Roxanne commented, "they're bright spirits that are currently bored. You don't have to be a hover trainer."

Avery flashed her a nightmarishly angry look. "We all just stopped being separated. I'm just trying to prevent problems," Avery groaned, "like my Pokémon getting shit faced. I can't keep track of them all, especially when they go wherever they want."

"Welcome to caring about people in a dangerous world, why control, instead of offering a guided path forward? You shouldn't have to watch over them, these are beings trusted to be the guardians of small children," Roxanne said with a flourish of her hand, and she leaned over the table, cupping her fine-featured face and peering at Chastity. "Hey, you, be careful alright? And one of us will stay right around here, so if you get lost in the big building, or have a problem, you can just come right back here. And remember, humans can't hold up against Pokemon, so don't hesitate to defend yourself."

Chastity's eye twitched. Mouthy human, wasn't she!? Chastity was obviously going to be careful; she had a future to plan for, and her trainer was so adorable there was no way she was going to let herself get stolen or lured away. Chastity made a rude gesture with her furry bum, shocking the silver-tongued gym leader, and hopped away. Eva dragged herself after her, glancing apologetically back at Avery, who just sighed and sat back down.

"Don't be gone long," he called after them, "Be good, Chastity. Eva, please watch over her…"

"Umbree!"

It was much better than the mansion, Chastity decided.

Humans were as diverse as Pokemon, it always shocked her when she was in a massive group of them. In the place she'd been raised, she saw them on a short-term, limited basis. A lot of the men here were all big and muscley, covered in dirt, gesturing this way and that as they drained beers and talked to each other, big fighting types and cave Pokemon sitting squat around them. The brilliant, many-colored lights flashed across their sweat, the very same lights emphasizing the odd glittery, balls suspended in the air sporadically on the curved ceiling.

Chastity and Eva approached a few women who were playing a card game at a table, her interest not in the game, but the Lopunny that was splayed out at a dark-haired lady's side. The little bunny swallowed hard, nervous. It was always intimidating approaching a Pokemon you were bound to evolve into, but at least this Lopunny was more friendly-seeming than most second-stages. She was wearing such stylish clothing, human-style clothing , and her trainer was equally stylish. The bodysuit looked wonderful on her, made of leather, accentuating her frame.

As she slowly walked over, the human glanced up in vague interest. "Hmm? Can I help you?"

Lopunny had been closing her eyes, legs curled together as she splayed out in the booth. Now, she peeked one dark eye open, peering at little Chastity, who stood there blushing. The lopunny's legs split open as the long-limbed, lithe normal-type sat up, ears bouncing visibly. Chastity thought she was well-groomed, but never had she seen fur so smooth and silken, ears that moved so majestically, fluffy down fur seeming to glitter. She was beautiful… and then the smell hit her, and she realized "she" wasn't a she at all. Chastity grew a little tongue-tied when she noticed the bulge underneath the Lopunny's clothes.

"B-Bun bun…" Of course, the humans didn't understand her, but the Lopunny did.

"My trainer bought them for me. She buys me whatever I want," The lopunny said, "I bet she still has some of my old clothing. How about you join me, have a seat, and we get to know each other?"

"W-What a creep," Eva blurted, "hey, she's taken! Don't look at her like that."

Chastity scowled. "Don't speak for me! I'm not taken." She fluttered her eyelashes and hopped up next to him. Somehow, she found it incredibly alluring that he passed himself off as the same sex as her. While this exchange took place, the lopunny's lady was glancing from face to face, scratching the back of her head. Now, she turned back to her card game, disinterested. Apparently, little bunearys being fans of him wasn't unfamiliar to her.

Eva had way more interest in the human's game than Chastity's flirtatious conversation. She didn't even understand why she'd been dragged off, the start of their "exploration" was pretty lame thus far… her eyes skimmed over the token-like pieces being scooped up and placed in certain places, Pokémon faces etched onto the surface of the tokens. Very familiar faces. It seemed that almost all the art on the little pieces were those of her own evolution line. It was beautiful art, the human who made it must've been very talented. Eva didn't know how to feel when she noticed the piece with her own dark-furred face on it.

The lopunny's black-haired human, whose rose-tipped locks went this way and that, smiled fondly in her direction, noticing her interest. "Hmm, you wanna play?"

The two other human girls stared at the Umbreon expectantly, who grew bashful. She had no idea how to. Her thoughts must've shown on her face.

"We'll teach you," one of the women chirped cheerfully, "don't worry, Elements is easy. Humans and mons can play, it's a strategy game!"

Lopunny's trainer grinned. "Seriously, it's 0-stakes, super casual… beats listening to them flirt, right? My name's Tatiana. C'mere, scoot up next to me."

Eva gritted her fangs, red eyes peering at the glittering gameboard on the table, and all the tokens on them. Then, she nodded, and hopped on the seat next to the woman, placing her paws at the edge of the table. For some odd reason, her heart was racing.

"Don't be nervous," Tatiana giggled, "what you're feeling… that's the thrill of the gamble. Now, let's reset the board. First thing you should know, the placement of the first Ve is exceptionally important…ah, ve is the name for the tokens, you see… here, check them out. So, you put down three at the start of the game face down… both players do, and-"

For some reason, I had thought Lady was going to make a huge commotion. That she was going to grab me with her soft little hands and place a kiss right on my lips right in front of everybody… but she didn't do that. Face flushed, the Kirlia's ruby eyes gleamed, huge and brilliant in the vivid lights of the club, but she wasn't even talking to me right now, and neither was Roxanne. They were opposite me, talking to each other, in the odd way that a human and Pokémon do, half a guessing game.

I was grateful when the server arrived. I ordered a huge amount of food, and another drink for myself, pleased when the liquor at least showed up in short order. I tossed the drink back, breathing heavily.

My drunken thoughts raced round and round in my head as I observed the pair. Somehow, it felt like I'd faded into the background, especially with Eva and Chastity gone. It was me who was thinking about kissing Lady right now. Holding her in my arms… all I could focus on was the memory of the softness of her skin. I wanted her to nuzzle into my palm, wanted to see her lick and suck my fingers. I wanted her attention. Lady drove me crazy. She acted coquettish, so innocent at times, but wasn't it her who had stuffed that brush into herself like a little slut? Wasn't it her who was always, always tempting me? My head felt hot. I still had an erection from Roxanne's teasing a few moments ago.

'What the hell am I thinking?! What am I, some old geezer? Fuck… I knew I shouldn't have drunk more, but... Ugh. My head is swimming…'

My kirlia smirked, sighing softly, and she tilted her face at me. Suddenly, I knew she was aware of just how third-wheeled I felt, how much I wanted her at that moment.

"Hmm, I see. So, you're super new to battling… Well, it's a hard gig. If Avery isn't competent, you should be sure to hold him accountable, alright?" Roark said. "Anyways, since your mons dipped, mind if I scoot over next to you, Avery? I'd love to talk more business over our food," Roark commented pleasantly.

I made a vague gesture and didn't care either way. Roark sighed awkwardly. He was no doubt used to being a shadow in the room when the beautiful Roxanne was at his side. Somehow, I didn't buy that the two weren't dating.

"So, the first thing I have to ask… your psychic-powers, that incredible ability to communicate with Pokémon!" Roark's eyes gleamed, and he leaned forward, seeming almost like a man staring at a God at that moment. "What is it like, when did you learn how to do it… c-can I learn it?"

I groaned, the flood of annoying questions killing whatever was left of my good vibes. It was clear he wasn't interested in me as a person, but me as a "psychic." I had a feeling that this was going to start happening to me. Maybe there was a reason the psychic trainer's in Sinnoh were notorious for their cold, elusive attitude's - there was just something about them that the more mundane couldn't help but be attracted to. What was more fascinating to Roark, I wondered - the Sacred Stone he had been so desperate to find, or me, a man who could live amongst mons if I wanted to? After reading his entry in CJ Mixter's guidebook, I had a feeling he was my new biggest fan.

"Stop," Roxanne interjected, and at that moment, I considered her a hero. Then, she ran her foot up my thigh. "Leave him alone, okay?"

Why did it feel like women only ever valued me for one thing? No matter the kind of women they were, from Marissa, to Vanessa, and now this… I eased her foot off me, ignoring her pout, and sighed. "Roark, before we talk, I need food… and maybe another shot."
