Chapter 2
As Transyl carried the unconscious girl to another room, he didn't sense anyone else in the room, which proved fortunate as the person watching him was now angry, but was smart to know they needed help to take down Transyl. After a moment of thinking, the hidden figure knew exactly who to call, opening a transporter tube and beaming to Earth.
Transyl was too busy tying up the unconscious Blue Lantern and didn't hear a thing.
Batman was patrolling Gotham City, but he noted that he had not received any updates from the Watchtower for a few hours. "Computer, when was the last time an update from the Watchtower came in?" He asked.
"Last update was four hours ago, submitted by the Flash," the computer replied.
"That would have been him ending his shift and Hawkgirl coming in," he said to himself.
Suddenly, a figure appeared before him and he hit the breaks, just stopping in time before he hopped out of the Batmobile to check on the figure, who he could see was a girl in a yellow suit.
A Yellow Lantern suit to be exact.
He backed up. "Who are you?" He asked her.
She gasped. "You're Batman!" She said happily. "Midnight Hope's told me so much about you!" She held a clawed hand out for a handshake. "I'm Scream Light, and yes, I'm a Yellow Lantern, but I promise I use my powers for good."
"Nice to meet you," he said, shaking her hand.
She smiled. "I've been wanting to meet you for a long time," she admitted. "Ever since coming here to Gotham City. Though I did end up meeting Creeper instead of you first, but he's a neat guy to work with."
Batman blinked. "So you're the ghost girl Creeper talked about," he said. "You were looking into something."
"Yes," she said. "I'm looking into something for my friend, Dexter. His owner was murdered and we're trying to find out who did it."
"Any luck so far?" He asked.
"Only a little, but hopefully we'll get more soon," she said. "But right now, I really need your help, Batman. An evil alien vampire named Transyl has captured the other heroes, including Midnight Hope. He's taken over the Watchtower."
Upon hearing that, Batman nodded. "Can you tell me more about Transyl on the way?" He asked.
"You got it," she said as they jumped in and were soon racing to the Watchtower.
Inside the Watchtower...
"Hope, are you okay, kiddo?"
She groaned as she heard that voice and lifted her head, blinking her eyes open before looking around and seeing the heroes around her, but they all had strange, bat-like objects on their foreheads and were still like statues. "Guys, what are you doing?" She asked, noticing she was tied up too.
"Sorry, Hope, but we can't move right now," Flash said. "Whatever that vampire hit us with, we're no more than puppets right now."
"We can't even fight against him," Hal said, looking angry at that.
Hope looked at Atom, but he shook his head, indicating that he couldn't even use his own powers. "What is that vampire anyway?" She asked as she tried to think of a plan.
"He calls himself Transyl," Green Arrow said. "I think he might be alien. No offense, Superman."
"None taken," Superman said. "I've been getting that feeling too that our intruder is an alien."
Hope moved around and tried to get free of the cuffs that she realized were on her arms and legs. She realized she could move on her own and looked confused. "I can still move?" She asked.
"He hasn't hit you with whatever he uses to control us," Hawkgirl said. "At least not yet."
"Try to get free, kiddo. You're our only hope," Flash said.
Hal noticed his niece looked worried. "Hope, take a deep breath," he said. "And let it out slowly."
She did that and nodded before focusing on her ring, using her powers to form a key that she worked into the locks on her bonds, trying to work them free. "Hurry," Atom said urgently. "He's nearly going to be here soon."
Hope worked harder to get free, pausing when she saw Transyl come in and he grinned. "Ah, good, you woke up," he said, smirking.
"I'm guessing you're Transyl," she said.
"Lord Transyl," he growled. "You will address me correctly, human."
She glared at him. "If I didn't have my hands tied up, I'm punch you in your fangs," she said angrily.
"My, my, you are quite the smart alleck, aren't you?" He asked, grabbing her chin and forcing her to stand up. "Your energy levels are high for a hero, which makes you the perfect snack for me."
She glared at him. "I'll kick you if you bite my neck, bloodsucker!" She snarled as she secretly worked on the cuffs on her arms.
Transyl smirked. "Didn't they tell you?" He asked, gesturing to the others. "We Vladats don't feet on blood. We feed on energy."
Hope swallowed hard, not liking the sound of that as she saw his eyes widen and hypnotic swirls appeared in them. She shut her eyes tightly, her fear of hypnosis kicking in hard. Hal tried to move to help her, but he was helpless as the others were, all looking angry that they could do nothing to stop Transyl.
Silvania gasped as she felt Lea's fear spike. "Batman, hurry," she said urgently as they landed the bat plane in the bay. "Hope is losing hope and I don't mean that jokingly."
"Follow me," he said, showing her a hidden door as they entered in to avoid being detected right away.
Will they make it? Read on! :)
