It had been a week since the Oracle Fish told Lord Kakarot of the Evil Saiyan, and for that entire week, he had been training non-stop. He would not allow himself to fall to his new enemy.
As Cooler started to grow exhausted, and Broly had already collapsed from the training, he asked, Lord Kakarot, I understand the need to train for this Evil Saiyan, but we've been training night and day for a week now. Even Gods need rest."
Kakarot was panting and said, "Fair enough, I can't rely on Whis's healing techniques forever. Let's get some rest and something to eat."
As the two descended from the sky and landed on the ground, Cooler nearly collapsed to his knees and said, "As much as I enjoy training with you Lord Kakarot, this is too much for any of us to handle. Perhaps instead of nonstop training, perhaps learning some new techniques could be useful for this fight."
As Whis brought them lunch after healing Broly, he overheard Cooler's comment and nodded, "I have to agree my lord, there's nothing wrong with mastering a technique, but in a way, techniques are weapons, and you remember what I taught you about the problem with weapons."
Kakarot chugged down a glass of water and said, "Grow too attached to a weapon, it becomes a weakness instead of a strength. You're both right. Travelling Universe 7 would be a good experience, if not just for learning, to meet new warriors, and weed out any minor threats."
Broly took a bit of his meat and said, "It seems like a good idea to me. Plus, Cooler has a spaceship that can get us anywhere faster than you can say 'ready, set, go.' Not that Lord Whis is too slow, but that cube doesn't exactly provide adequate living conditions."
Cooler nodded, "I'll agree to that. I believe this is what could be considered a road trip. I honestly haven't done such a thing since I was a child. Before Frieza became a spoiled brat."
"Well then, it looks like we all agree. After we finish eating, we'll take some more rest and leave in the morning."
The next morning...
Kakarot woke up in his bedchambers and headed out to get ready for the trip with Cooler and Broly. As promised, he was going to go through with this idea. Instead of training day in and day out, he would focus on seeing what Universe 7 had to offer. He honestly was excited to see what the universe he was duty bound ro protect from harm, and even felt it was strange he'd never done before, and how little knowledge of his universe he had was a dangerous thing.
As Kakarot boarded Cooler's ship, Broly and Whis were there waiting for him. Whis smiled and said, "Good morning my lord, good to see that you're going through with this. I honestly expected you to think of a way out of this."
"I'm a man of my word Whis. Besides, you said this was a good idea, and I trust your judgement."
Cooler came out of the control rooms and told them, "My crew is programming the first coordinates, it's a planet called Yardrat. The natives use a lot of strange techniques, but they're not very strong, they rely on trickery and confusion to defend themselves."
Kakarot smiled, "Seems like a good idea to train with them, it can't hurt at the very least."
As the ship made its way to Yardrat, Kakarot stood in the mess hall to see the space going by them. As Cooler came up to him, he asked, "First time with space travel?"
"Yes, the last time I was in a spaceship was when I was an infant landing on Beerus's planet."
"Battle pods, of course. And scouters can't pick up on divine power levels. It's a good thing Beerus didn't kill you on the spot."
"I consider that to be destiny, not luck, he was sleeping for 39 years while I trained under Whis."
"Thirty-nine years of training with him? Must have been intense and rewarding. I've only trained with Lord Whis for a few months, and I'm just now gaining stability with my Golden form."
"Obtaining Divine Ki was never easy, but it any part of my life was easy, I'd have been God of Destruction long before Beerus even woke up."
"Did it ever bother you? Not having a family?"
Kakarot smiled lightly, "At first, it did. But Whis became like family to me. Then I met you. Then Broly. The two of you are like family to me. It's been like that since the day we met."
cooler chuckled, "Indeed, I've felt the same way for a while. Frieza and Cold were family by blood and by blood alone. I forsook that relationship a long time ago, but my Armored Squadron, they became family, and so did you. Given everything that's happened since that first day, if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing."
"Neither would I Cooler, and I think Broly feels the same way."
As the taller Saiyan came in, he said, "You're right. Cold and my father left me to die when they realized how strong you were, they knew I couldn't beat you, but they didn't care if I died. You've been more of a father to me than either of them."
"Thank you, Broly. I'd be proud if I had a son like you. You're a pure-hearted Saiyan, and you're one of the strongest fighters I've ever fought. There's nothing I would change about meeting you." although he didn't mention the truth about how he had Broly's memories altered after Cold and Paragus had been killed. He didn't know how his friend would take such news, so he left him in the dark about the incident.
And so, Kakarot, Cooler, and Broly explore the space of Universe 7, an intergalactic road trip. While they travel to see what the universe has to offer, they also travel to learn new techniques, always bettering themselves, in order to defeat the Evil Saiyan from the Oracle Fish's latest prophecy. With two Saiyans and a Frost Demon traveling the universe to save it, where will their next adventure lead them?
