To those of you who have known me for a very long while now... I ask that you do not judge me. Just recently I had binge watched some remaining Digimon Ghost Games episodes I hadn't seen, started going back to playing a bit of Digimon games, and even rewatched some good scenes in various Digimon seasons (minus the Applimon. That... That just doesn't really feel like Digimon to me, especially after the first episode). And because of that... as well as some inspirations from various Good Vs Evil anime...

Say 'hello' to my new story! This one a whole new Digimon story like you've never seen before!

Now then, without further ado, readers... Enjoy yourselves~

It was a sunny afternoon, as the sun shined down Copace High School's indoor pool from the window. Bodies jumped into a pool of water and swam at full speed to the other side, each in their respective lane. As they swam, the small audience around the pool cheered for their favorite swimmers to bypass the others. Specifically...

"Go, Kiran!"

"Umira-senpai, swim!"

"Full speed ahead!"

One individual in the middle lane swam at full speed, faster anyone could think possible for any normal teenager, as she reached the end of her lane and made a quick turn back. The swimmer repeated this process several more times, changing her swim style every two laps. Come the final lap, she practically slammed her hand against the wall, and brought her head up, panting as she looked up at the coach looking down at her.

"How was that, coach?" she asked.

A large smile rose on the coach's face at the question. "'How was it'?! You broke your personal record by three seconds, Kiran! As expected of our ace!" At her exclamation, several swimmers in the water finally finished their laps, and the swimmers watching from the sidelines all gathered around their coach to see the time their best swimmer got.

"Whoa! That is fast!"

"It's crazy to think this is from a high schooler!"

One swimmer turned to Kiran and asked, "Kiran, how the heck can you swim that fast?! Did you do some kind of special training?"

Kiran removed her swim goggles and answered, "Even if you ask me that, I didn't do much special training. I just like the water. Nothing more to it."

"So you say, but I have seen plenty of swimmers. Even if there are some that can make this record, or even beat it, I don't remember a high schooler who can make this. You really do have a gift," the coach said, as the bystanders helped the wet swimmers out of the water.

A smile formed on Kiran's face at those words, as she dried her face with a towel. She then looked up at the clock hung on the wall above and jumped at the time shown. "Wait, is it really that time already?! I need to head home!"

"Helping out at your parents' restaurant again?" the coach asked.

"Of course! I love to swim, but I also love to help out at my parents' restaurant. Especially since I get to swim lots in the ocean afterwards~! Gotta go! I'll see you all tomorrow!" Without another word, Kiran rushed to the changing room.

"Hey! Don't run in here!"

*OPENING**Stand Up By Twill*

(Instrumental)
(Scene begins with a reflection of a seagull flying across the ocean. Camera moves up to the real seagull, displaying it flying towards Fornia Town, and then to the sky. The seagull gets replaced by the title, a glare on the right side caused by the sun shining on it.)

Yeah, Stand Up Boys!
Come on, face forward
(Scene changed to Copace High School's swimming pool, where Kiran was swimming at full speed down her lane. Upon arriving at the edge, a small Digimon silhouette handed her a towel in which she used to dry her face.)
The call enveloping you is your guide; step towards tomorrow
(Her Digivice's screen lit up, alarming the pair, as Kiran swiped to open it. Camera zoomed in as she did, revealing a list of sort. Zooming out, scene changed to a male silhouette and a dragon-like Digimon in a library. The former pointed up and the latter flew to grab a book above them.)

Yeah, Stand Up Girls!
At the end of what's more than real
(As the Digimon opened the book and flipped through the pages, camera zoomed in to the book. The pages soon stopped flipping and camera zoomed out, now showing the same Digimon silhouette with a different human male silhouette, practicing some fighting skills displayed in the book out in a park.)
We'll grab a light that's been covered by thick clouds
(Camera flew to a tree behind them and went to the other side of the tree, where a female silhouette seemed to be singing with a different Digimon by her side. As the female silhouette sang the last few words, a breeze blew by, and the camera followed it to Vandalla Private Academy and zoomed into a window.)

How we spent our days before isn't good enough
At full speed
(A nun walked down the halls, greeting students who greeted her back. As she passed a large frame, a silhouette similar to the nun's walked alongside her, only to then stop and look back with a troubled expression)
We can blast through
Even the highest walls
(
Camera zoomed to the bustling city, where a crack suddenly formed and grew bigger, until a breach occurred)
Stand Up For Your Dream!
(Kiran and the three other Chosen instantly noticed the sound from their respective locations and turned to the source with a serious expression, and her Digivice lit up)

Be enthusiastic at what you do, no matter what it is
Pushing your way through to make an opening
(Each partner Digimon silhouette Digivolved into their Champion Level form)
No matter how far
The answer you're seeking is
(Enemy Digimon flooded out of the portal and had the Chosen and their partners surrounded)
Stand Up For Your Dream
(The Chosen took out a DigiChip from their person and inserted it into their Digivice)

Even if my feelings, show weakness
(Kiran's partner took out a group in a burst of speed. The Champion-level dragon Digimon obliterated a number with a fist full of malicious spirit)
Your voice that I hear close by
(The other Champion-level dragon Digimon took down an army with a swift and heavy tail swing. The angelic serpentine-like Digimon soared high to the sky and spread her wings out, emitting a dangerous aura before the remaining enemies)
Gives me courage and strength
(In the Council Room, the Royal Knights and Olympos XII all watched the battle occurring, with the camera zooming in on Omnimon)
I can go the distance
(Opening ends with the Chosen and their partners at their hideout.)

After changing out of her swimsuit and into her school uniform, Kiran took a bus ride back home, and arrived at Sunidale Beach. In most cases, people would be excited to be here, especially on a hot, summer day. For Kiran, who practically grew up at this beach, it was like any other neighborhood. One with lots of sand, and a good view of the water.

Alas, it was not the beach she was here for; it was a certain building by it. One that has plenty of customers dining in, with some on the patio, as she entered through the back door.

"I'm home!" she announced.

"Oh, Kiran! Welcome home!" her mom responded.

"You came at a good time. Our VIPs are going to be here soon. Can you go upstairs and check if room 204 is ready?" her father requested.

"Sure thing!"

Elsewhere, lightning struck the night sky, as the sound of battle rages about at what seemed to be a canyon. Be it on land or the sky above, or even in the roaring river below, there were creatures of all kind fighting against one another. Some seem human, others monstrous. Some robotic, some alive. Some tried to run from their enemies, not wanting to get involved in this big battle, only to be picked off by the pursuing foe. One thing was for sure, it was kill or be killed in this area.

Far from the battlefield, up in the sky above, past the clouds, there sat more creatures of various kind and size at a long table, watching the battle between the two sides from a large orb floating above their table. A battle... which had been going on for much longer than they liked.

"Omnimon! No matter how you look at it, there has been no change to the condition of this war at all! All that has been happening is nothing but endless bloodshed!" shouted a white humanoid panther in red, with large fangs poking out of its mouth, a pair of large gauntlets on his arms, and a black and red cape on its back. "Unless if something changes now, the war will never end!"

"Such disrespect. Do you really think our leader does not yet know that, Marsmon?" a blue humanoid being in gold armor scoffed. "Our leader has full understanding of the situation at hand. You need not to point out the obvious."

"As Magnamon said. Especially when we have already lost so much of our people. Even those amongst our ranks," a purple-armored individual pointed out, staring at a couple of the empty seats before them.

"Be that as it may be, Craniamon, Marsmon is also correct. Besides, even if we do win this battle, even if we do win this war, it will not truly end. Surely you know of the number of times we had to go through this, do you not?" an orange creature with long yellow mane, his body seemingly more armor-like rather than flesh. "Omnimon, I am sure you understand, but something must be done about this."

"You're right, Apollomon. Something has to be done," a white knighty creature calmly agreed. This one with an orange dragonhead gauntlet on one arm and a blue wolfhead gauntlet on the other. "Thankfully, Lord Yggdrasil has already ordered new arrangements to be made. For us to have additional force to join our ranks and be done with the demons."

"You're going to have us add more to our ranks? That will not do any good for us! All that means is sending more people to their deaths!" a white and blue humanoid creature with a pink scarf around her neck argued.

"Perhaps, if they were normal help, Dianamon." Many in the audience became confused by those words. "These are not some normal help we'll be getting. These help... will be from that world."

Surprised expressions then formed. That world? He couldn't mean...

"Omnimon, forgive me if I'm mistaken, but it sounds much like you're saying the help we'll be getting is from..." Magnamon trailed off.

"The Chosen? Yes, that is correct," a black knightly creature with what seemed to be wings on his shoulder and long yellow hair answered.

A commotion begun from this revelation.

"Help from the Chosen?"

"If we get their assistance, it will certainly change the tides of war."

"Not even the Demon Lords will be able to do anything against them. This will be a huge advantage for us!"

But with the many positive aspects, there were also some negative ones.

"Hold on a second," a masked blonde woman dressed in what seemed to be a Roman attire with a purple cape on her back spoke.

"Is there a problem, Junomon?" Omnimon asked.

"I wouldn't say that it's a problem, but if I recall, the only 'help' we will be receiving from the Chosen is that from the Digimon they're partnered up with. That being said, how are we supposed to see this as 'good'? When the only way any Digimon would get partnered up with the Chosen is by sending them to their location as a Digi-Egg?"

It was silent when she pointed that out. As Junomon said, the only way a Digimon can ever partner up with the Chosen is by adapting to one. The best way to adapt is to be born and raised in the area the Chosen are in. And sadly, the best time for a Digimon to adapt is if they are Fresh Level or as Digi-Eggs, and even then it would take a while for the eggs to hatch, and the Fresh Level Digimon to be ready for combat. Time in which they did not have.

"That would be true... If Leopardmon, Jesmon, and I hadn't already have the eggs be sent there," Omnimon then said, increasing their surprise.

"You've already sent some eggs?!" Apollomon asked.

"Lord Yggdrasil already had a feeling that this war may go for long, and thus had ordered us to select and send some eggs to the human world. Some with our fallen comrades' data fused into them," Leopardmon explained.

Some had excited expressions at the news.

"Oh?! So in other words, our fallen comrades will return stronger than ever?!" Marsmon asked in excitement. "That is incredible news!"

"Even if that is so, the Chosen won't know how to help, would they? Much less fight alongside us," Junomon doubted. "Even if there may be some happenings in that world because of our war..."

"Worry not. I have already made preparations," Leopardmon assured. "Piddomon."

"Yes, sir," an angel responded, gliding down to his side.

"It should be time now. At least one of them must've made contact."

"Yes, sir. I understand."

At those words, Omnimon glanced at a white, draconic-like knight, whom nodded at his superior, already understanding what he wanted. With a light wave of his hand, he summoned a portal above them. The second it appeared, Piddomon flew into it.

Many were baffled by the action. What did they just witness?

"O-Omnimon... Just now..." Magnamon trailed off.

"When we decided to send the eggs to the human world, I asked Leopardmon to select a fitting candidate amongst our force who could help the Chosen learn about our predicament, and how to fight," Omnimon began. "As for the portal, how else do you think we sent the eggs there? Amongst us, Jesmon is the only one capable of creating portals. Though..."

"If I were to send myself, it would be easy to keep it stabilize. However, when it comes to sending others, shameful as it is to admit, it is not as easy to maintain the portal if it is not used to the data of another. Nor is it easy to create a portal that leads to anywhere in the human world. Not when I've never been there myself," Jesmon explained.

"In any case, with this, the Chosen should be set," Omnimon said. "All we have to do now is hold out until they get here."

"But... what of the other humans?" Dianamon then asked. "The Chosen aside, the humans should not know anything about our world. They cannot adapt to the dangers as well as we do."

"Surely you didn't think the badges Lord Yggdrasil gave us is merely decoration, do you? Piddomon will be fine. So long as he has that bade, only the Chosen or those who already made direct contact with a Digimon can see him. Even a Fresh Level Digimon knows better than to make direct contact with humans so easily."

Back in the human world, the sun has set, and things have finally died down in Kiran's family restaurant. With things now relaxed, and most of the customers leaving the place with happy faces and full stomachs, Kiran had a bit of time to herself, as she went out for her usual late night swim in the ocean.

"I may have swam a bunch at the pool earlier, but in the end, I just can't get enough of the water," she muttered to herself, stripping her work clothes off for her swimsuit underneath.

As she approached the ocean, she gradually came to a stop, with her excited look slowly getting replaced to that of wonder, as she stared at the dark open sea.

She did not know why, but every time she wanted to go for a late night swim here, she felt something... odd about it. Almost as though she feared the water. Except that couldn't be it. She loves to swim; she was the ace of her school's swim team. If made no sense for her to be scared of the one thing she loves. Yet... she couldn't help feeling otherwise at night. It didn't help that she had been having some strange dreams lately. What of? She couldn't remember. All she could remember was that it involved water, and some kind of monster in the ocean.

A squawk reached her ears, snapping her out of her daze. Kiran turned to the source and was puzzled to see a flock of gulls gathered at a large rock in the ocean a bit away from her. From the way they were acting, it seemed as though they were attacking something.

"What the...?" Curiosity rose within her, as Kiran went into the waters, swimming straight towards the flock.

Once she was within distance, she grew baffled to see them peck and claw at a small green creature with an orange fin on its head. Its small claws were raised over its head, in an attempt to defend itself.

"Hey! You stupid birds!" she shouted, swimming faster.

As soon as she arrived, the flock finally took notice of the human and immediately flew away. Kiran paid no heed to them, though, as she had her focus on the creature they were attacking. Getting a closer look at it, it was truly unlike anything she has ever seen. The colors are like that of a frog's, yet it has a fin, claws, and she could even see sharp teeth poking out of its mouth.

"What the heck...?" she could only breathe out.

A groan was heard from the creature, and she took notice of a pained expression on its face.

"It's okay. You'll be fine," she told it, gently and carefully placing it on her head before swimming back to shore, keeping her head above water.

After managing to sneak the little creature home to her room, Kiran set it on her bed, and treated its wounds. She wasn't entirely sure if human medicine would work on it, but thankfully there weren't any serious injuries. Nothing some bandages couldn't fix.

Once she was done giving it the treatment it needed, Kiran opened up her laptop, wanting to do some research on what it was. At the very least find out what sort of food it likes, since there was no way she was going to let it go back to the wild in its injured state.

"Let's see… It's definitely not a frog, and it's not a fish either…" she muttered, browsing a site with information on sea animals, only to find nothing that even seems remotely similar to the creature. "It looks like an amphibian, though. But with a fin on its head? Can it be some new species? If it is, it will definitely help us bring in some more customers, especially during the cold season. Oh, but then again, I can imagine the government or some institution would want to take it in…" As she continued to scroll down, she stopped at a movie advertisement about a sea monster and paused, slowly turning to her little 'guest'. "… That… There's no way it's a sea monster. Right?"

Almost as soon as she wondered that, a groan was heard from it, causing her to slightly jump as she saw the creature open its eyes.

"Oh. Are you coming to?" she unconsciously asked.

The creature turned to her at the sound of her voice, eyes wide as it stared at her.

Unsure of what else to say to the little guy, Kiran simply raised a hand. "Uh, hi?"

At her greeting, the creature jumped with a shriek, surprising her, as it then hastily went under her pillow, trying to hide itself from her.

"W-Whoa… That was some scream," she muttered.

"Kiran! Is everything okay up there?!" came her mother's voice.

Kiran flinched at her call, realizing that the creature's scream caught the attention of her parents downstairs, and hastily rushed to the door. Upon opening it, she saw her mother walking up the stairs, a tray of food in hand.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I was… just watching a movie trailer. There was a scene that actually spooked me," she lied.

"Oh really? That scream was pretty loud, I thought you were in trouble with something," she said.

'More like that 'something' will get me in trouble…' Kiran thought, unsure about telling her mother about her little friend in her room.

"No. It was just from a movie scene," she said again.

Her mother didn't seem so convinced this time, as she stared at her daughter in slight suspicion. "… Okay. So long as you're okay, I guess that's fine," she relented, to Kiran's relief. "On another note, have you eaten dinner yet? Your father made you a nice, large lobster roll."

"Actually, I haven't yet," she answered taking the tray. "Thanks mom. Give my thanks to dad, too."

"Oh, but of course, honey. You just take good care of yourself. Good night."

"I will. Night."

Without another word, Kiran waved farewell to her mother, and made her way back to her room as well. Once she was back inside, Kiran let out a relieved sigh, and glanced at her pillow, where the creature was still hiding in, if the shaking was of any indication.

"It's safe to come out if you want to," she said, only to be ignored by the little fella.

Kiran was at a loss, wondering how she was going to let the little thing warm up to her. Her eyes trailed down to her roll, and an idea popped into her head.

"Are you feeling hungry?" she asked, taking a piece of lobster from her meal and held it out to the hidden creature. "You like shellfish, right?"

A snout popped out from under the pillow, sniffing at the lobster meat in her hand. The face poked out further, as the creature stared at the lobster meat. Seeing how focused it was on it, Kiran slowly inched closer, being careful as it continued to stare at her hand, as though watching her every movement. Once she was close enough, it leaned closer to her hand and ate the lobster. As it ate, a bright smile slowly formed on its face, causing Ellie to feel relieved.

"You like it? That's great to know," she said, proceeding to take some more lobster meats out of her sandwich. "I guess I can give you a few more pieces. Good thing my dad goes light on the seasoning for me at night."

"It's good! Delicious!"

"Yeah, of course it-" Kiran stopped herself when she realized the voice that just spoke. It that did not sound anything like herself or her parents, or even her phone.

She slowly turned to the source, where she saw the creature looking up at her with a bright expecting gaze.

"Are those for me, too?" it- she- asked.

"GAH!" Kiran jumped when she saw the creature speak again, dropping the lobster pieces on the floor as she tumbled down, staring at it in shock.

Rather than be worried about her, though, the talking creature got more worried about the lobster meat. "Ah! The shellfish!" She jumped down from the bed and approached one. "Don't waste them! Birds will get them!" She hastily shoved the dropped meat into her mouth and blissfully ate them. "Mmm~ So good~ Best I ever had~! Hm?" The creature took notice of the trembling human pointing at her. "What's wrong?"

"Y-You… You're talking…" Kiran stammered out, confusing the little creature.

"Kiran? Is everything okay in there?" they faintly heard her mother's voice, as well as fast footsteps.

Kiran panicked, knowing that she couldn't stop her mom from coming in this time, and hastily shoved the creature under her bed.

"Whoa! Huh?" The creature tried to crawl out of the bed, only to be stopped by Kiran, who shushed at her to be silent.

The door was slammed open, and Kiran's mom entered. The worried expression on her face immediately got replaced by a confused one as she stared down at her daughter, strangely sprawled on the ground. "… Do I want to know the story behind this?"

"I uh… Just thought of doing some stretches before I eat. Was doing this one stretch a friend of mind told me about and… I must've done it wrong, for I seemed to have pulled something," Kiran lied.

"A stretch gone wrong? From you who knows better to stretch before going for a swim?" her mom questioned.

"Well… I did go for my usual late-night swim earlier... I guess I didn't dry myself off well enough or something."

Her mom did not seem to believe her, as she stared at her in great suspicion. Kiran tried to not let it get to her, as she kept her eyes on her mother, and prayed the talking creature was staying hidden under her bed.

"Hmm… Okay then… I'm starting to think you should take a little break from swimming. Especially your late night swims in the ocean. Your father and I've been lenient enough about it before, but if you keep showing strange behavior, I may forbid you from doing it any longer."

"Maybe after my upcoming meet. I promise to try to take things easy after that," Kiran said.

A stomach growl was then heard, causing the teen to flinch, while her mom looked down at her in wonder.

"I should… also get to eating that dinner."

A soft, amused smile then formed on the woman's face. "It would be bad if a certain someone goes hungry in addition to letting food go to waste. I'll go back down to help your dad clean the restaurant. Don't stay up too late, okay?"

"Got it, mom."

With that, the woman left again. After waiting for a bit, Kiran slowly got back up with a sigh. "Whew… You can come out now."

The creature slowly crawled back out. "No more hide-and-seek?"

"Only if she comes back again," Kiran answered with a small grin.

A stomach growl was heard again, as the creature wrapped its claws around its stomach. "Mmm… Hungry…"

"Yeah, I guess you would be, huh…" Kiran looked up at the lobster roll on her desk. "Hmm… You don't have any… I don't know… allergic reactions to anything, do you?"

"'Allergic'?"

"Is there anything you shouldn't eat or even touch?"

The creature had a thoughtful expression on its face. "Hmm… I don't think so…"

Deciding to accept the response, Kiran broke the roll in half and offered one to it. "Here. You can have half."

The creature's eyes widened at those words, drool trailing from the corner of her mouth. "Can I?!"

"Sure. I don't feel that hungry. Go ahead." As soon as Kiran set the lobster roll down, the creature happily ate away at it. "You sure like that lobster roll."

"It's delicious~ The best~!" the creature exclaimed as she ate.

"What even are you, anyway? Some kind of frog or a sea monster?"

"I'm not a Seamon. I'm Betamon."

"Betamon?"

Soon enough, the creature finished the lobster roll, licking its lips and claws in glee. "Thank you for the food!"

An amused smile formed on Kiran's face at Betamon's action. "You sure know your manners for something that's not human. Not that I've ever seen anything like you before."

"First for me, too! Talking to human!"

As Kiran took a bite of her half of the roll, Betamon's stomach growled again, prompting the creature to sadly hold her stomach once more.

"You're still hungry?"

"Barely ate for days… Stupid birds…"

Kiran thought back to when she found Betamon, recalling seeing some empty shells on the rock, as well as bits of shellfish meat.

'I thought she ate those…' she thought, before setting down the rest of her roll.

"Here. You can have the rest."

Betamon seemed happy for a moment, before holding herself back and turned away from it. "I-It's fine! I'm full!" Despite her claim, her stomach let out another growl, in which she once again held her tummy in embarrassment and clear hunger.

Kiran held back a laugh from this action, finding it a bit funny, if she could be honest. "You say that, but I'm not feeling that hungry myself. And it'd be a terrible waste of food if I just throw this out."

Slowly, Betamon turned back around, eyeing the lobster roll in Kiran's hand. Soon enough, she took the sandwich and happily ate it up, too.

"So your name is Betamon?" Kiran asked, getting her attention.

"'Name'?" she repeated in question.

"What you're… referred as. What others call you."

Betamon looked on in wonder, clearly unsure of the answer herself. "Hmm… I don't know. I just know I'm called Betamon," she said.

Kiran was unsure how to take that response, as she watched the little creature finish the other half of the lobster roll with a satisfied expression on her face. "You just know it?"

"Yeah!"

"Huh… Oh, I'm Kiran. Nice to meet you, Betamon."

"Nice to meet you!" As Betamon once again licked her lips and claws, yet again, her stomach let out another growl, to Kiran's bafflement.

"You're still feeling hungry? You sure got one big appetite for a little fella."

"Not enough… Need more…" Betamon groaned.

Kiran was troubled by this. On one hand, she could go down to get something for the little fella, but with her parents there, they will definitely question her presence. And it wasn't as though she could tell them she was the one feeling hungry.

"Okay then." She got up and grabbed her swim bag. "Hmm… Looks like there's enough room in here. If I get rid of most of the things in here, that is."

Betamon looked at her in pure confusion, watching her take her swim gear out of the bag. "Room for what?"

"For you, of course. I'm taking you to a place where you can eat to your heart's content."

Betamon's eyes instantly sparkled at the promise. "Really?!"

"Yeah, really. But first, you need to get in here and be very quiet, okay?"

"Okay!" In that instant, Betamon leapt into the bag. As soon as she was in, Kiran placed her towel over her head, covering her body as best as she could, especially with the fin in the way. "Wah! What's this?"

"A towel. Keep that over your head just in case," Kiran instructed. "And remember, keep quiet."

Betamon covered her mouth shut with her claws and nodded in understanding.

"Okay. Now let's go." Zippering the bag mostly closed, Kiran picked the bag up over her shoulder and snuck out through the balcony.

Meanwhile, in the sky above, a portal opened up, and Piddomon flew on through. As soon as he exited out, the portal closed. He did not mind it, though; he has a mission that was entrusted to him. And he will see it through.

"So this is the human world…" he muttered, looking down at the city below with a peaceful smile on his face. "It truly is peaceful here. It would be bad if the demons chose to attack this world. Especially if the Chosen and their partners are not yet ready for battle. Then again, that is why I am here. Not just to teach them how to fight, but also to protect them until they're ready." He shook his head, getting him mind back to his mission. "In any case, I need to hurry and find them. According to Omnimon, one pair should already have made contact. I need to find- Hm?!" He stopped himself when he felt something nearby. Something ominous that should not be here. "This… This feeling… It can't be!"

A dreadful feeling filled him, as he hastily flew towards the source.

Back with Kiran and Betamon, after making a quick stop at a fish market nearby, the girl took them to an abandoned lighthouse not too far from her home. As soon as they arrived there, Kiran took out some cooking equipment hidden in the place. Nothing extravagant; just a small coal stove, which was currently being used to grill some shrimp, clams, and oysters. The latter two in which she has got opened, while the former she peeled the head and shell off of.

"Kira, done yet?" Betamon asked, stating at and drooling for the meal before her.

"Not quite yet," Kiran answered, fanning at the flames.

"Even though it smells this good?"

"Just because it smells good doesn't mean it's ready. Just hold out for a little longer."

Betamon gulped at that, unsure what to think after hearing that. The smell was already stimulating her appetite all over again! And though she did snack on some of these raw earlier, as she watched Kiran cook up her own portion, curiosity got the better of her, and she ended up getting enticed by the food being made.

Of course, the human took notice of it, and offered to cook the rest of her portion. And like with the lobster roll, Betamon tried to turn down her offer. One sight of a bit of saliva trailing out of her mouth, though, and Kiran managed to convince her otherwise.

"Alright. Looks like they're done," Kiran announced, putting some of the cooked shellfish on a paper plate and set it before her friend. "It's hot. Careful now."

Just as she gave that warning, Betamon hastily took an oyster in her claws and dumped the meat into her mouth, only to later regret it from the heat. She jumped, huffing and puffing in an attempt to cool the food in her mouth.

"Whoa! I just warned you!" Kiran exclaimed, bringing a bottled water she bought to Betamon's mouth. The sea creature slowly drank the cold content, relieving her mouth of the hot sensation.

"Whew. That surprised me…" she sighed.

"I did tell you it was hot," Kiran pointed out.

"Yeah. But it's also good! This water, too! Different but good!"

Kiran couldn't help but be more amused by Betamon's actions. If it wasn't clear this little guy was a creature from the sea, it was now. "I can guess and say there are a lot of things on land you've never seen from the ocean. Aside from the gulls."

One mention of the birds, and Betamon instantly became enraged. "Birds! Hate! Thieves!"

"Yes, yes. Come on, your food's gonna get cold. You don't want to put those to waste, do you?"

At that question, Betamon went back to eating, her anger turned back to bliss the moment she began stuffing her mouth. Once she went back to eating, Kiran followed suite, as she ate her portion of the meal.

At some point in their feast, Betamon suddenly stopped and looked up at the window with a glare. Something that did not go unnoticed by Kiran.

"Hm? What's wrong?" she asked.

"Look out!" Instead of an answer, Betamon shouted those words out and tackled her down, just in time for the windows to break, as what seemed to be glowing bullets rained down around them.

Kiran was shocked by this sudden attack. Even more so when she saw that the 'bullets' were actually feathers on fire, with the flames being white.

Sound of wings flapping reached her ears, followed by a voice. "So you managed to sense me out, did you? Then again, I suppose that is to be expected from one like you."

Kiran looked up and was left speechless to see what seemed to be a person entering from the window. More than that, this person has a pair of wings on his back! And with his attire, he seemed much like…

"An angel?!"

Piddomon looked down at the human before glancing back at Betamon, who was growling at him. "Even have a human hostage, don't you? Your form may be different, but you truly are a demon thru and thru," he claimed.

Kiran was baffled by the claim. "Hostage? Demon?"

Betamon, on the other hand, paid no heed to his words. If anything, she was more fixated by his appearance. "Human bird! Hate!"

Kiran became baffled by what the sea creature called the angel, while Piddomon was irked by the call.

"And no manner, as to be expected," he muttered. "No matter. I, Piddomon, will just deal with you now before you become a threat. But first… Pid Speed!"

Next thing Kiran knew, the angel rushed towards her in a burst of speed and grabbed her, swept her off her feet and took her right out the lighthouse.

"Whoa! What the-?!" Next she knew, she was suddenly placed on the rooftop of the small building right next to the lighthouse.

"Fear not, human civilian. You will be safe up here," Piddomon told her, confusing her with his claim.

"'Safe'? Safe from what? What are you going to do to Betamon?!"

Instead of answering, Piddomon raised his rod and angled it, just in time to block a bolt of lightning from hitting him.

"Give Kira back!" Kiran looked down and grew even more baffled to see Betamon getting electric sparks all over her body.

"That thing down there is nothing more than a monster. A member of the Demon Army from my home world, Digital World," Piddomon began to explain.

"The what?" Kiran could only ask.

"The Demon Army… An army of crude and ruthless Digimon known, whose end goal is to destroy my home! And in turn, yours as well."

Kiran could only stare at Piddomon with a baffled expression. Betamon? Here to what?! No, that couldn't be right!

"Hang on a second! There has to be a mistake!" she exclaimed.

"This may be hard for a human like you to understand, but you must understand. That 'thing' is no friend. It may be small and seem harmless, but it is a true monster deep down. And I assure you, you will have nothing to fear for. For this fight… is already over! Pid Speed!" Before Kiran knew it, Piddomon shot forward again. This time to Betamon, and knocked her away several feet with his rod.

"Gah!"

"Betamon!" Kiran cried in worry.

Piddomon simply stood where Betamon was, eyes on the small creature. To his slight surprise, rather than staying down, Betamon slowly rose back up.

"Why you…! Electric Shock!" Another bolt of electricity was discharged from her body, making is way towards Piddomon.

The angel calmly jabbed his weapon into the ground before him, completely blocking the attack again. "Persistent, aren't we? Then again, that is also to be expected. Fire Feather!" Flapping his wings, he shot out feathers at Betamon, which some busted into white flames.

Betamon thought fast as she tumbled and rolled about, avoiding as much of the feathers as she could. After managing to dodge every last feather, she looked back up at Piddomon with a glare, only to find him gone from his spot.

"Pid Speed!" Next she knew, she got struck more from his attack, and was sent flying into the lighthouse. The attack didn't stop there, as the angel continued his assault on her.

Kiran could only stand there, speechless with what she was seeing. Forget the fact that she was seeing a real angel, the angel was trying to kill Betamon! Yes, she heard him say that Betamon was some demon, but from her short time with her, she was anything but. If anything, she was a child who loves shellfish! The only time she seemed to be angry was when it came to seagulls, and even then it was just petty anger, like a kid holding a grudge. And looking at the scene now? She may as well be watching a grown adult bully a kid! Worse, abuse one!

'And he's supposed to be an angel?!' Kiran questioned, hand gripping on the rails very tightly. 'Angel or not, doing that sort of thing…!'

"Knock it off!" Without thinking, she jumped right off the rooftop, and landed right back down on the grass, rushing straight for Betamon.

Betamon got knocked down to the ground one more, this time got far too weakened to even struggle to rise back up, as Piddomon stood over her.

"I have to say… I'm actually a bit disappointed. Seems to me you're nothing but a wannabe member. One who has some promise for them. It's a shame you don't know your limit before trespassing. For you, that is. Now, begone!" As Piddomon swung his rod down to end the small 'demon', Kiran suddenly got in his way, and took the full force of his strike… right in the head. The angel was extremely shocked upon witnessing the action, as the human lied on top of Betamon, her head bleeding. "Human! What were you thinking?!" Piddomon questioned.

Weakly, Kiran pushed herself back up. "I'm thinking… I thought angels were supposed to be kind and gentle folks… some messengers of god or a guardian of sort…" she spoke. "But what you did…? What sort of angel brutally attacks a small innocent creature…?"

Piddomon was taken aback by the question asked, as well as the glare that came with it. "'Innocent'? Small it may be, it is far from innocent. As I had warned you before, that monster-"

"-has a name!" Kiran shouted, head feeling a bit dizzy. "More than that, she has feelings. Joy as she was eating the cooked shellfish, anger towards the birds that took her food, sadness from hunger… She even wanted to hold back from eating my portion, and expressed gratitude when I shared with her. If you call those being a monster, then you're no angel!"

Rather than feel any guilt for what was said, Piddomon grew disappointed by them, as he let out a sigh. "Here I was, hoping the demon did not get a hold on you… I suppose that was wishful thinking." As soon as he said that, Kiran felt something hit her side, and got knocked away to the edge of the cliff, managing to keep her hold on Betamon.

"Gah!"

Betamon awoke to her pained cry, and immediately grew worried when she saw the state Kiran was in. "Kira!"

"Do forgive me, child. And understand that you brought this upon yourself." Grimacing in pain, Kiran looked up and went wide eyes to see Piddomon stand over her, his rod raised again. Before he could bring it down, Betamon wiggled out of Kiran's arms and leapt up, now biting Piddomon's arm.

"Betamon! Don't!" Kiran struggled to say.

Piddomon was more annoyed by this than he was pained, as he easily shook the weakened creature of him. "You will be dealt with later." He turned to Kiran once more. "If there is rebirth for you humans as there is for us Digimon, I pray you be reborn untainted." He swung his rod upwards, striking Kiran in the face and knocked her off the cliff to the sea below.

Piddomon sighed at the action he had to take on the human. Deep down, he couldn't believe what he did to a resident of this frail world. What he did goes against what he was taught back in the Digital World. Sadly, with the state the war has become, he couldn't take any chances that the Demon Army will start recruiting humans into their cause as he and his leaders are doing. Leopardmon didn't just assign him to be a mere instructor, after all.

"Now then, as for-" Before he could finish his sentence, as he turned to Betamon, the small creature dashed past him and jumped into the water.

"KIRA!" she cried out, hitting the waters.

Piddomon was shocked at this development. A demon Digimon… risking its life for a human child?

In the ocean waters, Betamon swam as fast as she could to Kiran, who got knocked out from the last strike, and was sinking deeper in.

'Kira saved me. Now, I save her!' As she thought that, her body started to glow, as did Kiran's.

As the pair made contact with one another, the glow got brighter, engulfing Betamon within, with something emerging out of Kiran.

DIGIVOLUTION

"Betamon Digivolve to!"

Betamon's body grew bigger, her limbs became longer, and her body was getting covered in what seemed to be armor. Her orange fin turned white, and her tail was now a white tail fin. Whatever skin was not covered by the armor turned pink, and her claws poked out of her gauntlets.

"Coelamon!"

As soon as the Digivolution ended, Coelamon emerged out of the water with a leap, Kiran on her back. Once she was back on the cliff by the lighthouse, she carefully slid the human off her. "Kira! Kira!"

Kiran faintly heard someone call her name and weakly opened her eyes. Her mind was still dazed in pain, as blood still leaked out of her head injuries, and the voice was far from familiar, but from what she could make out from the shadow figure, as well as the name directed to her, she had a small inkling she knew who this was. "Beta...mon?"

"Coelamon now, Kira!" Coelamon corrected, slightly relieved to see her friend okay.

Kiran could barely register what was said, for her head felt light, and her body was in too much pain, and she went unconscious once more, much to Coelamon's worries.

"Kira? Kira! Hey!"

Meanwhile, Piddomon was just speechless by what he was seeing. This member of the Demon Army... Digivolved?! For a human?! As he then took a look at the human, wondering what it was about her that caused this particular enemy Digimon to become stronger, he was taken aback by the sight of a small object in her hand. One that he could not believe was in her possession.

'Is that... a Digivice?!' he thought. 'No, that can't be possible! Only the Chosen are in possession of those. The Digivice supposedly comes from the very Chosen humans themselves!' Another thought then crossed his mind, as he looked over to the worried Coelamon, who then looked back at Piddomon in rage. 'If that Digimon is one of the eggs that was sent here... I need to hurry and report to Lord Omnimon at once!'

"Water Bullet!" Before he could fly off, Coelamon shot out bullets of water at him, prompting Piddomon to protect himself with his Holy Rod. "You hurt Kira! Human Bird pays!"

"I'm afraid I don't have time for you," Piddomon said, attempting to fly away.

"No escaping! Variable Darts!" Coelamon swung a claw down, firing energy blades at Piddomon, who managed to avoid it with Pid Speed.

'Damn it. At any rate, I need to stop that Digimon first!' he then decided, making way towards Coelamon, and flying around him at high speed. 'Digivolved or not, it can't follow me if I keep using Pid Speed. I'll end this quick!' As he attempted to swing his rod down at Coelamon's blind spot, however, the recently Digivolved Digimon turned and caught the weapon in her mouth, much to his surprise.

"Fast birds... Faced them!" she exclaimed, raising her claws again. "Variable Darts!" She swung them down once more, unleashing another wave of energy blades at Piddomon that tore into his body.

'That's... not possible...' he thought, feeling his consciousness slipping away. 'A member of the Demon Army... Getting this strong in an instant...? If that is so... Then what of the other eggs...? How many more...? Lord... Omnimon...' At that, his whole body dispersed into data, leaving behind his badge, which absorbed some of the dispersed data and changed shape.

Coelamon didn't care about that, as she let out a huff in victory and shrunk back to being Betamon. As soon as she changed back, she hastily rushed to the unconscious Kiran's side.

"Kira! Kira! Wake up, Kira! Kira!" she cried out, shaking the human and tapping her shoulder in desperation. Sadly, she was getting no response from Kiran at all, which only served to worry her even more, as she continued to try to wake the human up.

Unknown to her, not too far from them, a humanoid figure stood hidden in the shadows of the trees, having seen everything from start to finish.
