Hello all.

To those who follow my GOT fic, I promise I'm still writing it, it's just my muse woke up from its coma and the bloody bastard wouldn't let me write a word of GOT until I got this one started at least. I tried, I honestly did but have you ever tried to write a medieval type fic when your muse insists on a sci-fi futuristic fic? The results are both frustrating and hilarious.

Anyway, onto the story.

Jedi High Council Chambers - Coruscant

"The boy will not be trained!" Master Windu said as he glared at Qui-Gon Jinn who adamantly glared right back and the Master of the Order.

Master Yaddle sighed quietly as she watched the drama that played out in front of her. Mace Windu was a fine Jedi and an extremely competent Council member but he was one of the most stubborn people she had ever met in her long life. The small green Master knew that this time his stubbornness was based purely on his need to protect the Jedi Order but still, young Anakin didn't deserve the blatant suspicion and hostility that was being aim at him for circumstances that were entirely out of his control.

"Then I take Anakin as my Padawan Learner."

And once again, Yaddle sighed, only this time in exasperation.

Qui-Gon was doing himself and the two young boys no favours.

She could almost see the hurt that oozed off Padawan Kenobi before he controlled his feelings and attempted to release them into the Force.

"A Padawan you already have. A second you cannot take." Grandmaster Yoda protested. "Against the Code it is!"

"Obi-Wan is ready for the Trials. He is headstrong and needs to be more mindful of the Living Force but there is little more he can learn from me." Qui-Gon told the council dismissively.

Master Yaddle shook her head as once again, feelings of hurt/rejection/disbelief/jealously bled into the Force despite the brash and brave act Obi-Wan was putting on in front of the council. She couldn't understand why the rest of the council hadn't felt it.

Mace and Yoda glanced at each other. While they were both fond of Qui-Gon Jinn, his unorthodox behaviour often drove them insane but in this case, they were both confused and concerned with Qui-Gon's single minded drive to get young Anakin trained to the exclusion of all else.

They were fully aware of the boy's massive potential within the Force. They could see the Force wasn't just strong with the boy but it was an essential part of his very being. This alone was enough to convince them that he was the strongest force wielder they'd ever heard of but due to the clouded nature of his future, they were reluctant to name him as The Chosen one.

"It is the council that determines who is ready for the Trials Qui-Gon Jinn, not you!" Master Mundi snapped the maverick Jedi Master.

"Enough! Hear no more of this we will. Discuss young Skywalker's fate another time we shall. Other problems we have. A mission for you we have. The young Queen, return home to Naboo she shall. Assign you and your Padawan to her protection, this Council does." Yoda intervened before another argument could start.

"The Queen intends to fight the Trade Federation's invasion of her world. The Senate has elected to do nothing to help her so she will find other means. Your assignment is for protection only. You are not to get involved in any fight between the Naboo and the Federation outside the parameters of your mission, understood?" Mace informed them of their mission.

Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan bowed their acceptance of the Council's ordered.

"And what of Anakin?" Qui-Gon asked them. "His mother left him in my care; he has nowhere else to go and no one to care for him."

"You may take him with you but he is not to receive any training in the ways of the Force until such time as we can properly determine his future." Mace reluctantly conceded.

Qui-Gon nodded.

"Then we shall leave with your permission and prepare for the mission. May the Force be with you. Come Anakin." And with a final bow, deftly turned and guided the young boy out of the chamber with his emotionally hurting Padawan following behind him.

And with his departure, all the tension left with him.

"That could have gone better but given Qui-Gon's temperament, I'm just glad it wasn't worse." Master Yarael Poof commented to the room at large.

"He was unusually stubborn today but I supposed that's understandable given what he believes about the boy and while I agree that he is too old to be trained, unfortunately I can't disagree with Master Jinn's belief that it was the will of the Force that he found the boy. Something is at work here, but what it is, I do not know." Oppo Rancisis mused as he thought over the meeting that had just taken place.

"Speculation will not get us anywhere. We just have to see how the Naboo situation plays out and trust the Force to guide us through but perhaps we should consider sending more than just Jinn and Kenobi. If it is a Sith we are dealing with, they may not be up to the challenge. It's been a thousand years since one has risen from the shadows we have no idea of what they would be capable of today." Kit Fisto who was widely respected as one of the best swordsmen of the Order commented.

"Hmm, clouded the future is, impossible to see clearly. A Darksider this foe is? Yes, a Sith? Uncertain I am and if a Sith he is, this which one is he? Master or apprentice? For only two there are. No more, no less." Yoda said.

Master Yaddle however had paid little attention to the rest of the room since Qui-Gon had left. There was something…she wasn't sure if it was the Force trying to tell her something or her own intuition but something about the trio who had left was bugging her for a lack of explanation.

"Master Yaddle? Quiet you have been. Something bothering you it is, yes? Confide in your brother hmm?" Yoda's unique speech patterns broke her out of her introspection. Yaddle looked up to see that the Council chamber was empty of everyone but her and Jedi brother.

She sighed.

"Yes there is something bothering me, your infernal speech impediment!" She growled at him good naturedly at him knowing full well that he wouldn't take offence as they had been teasing each other like this for centuries.

"Mock me you do?! Next time, so nicely I won't ask!" Yoda chuckled as Yaddle joined in.

"For truth now, what bothers you sister? Quiet you normally are but not paying attention, rare for that to happen it is. Something about the boy perhaps?" he asked her.

Yaddle regarded the old Grandmaster as she gathered her thoughts. They had been through much together over their many centuries of life and the bond between them was deep. They had often sought the other's opinion when they needed clarity on some problem that was vexing them.

"Hmm, yes and no. Young Anakin, he is a powerhouse in the Force, bright, blinding and has the potential to burn everything down if not properly controlled. He needs training Yoda, if only for his own safety and the safety of others. Even you cannot deny that. Even if you and the rest of the council wishes to adhere to protocol and rules instead of doing the right thing, however, something is…missing or not…complete? I'm not sure what it is that I sensed but I agree with Oppo, the Force has something in play here. I'm missing something, just what that something is, I'm currently at a loss to explain."

Yoda's forehead creased in thought as he and Yaddle both slipped into a light meditation trance. He reached into the Unifying force to see what it would tell him. His connection with Unifying force was exceptionally strong while Yaddle had an exceptionally strong connecting to the Living force. Together, they usually managed to obtain a clearer picture of what the Force was trying to tell them.

"Clouded the Unifying force is, unable to see what will happen I am. The events on Naboo, created by a hidden hand they were. A shatter point it is. What happens next, determine the future direction of the galaxy it will. Sure of that much I am." Yoda said, trying in vain to pierce the darkness that had fallen over the Force.

Yaddle closed her eyes and reached out into the Force. She wasn't looking for anything in particular, just seeing what the Force chose to show her. She frowned as the Force directed her attention at not only young Skywalker but also Padawan Kenobi. The Force swirled around the pair unlike anything she had ever seen before.

Yaddle grunted.

"Perhaps. I know not what the future hold, but the present shows darkness, darkness, pain, heartbreak and loss." She opened her eyes and looked at Yoda.

"One of them will not return to us. A painful but necessary loss I sense."

"Hmm, then warn them we must."

"No, we cannot. The shock, the loss, the pain, it is necessary, it will challenge them; make them strive to become better. Bind them together in a way that will not be easily broken. This is the will of the Force and we must respect that brother."

"Hmm, dark emotions you describe. A path to the Dark side they are. Worried I am, all three, emotional beings they are, attachments to each other, they have, even if new some of those attachments are. The loss of one, effect those left it will, unpredictable the results will be. Know who we will lose you do?"

"No, that future is still in motion."

"Then trust in the Force we must."
