A/N: I think I'll make a sequel... What should the name of it be? Something simple, like 'Quarter Quell'? Or something inspiring?
Chapter 17:
Nikki walked up the steps and knocked on Peeta's door. She waited for him to open the door, and then she said, "Hey. May I come in?"
"Yeah, sure." Peeta stepped out of the way and let her in. "How are you?"
"I'm okay." Nikki stood in his entryway. "Can we sit in your living room?"
"Of course!" Peeta shut the door and led the way to the living room. They sat down. "What's up?"
Nikki took a deep breath. "My mom brought up the fact that our engagement was four months ago, and that we should probably have our wedding soon if we don't want people to think our relationship is fake." She looked up at him. "I'm sorry."
Peeta looked at her in shock. "What do you have to be sorry for? I mean, I'd like to have planned this normally, but I don't mind it happening sooner."
Nikki nodded, thoughtfully. "Would you hate it if we kept our marriage hidden until the Quarter Quell starts?"
"Tell me why, first," he answered.
"I don't want it to be an overly exposed and talked about affair," Nikki said.
"Oh," Peeta said, nodding. "Yes, it would turn out that way." He smiled at his fiancé. "I won't hate keeping our marriage secret for a bit. It just means that I get to keep you all to myself."
Nikki blushed. "Okay." She leaned over and kissed him. "I love you so much. I want to tell the world that we are getting married, but I know that if I did, we would never have rest."
"I know, Nikki. I wish I could too. Instead, what do you want for our wedding?"
Nikki scrunched up her nose. "Something small? Your dad and brothers, my family, Haymitch, and the Mayor? We'll have to tell everyone to keep it quiet, and tell the Mayor to hide the paperwork until the Quarter Quell starts."
Peeta nodded. "That sounds perfect to me. Not a huge wedding with the whole district. Not everyone would keep it quiet then, and I don't like big weddings."
"Me neither." Nikki snuggled into his side. "Now the only question is when. Mom has had my dress ready for months, surprisingly." She laughed slightly.
"Wow," Peeta said, shocked.
"She's been excited."
He chuckled. "How about tomorrow, and we don't keep anyone waiting? I know I'd love to spend more time with you, just like this." Peeta gently squeezed her, trying not to hurt her.
Nikki giggled. "I think mom might not be happy about the guest list, but she'll understand... and tomorrow will mean that she gains a son that much quicker." She kissed him on the lips. "Mrs. Nikki Mellark," she said, thinking about it.
"I could change my name," Peeta told her. "Or we could name our second son a 'Swift' to carry on your dad's name." He shrugged at her look of shock. "It doesn't matter to me. Whatever makes you happy."
"Already thinking of children?" She asked, one eyebrow raised.
Now Peeta was blushing. "I just-"
Nikki giggled. "How many children do you want?"
He smiled. "At least two, but as many as you want."
"I want as many as I can safely have. I want a big family."
"Then that's what we'll have." Peeta held her for a while before he said, "We should probably tell the people we want here tomorrow, before tomorrow comes and they have other plans."
"Ugh!" Nikki groaned. "You're right... but I was comfortable." She pouted.
Peeta kissed her pout away and smiled when her face brightened. "Come, love."
"Okay," she said. They got up from the couch and left his house.
A/N: Only a few chapters left, I think. One? Two? IDK. :) See you next time!
