Authors Note: I know Fabian and Gideon were probably Gryffindors during their time at Hogwarts. But again, similar to Alice - I have changed it and moved them to Hufflepuff for the story. Seeing as not many Hufflepuff's are known during the Marauders Era.

But with that said, thanks again! For everyone liking this story. Even if it's not the best written one out there. (I'm still learning!)

Relationships:

Severus/Remus, Lily/James, Sirus/OC

Relationships between Severus and Remus won't come until way later. Because Severus is still 30 mentally. And I find it odd he'd try to get in a relationship with a twelve year old boy.

"Slughorn... ugh." Alice groaned.

Severus eyed the girl, before shaking his head. The two of them walking side by side out of the potions classroom. Severus stuck with listening to her complain about how unfair Slughorn was. And how much she'll dread going to his class all year and the years after.

"Get used to him, I've.. uhm- heard rumors that he shows major favoritism." Severus supplied, tripping over his words just slight.

'He was also a terrible head too. Merlin did he love those bloody Gryffindors more than his own slytherins.' Severus thought bitterly.

'Never cared if I was bullied. Never said nor gave out any punishments. Even in his own classroom. All because he thought Potter and Black would do wonders in the future.' Severus scowled, trying his best to calm his rising anger.

"Severus..? Sev!" Alice snapped her fingers in front of his face. Both of her brows raised in question.

"What?" He asked, voice falling to a whisper.

Alice let her hands fall back down to her sides, before shaking her head and bumping her hip with his own. Which seemed to only deepen the old slytherins scowl more.

"You're were lost in thought. Then suddenly it was like something changed. You okay?" Alice questioned softly. As if she were talking to someone ready to blow at the minor inconvenience.

"I'm fine, Alice." Severus answered sharply, eyes drifting away from her.

The girl hummed thoughtfully. "If you say so."

Severus found out quickly that he quite liked his new schedule. Compared to his one during his time as a first-year slytherin.

For example, Hufflepuff's rarely had classes with Gryffindors. Which meant Severus could easily avoid Lily and the Marauders.

Of course, that didn't stop Lily from calling out his name. Or trying to get his attention in the halls between passings. Severus would merely grab Alice's arm and drag her away from the red-haired girl until her voice was no longer in range.

That- though, had received some questions from his new... friend.

"Do you not like her, or something? I thought you said you guys lived in the same neighborhood?" Alice asked, poking his side as they shuffled around a trio of Ravenclaws.

"I..." Severus trailed off, unable to come up with a believable lie.

"Do you... like-like her then? Too embarrassed to talk to her?" Alice wiggled her eyebrows.

Unable to stop the flush that appeared on his cheeks, Severus shook his head frantically. Glaring at Alice for the mere suggestion. Yet the look on her face showed she did not believe him.

"I don't like her. It's not her- look... it's the people she's around." Severus grits out, trying his best to explain without causing more confusion or unnecessary questions.

"Oh. Wait, the girls or the group of boys that basically follow her around like lost puppies?" Alice asks, tilting her head.

Severus snorts at the analogy. "The group of boys. They... remind me of these- kids in my neighborhood. Would mock and make fun of me for my appearance or personality." Severus twists his words, forming a believable story.

Alice's face falls slightly, a frown on her lips as she stares down at Severus. "That shouldn't stop you from seeing her though, right?" She shurgged.

Severus scowled, shaking his head. "I don't want their attention on me. And it will be, if I start talking to her like I used to." He says.

Alice merely rolls her eyes, grabbing Severus's arm abruptly. Causing them to stop in the middle of the hallway. Which thankfully- wasn't too busy.

"That's really why you aren't speaking to her?" She asks.

'No, I really just don't want to look into the eyes of my dead friend' Is what Severus thinks the moment the words leave Alice's mouth.

But he controls himself, taking in a much needed breath. "You... wouldn't understand." He murmurs. Quite pathetically, might he add.

If Severus were still in his late thirties, he'd be appalled at his own behavior. It almost felt like he was being consoled yet lectured by one of his own students.

"Look, I'll drop it. You seem uncomfortable and that's not what I was going for." Alice started, letting go of his arm.

"Let's go to dinner, yeah?" Alice looped her arm with his, despite the clear protest from Severus. Who glared at their connected arms like they were some curse.

"Oh! And you must introduce me to your roommates. Fabian and Gideon right? I met them this morning... hilarious people-" Alice began, grinning.

Severus sighed, resigning to his fate.
