It's My Life

It had been a truly amazing and unforgettable night for Harry and Draco. What started off as an innocent game night to cure boredom turned into snogging, then a conversation where Harry and Draco started dating, which moved into full blown sex. Their evening ended by cuddling up and falling asleep naked together. Now, it was morning and they'd surely have to face the music of last night when they got caught snogging the hell out of each other. Well, the game had been do whatever in a closet for seven minutes, but most people just talked or made out. No one had been seen in the act of making out and held against a wall, nor stopping when the door was opened.

Regardless, what was more unnerving was that their head of house, Harry's guardian and Draco's godfather, Severus, had arrived to announce it was after curfew and everyone needed to go to bed. The man had seen the state Harry and Draco were in and Harry was certain he had heard the potions teacher say something about Minerva and Pamona owing him money. Harry had been curious last night, but already set to spend his evening with Draco. Thankfully, today was Saturday, so they didn't have to rush to do anything like get up, get showered and dressed, or hurry to get to the hall for breakfast. It was a Hogsmead day, though and what better way to announce their relationship than go on an actual date in sight of everyone.

Draco was awake first and had turned himself into Harry's arms, snuggling up close as Harry tightened his grip and eventually opened his eyes to see Draco moving in closer and giving him a light kiss on the lips.

"Well, good morning," Harry greeted.

"Sorry if I woke you," Draco blushed a little.

"It's fine," The green eyed male yawned. "How'd you sleep?"

"Great. You?" Draco asked lightly.

"One of the best sleeps I've had in years," Harry admitted. "Feel alright, not too sore or anything?"

"Little sore, but not painful." Draco informed.

"A bath should take that away," Harry suggested. "We should get up and get ready for the day. Our friends will be worried if we don't come out and potentially go get Severus. I don't think we need to get caught like this."

"Definitely not." Draco agreed. "But I'm just so comfortable."

"Me too, but come on…There will be other times we can laze about in bed together." Harry smiled. "And obviously we won't always be able to share a bed. If no one knows what we did last night, we'd make it rather obvious by always sleeping together."

"You want to hide things?" Draco wondered.

"Not our relationship, no, but us sharing a bed after sex isn't anyone's business but ours. I'm certain it's against the rules for students to be having any intimate relationships. While I know neither of us can get pregnant, I'm sure the rule applies to gay couples too, be they women or men." Harry stated.

"Probably right about that, but we can share the bed sometimes, right? Even if we don't have sex?" Draco questioned.

"I don't see a problem with that, but for now, best if we only do that on the weekends. As it is, we're up after normal time so expect questions. Also…Be prepared that Severus may have told your parents about what he saw last night." Harry chuckled.

"I was prepared for that as soon as I realized he saw us." Draco mumbled. "I'm sure they won't care as long as we're not getting into trouble."

"I assumed, but still." Harry added. "We don't have to tell anyone anything. We can just say we stayed up late talking about things and settled on being a couple, then as it was late after the talk; we both went to bed. Nobody has to know we had sex, or spent the night in the same bed. That's our business."

Draco nodded in agreement. "But are we admitting to it if they ask?"

"In private. It doesn't need to be around the whole school, nor reach the teachers. As I mentioned, probably against the rules for students to be having sex. Most barely get away with making out in the halls." Harry said.

"But we can share light kisses, hold hands, and hug?" Draco inquired.

"Of course. Don't think anyone is gonna say anything, but prepared for the looks of disbelief we're together. I never made it public knowledge to Gryffindor or anyone else that I'm gay. I also don't care what anyone says, but I don't want you to be thrown off guard if you see anyone give us a dirty look." Harry informed.

"Appreciated. Everyone in Slytherin knows I'm bisexual. My parents know too and Sev." Draco stated. "Anyone gonna be heartbroken in Gryffindor that you're off the market?"

"Ginny, she's had a thing for me since we met when she was eleven. Typical school-girl crush, which might have increased when I saved her down in the chamber. But either way, I don't think it'll be a major problem. While she's flirted and shown interest, I've never reciprocated it." Harry mentioned lightly. "Even if she gets upset, it's not any skin off my back, Dray. She'll just have to accept that I'm taken and with you, for one, and two, gay, so she doesn't stand a chance."

"I wasn't worried, Harry," Draco kissed him again. "Oh, and next time we have sex…You can be top. I enjoy the bottom. One day, though…I might wanna try reversing it. If you're okay with that?"

"Fine with me," Harry agreed. "I'm glad you liked it. Now, we should get up and prepare for the day. I'm hungry for one, and two…It's a Hogsmeade day. I'd like to take you to lunch later on."

Draco blushed a bit, and nodded. "We're gonna make it pretty obvious we're dating when we enter the hall? Hold hands or something?"

"We can if you like." Harry nodded. "No reason to hide our relationship. It's not against magical law to date someone of the same gender even if people don't see it as proper. The only opinions that matter are ours and those who support us."

"Then yes, I'd like that very much." Draco smiled.

"Alright. Come on, let's get up and get dressed." Harry told him.

Harry and Draco finally detangled themselves and located their clothing from last night and got dressed lazily, not worried about their vests, ties, or cloaks. Harry was first to lightly pull the curtain back and look around. The dorm was empty and he took down the silencing spell before they stepped out and grabbed their things to head to the bathroom and shower. It didn't take very long for either of them to get clean and dressed in regular clothes.

Harry wore his uniform pants, and a black button down shirt, then black sneakers and allowed Draco to tame his mop of hair. Draco wore black pants, a dark green shirt and a dark gray vest. The two grabbed what they'd need for the day and headed out into the common room, which was pretty empty. The couple intertwined their fingers and moved into the hallway, walking through the dungeon until they got to the door leading up to the ground floor. Finally they were at the doors of the great hall.

"Ready?" Harry asked his boyfriend.

"Ready." Draco nodded.

The two proudly turned the corner into the hall and headed for the far wall to their left where the Slytherin table was seated for breakfast. Harry and Draco moved side by side, hands still linked tightly as they reached their normal seats and only stopped holding hands to get into place. Both of them had just ignored how quiet the hall seemed to get, and any looks that might have been given. Neither of them cared what others thought.

"So, only one question…" Pansy grinned. "Are you two dating?"

"We are," Draco and Harry replied at the same time.

"Hah! Called it." Pansy said victoriously. "You all owe me two Galleons!"

Harry and Draco laughed a bit at the sight of those who had apparently started a betting pool on when they'd get together having to fork over the money they owed Pansy for correctly calling the two of them dating. Harry glanced at the head table where Severus was happily accepting money from Minerva and Pamona, pocketing it afterwards. Harry and Draco smiled and shared a light kiss on the lips before getting their food and beginning to eat breakfast. So far, it was a wonderful start to their day.

. . .

When breakfast ended, Harry and Draco remained at the table with their friends until about 9:30 am. When students began to clear away to get ready for Hogsmead, which would happen at 11 am, Draco and Harry left with their friends to prepare for the trip into the village close by.

"Harry," Said Hermione's voice as they exited the great hall.

"Yeah?" Harry replied.

"Can we talk to you?" The girl asked.

Harry let go of Draco's hand with a smile. "Go on, I'll catch up soon." Harry said as Draco nodded and they shared a small kiss before Draco went on to the dungeons with the other Slytherins. "What's up?" Harry asked Hermione, who was standing with Ginny and Ron. Harry, somehow, knew what this was about and prayed it didn't go horribly. The group had moved out of a major flow of student traffic to be able to talk quietly.

"What we saw…Is it true? Are you and Malfoy dating?" Hermione questioned.

"Yes, it's true." Harry nodded. "We got together last night after talking."

"I didn't even know you liked blokes mate," Ron remarked.

"No one did, Ron…I didn't make it public knowledge and it also seemed off to just announce to the Gryffindor common room what my sexual orientation is." Harry stated.

"But why Malfoy?" Ginny asked, her voice bordering a whine of disappointment.

"We've been good friends for a while and just ended up having moments that changed how we saw one another. Like during the New Year's party, after the countdown. There was a short moment where we just stared at one another and something sparked." Harry revealed.

"It happened again a couple weeks ago when Draco fell down the stairs and I caught him, but we both fell backward and I hit the ground with him on top of me. We ended up accidentally kissing and that's really what started the whole maybe there's something between us." Harry informed. "We finally talked last night and well, here we are now. Together."

"Everyone's a bit weirded by it, considering how long you two hated one another." Ron said calmly.

"Well, Ron, I don't really care what anyone thinks or says about it. Draco and I never hated one another, it was just a rivalry we got over as we got older because it was stupid. As most children outgrow things over the years." Harry revealed. "Me going to Slytherin showed us that we have a lot in common and it's just led to this, us liking one another and dating."

"You should care…You're dating someone who picked on me, called Hermione a bad name…" Ron mentioned.

"It was in the past, Ronald," Hermione sighed. "Draco actually apologized to me during the New Year's celebration for using such words. I forgave him because he genuinely meant it and I know he's Harry's friend. I'm not about to cause a rift or make Harry have to choose between us."

"Thank you, Hermione," Harry smiled at her.

"He hurt my sister," Ron said, anger in his tone now. "It's been pretty obvious Ginny likes you, Harry…She's made advances and you ignored them, now you're with someone else? Kind'a messed up."

"It's not," Harry remarked. "Just because she made advances and likes me doesn't mean I reciprocate the feelings." Ginny looked shocked. "I won't apologize for not feeling the same."

"If things don't work out with Malfoy, would you give me a chance?" Ginny inquired.

"I'm sorry, but no, Gin," Harry replied.

"What, but that's not fair. You're giving Malfoy a-," Ginny began.

"His name is Draco." Harry said firmly. "Quit calling him Malfoy, it's rude and disrespectful. Especially when I'm standing right here, it's rather insulting to do to someone's lover."

"L-Lover?" Ron gasped. "You love him?! You just got together, it's obviously a love potion making you infatuated. Come on, we'll take you Dumbledore, he'll set you-," He tried to grab Harry's arm.

Shocked by the accusation, Harry narrowed his eyes and jerked his arm away, feeling just slightly betrayed by Ron's behavior. Ginny wasn't helping any, but she was just angry Harry wouldn't be with her or give her a chance. "It's not a love potion, Ron, because I came onto Draco first. The first kiss was an accident, but last night was not. I kissed him first." Harry stated.

"No, we're not in love. We're together on liking one another level, but there's obvious room to grow into more and we're both fine with that. I'll ask you nicely not to assume the worst of Draco, nor accuse him of such a terrible thing. I thought you were my friend and would support my choices." Harry remarked.

"I support your smart choices." Ron folded his arms over one another. "You're dating the enemy's son! Lucius Malfoy is a death eater, Harry! You think he can't get his son to join Voldemort? He will. He'll hurt you and you're okay with that!"

"Ron!" Hermione said quickly.

"I know what Lucius is, Ron, but what you don't know is that he doesn't want to serve Voldemort anymore." Harry enlightened. "He wants out to protect his wife and son. However, it seems Voldemort is the only one who can remove that mark, so he's bound until another way is found. It's survival, and Draco would never join the death eaters. In fact, that's where our whole rivalry ended and friendship began."

"Draco had wanted to be my friend and also hoped that since I was the one to defeat Voldemort in so many battles that I could free his parents from servitude because if the dark lord ever finds out they want out; he'll kill them." He continued. "I told Draco I would do all I could to save his parents and set them free. Even so, that whole matter doesn't have bearing on the fact Draco and I are dating."

"But Harry…I've wanted a chance with you longer. Don't I deserve one before Mal-…Draco?" Ginny asked.

"That's not how it works, Ginny. It doesn't go by who wanted me first…It's up to feelings and I don't have any for you. And going back to if Draco and I don't end up working out…We go back to being friends, no hard feelings about a failed relationship." Harry said. "As for you and I having a chance, it's not gonna happen. I don't feel anything for you, Ginny."

"But if you just give-," Ginny stepped forward to grab his hand.

Harry moved away from her, hands up and out of range before putting them by his sides again. "Ginny, I said no. I don't like you that way; I've always seen you as a friend, a little sister. Even if I didn't see you that way, you have no chance because I'm gay. Alright?" He admitted, Ron and Ginny's eyes widened. "I'm only into males. Only attracted to males. So if Draco and I don't work out, you still don't get me because I'm not attracted to women."

Ginny looked like she might cry as Ron comforted her. "That's harsh, Harry…" Ron scoffed. "My family has taken you in as one of their own, and you'd hurt Ginny like this?"

"I won't apologize for being the way I am, Ron. I've known I am gay since third year…Maybe even younger than that." Harry said. "Now, are we done with this?"

"It's messed up, Harry. And wrong. How can you like a guy? It's not right." Ron commented.

"That's your opinion, but it's not against the law therefore that doesn't make it wrong just because others don't like it." Harry stated. "Be mad all you want, it won't change me being gay or dating Draco. And Ginny, you're just gonna have to accept what is. You and I have no chance."

"Stop being mean to my little sister." Ron ordered.

"I'm not being mean, I'm being honest and forward." Harry remarked.

"And we appreciate it, Harry. I support you," Hermione smiled lightly.

"Thanks, Hermione," Harry replied gently.

"I don't accept it or support it." Ron huffed.

"Neither do I. I don't believe that you're just suddenly announcing you're gay." Ginny stated firmly.

"Well, I'm sorry you feel that way…But I'm not leaving Draco or pretending to be something I'm not just to appease you two." Harry folded his arms over one another. "Now, can we drop this and just go back to being friends, or have you decided you can't be friends with someone gay? Your family doesn't mind and you know I love you all like my own flesh and blood."

"You're not my family!" Ron yelled. "You have no family. Sirius and Remus don't count. Your only family was your parents, and they're dead."

Harry's eyes widened when Ron went there of all places. "Ronald!" Hermione scolded in shock. "You take that back right now!"

"It's fine, Hermione…" Harry told her. "It's fine." He put his hands up to back up. "He made his stance clear and he's right. I'm not a Weasley, Sirius and Remus are in my life as my father's friends. They're not blood, so they don't biologically count as family. My parents are dead and so are the other Potter family members. It's just me. We've said all we need to. Goodbye." Harry turned from the group and started for the dungeon entrance.

"Harry!" Hermione called after him. "Don't listen to Ron, he's just-,"

But Harry blocked it out and escaped through the door into the dungeons. Harry ended up against the wall for a moment to compose himself with a few deep breaths and then he went to the wall and spoke the password to Slytherin common room as the door opened and he waltzed through quietly.

"Harry!" Draco beamed and went over to hug his boyfriend.

Harry smiled and hugged Draco back. "I told you I'd catch up." Harry informed.

"What did your friends want?" Draco wondered.

"Just to ask if it was true that we're dating." Harry responded. There was no need to ruin the day with the extra that happened. Harry wouldn't let it get him down.

"You seem…Upset?" Draco pointed out.

"I'll tell you later, babe," Harry promised. He would; they wouldn't have secrets between them.

"Did something happen?" Draco pressed lightly.

"Just…What I expected would. It's alright, though. Don't worry. I'll tell you later, right now, I just want to get ready for a nice day with you." Harry smiled.

"Okay," Draco nodded. "Let's go enjoy the day then."
