A/N: Because Blue Bloods as a tendency to 'skip' over showing important moments / beats in its character's lives and Producers have said that giving Jamko a baby creates a host of problems because it takes Eddie off the streets and away from the core of what the show is about – fighting crime - well… IMO the Writer's then SAG strike provides the perfect solution to both give fans what they want, and keep Eddie on the streets because a large passage of time – like say 9 months or so would be completely believable between the season 13 finale and the season 14 premiere so if there are any actual paid BB writer's (or Producers) out there lurking these boards please seriously consider this path…

And here I'll even start you off with a sample opening scene (feel free to use it – I won't claim copyright LOL)

-Awkwardly clears throat- um disclaimer: I don't own Blue Bloods - this is just wishful thinking on a humbled fans part...

...

Jamie walks into the 2-9 looking half asleep and almost runs right into The Captain "Oh sorry." He apologetically mutters as he side steps out of her way.

For a moment McNichols looks like she's about to rip him a new one but at seeing the sleep deprivation on his face a smirk appears instead "Ah yes, I remember that look. Not getting much sleep there Reagan?"

"Whatever gave you that idea?" Jamie tosses back with a defeated laugh.

"Well, the spit up on your jacket for one." McNichols replies as she points to a spot on his shoulder.

Jamie turns his head to look and then groans "I thought I got it all."

"You NEVER get it all." McNichols laughs as the doors to the precinct open and Eddie enters "How's Janko holding up? She look as bad as you?"

"You can ask her yourself." Jamie replies as he gestures to his wife.

Turning, McNichols sees a fairly put together Eddie heading towards them "Well don't you look spiffy for someone who only had a baby 6 weeks ago." She tosses out unimpressed.

"Trust me." Eddie huffs out "It's the makeup." She promises.

"I seriously considered using some myself." Jamie admittedly chimes in.

"Hmmm." McNichols muses as she eyes Jamie "Maybe you should have. Anyway, welcome back you two. You..." She adds as she points at Eddie "…better not be late for roll call and you…" She continues as she focuses her attention on Jamie and chuckles "…have a mountain of case files on your desk to catch up on."

Jamie groans.

"Yeah, I knew that would make your day. Again…" McNichols offers as she turns to walk away "Welcome back!" She calls leaving Jamie and Eddie alone.

They both watch her leave a second in silence.

"I should check on her." Eddie suddenly announces as she pulls out her phone and starts to dial.

"No." Jamie laughs as he reaches out and places his hand over Eddie's phone stopping her actions.

"But she's never been away either of us for this long before!" Eddie protests "Never mind both of us at the same time!"

"Eddie…" Jamie soothingly promises "She's fine."

Eddie studies her husband "Wait. You already checked on her didn't you?"

For a split second a look at being caught crosses Jamie's face but then he quickly covers "I can neither confirm nor deny that claim." he dismissively replies before turning to walk to his office where he indeed sees a stack of files.

"Hey Sarge!" Christo greets from already inside "Officer Janko, welcome back! How is the little bundle of joy?"

Eddie turns to look at his husband "What did I tell you – all about the kid now!"

Jamie laughs "She's good – we hope – first day at daycare so we'll see."

"Oh so it will likely be harder on you two then her." Christo deduces in understanding.

Eddie looks at Christo in surprise "You have kids?"

Christo shakes his head "Nah, but I did a little research – need to know what I might be up against now." He jokes "Sarge here has always reiterated to be prepared for anything."

"Still the boy scout teachings huh?" Eddie muses.

Jamie shrugs "Whatever works."

"Speaking of teachings." Christo interrupts as he pulls out his phone "I wanted to show you the latest tracking on that electronics ring." He explains as he and Jamie step together to look at the device.

"Well I should have known I'd find you here!" Badillo's voice sounds.

Jamie, Eddie and Christo all turn towards the voice to see Badillo standing in the doorway.

"Let me guess? Showing off baby pictures?" Badillo questions.

Eddie's eyes light up "Well since you asked!" she happily quips as she pulls out her phone.

"You can show them to me later." Badillo counters "Right now you need to change and get to roll call because the last thing I need is my partner to be late on her first day back!"

"Why is that something YOU need?" Eddie inquires.

"Because your replacement while you were on maternity leave was notorious for either slipping in at the last possible second or a few seconds after…" Badillo explains "It left me edgey and one day I snapped and told them you'd never be late." He adds before pointing a warning finger at Eddie "Don't make a liar out of me Janko."

A wide smile graces Eddie's face "Aw you missed me!" She quips in reply to her partner before turning to her husband "He missed me." She happily tells him.

"Go." Jamie order with a slight laugh.

"Later Sarge!" Eddie calls as she heads for the door with Badillo following.

"Okay so where were we?" Jamie questions as he turns his attention back to Christo and the phone.

A/N: See and then the show can just merrily continue on its crime fighting way – with of course cute little baby scenes - at LEAST 1 per episode (I feel I must specify that considering Season 13's Jamie and Eddie 2.0 meant they as a couple pretty much disappeared) scattered throughout.

The End.
