"I can't believe you didn't tell us sooner," Roman complained. "Did you tell Tom before us?"
"Yeah. Well, he is the father."
"So? We were one egg, once."
"Not how fraternal twins work, Rome."
"Guys," Kendall interrupted. The crowds outside the car were starting to bang on the windows again.
"Maybe it's a good thing your kids aren't coming today," Roman observed, looking at the angry protestors.
"Yeah, maybe." Kendall hated to admit when he was wrong.
"Don't go for some drawn out custody battle, Ken," Shiv said unexpectedly. "Kids remember everything."
They sat in silence, remembering their own parents' divorce and the trips back and forth to England. The car finally came to a halt.
"Be careful today," said Kendall. "Especially you, Shiv."
"They don't scare me." Shiv took off her seatbelt. "Ready, Rome?"
"Yeah. My speech is awesome. I'm ready."
"I'll get out first." Kendall opened the car door and stepped out quickly, coming around to Shiv's side to let her out. The mob swarmed around them, Kendall putting a protective arm around Shiv as Roman got out the other side of the car.
"Back off!" Kendall yelled at the jostling crowd as he steered Shiv. "Have some respect."
Roman felt for his speech in his pocket. He was ready. It was time.
