Why…
Why are we still here…
Just to suffer…?
Every second… I can feel everything numbing…
My arms…
My legs…
Even my-
…
…
Oh. You're here.
At least I can talk to you. Unlike the Writer, that jackass.
It's a pretty odd thing. You'd think after ten years of knowing the imagination of someone from a higher realm of existence conjured your world and everything in it that the least you could get was a simple hello, but noooooo . Apparently, they like playing hard to get! Trying to pretend they don't exist and that the world is somewhat tangible has driven me absolutely bat-shit insane, so here I am!
Talking to myself.
Talking to you.
I don't hate you. You just happen to be here. And now you get to hear me ramble.
How unfortunate, right? Right. Hearing someone ramble about "nothing" must be the worst thing you've ever been through. A horrible, horrifying act of torture only comparable to the ancient methods of brazen bulls and rats, right?
Grow some balls.
Anyways, that's nothing. Uh…, you probably can't tell where I am right now, so I guess I could start my ramble with where I am.
I'm… in a cramped barrel… out in the middle of the ocean. Heh, wasn't expecting that, were you? Well, it's true. Believe it or not, I had a boat before this. Small, rickety, old, and shitty, yes, but a boat nevertheless. If this was a game, it'd definitely be the free starter boat, no question.
I'm sure you can guess what happened to it. If you're really that curious, it was fairly quick. You can say your condolences now.
…
…
Or not. Fine, be a dick for all I care. See where that gets you.
Ugh…, and speaking of acting a dick, My head's been ringing for the longest time, and it's driving me mad. If I told you the reason, you'd understand, right? I've told this to a few people, and it took them a while to really understand what that meant. If it doesn't for you, then... oh well. I'm not leaving this barrel anytime soon, so I could care less.
It's like a sort of future sight, but backward. Past sight? Eh. Anyways, it starts with that ringing, that annoying ass ringing. I'd rather take the noises from those big-ass boars back at Mt. Colubo over that abomination. It's like a high-pitched squeal knocking around my ears for God knows how long.
…
No, literally. The time varies. Suckiest thing in the world, I know.
The best part, however, is after the stupid, dumb, annoying ass ringing. The flashbacks. That's the second part of the Past Sight I mentioned. They aren't long, and they aren't super complex, either. They're more like images flashing in my brain. It's quick, and due to that, you'd expect it to be one of those weird and unexplained 'high outta my mind but not actually high outta my mind' moments, right?
Well…, yes and no.
Yes, because that's exactly what it is. It's an annoying ass high-pitched ringing in your ears followed by random flashes of some person. How could it not be?
No, because as soon as the moment's over, the context behind it follows soon after. You'd also have to prepare for the brunt of it, because that shit unloads like my grandpa during a "training session." It's literally a massive file of someone's life downloading into your brain that you never ask for. What, you think I'm kidding when I say random?
Take a look at this. Should make my point a lot clearer.
This Past Sight is centered around a boy named Koby Powers.
Koby was born to an enthusiastic mother and a stubborn father on the remote Dusk island in the East Blue.
...
...
That is… interesting. I thought everyone there died. At least, that's what the Marines said.
Actually, now that I think about it, that should've been red flag number 1.
From the moment he came out of the womb, he suffered from a defect where he didn't receive as much oxygen as a normal newborn. As a result, Koby came out silent. So silent, in fact, that both his parents and their local acquaintances began crying due to the downright horrific thought of their child kicking the proverbial bucket. Fortunately, town doctors had managed to resuscitate the boy, bringing bright smiles to the faces of many Koby-hopefuls.
Seems the themes of perseverance and hope run strong with this one, no? Next thing you know, they'll be calling him Luke Skywalker or some shit, and his dad will be the big bad. Was that twist crazy to anyone else or no? Just me? Feels like it.
Anyways, henceforth from this incident, he was dubbed "The Miracle Child" by literally everyone because, despite having every odd stacked against him from the start, he, along with the doctors, did everything they could so that he could breathe to see another day.
Relatable, honestly.
Saying that Koby was a bit fearful growing up would be a major understatement. Dusk Island held all sorts of extravagant life that made it unlike any other island in the East Blue. In fact, one day, these 'animals' were so extravagant that all of Dusk suffered from an unprecedented invasion of their extravagance. Mind you, this wasn't that long ago. Maybe two or three years back.
Of course, in order to adapt to this unfortunate downside, The Marines had to adopt... less-than-suitable methods. Methods that most would probably be considered immoral or inhumane and are likely against multiple animal rights in multiple countries around the world, or so I've heard. This next part kinda blows me because they managed to build a containment site to hold these things. And in a month, no less…
They called it SHEILD. I'm sure you can guess why.
Koby, amid the ensuing wildfire and chaos, found himself running for cover before finding himself at the edge of the island. He's shivering like crazy, on the brink of losing all hope, when he spots a ship. Finding the strength in his voice, he shouts, begs, and pleads to the ship, hoping that they'll reconsider their departure without him on board.
For the spirit of a quick conclusion, I'll say he got onto the boat and leave it at that. I told you this shit was random. I don't even know who this guy is! Well, I guess I do now…
Aha, you thought I'd actually give you a coherent story with a decent main character and satisfying conclusion? Hehe…
…

Grow some balls.
