"Please brother take care of my Rem." With her last breath a Pantheran priestess passed on. The child birth had been too much for her weakened body. Living in a small border town had not been kind to her. A Fallen plague had swept thru like wild fire. The human king refused to send aid to a small town. The lesser races residing there would serve the kingdom by letting the epidemic run its course in exile.
Twelve year old Vash Gaellu had loved his sister dearly.
However, now he had to figure out how to care for and protect his newly born niece. Not to mention the family seal she inherited. Life could demand a lot of those that lived it.
Ten years later...
"Bring out the demon spawn!"
"We don't want you here scum!"
"The child needs to die for the worlds sake!"
Vash looked back at his only family. He pulled out his iron knuckles. Then thought better of it. 'If I live they'll be taken anyway.' He tossed them to his niece gently. "Take care of those for me Rem. I'll come back for them someday."
"Of course Uncle Vash. What are you going to do?"
"I promised your mother I would take care of you. So I'm going to do my job. You stay here while I lead the mob away. Once their gone you run far from here, understand."
The black furred child ran over to him. She hugged the only parent she had ever known. She commited every inch of his features to her memory. From his dirty blonde fur to his athletic build. "Promise I'll see you again."
"Have I ever lied to you child?"
"No, you haven't. I love you Uncle Vash." She finally released her hug with those words.
"I love you too Rem. My precious little obsidian shard." He smiled one last time then raced outside. 'Sorry child, this may be the first time I've lied to you.' He hit some of the ringleaders with his fist and legs. Taunting the mob on the edge of murdering a child already. Soon they followed enraged.
Later...
"it's a Fallen assault run for your lives!"
Soon a mob of over fifty was reduced to one. He was their prey and now the lone survivor. He had held his own for some time. Until the Fallen leader bearing a long spear brought him down.
"Lady Edelguard we checked the village thoroughly. The fabled bearer of Krebskulm is nowhere to be found."
"That isn't good. Someone must of talked. Put the whole place to the torch. We've wasted enough time here." In frustration she kicked the mortal that had given her trouble. To her surprise he was still breathing despite multiple wounds. She pointed at the man. "Take that Pantheran with us, alive! We'll use him to train the new recruits until he dies. Or eat him if supplies run low."
Nine years later...
"Wow Diablo, that was crazy awesome!" The blonde elf stated with excitement."
The man laughed maniacally. "I told you I'm a true demon lord after all." After taking in the demolished bridge he turned away. "Come on Shera with have to save Rem from that rougue Fallen in the city."
Meanwhile, on the scorched battlefield...
Edelguard awoke to fresh water being dripped in her mouth. She took in the dirty blonde fur and noted her saviors odd compassionate expression. "Vash Gaellu, Why?"
"Just repaying my debt to you. After all if you hadn't taken pity on me I would have died years ago."
"Don't be a fool, you were my personal slave. I was attempting to corrupt you into becoming one of us." His slave collar was gone likely destroyed by that burning white light. "Be gone from my sight mortal. Your free now, go live out the rest of your short life."
"Thank you Edelguard for your kindness." He bowed respectfully to his former mistress.
"Leave, before I kill you myself!"
So the man stealthily headed for the nearby river. He could use a bath anyway. "I'm finally returning my dear obsidian shard.'
Faltra...
"Thank you Diablo you saved or lives." Rem took in the numerous dead adventurers sadly. 'Such a high price though. At least Emile surved thanks to the timely save.' She looked down at her iron knuckles. 'Some lives simply can't be saved.'
Later...
The young black fured girl was heading down for dinner. Before she turned the last corner she overheard the innkeeper talking to someone.
"A Pantheran with that kind of fur is pretty rare. We did have such a guest. However, she checked out a while ago, sorry sir."
Rem kept herself concealed by the corner. 'Was it another Fallen spy?'
"Sorry to bother you then, Miss. Have a good night."
When she heard that voice her ears perked cutely. 'No it couldn't be. He must of died years ago.' The summoner had to see him. When she looked it was the face she remembered so vividly. She completely lost her composure. She dashed at the guy full speed and hugged him tightly. "Uncle Vash, where have you been all this time?"
"Careful Rem, I was burned fairly recently." Then he answered her question as he patted her head. I've been a slave for the past nine years. I was recently freed. It's a long story. We can discuss it privately later if you wish."
"Alright Uncle, we will for certain. I have a lot to tell you as well." She backed up and the light caught the metal of her collar.
"I see you've had to endure a masters whims as well."
The girl clutched the smooth metal. "I'm not a slave, it was a magical accident. My friend Shera and I ended up like this. However, Diablo promised to figure out how to remove it."
"Who is this Diablo you speak of?"
"He's part of our adventuring party now, I guess."
"Really, do you have room for one more?"
"For you, of course jus.."
"Rem, I didn't know you liked older men." The blonde elf smiled broadly as she rested her chin on the Pantheran woman's shoulder. Does this mean I can have Diablo all to myself?"
"Shut up Shera, this is my uncle!" She blushed at her feelings being outed to her family.
Fallen camp...
Edelguard marched into her private tent after giving her report. "Mortal, I need a massage immediately!" She blushed at her own foolishness. Vash was gone thanks to her feeling merciful. She sat on her neatly placed bedding. She examined the bandages he had wrapped her injuries in. He was very good at taking care of her. They still smelled vaguely of sandlewood. She never understood his insistence on that particular scent. The woman let the soothing aroma fill her.
'Dammit, he's been gone for less than a day! Why do I miss that stupid mortal so much?' As she let his musk surround her. She felt a stirring in her lower body. Her breath quickened as she remembered. His hands caressing her naked body as he saw to her physical needs. That little moan of his as they became one. 'If I ever see Vash again he will repay my kindness, until I'm satisfied.'
Faltra...
The male Pantheran sneezed heavily just before sitting down. "Sorry, I hope I'm not coming down from something." The guy reached a hand out to the demon at the table. I'm Vash Gaellu, nice to meet you Diablo."
"Of course you are." The former shut in glared at the hand. "You just sneezed, respect those around you. No touching furball."
"Your right, sorry about that." The man took a seat slightly embarrassed.
The demon examined the newcomer. "I hear you want to join our party. What can you do?"
