Hello my readers! I'm back, all my other fics are having slow but steady research. Recently I completed Bloodborne and have been re watching RWBY so I really wanted to make this fanfic. All my other fics will have chapters out soon. I hope you enjoy the FanFic. I don't own the rights to Bloodborne or RWBY.
Born From Blood to End the Hunt
Prologue
The Hunter gasped for air as he collapsed on one knee. The crimson light of the blood moon washed over him revealing several grievous wounds. This had been his first real battle in a long time. The Good Hunter had fought many enemies with little effort. However, they had not been Great Ones. The battle had been difficult, but he had become so used to fighting that he had not died in what seemed like ages.
"This is exciting! I haven't fought this hard since I got here!" The Hunter yelled. He was thrilled that he had finally met a worthy opponent.
He stared at the Moon Presence as it hovered above the ground. It was all or nothing. If he truly wanted to get out of this nightmare, he would have to become one.
The Hunter rose to his feet and stuck a blood vile into his right thigh. His wounds began to heal. And he was filled with the urge to hunt. To kill. To become. As he watched the Moon Presence prepare to attack, he also prepared. To be honest, the Hunter had been holding back. All he had been using was his Threaded Cane. Not a bad weapon, but when put up against this monster it was not going to do enough damage. He then picked up his cane in his left hand and began to draw a weapon from his scabbard. This specific weapon was one he did not use unless he was serious. It was Chikage, his strongest weapon. And the one he was most proficient at using. Wielding these two weapons, the Hunter advanced. His enemy did the same. It touched the ground on all four, ready to attack.
The Hunter smiled. He knew he would win. He knew he would end this dream and this wretched hunt. He couldn't help but laugh as he rushed to attack.
"It's time for one last hunt!" He screamed as he leapt upon his adversary.
He slashed with Chikage followed by a swift whip of the Threaded Cane. He moved in a rhythm. One he had mastered with amazing skill. He quickly sheathed his sword as he drew out his pistol and pulled the trigger. Quicksilver dug into eldridge flesh, stunning the Moon Presence. This allowed enough time for the Hunter to stab himself with Chikage and quickly pull it out. The Moon Presence recovered to see the Good Hunter advance once again with blood dripping and swirling around the katana shaped blade. He whipped at the Moon Presence, causing it to move to the right. Which was what the Hunter wanted. He slashed from afar as a blade of blood flew towards the Great One. He slashed again and again. The blood blades all hit their mark. This caused the Moon presence to rush at the Hunter, picking him up in the process.
Once again, this was all what the Hunter had wanted. He had fought many battles against unbelievable nightmares and eldridge gods. He had died many times learning that there was one thing between him and another death. Strategy. He had skill, yes, and a lot of strength. What he really needed was to be one step ahead in his mind. He had to think like a beast to beat a beast. Which is what he had just done. He grappled onto one of its tentacles and pulled himself to the Moon Presence. He stabbed it in the head. And it writhed in pain. It dropped him and he landed on the ground and he felt the all too familiar feeling of pain. He was not afraid of death or pain. All he cared about was the end. The end of the dream. A release from the hell he had lived in for what seemed like eternity.
He didn't care, he threw attack after attack. He pushed the Moon Presence back. He could see it retreating. Was it…afraid of him? A being that was fear itself was afraid of him? The smile that had occupied the Hunter's face vanished. Once again, he was feared by his prey. He advanced forward attacking as he did. As the last of the blood on Chikage disappeared, the Hunter sighed. It was getting more cautious. So he would have to use his last plan. He backed away. The Moon Presence took the opportunity to attack the Hunter. He wrapped the Hunter in its hand and began to hit him Mercilessly. Before any more blows could be landed. The Threaded Cane was stabbed into the massive fist. The Hunter Rose from the ground and sheathed the Chikage. He looked up as the Moon Presence once again tried to attack him. But before it could reach him. Its head was dismembered from its body. The Hunter stood behind the Great One's body. As he did this, the crimson moon fractured as its ruler had just been slain. The Hunter replaced Chikage and picked up his Threaded Cane. As soon as he picked it up. His head began to hurt. Knowledge of countless ages began to rush into his mind. Then his entire body began to hurt as he slowly transformed into a Great One.
He knew all of the Universe's mysteries. He knew that humanity would survive and he knew one last thing before his consciousness began to fade. It was over. The dream, the hunt, the endless night. It was all over. Or that is what he believed. He heard a few words as he drifted away.
"Are you cold?" A familiar, distant voice asked. "Oh Good Hunter." Then everything stopped.
Chapter 1
Light. That was the only thing that seeped through his eyelids. He began to open his eyes. The Hunter stared into a blue sky as he awoke. He sat up and began to observe his surroundings. He was in a forest. Or that's what he thought. He didn't remember forests being crimson red.
"Where am I?" The Hunter asked as he stood up.
He felt something at his side as he stood up. It was his Threaded Cane. Memories began flooding back to him. Most of the nightmare he had lived through but there were a few that he remembered from his time before the dream. His name was really the only thing. Jason Barthalamuel. Everything else wasn't even decipherable.
"Well, that nightmare is over, I remember becoming a Great One. Is this where they lived?" he asked himself.
Jason looked down at himself. In the dream he had only liked one thing. His slight love for style. His clothes were all black with three pairs of gold buttons down the front of his jacket. A black tie was slightly visible at the top as well as the collar of a white shirt. His trousers were black with a gold chain hanging out of his right pocket where his pocket watch was. He had a black cloak. The one he had woken up with. It was a simple one with a hood. But the hood was not worn atop his head because a black fedora with a small family crest on its left side sat where it had resided. Aside from his strange fashion sense he really had no love for anything in his life. He could barely remember his life before he awoke to that nightmare. He looked to his left and saw Chikage still fastened to his belt.
"This isn't the dream. It's not possible." Jason said in denial.
He looked at the sky. It was late in the day he could tell that. Probably late afternoon. He confirmed this by looking down at his pocket watch. It was 3: 12 PM, late enough to see the moon. Wait, It was shattered? Jason remembered that the moon had shattered as a result of him killing the Moon Presence. He spied a familiar shape covered in red foliage. A lamp post. He held out his hand and it lit with a blue flame. His brow furrowed.
"Maybe I am still in the dream." However, he stopped thinking when he noticed that none of the pale beings were clawing at the lamp's flame.
"Huh, weird." He said.
"Alright, let's try to find a way out of this forest." Jason said.
He had wandered around for about ten minutes looking for a landmark or something. But all he saw was red, an endless forest of red.
"I think I woke up from one nightmare and was just thrust into another." He whispered.
He then heard someone talking in the distance. He needed to get there fast. Before he could think his mind had already calculated the fastest route. Before he could even register what was happening he was already jumping from tree to tree. He quietly landed behind some bushes and began to observe what was happening.
"Yes students, the Forest of Forever Fall is indeed beautiful, but we are not here to sightsee. Professor Peach has asked all of you to collect samples from the trees deep inside this forest and I am here to make sure none of you die while doing so." The women leading the group of children said.
"That sounds really comforting for kids to hear Ms." He thought.
He decided to make his presence known and walked toward the group. He approached them and asked the person who was obviously an adult.
"Excuse me ma'am, but do you mind if you could point me in the direction out of this forest?" He asked with a polite tone. He then noticed she was tense and on guard.
"Is that…is that a riding crop?" He asked himself.
"I couldn't sense his presence at all." Glynda thought. "And you are?" She asked with a cocked brow.
"Oh! Where are my manners? Jason Barthalamuel at your service." Jason said with a bow.
"Glynda Goodwitch." She replied. "What might you be doing in the Forest of Forever Fall?" The blonde asked.
"Well I was told the quickest way to the nearest city was through this forest." Jason lied.
"You were told? By whom?" Glynda asked as she looked over him. "He is obviously an experienced huntsman, and someone who has a fine but plain taste in fashion." She thought.
"A bartender in a small settlement recommended that I go through here. Although I think I should have purchased a map first." he said.
Jason's story seemed to be legitimate enough to the witch.
"Do you mind giving me directions? Or will I be forced to wander this forest for the rest of eternity?" He asked with a hint of sarcasm in his voice.
Glynda eyed his weapon, it seemed to be his sword that was strapped to his left hip. But his cane could just as much be a weapon as the sword. If he had wanted to attack, he could have done so with the element of surprise on his side.
Glynda sighed as she began to speak, "You can stay with me, I think you should come with us when we return to Beacon." She said.
"Alright, what's-" Jason began, but he stopped. He was going to ask what Beacon was, but information rushed into his brain. Beacon was an Academy that trained hunters to fight beasts known as Grimm. "Something is wrong with me." Jason thought.
"You were saying?" Glynda asked.
"It's nothing Ms. Goodwitch." Jason quickly replied.
"That's Professor Goodwitch, mind you." The blonde woman responded.
"I am deeply sorry Professor." The Hunter apologized.
Goodwitch then turned to her students. "Collect one jar of sap each. This forest is filled with the creatures of Grimm so stay near your teammates. We rendezvous here at four o'clock. Have fun." She said. He saw everyone split into groups of four. Except one team dragged someone from another team.
"Come on Jauney boy!" The man said as the person he spoke to looked at his team with a melancholy expression.
"Well, that isn't exactly fair," Jason said as the professor looked at him.
"What do you mean?" She asked.
"Those four are exploiting a weaker person who belongs with another team." Jason said.
"Team CRDN? Yes you could say that they are bullies." Glynda replied,
"Well, are you just going to let them wander off by themselves?" Jason asked.
"Yes, they have to take care of themselves. If things get out of hand. I will step in." The blonde professor said.
"So that makes you pretty strong right?" Jason asked with honest happiness in his voice.
"Yes." She answered.
"That is amazing! What are you going to do, Professor?" Jason asked.
"Watch for Grimm and keep an eye on you. I still don't trust you." Glynda said.
"I wouldn't either if I was in your shoes." He replied.
Glynda noticed that this man was quite handsome for a hunter. Despite the fact he had a small scar on the bottom of his jaw. His manners were also quite commendable.
—
It had been about twenty minutes according to Jason's pocket watch. He placed it in his pocket, but before Glynda caught sight of it.
"That's quite the antique you got there. Pocket watches of that standard are very hard to find. Is it a family heirloom?" She asked.
"Something like that." Jason replied as he leaned on his Threaded Cane.
He then heard a distant roar. He didn't recognize it at first, but then the information flooded into his mind. Grimm, Ursa type. Big, strong and fast. Weakness: neck area. "Oh no." He said aloud.
"Pardon?" Glynda asked with a brow cocked.
"Professor Goodwitch, a Ursa is attacking your students." He said in a cool tone.
"What!? Where!?" She asked.
Jason looked at her and pointed to hir left with his thumb.
She rushed towards where he had pointed while Jason started to hop through the treetops.
Goodwitch and Jason got there just in time to see Jaune facing off against the Ursa.
Glynda was about to intervene, but Jason stopped her. "No, he needs this." Jason said as he watched with a cool head.
Glynda was going to protest but when she saw Jaune block the Ursa's attack and behead the Grimm. She looked back at Jason.
"How did you know?" She asked.
"Hunters grow through trial and error. Trust me, I know." Jason said with a smirk.
"Well then class. I think this is a good time to return to Beacon." Glynda said.
The students began to pack their sap and were ready to return to the Bullhead that had dropped them off. After around ten minutes of walking, the group arrived at the Bullhead. Everyone got in casually. As for Jason he eyed the machine with awe and skepticism.
"What is this-" He began to think but once again, his brain was filled with knowledge. Bullhead, a machine that has the ability to fly, and is powered by Dust.
Jason got inside and took a seat. "What is Dust?" He thought. Dust, a substance that landed on this planet worldwide when the moon shattered. Entire pieces of the moon landed on the planet. Dust altered human anatomy to the point of giving them special abilities and protective shields.
"Huh," He thought.
On the way back he could tell the students were all looking at him. He knew they were suspicious, especially that one with th black hair and bow.
After another ten minutes the Bullhead landed at Beacon Academy.
The students exited the Bullhead and began to walk towards their dorms. As for Jason, Glynda guided him to Ozpin's office. When they entered the building Glynda told him they were going up the tower to meet with Headmaster Ozpin. So they entered an elevator. As for Jason, he had never really liked towers. When the doors opened he could see a man sitting behind the desk with spectacles on.
"Hello Professor Goodwitch. Who is our guest?" He asked.
"This is Jason Barthalamuel, a hunter we met in the Forest of Forever Fall." She responded.
"Oh is that so. Tell me, why did you bring him to me?" Ozpin asked.
"Because he heard a Ursa when I couldn't." Glynda replied.
"Really? That is quite amazing for a human." Ozpin said.
"He is an experienced huntsman, he wants to know if he could stay in Vale." Goodwitch said.
"Well as long as he has proper identification." Ozpin said.
"Which I don't." Jason said.
Ozpin stared at him for a moment.
"Tell me Mr. Barthalamuel, would you like to teach at Beacon Academy?" Ozpin asked.
Jason looked puzzled and answered with one word, "Huh?"
