So... Now I'm writing Bluey fanfiction now... Interesting times, isn't it? I watched the series on a dare and now I'm so hooked you might as well call it an addiction. I came across a couple stories that put Bluey and her friends in an RPG setting and I thought, "you know what? I got that dog in me. Imma do that too." So here's a bit of a beta story just to see how it can go and get some feedback on what people think.

So you aren't lost in the sauce, I mostly used the Elder Scrolls system mixed with some DnD.

Bluey: Warrior

Bingo: Healer. NOT cleric.

Chloe: wizard

Indy: Druid

Honey: Ranger w/ Lion familiar

Coco: Acrobat

Snickers: Fighter (might re-class him to a stealth base since he's good at hiding in the show. see Typewriter.)

Rusty: Knight

Jack: Berserker

Mackenzie: Warlock

Valerie: Fighter /w a bow

It would be up to Chloe, Indy, Valerie, and Mackenzie to provided cover from the wall while Bluey and her company made their way through the courtyard. The Princess of Roseland was depending on them to take back her castle. And they were honor bound to do just that!

"Enemy closing in!" Rusty shouted.

That was to be expected. The monsters were rallying to defend their stolen territory. Coco looked up and saw from the balcony above a unit of bows and crossbows. "Watch out! Arrows."

Bingo spread her hands apart, and a ward appeared around her. "Get close to me! I'll use my ward!"

The group closed in while the balcony group fired projectiles back. Chloe threw an exploding fire spell, Valerie shot three arrows simultaneously, Indy lobbed a wad of flammable tree sap, and Mackenzie used a lighting spell that chained to the clustered enemies.

Rusty pulled out his shield and beat it aggressively three times. It glowed and he held it forward then charged. He sped up quickly and barreled through the scattered line of monsters, way ahead of the group and stopped short of the castle gate, skidding and about facing at the same time. Now the monsters had to fight at two fronts.

Jack and Bluey charged forward battle axe and broad sword in hand. Jack was the faster runner. He made it to the enemy first and slammed his axe down in the middle of the charging monsters. Thanks to Indy's sap, the rest were unable to move away from the attackers and had to fight the two fronts, almost immobile. Bluey was close behind Jack, deflecting a monster's scythe and slaying it with one blow. She parried another's club and finished it off as well. Bingo, Coco, Honey, and Snickers charged forth to join them.

Bingo threw a magic missile and blocked a few arrows with a ward with a squeak. Had she not paid attention, those arrows would have struck her. But she had pulled it just in time. An ethereal lion jamped passed Bingo and slayed one of the archers while a second arrow passed her other side and vanquished its partner.

Bingo turned and saw Honey loading another arrow in her bow. "Bingo, look out!"

Bingo turned again and two monsters jumped over the lion and for her. She squealed and brought up her ward instinctively, but it wouldn't stop them from passing. Before they could touch her though, two golden magic knives stopped them and turned them both to the black dust they were spawned from. Coco landed next to her and the knives flew loyally back to her side. She gave a wink and the three girls teamed up to continue the fight.

Snickers gave out a mighty war cry and charged in with his mace. Though he was a bit at disadvantage with his short arms and legs, the mace offered the extra length he needed while also delivering powerful blows. He spun the mace with his body and moved a few feet, striking several monsters as he went before slowing the mace down and catching himself. He brought the mace overhead, seeing a quick beast charging at him then slammed it down just in time to crush it before he could be touched.

"Let's move up," Mackenzie motioned with his hand. His left hand igniting into purple then forming a transparent bow into his hand and a quiver on his back. "We need to get the first gate open before they get trapped down there!"

"I'll run ahead!" Valerie called, "Cover me!" The Corgi drew her sword and dagger and charged all the way to the first gate winch.

"Hang on, Valerie!" Chloe shot small firebolts to make sure she didn't hit Valerie. Mackenzie fired the arrows from his summoned bow and quiver.

Indy kept her attention on the group below. She saw the monsters pouring through a set of windows hoping to flank the party. Seeing some ivy near the window she knew just to do. She stretched her hand and commanded the ivy to grow. It stretched over the window and thickened into the size of three branches then tied together, closing up the window for good. At least, until they broke or burned through. "That should hold for a while."

Rusty finished with three monsters that attempted to overpower him then noticed the flow of them had stopped. He looked up at Indy's handywork and smiled. "Good thinking, Indy!" Indy waved a thank you and smiled back and both returned to the fight.

"Hurry with the gate, you guys!" Coco shouted as she flipped out of the way of a monster's claws. She threw a dagger into it then recalled it to stab another that attempted to strike Bluey from behind.

"I've got it!" Valerie called as she finished the last monster in her way. She gripped the winch then struggled with it. Mackenzie and Chloe joined her once it was clear and with their help, the winch was easily moved. The gate opened just enough for the company below to enter. "Now go, quick!"

"The gate's open, hurry!" Rusty shouted.

"I'm trying to!" Snickers called as he scurried over with his mace over his shoulder.

The others raced passed the gate. Jack reached it last then called, "Drop the portcullis! Quick!"

Chloe saw the portcullis lever and quickly kicked it. The large, metal cage-like gate dropped and blocked off the monsters who helplessly pounded at it.

"Okay, we've cleared the gate! See you inside the castle!" Chloe waved before running behind Valerie and Mackenzie.

"And stay safe! Don't be reckless, Rusty." Indy said, following the other party close behind.

"I'll do my best," Rusty waved as he lead the party.

"We'll meet you in the throne room!" Bluey called back as they ran

"Look out!" Bingo shouted. She raised her hands and a ward blocked off a ball of fire that exploded on impact. She nearly slipped at the sheer force but held her ground.

There was a small army of monsters with a single lizard sorcerer chanting in their language before sending its troops to attack.

"Honey, Coco; Snickers, get that sorcerer!" Rusty barked as he pointed its sword at it.

"On it!" Snickers shouted and ran with Honey and Coco to the right of the chamber up some stares.

The lizard threw a spell at them to stop them, but Bingo intercepted it with a magic missile. "That's rude!" She glared, preparing another missile.

"Keep it up, Bingo!" Bluey complimented, "I'll protect you!"

"Rusty and I can take care of these guys!" Jack flipped his axe. "You guys help get the sorcerer!"

Rusty and Jack were already fighting the horde as they spoke. Bluey and Bingo ran left to the other flight of stairs opposite of Honey, Coco, and Snickers' flight. The stares led to the second level, where the sorcerer was standing, protected.

It threw another spell at Snickers and Honey, but it was again intercepted by Bingo. "Thanks, Bingo!" Snickers waved. He and Honey took on a lighter horde of monsters that protected the sorcerer.

The lizard sorcerer frustratedly stomped then shot another spell, this time at Jack. Rusty noticed it just in time and managed to deflect it with his shield. The spell shot back and into the balcony the sorcerer stood on. It angrily muttered and sent its personal troops into the fight. Bluey, Bingo, Snickers, Coco, and Honey were closing in on it. It yelled profanities in the monster language then shot a series of spells at Bingo and Bluey.

"Bluey look out!" Bingo raised her ward again and blocked the series of volatile spells. Her ward buckled and her footing staggered, but she kept focused. She tensed as the onslaught struck again and again.

Bluey saw a crack from in the ward. "Oh no!"

Finally, it stopped when the sorcerer saw three golden knives racing towards it. It deflected them with its own ward. This one, a sickly green in contrast to Bingo's watery blue. It eyed the daggers as they returned to their master. Coco wiggled her finger tauntingly with a smirk. Then threw three more. She broke off from Snickers and Honey who were wrestling with the sorcerer's personal guard. She flipped over the formation of monsters then tumbled past the rest of them as they swung at each other and struck their own ranks. She managed to tumble to the flight of stairs just next to the sorcerer's balcony then summoned a hammer that looked little more than a clown toy. The light weaight despite its comical size made it easy to swing it and slam it on the ground. The hammer's head sprang out making a loud and cartoonish twang and a large wave of energy picked up the surrounding monsters and suspended them into the air.

Snicker and Honey chuckled. "Nice one, Coco!" Snickers drew his mace back than charged forward with a war cry. A spear tip of fire formed around him as he barreled through the suspended enemies and crashed them into the wall.

Coco smirked at then teased the sorcerer once more. It frustratedly tried to cast a spell at her but it was hit with a magic missile from Bingo. It eyed her then noticed Rusty and Jack barging through the door below it was trying to protect. The door led to the antechamber that divided this chamber from the throne room. While their king's personal guard was there, the sorcerer was obviously unsure they would be enough to stop the two menaces that single handedly toppled its magic enhanced troops.

The lizard backed away, ready to race into the next chamber to hopefully join its king, but it was stopped short as Honey sent her lion at it. The etheric lion jumped from the bottom of the flight straight on top of the lizard with a mighty roar then bit into it causing it to burst into black dust.

Honey called back her lion then looked down at the pile with triumph. "That'll teach you to mess with a lion's pride."

"Thanks for the help, Bingo," Coco smiled as she gave her a hug.

"Yeah, you saved us twice," Snickers added.

"You're welcome." Bingo smiled as she put her hands behind her back and stood on her tippy toes then rocked back to an upright posture. They started down the hall to meet the rest of the team in the antechamber.

"You guys saved us too," Bluey said as they walked the passage, "If you didn't distract him, Bingo's ward would have broke!"

Bingo nodded. "It was very hard to hold. It got scary near the end bits."

"No problem," Honey assured, "Now let's throw this king off the princess's throne!"

In the next room below them, Rusty and Jack were making short work of the royal guard but were becoming tired. They retreated back to the door and held their ground in hopes Bluey and Snickers' teams would come to help them.

Jack blocked a blow and swung his axe then cut through a line of them and parried another guard and struck him with his pummel. "There's too many of them, Rusty!"

"Bluey! Snickers! We could use some backup!" Rusty called. But they didn't hear anyone call back. "Bluey? Snickers?" Rusty blocked two blows and fell to his knees as three guards tried to strike him at once. "Ugh, I can't hold this much longer!"

"Rusty!" Jack charged his axe and spun it, then slammed it down on the ground. It created some breathing room but that wouldn't last long.

"Bluey! Snickers! Bingo! Are you guys there?" Rusty called.

"Look out below!" Mackenzie sprinted and jumped over the balcony of the third floor then came crashing down like a lighting bolt. The stone broke under him, and streaks of lightning electrocuted several guards. Mackenzie summoned a sword and ran to their side, creating a tan cloud of sickly dust in his other hand. "We'll take care of the guard! Find Bluey and the others and help them take down the king!"

"Are you sure!" Indy called back.

Rusty looked up and nodded. "Go, we'll be fine with Mackenzie's help. His disease magic will make them too sick to fight!"

"Be careful, boys!" Valerie called as she started to run along the walkway above.

"We'll be fine, just go!" Rusty called.

"Here!" Chloe flourished her staff and both Rusty and Jack's weapons ignited on fire. "That enchantment will last a few minutes! Make it count."

"Awesome!" Jack admired his axe and readied his weapons as the royal guard recovered from Mackenzie's lighting. More started to march through the throne room door. These looking tougher than the others and better armed. There were six of them.

"Hurry! Find another way into the throne room! We'll keep them busy!" Mackenzie called.

"Come on, let's go!" Valerie shouted to the other girls before leading them away.

"Ready, guys?" Mackenzie asked as the guard readied themselves. Jack and Rusty covered their faces with scarfs stuffed with spices and took a balanced position then all three attacked together.

Meanwhile, Bluey and her company reached the landing above the throne room. Bluey hushed them and everyone ducked behind the banisters. They could see the big king monster pacing uncomfortably back and forth.

"Bluey!"

Bluey turned around and saw Chloe, Indy, and Valerie. They hugged and quietly expressed relief that the other was alright.

"Wait! Where's Mackenzie?" Bluey asked.

"We ran into Rusty and Jack while we were looking for you! They were in the other room fighting some guards. The whole castle is on top of them! They don't even realize we've made it this far!" Valerie explained. "Mackenzie decided to stay and help them. The monster king's best guards are distracted trying to get rid of them."

"They're so brave," Coco complimented taking both her hands and endearingly clasping them together near her cheek.

Honey nodded in agreement but looked more concerned. "I hope they'll be okay."

There was a thundercrack in the other room and some deep rumbling as well as a loud slam against the throne room doors. The king was startled. He snorted orders and his guards pointed weapons as at the door. Nothing came through. The king impatiently sent more to deal with the three on the other side. There were significantly less guards now. Only seven.

"I… think it's going well…" Chloe smiled comfortingly.

"Hopefully they can handle more bad guys," Indy nervously messed with her hands.

"We meant to go and help them and cover them from above like you did us. But we took too many wrong turns and ended up here," Explained Bluey.

Snickers shrugged. "On the bright side, we're right above the king. If we take him out, then the others will turn into dust!"

"So, what's the plan?" Indy asked as she peered through the stone banister.

"We need a safe way down," Bluey said as she eyed the lower floor. "We'll take them by surprise!"

"I can cast a feather fall spell!" Chloe volunteered eagerly. She hardly got to use it, and at this distance, it looked like it would be fun.

"Good idea!" Bluey complimented. "In that case, I'll take the king. Can you guys get the guards?"

"You can count on us, Bluey," Snickers said with a smile and a nod.

Chloe stared at the battlefield below while Bluey gave her plan and rolls to the others. Bluey had called her name a few times when Chloe decided to speak up. "I think I have an idea. And it might be easier than attacking head on." Everyone was listening.

The king paced back and forth again while his guard had not taken an eye off the solid doors. Unaware of the group of adventurers above them. Chloe cast the feather fall then descended first. As soon as she lightly touched the ground, she cleared her throat. The guards turned over and the king made a confused snort.

"Good morning." The gaurds aimed their spears at her. Chloe fiddled with the tip of her staff with a smile then quick drew her staff and yelled, "Freeze!" A burst of icy wind went forth and froze the guards in place. The rest of the party touched down as she dusted the ice off her staff. "Too. Easy."

"Nice work, Chloe," Coco complimented as she investigated the frozen solid guards.

"Your rain of terror ends here, evil king!" Bluey pointed her sword at him and gripped it with both hands. "That's the Princess of Roseland's throne."

The king monster snorted and took out a large iron hammer as he was ready to fight. But just then he heard a roar overhead.

Indy dropped down as a bear and smooshed the large hog with bone crushing force. The king turned into a cloud of dust as did his followers. The group cheered and celebrated together as Indy reverted her form and shook her head as she stumbled back to them.

"Maybe next time, someone else can jump on the giant pig," Indy stumbled and dropped to the ground then gripped her dazed head.

"You alright, Indy?" Bingo asked, rushing to her side.

"I'm just a little winded," Indy replied. "I'm fine, Bingo. Thanks."

The doors to the antechamber knocked three times. Snickers carefully opened them with Coco's help. Rusty, Jack and Mackenzie were catching their breath. Rusty's armor was a bit bent out of shape. Jack's leather armor was torn, and his chainmail had holes. Mackenzie's battle coat was ruffled and torn. They clearly had a tough fight.

"You made it!" Indy rushed to their side. "Are you boys okay? Are you alright, Rusty?"

"We're fine, Indy," Rusty replied, "My shield arm hurts. I tried blocking too many mace blows."

Bingo rushed over to his side and clicked her tongue. "Brave boy." She touched his arm and relaxed. "This'll help." A golden warm light covered the wound and slowly, the pain began to fade and eventually disappear.

"Thanks, Bingo," Rusty smiled, as he examined the arm. He wiggled and moved it, but the pain was as good as gone.

"Anyone else?" Bingo asked, eager to use her healing powers again.

"My arm and my leg could use some healing," Jack offered with an eager smile. Showing both wounds to her.

"Okay!" Bingo rushed to his side, and gripped his hand then pat it. "Brave boy," Then she began to heal him.

Mackenzie checked his hurt arm eager to have his turn next, but then a familiar pull stopped him. He shifted uncomfortably as he watched Bingo happily heal Jack. Jack looked happy and examined the results with wonder. He wanted the same, but then the tugging in his mind pulled harder making him feel uncomfortable.

"All done!" Bingo smiled.

"Thanks, Bingo!"

Coco applauded the results with the others then turned her attention to Mackenzie. He looked uncomfortable and winced a bit at his cut arm. "Mackenzie? What about you? You look hurt too."

"I'm fine," Mackenzie replied nervously a bit too quickly, "Don't worry about me. We should signal the princess now and let her know we've made it. Bingo should save her strength."

Chloe nodded reluctantly in agreement. A bit confused by Mackenzie's reaction. "I can… send the signal."

"Mackenzie," Bluey came to his side and looked at his left arm. "Are you sure you don't want Bingo's help? You're not scared, are you?" Bluey crossed her arms and smirked.

"What? No!" Mackenzie replied, "I'm not scared."

"Then why can't I heal you?" Bingo asked in concern.

"Because… I don't want you to."

"Why not?" Bluey asked crossing her arms and glaring.

"I just… don't want to," Mackenzie replied. Something felt off to the group. "I need to go."

Mackenzie left the room quickly without any more of an explanation. He looked worried for some reason. Bluey felt a tinge of guilt and tried to stop him. "Mackenzie! Wait! I was only…" but he was already gone. "I didn't meant to…" She sighed and looked sadly at her feet.

Coco tried following Mackenzie out but he had disappeared. "Why does he keep running away?"

"I don't know, Coco…" Valerie said eyeing the door he left in. "…I don't know…"

X

Hours later, the princess had returned to her throne, welcomed by fanfare and cheers, and her servants quickly set a banquet for the adventurers and all her subjects. The adventurers sat together at one big table next to the princess. Everyone but Mackenzie was there, his chair left empty.

"My loyal subjects… I am grateful to each and every one of you for sheltering me and my royal servants during this dreadful time. I have called you here to celebrate not only your kindness, but the bravery of these adventures. Let us give them a round of applause for their fearlessness and cunning in defeating the evil monster king." The ballroom had erupted in applause and the adventurers all waved and smiled. "Now, without further ado… let the feast and dancing begin!"

The ballroom filled with conversation and the adventurers eagerly got started with their food. Bluey looked all over the room but didn't see Mackenzie anywhere. She nervously rubbed her arm. She didn't mean to hurt his feelings. She felt bad for even the thought of teasing him. She just wanted to convince him to get healed. She only wished she knew why he didn't want to be healed.

Bluey leaned over to Bingo, who was seated next to her, but wasn't eating. "Have you seen Mackenzie yet?"

Bingo shook her head saddly. "I haven't seen him since he ran away."

Bluey sat up again and looked for Jack or Rusty. Rusty was talking with Indy. Both seemed quite committed to being polite and well mannered. Jack however, was stuffing his face with the royalty quality food. She decided to try him first. Bluey got up form the large chair. "Get something to eat, Bingo. This is princess food. You don't get to eat princess food often."

"Okay…" Bingo agreed reluctantly. She did have a bit of an appetite. And the food looked irresistible. But both girls were still worried about Mackenzie.

Bluey ducked then crawled under the large table and stood up beside him. "Jack?"

"Hmm?" Jack grabbed his towel and cleaned his hands and face.

"Did you and Rusty find Mackenzie?"

Jack shifted uncomfortably and seemed to have lost his appetite. He stopped chewing and looked down then shook his head and swallowed. "…No… We couldn't find him anywhere."

Valerie, having overheard Bluey whispering, tugged her arm and pointed. "Bluey, there! I see him!"

Bluey and Jack's heads both shot up and looked where she was pointing. They saw Coco rushing towards the border collie and talking to him. He looked guilty and scratched his head. Then he was surprised by a hug from Coco which he slowly returned. Coco pulled him to the empty seat next to hers where she had made a plate for him, neatly prepared. Bluey decided to crawl under the table again and apologize to him now. She needed this weight off her chest.

"Mackenzie!" She sprang out from under the table.

"Ahh! Bluey!" Mackenzie breathed. "Don't scare me like that."

Bluey shifted in place and rubbed her arm. "I'm sorry."

"It's alright," Mackenzie shook his head and relaxed.

"No, I mean, for teasing you," She clarified.

Mackenzie tensed again. "…It… wasn't your teasing, Bluey."

"It wasn't?" Bluey asked confused, "Then why did you run away from us?"

"I… nothing," Mackenzie replied, "Don't worry about it. Nevermind."

"Mackenzie!" Bluey groaned, "What's wrong? You always do this!"

"I…" Mackenzie sighed. "I'm not hungry." Mackenzie stood up and headed for the balcony.

"Mackenzie!" Coco called, "Come back…!" Coco sighed nearly ready to cry. "Not again…"

"Sorry, Coco… I'll go get him back." Bluey ran after him but had lost sight of him in the midst of all the tall adults and movement. She shuffled passed them and looked everywhere. She eventually found the black and white fur pattern outside, alone, on the castle balcony where some of the other guests had gone for fresh air or quiet. Mackenzie was leaning on the banister looking up at the mountain beyond the horizon next to the full moon. Some fireworks were on display as well.

Bluey approached carefully so she wouldn't chase him off or have him hear her coming. She eventually stood beside him staring out at the same mountain, the same moon, and enjoyed the scene for a while. She dared not to speak, unsure if he was aware she was there or not. But eventually she filled the silence. "Mackenzie…?" He didn't say anything. "Mackenzie, I'm sorry."

Mackenzie sighed. "No, I'm sorry, Bluey. I'm not trying to be mean… I just… don't want to talk about anything right now."

"I just want to know if you're okay…" Bluey climbed beside him on the banister and rested her head on the stone top as they stared at the moon. "I don't like it when you run away from me."

Mackenzie sighed and rested his head on the stone as well. They stared into the night sky together, quietly. "I don't either, Bluey… I don't either…"

And that's a wrap! Please give me feedback. What do you think? What makes sense to you, what doesn't? Who should have what kind of part? Does Valerie come on too strong LOL? Let me know in the comments.

Also... pairings. I want to hear about those too.

I see Bluey and Mackenzie are shipped a LOT. I ship Coco and Mackenzie more, but I kind of like the Bluey and Mackenzie's dynamic and could honestly live with it. Rusty and Indy have to be a thing, too adorable not to. Those are the big ones. Any more?
