Chapter 6

The news was immediately broadcasted, the TV news reports made it known almost immediately, almost all the media announced that Ron Stoppable, the partner of the teenage heroine Kim Possible, had died after stopping Dr. Drakken's Lil Diablo plot.

The audience couldn't believe it, they couldn't believe that the sidekick had been the one who stopped the blue scientist instead of Kim, but that disbelief was short-lived when they showed the images and videos of Ron confronting Drakken's henchmen and Eric, and also showed the video of how Kim humiliated Ron at the prom. People couldn't believe that Kim would think that of Ron, while most viewers didn't have a different opinion than Kim's words, those opinions were silenced after seeing Ron's performance.

The audience was devastated after watching Ron being slaughtered to death, most of the audience felt pity for the boy, in Montana Joss and his father Slim were devastated when they received the news, Nana was also devastated when she heard about Ron's death, it was as if she had lost a grandchild, On the other hand in Japan, the people of Yamanouchi went into mourning when they heard that the Monkey Master had fallen in battle, Yori mourned the death of his beloved and the Sensei kept silent to honor the memory of his pupil, rather, the world mourned for the young Stoppable, it was the least they could do for him now.

The doorbell at the Possible residence rang and Dr. Ann opened the door to welcome Mr. and Mrs. Stoppable home.

"Oh, you are here." Ann said before giving each of them a hug.

"How's Kimberly?" Ron's mother asked. "She's not coming with us?"

"She hasn't left her room since she got back from prom." Ann reported. "She locked herself in her room, didn't eat or drink anything, I try to talk to her but she refuses to respond."

"Is it okay with you if we talk to her?" Ron's father asked.

"Do you really think you guys are going to get her out of her room?" Ann asked.

"I don't know, but it's important that she hears what we have to say." Mrs. Stoppable said.

Ann wasn't sure about this, but after trying to talk to her daughter, maybe this is the best chance she had, so she let them go home.

Kim was lying face down on her bed, she hadn't even changed out of her prom dress or washed her face of the makeup marks that had seeped from her tears.

To her that didn't matter, all she could think about was that she sent Ron to his death, not only did she not believe him about her Lil Diablo warning, she humiliated him in front of everyone, she made him believe that their friendship was a lie, and now he was dead because of everything she spat at him.

Ron died for being the only one to do the right thing, he put aside his feelings to save the world, he put aside his insecurities and fears to face his greatest challenge.

She couldn't get out of her mind how Ron was slaughtered on the mission, not only by the wounds Drakken and his henchmen inflicted on him, but by the wounds she inflicted on him.

The image of Ron in agony is still in her mind, she caused all this, she caused his death, she deserved all the scorn from everyone.

The door to her room rang but she didn't react.

"Kimberly, it's Ron's parents." Ron's mother's voice was heard on the other side of the door.

Kim shuddered knowing they were here to blame her for her son's death.

"Kimberly, please open the door for us." Mr. Stoppable said. "We didn't come here to yell at you, we just want to talk."

Kim remained motionless on the bed.

"It's okay Kimberly, you don't have to open the door, you don't have to say anything, just listen to what we have to say." Mrs. Stoppable said. "We don't hate you, contrary to what you think, we don't hate you for what happened." She admitted. "We could blame you for abandoning him, but that would be an accusation that the two of us are guilty of as well." She paused to let her husband continue.

"We want you to know that you didn't kill him." Mr. Stoppable said. "While that doesn't take away the guilt you feel for how you treated him, you should be clear that the only one responsible for Ron's death was Drakken and his henchmen."

"We don't wish you any harm, we wholeheartedly hope you can get through this." Ron's mother paused before continuing. "I want you to know that our home is still your home, if you need anything you can talk to us."

"Kimberly, nothing more needs to be said to let you know that we forgive you, just as Ron did before he died, we forgive you for how you treated our son, but that won't do any good if you're not willing to accept that forgiveness, that's up to you."

Ron's parents waited a moment to see if Kim would come out of her room, but nothing happened.

They turned to leave but that's when they heard Kim's bedroom door open to reveal the disheveled looking redhead on the verge of tears, again.

"I didn't want him to die." She burst into tears, it was impossible for her to believe that Ron's parents would forgive her for causing them so much harm by causing their son's death. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." Kim continued to cry.

Ron's parents came up to her and hugged her, Kim clung to that hug, as if her life depended on it.

Kim wasn't sure if going to Ron's funeral would be a good idea, ever since the news broke the media kept labeling her as the one primarily responsible for Ron's death. It had been difficult for her to evade the press as she left her home.

Kim, her parents, her brothers and Ron's parents drove to the synagogue where Ron was congregating, transportation was provided by Global Justice who also offered to pay for Ron's funeral services.

When they arrived at the synagogue they could see a large number of paparazzi trying to get pictures of the event.

Kim looked at the photographers on the scene, she always wanted Ron to have recognition, but not in this way.

As they entered the synagogue Kim could see what several classmates from her school came to say their last goodbyes to Ron, Monique and Felix could be seen sitting in the front rows, as well as Wade himself who had come out of his house to pay tribute to his fallen friend.

"What are you doing here?" Kim turned around to see Tara and some of Kim's fellow cheerleaders.

"I...came to say goodbye to Ron." Kim replied quietly.

""For what, so you could express in front of everyone how much you hated him?"" Hope asked.

"I didn't want to say that."

"But you did." Jesica told her.

"You shouldn't have come out of the hole you were hiding from." Marcela told her.

"Get out of here, you don't even deserve to see his body one last time, murderer." Cristal spat.

"Murderer!"

"Murderer!"

"Murderer!"

The chants of 'Murderer' soon became loud. Kim began to feel the weight of Ron's death grow heavier and heavier.

"Silence!" Ron's mother intervened. "What do you think you're doing?"

"How can you defend her?" Tara asked.

"Because of her, your son is dead." Marcela said.

"Exactly, she doesn't deserve to be here." Hope said.

"Who do you think you are to judge Kimberly? Don't you think my husband and I aren't hurt by the fact that we lost our only child?" Mrs. Stoppable. "We know who is responsible for Ron's death, and it wasn't her. But if my son, with his last strength, could forgive her, do you think you have the right to judge her?" She continued. "Now, I want no more accusations or judgments against Kim, she stays here." Mrs. Stoppable took Kim by the shoulders and the two took their places.

Everyone noticed that Ron's casket was draped with the US flag, Betty Director did not know how to honor Ron's memory since he never had any recognition throughout his career of saving the world, so she thought the most appropriate way would be to honor him as a soldier.

Rabbi Katz took the podium to begin the funeral service. "Beloved friends, we are here to bid farewell to Ronald Adrian Stoppable, who passed away after stopping Dr. Drakken's plot... You know that he is a soldier, and he is a soldier of the world. Drakken's plot... You know, something that always struck me about Ronald is that despite his carefree and lazy attitude, there was a sense of responsibility that only appeared when it really required his full concentration, even if he was scared, even if in the end people did not give him any recognition he wanted to do it because he felt it was his responsibility, and in a way it was, so today we honor the memory of this young hero by remembering him as what he was, a hero." everyone kept silent and showed respect while Rabbi Katz led the prayers. After the service concluded, Global Justice soldiers carried Ron's body and led the funeral procession to Middleton Cemetery. Several of Ron's acquaintances showed up and showed respect to Ron's memory, Tara and the cheerleaders attending the funeral, as well as Brick Flag and some football teammates, even Steve Barkin himself showed up at the scene. Kim stayed out of everyone's sight, watching from afar as the funeral program continued.

Will Du ordered his agents to load their guns and fire into the sky before ordering two others to lift the flag from Ron's casket and fold it, Global Justice agent number one took the folded flag and handed it to Ron's parents. After the funeral was over people began to leave, Ron's parents stayed a little longer before returning home. Kim was the only one left, she just stared at Ron's gravestone, she closed her eyes thinking about how things could have been if she hadn't kicked Ron out of the Prom, but now there was no use talking about 'what if', she had to live with it, if she could.

-o0o-

Kim stood in front of the pier with a briefcase in her hand. The days that followed after the funeral were difficult, the press hounded Kim everywhere she went to see if she would come forward, her classmates decided to ignore her to this day, she quit the cheerleading squad and so many clubs she belonged to, she felt she didn't deserve to be with them after what happened with Ron. She closed her website, she had talked to Wade about her decision, he more than agreed before cutting ties with her indefinitely, he needed time to get over this and maybe forgive Kim for what happened.

Kim put the briefcase on the floor and opened it to see her mission clothes, there was all that facade that she created, that mask of perfection with which she won everyone in the world, that character, that fantasy that made her bring to death the person who helped her get far, now she hated it. She threw the briefcase to the Ossean, Kim Possible the teenage heroine no longer existed, now there was only Kimberly Ann Possible, the girl who was trying to rebuild her life after a tragedy.

A/N: Well guys, that's all for now, I'm sorry if the ending wasn't as long as you expected. I'm also sorry if the people who wanted me to throw all the hate at Kim were disappointed, in spite of what happened I decided to put in a nutshell the position of the others towards Kim, as for Ron's parents I didn't want them to hate Kim for abandoning their son, since it was something they did most of his life until this story, as a saying goes: With the yardstick you measure, you will be measured.

If you are wondering if there will be a sequel or a new story, I can't guarantee anything like that since I have been very busy in college and by next year I will be graduating, so time will tell.

Thanks to all the readers who took the time to read the fic and comment, see you soon.
